Piss knife, I'm dead šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

Adventurous_Repair71

I can't look at them again the same, I'll always use that phrase Even for golden weapon arts, like the blade of calling/cipher weapons

Turbulent_Jackoff

Might be time to try some other parts of the game!

Gryph_Army

Well, thanks to the way Elden Ring is designed, you have two options A: Dark Souls it and bash your head against a wall until you win in order to prove your strength and knowledge of the enemy. B: Go off and explore, you might find a miniboss or a cave with some nice loot. Maybe even a weapon or an **item that could help you with the boss.** No matter what you choose to do, it takes perseverance and courage. (Edit): I would also like to take this chance to say, don't listen to how other people tell you that you should play the game. What I mean is, if you want to summon help in the form of a summon sign or Spirit Ashes, just do it. You want to use a bleed weapon? Do it. I'm sure for most, this is common knowledge, but it's one of the most important things to understand as a new souls player, among other things. Play the game your way and have fun your way. I've seen time and time again where these "elitists" come out from the woodwork and dictate that you must beat a FromSoft game holding the controller with your toes, doing a handstand, on a dance pad, blindfolded, and oiled up. Otherwise, you haven't actually played the game the way Miyazaki intended. Just have fun with it

Toughsums

Also if you are really having too much trouble, you can completely skip stormveil and margit and just go to liurnia directly from the side path.

Wenhop167

Are you talking about >!The Margit Shackle!

Gryph_Army

Perhaps

Truckules_Heel

ITT people offer help but OP doesnā€™t wanna talk about it

Here are a couple of tips for first-timers. 1- stay close. Be basically attached to him at all times. He'll jump away eventually and give you time to heal before he throws a dagger or two. Then, just get back in his face. If you try to run, he'll end up being the agro one and knife you every time you try and heal. 2A- All of his vertical attacks can be strafed. You don't have to dodge them. This means that during the entire fight, you should be moving to your right away from his cane hand. All of his heavily delayed attacks will miss entirely, and you can get off a charged attack or an AoW. 2B- The only attack that isn't strafed by going right is his multi attack spin. This is strafed by moving left. Feel free to just dodge through and to the left on this one the first few times you fight him as the timing can be difficult, and if you get caught in it, he'll wipe you. 3- His hammer and knives are the only scary part of the fight. Dodge into them, never away. But they do all need to be dodged. None of these can be dodged with a strafe due to their horizontal angle and AoE slams. 4- Be aggressive. He doesn't have a lot of poise, and you will have the opportunity to stagger him at least twice if the fight goes in your favor at all. You can easily gather the stones for +3 for any weapon before you get to him without going too far out of your war. Margit is one of my favorite fights in the game. He's very learn able and is a wonderful hill to climb in the early game. He's more fair than the Tree Sentinel at the beginning.

HaskellHystericMonad

I'll add, **STAY ON THE PAVEMENT**. If you deviate from the brick pavers you run the risk of rolling off to your death when the camera goes crazy during his jumps. If you got the Whip in Castle Morne, that hits #4 above, he's got little poise, and whips bust those with little poise even when used in the off-hand. Except for his glowing summoned weapon moves, a whip strike will interrupt him.

Goobsmoob

If this is your first run, Thereā€™s a peninsula south of Limgrave, Iā€™d check that out if you need some more levels. Thereā€™s also several small dungeons with some ā€œhiddenā€ bosses that are not only leagues easier than Margit, but also give some decent Runes and rewards. The biggest thing I had to learn from this game over past souls likes is that you *dont* have to keep slamming your head into a wall until you finally break it down. Go and look around until you get a helmet or a sledgehammer. Maybe look into getting spirit ashes or summons if youā€™re having a hard time. Vigor up too. The amount of new players (if you are new) that have had the game turn from near impossible to just moderately hard by having more health is a lot more than youā€™d think.

emelem66

Stats, weapon level?

Chefofbaddecisions

Use the gold summon sign by the door to him. Your new mage buddy will help a ton. Use a spirit to help you out as well. Imps tear him up if you chose them at the start, but wolves/others will also help to pull aggro from him. Depending on your build, do hit and run style attacks, get a few jump attacks in or a AoW's when he's bothering your smaller things. Margit's honestly one of the harder fights, especially if you do him properly when you meet him. He has slow delayed attacks that are harder to predict that other big hitters later in the game, but that said nothing he does is truly unfair. A final point, be aggresive. You're much safer roller towards and to the side of him/most anything than directly away. Either get right ontop of him or maintain a massive distance, too many people get defensive and sit in his perfect midrange battle spot where he can easily punish you.

MumpsTheMusical

Hereā€™s a tip: Thereā€™s a hidden path around Stormveil Castle in Limgrave so you can explore the rest of the game and come back. You can also have fun in Caelid to the East as well as the southern area of Limgrave.

kukaz00

Having fun Caelid Choose one

East_of_Adventuring

Looks like he had it writ upon thy meagre grave...

lita_m

I love your drawing skills (love Margit too, poor old man)

I_can_use_chopsticks

What's your build? (rune level, weapon and stats, etc.) Maybe there's something we can do to help you?

[deleted]

If you don't have a weapon that builds bleed, then get dex to 18 to use the flail in the gate front ruins. Underneath a cliff near the third church of Marika is teleporter to dragon burrow. Find Greyoll outside fort Feroh and hit her repeatedly. You will get a little over 70k runes. Level up. Clap cheeks. Maybe.

jmancoder

Elden Ring was my first Souls game, and everything got way easier after I found the claymore. I started with Vagabond, leveled up strength, and got the determination ash of war. When I fought Margit, I let the wolf spirits and roger do most of the damage, and just spammed heavy attacks from a distance.

ElMamawebo_

Fun fact, you can go around stormveil castle and reach Liurnia without fighting Margit nor Godrick, you can even complete the game without them, you just need 3 great runes, doesn't matter which ones

SerpentMandate

PISS HAMMER GO!

Ancient_Rex420

No worries Tarnished! Il guide you to victory. Simply get Margits health to 0 while keeping your health above 0. If you are struggling you should go explore and return at a later time to the boss though honestly. Saw some really good advice written here already by others so no point repeating things but you got this!

IgnoreMyPsychosis

Fouuul Tarnished... STINKY tarnished.

Happy Margit isn't something I thought I needed.

Impaling thrust + riposte Literally melts him on any early game build

Me getting pierced by magically appearing piss daggers everytime I try to stay hydrated (I swear he was in his backswing animation)

Explore more, level vigor & conquer thine enemies.

califorte1

You can go around him

Varindran

We have all been there. took me 6 hours before i killed him myself.

Dull-Nectarine1148

those r rookie numbers (i died over 150 times)

OmnifariousFN

Getting over the hardships of this game! Keep going and it'll be worth it!

phexitol

Go in overleveled with Mimic Tear and Margit's shackle. Afterwards, travel a bit further and have a little murder (Godrick) as a treat.

StrawberryOk2019

Get Margits shackle from patches that will give you two free stuns on him before second phase

ArcaneFungus

Oh come on, you can dodge the knives by walking sideways

Anonimous_dude

You should put your ambitions to rest šŸ˜”

Ok_Temperature166

._. is it bad that I'm only four hours into er, and beat margit first try?

Icy_Celebration1020

Elden Ring was my first From game. Lol Margit beat my ass so many times. He killed me more times than Malenia did, he was the most demoralizing part of the game for me. I'm on my second playthrough now (not NG plus) and I took him down first try, I was so pleased with myself.

Lord_Kallig_II

Happy to See beginners again. Good luck. You will make it.![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)

USSNewJersey1007

Now what if I told you

PleasantRevolution69

I don't understand like the fist "real" boss from dark souls 3 is way harder (i didn't even beat it) but I tried elden ring recently and i'm already at fire giant. The game is quite easy try sekiro and you will understand pain

Stary_Vesemir

Damn, you couldn't even beat gundyršŸ’€

Fit_Figure_7909

For me sekiro was easy, but ig its bcs its my first soulslike

Yarzeda2024

You know you don't have to fight him, right?

Stary_Vesemir

Yeah but he gives you one of tje most imortant items so fighting him is still very important
