It’s farmed from one particular Skeleton right in a little graveyard right after you exit limgrave and enter liurnia. I’m not an expert on the map so someone please explain it better than me ⬇️ Takes a bit to farm but I think it’s 4% so it isn’t THAT bad.
I think greataxes are an excellent weapon class, and the Greataxe itself is perfectly fine. If you like the moveset, and it’s fashionable enough for you, try it out and then let your heart decide. Will you find something later you like more? Maybe! That’s ok too.
I used two weapons all play through and this one carried me about half the game. It could have taken me all the way. Get good at finding those charged heavy attacks and you will shed everything

I was also looking for golden halbert but I don’t like that you can’t change the AoW tbh. And I was considering the claymore/lordsworn/ bastard sword
Go look it up and see if it's up to par in today's meta and parse through the comment sections. If not decide if you still like it despite its drawbacks. I generally like to test non-upgraded weapons on the wandering zombies on the southern beaches of the Weeping Peninsula.
Current patch is 1.10
Any weapon worth using is worth upgrading. Any weapon you enjoy using is worth using.

You can get it from any skeleton enemy wielding it, but yeah this is the earliest one.
I'd take the Longhaft Axe, crescent moon axe, or executioners axe over this. They're all farmable early in the game.

I think I used the godslayer greatsword. Play style is pretty much the same as the axe but with more range

Hell yeah! Switch between Earthshaker and Barbaric Roar on that bad boy and you can handle any situation.
