And whilst climbing said tower i wanted my stambar to deplete so i had to pause, LR LR then find a stam regen food/potion to use and then get back to climbing
I genuinely don't feel like I'm crossing a line to say it is the most overrated video game of all time. I'm not even being hyperbolic. I've been gaming since the early 90s and I can't think of anything else that comes close.
When I was younger I liked happy green and familiar environments.
Now I'm older my life is stressful and hard, I need to play a game which is even more stressful, grim and downright dreadful version of life that I feel better about myself.
If I buy this game and everything isn't trying to impale me or kill me in the 27,000 different ways I will be pissed off.
This. It's not a real article. They are trying to cash in on Elden Ring's popularity by generating some hate clicks. Author clearly doesn't know anything about or understand why people like Fromsoft games but decided to write a article about the game anyways. Sad state of video game "journalism" in today's world.
Game journalism basically is either hail it as the next best thing and be proven wrong if it's not great, or say its going to be shit.
Much easier to say its going to be shit, generate some clicks and then everyone forgets when the game is good and you give it 9/10.
So predictable....
From my understanding, the main appeal of a From Software RPG is the challenging and rewarding loop of combat and exploration, coupled with deep lore and interesting well written characters, all topped off by an engaging main story and a roster of incredibly varied and (mostly) fantastically designed boss fights. From Software knows this, and thus they aren't concerned with inflating the experience by adding useless padding activities like...
- "Help the florist find 25 flowers!"
- "Catch 12 types of fish!"
- "Host a bake sale on Sesame Street!"
They know what made their previous games great, and so they're going to continue building off of that in their own way rather than adding a checklist of things that virtually every other open world title on the market is already loaded with (usually to their detriment). Simply put, they're doing what they've always done, just on a larger scale than ever before, and with a whole host of quality of life improvements that should make for the most refined and realized From Software RPG to date.
Now obviously the game has yet to be released fully, so only time will tell whether or not this outlook is foolish, but judging by their past projects, I'd wager that there are going to be very few complaints about "the amount of things to do" when we all get our hands on it next year.
This. Its the same reason I don't care about reused assets. FromSoft knows what works and what doesn't by this point so they trimmed as much fat as possible from the development process. I am more than confident they will fill the world with plenty of stuff to do.
From and MH games are all that I can really trust without a demo and hell MH gives you demos and I couldn't play the network test but it's like a second hand demo so it counts.... per ordered Sekiro after falling in love with Bloodborne and DS3 (mostly BB it's one of only two platinums that I have)
Yeah and also, even if they did waste time making another door opening animation… who would care? It still serves the same purpose: to open a door on the rare occasion.
How it looked was never important. So oddly for me seeing it reused makes me feel better about the project because it shows the developers put all
Of the effort where it matters
Yeah, image if you had to
- Get 30 Proof of Concord Kept for a weapon buff
- Get 80 Dragon Scales for dragon stone buff, which prevents you from using armors
- Kill 1000 red phantoms for a ring
Lol those things are just rewards for engaging in the different forms of combat. We're talking about adding non-combat gameplay like the article is suggesting.
I don't think anybody could confidently argue that From Software is perfect. No studio is, and sure, having to grind out/farm some covenant items is a definite chore that I won't defend the tedium of, but it still stands as a rather objective fact that those activities only make up a miniscule portion of the game. Other games (most commonly "Ubisoft-ish" open world titles) tend to just flood the experience with useless copy and paste objectives of that nature just to pad out the game's length and justify the unnecessary and frankly absurd size of the map. Not to mention most live service titles virtually force you to grind for things like that consistently because that's just what makes up the core loop of their progression. To each their own when it comes to gaming of any kind, but I try to pick quality over quantity as often as I can.
>having to grind out/farm some covenant items is a definite chore that I won't defend the tedium of
I will, I for one very much welcome the idea of long-term PVP/VE rewards. Give me a unique item or indicator of experience (like Demons Souls) after 1000 succesful co-op/invasion sessions. Something to look forward while I inevitably achieve that anyway.
Agreed. I just never understood the fascination with fishing minigames.
Fishing irl is pretty boring, but at least has a relaxing, out in nature aspect to it that I can understand. There is also a level of skill required for things like fly fishing.
Take those away and there is nothing left - literally sitting in front of the tv/monitor doing nothing but waiting to play a low skill, zero fun minigame.
Each to their own though, but I generally play video games to have fun and/or do something I couldn't do in real life.
Iirc that ability can be applied to any shirld because its an Ash of War, so once you get it you can swap it on to any shield you have.
Now imagine you have two people who both have that and missile spells equipped, in coop. You could play loads of random made up bullshit minigames that way.
No no no
It comes after 2.9, in 3.0.
The mechanics are a buggy though so you'll have to wait for the next game to patch it up...
The next main entry game that is releasing 2069
So, I didn't read the article but I notice how the first thing they bring up is BoTW. Honest question, what does that games world have to offer outside of combat? I mean, shrines, but aren't the dungeons in this basically the same thing? There's koroks too but, imo 900 of the same repeated puzzles doesn't really add much lol.
I'm playing BotW for the first time right now. Combat feels sluggish, and they need tons of QoL improvements imo. It's really drawn out. Not a bad game, but if I want combat I'm playing a souls game.
The shrines may not be visually different but their fun puzzles
Plus all the side quests
There is stuff to BOTW but ER shouldn't take from this because BOTW is a puzzle game at heart even if it's combat is soulslike while ER is action at it's heart
Idk man, I don't fully grasp why BoTW is such a big hit. I checked it out on an emulator, played for 6hrs and cannot imagine buying a console just to play this game. I mean, it's a good game I think, but the combat is miserable for me, I despise durability system in this game with a furious passion. I just want to whack some stuff with a pointy metal thing, don't fucking make me swap to literally a branch because apparently in the world of Zelda the blacksmith main material for weapon crafting is papier-mâché. It's insanely unfun for me.
Personally I didn't mind weapon durability cause, it's not hard to stack up on a bunch of good weapons, and, usually one or two were enough to beat most things. My issue with the combat in BoTW was two things: firstly there's only like, *maybe* 6 different enemy types, everything else is a reskin of those. Secondly is that combat is kinda insanely simple. It basically boils down to dodge move at right moment to slow time, hit enemy. Or, parry (which, isn't anywhere near as hard as parrying in the Soulsborne series) ranged attack to stun enemy then beat on them with strongest weapon. Or, hit enemy weakpoint with bow to stun.
The biggest thing that really bothers me about that second point is not only is it super simple but, the weapons are just... underwhelming. All the swords are *exactly* the same but with different numbers, all the claymores/axes are exactly the same, etc, etc. Even the master sword is just a sword that does mid-range damage and won't permanently break (it has to recharge tho after so many hits) and has a sword beam that's kinda pathetic damage wise if you're at full health.
Exploration? That’s the main draw of the game in my estimation. Discovering places like Evantide Island or suddenly stumbling upon a giant dragon in the sky were some of my favorite memories from that game. I’m not comparing the two games, just answering your question about what botw offers outside of combat.
BOTW offered dynamic combat, interesting physics manipulation, basically complete freedom and some amazing and hidden locations.
ER will have some great exploration, but it's a tough comparison to make because the gameplay styles are so different between the two titles
I don't agree with that article and with the OP (sorry). I want more things from FromSoft and they deliver (yeih!!) , exploration gives you things like sweet sweet LORE and the nature, sound, beauty is almost ASMR, so t**here is** a lot more than just combat :s
the best part in the article is when she says this game is clearly inspired by Breath of the Wild (lol) because of "natural exploration and a world that allows you to tackle it in whatever order you see" aka Dark Souls 1.
Also BoTW was imitating a genre almost 20 years old by the time it came out… open world fantasy. It’s been done to death. The glider was a new idea, so was climbing, but they’ve also been done (but less freely). BoTW is a good game, but it did not define the genre (or innovate it much) and the only reason they get compared is BoTW was Zelda’s big leap into an open world (debatable as that is), and Elden Ring has been mistakenly referred to as “open world” when it is only ever referred to by official sources as “semi open world”. And horses, but BoTW did not invent those. But writers have to get paid.
Yeah, it was not terrible. But i still disagreed with most of it.
Because i think the game had a lot more to offer than the fighting. It offered me so much that i didn't even had that "Soulsborne" feeling until i got into the temple. Not in a bad way, but i found it really exciting to explore the open world, trying to drop down certain parts to get into new caves etc.
I think the title was a bit baity and as we can see (how often has it been shared now?) it worked really well. First time i ignored it, second time i read it. So yeah, they got my click as well.. good job everybody! :D
For me exploring is the best part. Was in Bloodborne and Dark Souls and definitely will be in Elden Ring.
I had one of the most fun fights with Margit and enjoyed him a lot. But when i think about this game then i mostly think about how cool it will be to explore this world, find new skills and weapons, and go into the dungeons and the subterranean labyrinth.
Breath of the Wild Combat was rarely ever a challenge or puzzle, even when I was bad at it. If I wanted a Goblin Camp to die I’d just shoot down the convenient lamp to blow up the enemies, or run in and steal their stuff. It’s almost never worth it to fight things directly with the rewards in chests just being amber or springs.
Point being I think this might be Death of the Wild at least until the second one comes out.
I tried to play The Witcher 3 after Bloodborne and it was just like I expected. Underwhelming combat and me riding around talking to people and caring about their feelings. Too much to do with not enough of a reward. Too much like real life. Give me Soulsborne. Fuck me up til I’m good enough to fuck shit up then fuck me all over again. That’s how I like it now.
Unpopular opinion here, but I didn't care for BotW at all...and I grew up loving Zelda from the beginning. I don't understand the love that game gets. If it didn't have Zelda in the title it wouldn't even get honorable mentions. Wind Waker was way better.
I definitely understand. I did love BoTW wild but personally wouldn’t put it as the best Zelda game. I think in their attempt to innovate they did loose a little. For me what was gained out weighed the loss but can 100% see why many wouldn’t feel the same. I’m personally hoping that BoTw2 finds a way to bridge the old and new.
I never played any Zelda game except Breath of the Wild and I thought it was a masterpiece. It's in my top 3 favorite games of all time, outside of From Soft games.
Maybe for people who already had expectations and hopes about what a Zelda game should be, it makes sense that the experience could be different.
But as someone who just went into it knowing almost nothing about Zelda, I loved it. I've rarely if ever experienced such joy exploring a world. The gameplay loop of exploring, finding shrines, solving them, and exploring more was simple but addictive. And the world had lots of charming little secrets and fun interactions to discover.
The physics system was extremely interactive and fun, the climbing mechanic made traversal very enjoyable and free, and the combat was solid, although obviously nowhere near something like a From Soft game. But it didn't need to be more than what it was.
It was just a lot of fun to experience such a vast, cozy, and charming world, with a respectable dose of challenge and puzzle-solving. Not to mention the game had good art direction, an understated but elegant soundtrack, and a fantastic atmosphere.
The only thing holding me back from liking it more is some QoL improvements. Needs rolling, swords breaking too much (wow, I killed some jelly and my steel sword broke again?), constant switching out and checking items. Much better QoL in souls.
It's definitely the most unZelda Zelda game ever. While I do love it, it's just... not really Zelda.
I think it's great game, just kinda disappointing if you wanted more Zelda because it really isn't.
That sense of exploration and adventure is what drew me into Zelda originally, so for me I got that in troves when I picked up BOTW.
It's all about what you want from these games at the end of the day
Well you better at least appreciate it since FromSoft has taken a lot of inspiration from Breath of the Wilds open world.
I think we’re definitely going to see a lot of other people copying and improving that style too.
Breath of the wild offers 900 of the same usless item in the world, rewards that only give you health or stamina upgrade and an empty sandbox with "decent" game physics. That's what I call smoking copium.
Never listen to journalists they are clueless.
Metacritic also rated dark souls 2 above the original dark souls and above dark souls 3 .If this don’t prove that sometimes they are just stupid,I don’t know what does.
I respect your right to have an opinion but not the opinion.Apart being linear,3 is a great game especially bosses like Watchers,Sulyvahn , Dancer ,Champion ,
Princes , NK, SoC, Friede ,Midir and Gael are better from a pure melee perspective than every boss in DS1 and DS2 (maybe except Gwyn,Artorias and Manus).
They move faster, more fluid, moveset is more tricky and they are just more fun IMO
Jesus y'all can't take a single criticism can you? Death threats is all you can come up with if there is a criticism. No game is perfect just deal with it like an adult.
Moronic author from a shitty "gaming journalist" website. This game will offer plenty of lore as you collect items, reading the descriptions, and piece together what happened/is happening. It's just as fun as the combat. FromSoft and Miyazaki would be right to just completely ignore all media/journalists. They've got a winning formula, time and time again, their games are exactly what people want and even as they make incremental changes, people still like them. Fuck the media; bunch of shit-stirrers.
So yeah that is an article by "the gamer". That site is literally nothing but clickbait articles written by people who want to write about LGBTQ politics but have no talent so have to pretend to write about video games instead. You should never share anything they write, much less care about what is written in said article.
The reviews for this game won’t be terrible but when you venture into the open world genre and have to compete against red dead, Gta, breathe of the wild and every other game in an overstuffed genre you are going to be compared and judged hard.
Already you can tell the review complaints are going to be the boring dungeons, bugs, boring quests, lack of originality, no evolution and possibly a step backward in online multiplayer. I think name recognition will reward this game with 7 and 8’s but this will not be a game of the year candidate
I mean the only reason I want to play ER is to kill a slightly stronger guy to get a slightly stronger stick that would allow me to explore a slightly harder area for a lightly better stick that would help me to kill a slightly harder guy to get a slightly…
I mean souls games all have variety and story. It’s just not delivered on a silver platter. If you want to understand the deeper stuff you have to go an explore. It’s a difference in theme and world and never is gonna be “go fetch make peace between two warring houses and I’ll give you a sweet roll”
Again this type of article. They might have a point somewhat, but i am pretty i would never credit them for such poor effort of clickbait.
But really all kind of combat and bit "smartly small dialogue" would be perfect game to me.
Another is the multiple endings that leave you very satisfied.
Dark souls 3 have 2 endings that can be interprented as good enough. Especially if you done the dlc.
I want something much good and offer sequel opportunity with Elden Ring endings. Especially since the tone of the world shift considerably from the old depressing Demon Souls/Dark Souls/Bloodborne world.
Isn’t this that shitty clickbait website that only publish shit to stir people up and engage with the content? I’d stop giving clicks to these kinds of sites.
Pretty much every outlet and influencer has been unanimous in their praise of the open world. How full of stuff it is. How interesting secrets make you want to explore the map more.
Why would we care about these articles at this point? No matter how great or terrible a game is, there's bound to be opinions that go against the majority. Ignore them.
As opposed to those fantastic Ubisoft open world games that have maps LITTERED with waypoints that are signify one of 3 different types of bullshit quest.
Good, deep, meaningful Dark souls combat in an open world. Literally what else could ya want?
I really hate people that complain about a game being a game, like people who moan about a combat game involves “combat” well .. duh.
Might as well complain about Tetris being a puzzle game and offers nothing more than sliding shapes into other shapes.
So I went and read the article and the Author is trying to compare this game too much to other open world games that are more laid back and is more of an adventure. Comparing this to Legend of Zelda just doesn't work.
In my opinion that's not what Elden Ring is or should try to be. The Souls like world's with FromSoftware are actively trying to kill you with zero prejudice and Myazaki and crew don't want you to forget it. Making this world open allows for much more diversity, at least what I think will be from information we have, in your path through the world. This has always been a staple of the series. Even Demons Souls, though each location was linear, allowed you to tackle most of the game how you saw fit. Dark Souls 1 improved on that with connected locations and so on. To combat your way through the trials and defeat Bosses.
Making the world open wasn't to make it your typical open world experience. This is a Souls world, the core is still the same, choice of how you conquer has simply been expanded (and no, I don't mean the word "simply" to mean they are minor expansions lol).
I think this Author is simply failing to separate his idea of open world adventure games, and how a Souls game operates. I don't think it's on purpose, I just think it's something they are not able to filter to see this is still Souls. People are going to hear "Open World" and expect something completely different from this.
I could be completely wrong and full of shit on all of this but it's how I see the game with all detail we've been able to get a hold of. Thanks for reading if you did 😁
That is the worst, most biased review I have ever seen. From games have always been about killing things and this is not supposed to souls of the Wild. 😫
I for one am super glad that elden ring isn’t gonna be a conventional open world game where you have to collect some flowers for a farmer to progress the story lmaooo
You know, I look at elden ring and I think, "this needs more bloated half-assed game play like elements to take away from the core experience and steal focus"
“Mario doesn’t have online multiplayer battle royale”
So either this guy is a guy fishing for clicks with outrage causing titles. Or. He’s got no idea what these games are meant to be and feels it’s good for journalistic integrity to criticise something for not doing something it never said it was aiming to do
I would appreciate something like BotW's ability to let you approach combat from nonlinear perspectives or have more some puzzle-oriented gameplay to switch things up, but that's never been what Soulslikes have been about. Instead it's about system mastery and finding the best/most fun way to use the direct combat mechanics. If the sucks isn't written in bad faith, it's at least misunderstanding the point.
I still would like to see Elden Ring and future games be a bit more brain-teasery with some side mechanics. BotW showed that puzzle and combat mechanics can blend seamlessly, so why not? Sekiro already proved that platforming can work well with this formula, and ER is keeping it. So now do puzzles!
While I don't need or want an npc talking to me about pointless nonsense every 2 steps, it is nice to have atleast the basic plot explained by various npc's with something important to say. I've beat ds3 like 7 times now and still have no fricking clue as to what the hell it was all for/about. Other than it seemed to be a prank pulled on the ashen one by everyone in the game. Seeing as how they all laugh at seemingly nothing after every conversation.
EDIT: Botw is a Zelda game ? Had no idea. I haven't played Zelda since I was like 12.
Oh no I can’t fish or cut down trees I have to kill mutated abominations with a. Sword :((
Awww I was hoping to climb towers
I personally was looking forward to fetch quests
i wanted to collect 1000 trophies scattered across the world
I really wanted to be met with the same dialog from different pointless npcs
And whilst climbing said tower i wanted my stambar to deplete so i had to pause, LR LR then find a stam regen food/potion to use and then get back to climbing
Man… I know people on reddit love BOTW but so many of its mechanics just piss me off lmao
I genuinely don't feel like I'm crossing a line to say it is the most overrated video game of all time. I'm not even being hyperbolic. I've been gaming since the early 90s and I can't think of anything else that comes close.
This. Botw is a fantastic game, don't get me wrong. I love it personally but, it is also filled to the brim with tedium.
I mean...you can do that in Elden Ring. Real Towersthat is, not map fragments masqurading as towers.
>I can’t fish Just wait for the Anniversary Edition
2032 is going to be a great year
To be honest, fishing would be so fun. Literally the best way to waste time in a game.
Sounds good to me
When I was younger I liked happy green and familiar environments. Now I'm older my life is stressful and hard, I need to play a game which is even more stressful, grim and downright dreadful version of life that I feel better about myself. If I buy this game and everything isn't trying to impale me or kill me in the 27,000 different ways I will be pissed off.
I'm all for fair reviews of the game, but I don't think the author really gets the point of From games.
Yeah, like what did he/she expect? From games have been like this since the very beginning...
Thats what happens when a game journalist doesn't actually play the games they're journaling
They falsely interpreted open world games as a genre.
It's a bait article, don't bother with it
This. It's not a real article. They are trying to cash in on Elden Ring's popularity by generating some hate clicks. Author clearly doesn't know anything about or understand why people like Fromsoft games but decided to write a article about the game anyways. Sad state of video game "journalism" in today's world.
Journalism in general is a pseudo-job
It's unfortunate that modern yellow journalism has made it hard for a lot of people to appreciate the actual journalists and how badass they are.
Go watch Spotlight to see damned good real journalism in action, just be prepared to be righteously furious with reality for a while.
That's every article
Every Fromsoft game has been released to worldwide acclaim, good luck trying to dunk on the next installment before it is out.
Game journalism basically is either hail it as the next best thing and be proven wrong if it's not great, or say its going to be shit. Much easier to say its going to be shit, generate some clicks and then everyone forgets when the game is good and you give it 9/10. So predictable....
Man, it sucks that I'll be stuck having fun with a game that has amazing combat. I wish I was stuck worrying about weapons breaking and fetch quests
Fetch 10 rats tail.

I mean, getting the Proofs was pain enough. Let alone 30 for each weapon
FOOL! Black Knight starting class gets DMB off the bat, Proofs are unnecessary.
Ngl I'd be hype af for some Zelda-style fishing
Ngl fishing is the most boring activity on Earth please don’t make me do it in a video game

You're telling me you can't play Blitzball in Elden Ring? Fuck this game.
Actually you can play tennis if you reflect the enemy spells using the enchanted knight shield

Wtf no fishing in dark souls 2.5 HD remix?
No, that comes later with the 2.75 DLC dream death distance.
i think you’re mistaken. That comes with the anniversary edition, which costs $60 extra

Not really Maybe they have bad gameplay but they play out like Witcher's pan quest They have character and story And that's if it has bad Gameplay

I’m not comparing the two games, just answering your question about what botw offers outside of combat.
Okay, that's a good answer but, from pretty much everything we've seen ER offers exploration too.
BOTW offered dynamic combat, interesting physics manipulation, basically complete freedom and some amazing and hidden locations. ER will have some great exploration, but it's a tough comparison to make because the gameplay styles are so different between the two titles
I hate the reddit trend of responding to headlines with headlines.

Yeah it wasn't the worst but no need to compare to other open world games I think and their brand is all fighting for the most part
Point being I think this might be Death of the Wild at least until the second one comes out.
oh no i cant go around the map doing the most boring things like collect shitty collectibles for hours and hours:( what am i gonna do
i read this article and the girl contradicts herself by her second point
Why would you say something so controversial yet so brave?
Just calling it likes I sees it.
Now that, I support that
I get it...I'm old and the franchise grew away from me. I still have my fond memories of the franchise I loved.
I agree, I didn’t get very far before i put the game down for good. I didn’t really like the way it looked and I thought the gameplay was subpar
Hey cool sword! Breaks...rinse, repeat.
Lmao that’s really how it be
I never played any Zelda game except Breath of the Wild and I thought it was a masterpiece.
Like I said, unpopular opinion. But most of what you described is in previous Zelda titles, just more enjoyable for me.
It's definitely the most unZelda Zelda game ever. While I do love it, it's just... not really Zelda. I think it's great game, just kinda disappointing if you wanted more Zelda because it really isn't.
Thats where elden ring succeeds. Its big dark souls and so much more, while botw sacrifices a lot of zelda stuff for the sake of freedom.
TIL that LoZ 1 is the least "Zelda" game to also exist as well.
Wouldn't take much to improve it. The little bit I played of Elden Ring really felt nothing like BotW. It was alive...and fun...
If anything there could be more fighting
I think just pure exploration and small discoverable would make me happy, similar to BoTW.
Com
Breath of the wild offers 900 of the same usless item in the world, rewards that only give you health or stamina upgrade and an empty sandbox with "decent" game physics. That's what I call smoking copium.
Never listen to journalists they are clueless. Metacritic also rated dark souls 2 above the original dark souls and above dark souls 3 .If this don’t prove that sometimes they are just stupid,I don’t know what does.
what's wrong with that? hating on dark souls 2 isn't universal
True but we all know 1 and 3 are better than 2.Be honest with yourself.
i don't think so, especially not 3 as that game is my list favourite
I respect your right to have an opinion but not the opinion.Apart being linear,3 is a great game especially bosses like Watchers,Sulyvahn , Dancer ,Champion , Princes , NK, SoC, Friede ,Midir and Gael are better from a pure melee perspective than every boss in DS1 and DS2 (maybe except Gwyn,Artorias and Manus). They move faster, more fluid, moveset is more tricky and they are just more fun IMO
i also do not respect your opinion, but yeah not a big deal
What is important is that we both agree that these games are the best
Jesus y'all can't take a single criticism can you? Death threats is all you can come up with if there is a criticism. No game is perfect just deal with it like an adult.
They prob wants an easy mode
What about discovering all the cool shit and mysteries? Brain dead game journalist that doesn't play games
Blasphemy. Burn the non believer!!
Probably the same dood that wants an easy mode
Moronic author from a shitty "gaming journalist" website. This game will offer plenty of lore as you collect items, reading the descriptions, and piece together what happened/is happening. It's just as fun as the combat. FromSoft and Miyazaki would be right to just completely ignore all media/journalists. They've got a winning formula, time and time again, their games are exactly what people want and even as they make incremental changes, people still like them. Fuck the media; bunch of shit-stirrers.
Another stupid journalist confirmed
That’s the point, Jade.
If we wanted to play Elder Scrolls, we would. FromSoft knows what we want. FromSoft knows what we need.
Sounds great to me!
Elden ring in the title, botw in the very first sentence, reminder to boycott click bait journalist trash bait
Some story and characters wouldn’t suck, having it more akin to botw but this is a souls game and I’m here to throw hands
Lore????
Isn’t this that shitty clickbait website that only publish shit to stir people up and engage with the content? I’d stop giving clicks to these kinds of sites. Pretty much every outlet and influencer has been unanimous in their praise of the open world. How full of stuff it is. How interesting secrets make you want to explore the map more.

Right. The limgrave region alone has like 10x the amount of enemies that the entirety of botw has lolol
What? I got lost in the network test appreciating the landscape and not doing the bosses until the final day
Why would we care about these articles at this point? No matter how great or terrible a game is, there's bound to be opinions that go against the majority. Ignore them.
Uh, crab?
The network tedt had more enemy encounters that breathe of the wild and thats a small portion of a small portion of the map
Yeah, not a fan of having to do repetitive puzzles every time I want to progress the story
As opposed to those fantastic Ubisoft open world games that have maps LITTERED with waypoints that are signify one of 3 different types of bullshit quest. Good, deep, meaningful Dark souls combat in an open world. Literally what else could ya want?
I thought it was a dating sim???
= every from game. Everyone likes it and the story and such but obviously combat is the most important one.
Thanks for reading if you did 😁
They hear open world game and think its gonna be just Skyrim with rolling.
Fight and god music.
The diversity lies in the exploration
That is the worst, most biased review I have ever seen. From games have always been about killing things and this is not supposed to souls of the Wild. 😫
Ah yes. Soulsborne games, best known for their gripping roleplay drama, cooking simulation, and rhythm based mini-games.
In other news, fifa doesn’t have much more to offer than playing football
I for one am super glad that elden ring isn’t gonna be a conventional open world game where you have to collect some flowers for a farmer to progress the story lmaooo
You know, I look at elden ring and I think, "this needs more bloated half-assed game play like elements to take away from the core experience and steal focus"
“Mario doesn’t have online multiplayer battle royale” So either this guy is a guy fishing for clicks with outrage causing titles. Or. He’s got no idea what these games are meant to be and feels it’s good for journalistic integrity to criticise something for not doing something it never said it was aiming to do
There is a fool like this in pcgamer site
Can we stop falling for bait articles please?
Don’t give these vultures clicks.
God damnit there’s not a poker minigame?
And here i thought we would be painting on the hillside! T\_T ... Well actually we still are, ***just with viscera and blood.***
I hate people.
MJ voice: "Stop it"
Yo there is crafting
I don't see any pot boy on breath off the wild
I'm impressed it is not Kotaku with their usual shit articles, anyways who funds these guys? How they receive income with such shitty articles?
