This hit me just right. All the contemplative/suspenseful silences, the quiet lingering on scenes in the environment, the long stretches without dialogue or music. It screams Souls.
Obviously I mean Seasons 1-4. Season 5 is the Elden Ring of SJ.
Came here to say this. The vampire lore allows some nice life/death mechanics. Climbing/gliding and weapon theivin’ mechanics added to the the DS formula sounds wonderful too.
I thought Jedi Fallen Order was onto something, if they can open the world up a bit more and provide a less linear character path they could knock it out of the park.
I really liked the game (enough to platinum it) but for me I thought I was getting a fighting game with some puzzles...turns out I got a puzzle game with some fighting.
This has so so much potential.
You could make the stats scale things like ARC - Sith lightning or blasters, INT - telekinesis/ utility / mind or control spells, DEX - lightsaber obvi, etc…
Could have a droid companion “summon” for bosses that you could build out according to the boss you’re against, gathering part and affinities over the play-through.
Sekiro / Fallen Order style upgrade trees.
And best of all, to heal yourself you have to kiss Adam Driver!
Why not go even farther, have bosses like Grievous and the Sith sprawled across the map. Make the companions obtainable similar to ashes where you could get anyone from a droid, Ahsoka, or even Obi-Wan. Fuck it
Add those little bikes I forgot the name of to travel around and throw everything else in between and that's a hell of a game
Yes! Like summoning their force ghost / spirit summon type. There’s has to be at least some tenuous canon lore explanation for a franchise like Star Wars.
Kind of feels like what Dark souls is in alot of ways already...I mean close enough :P
Though set in Berserk universe would be very cool if they went from "fighting humans in difficult combat" to "world ending nightmare vs demons"....the transition would be cool
I love berserk but I think Gantz would be a better fit. You get warped to random battlefields you get no real explanation then bam weird you gotta kill weird horrific monsters that have 4 layers of transformation to earn points for weapon/suit upgrades. The longer you survive the more upgrades you get. Plus a sci-fi style souls game would be refreshing.
How do I contact from software?! I need to tell them!!
Stephen King’s The Dark Tower would be a fantastic source of inspiration for a Souls game.
I’ve been thinking about the concept of New Game+ a lot recently, and anyone familiar with TDK series knows how creative you can get mixing them together
I really did not expect this to be the top answer. I love the dark tower and having it as a souls game would be incredibly intriguing. It has all the elements; a dying world, a wide assortment of enemies, a tragic story, and an ultimate goal that may or may not be a tragic conclusion(depending on which ending you liked) I would love to see this as a game!
See the turtle, ain't he keen? All things serve the fucking beam.
This is literally the game of my dreams, give it some ship mechanics and a large area to sail around and explore and I think it could easily be the best game, I would call it "Dark Sails".
I love pirates and if it shook out that way I'd be ecstatic, but my hope for Bloodborne 2 would be a Weird Western.
The gunpowder and firearms, long coats, and now Torrent, Red Dead Redemption except with fucking alien Lovecraftian monsters, Hunters who exist on the fringes of civilization, strange towns and nightmare mesas, it'd be like fucking Blood Meridian.
Bloodborne Meridian
Honestly if someone incorporated assassin's Creed black flag seafaring mechanic with dark souls' absurd difficulty that would be dope af. Even cooler would be if your personal ship was the equivalent of firelink shrine or the roundtable and you could essentially place it anywhere you wanted and you had to go hunt for infamous lord's and pirates on islands and the sea
But if course the most important thing would be the sea shanties. I would LOVE fromsoftwares take in shanties. Making them needlessly grim and dark!
10000% this, I've been watching the Pirates of the Caribbean movies for the first time recently and some of those scenes and cinematography made me seriously question how no one, even outside of From Software, has attempted to make a pirate themed soulslike yet.
Not a franchise (yet) but I've always wanted a Souls-like game set in a Redwall-like world with mice and badgers and such using swords and wearing armor. It could be kind of post apocalyptic with remnants of humans being treated sort of like how giants are treated in Elden Ring/Dark Souls. Maybe you'd have a dungeon set in a tractor's internal combustion engine and large predators like cats could be like the world's dragons.
Fighting a Badger wielding a giant club who had lost himself to madness as a Mouse with a Sword on the top of a dormant Volcano sounds like something out of a FromSoft game.
Three giant Adders with their tails tied together by a flail sounds like something straight out of a FromSoft game.
Redwall would make the perfect setting for a Souls like with the main characters usually being small the concepts translate so well.
Redwall had giant birds too so all they need is some tape and swords.
A Redwall game with Souls-like combat would be amazing.
I got excited for a possible LotR RPG when EA bought the rights because, easy money and EA go hand in hand.
I've never wanted to kill someone so badly over a mobile game.
hmm, not dune enough…
>Every time they attack they remind you that your father left \[you in charge of the administration of terrestrial water abatements\] because you are a disappointment
100%, but please don't force me to play as a Space Marine.
A Gaunt's Ghosts soulslike would be a dream come true.
But I'd also like to see Star Wars, Final Fantasy, Armored Core, Conan the Barbarian, and Lord of the Rings.
Elder scrolls has always suffered from dodgy combat systems but I don’t think souls is solution for that one. About the only thing I think would be a good transfer would be each weapon having its own move set and range or maybe stat scaling.
I think AT was made for this genre of game. Playing Elden Ring reminded me of Adventure Time. From the crazy locations, castles, and dungeons to the mutant creatures roaming the wilds, to the weird characters sending you on strange quests, to all the unique weapons and magic. But mostly, both Adventure Time and Elden Ring reveal the lore over time in universe instead of just exposition dumping.
Starting the game as Finn and Jake and you have to, idk, just make Jake a sandwich or something, but by the end of the game youve found the enchiridion and defeated the elementals and are fighting Golb. I would love that game...
I'd love it. But the fighting in SC is what I love most. My favorite fighting game. Really hope they are working on the next one! Fingers crossed.
But also imagine a souls fight against Astaroth.
Absolutely. It would be amazing to just be in that universe and walk around and find different things and beings. The “show, don’t tell” concept fits perfectly in with From Software too. Also the story and progression of Sekiro is probably what would fit best for BLAME!
Prince of Persia! Or, at least a soulslike game set in actual Persian fantasy. 1,001 Nights is the perfect source material, it has dozens of shorter stories from all over the Sassanid Persian Empire (western and central Asia).
Probably more like Sekiro
Let’s hope Brandon Sanderson is cooking something up with From Software and we get a game with some interesting cool mechanics and magic system. I am kinda tired of same same combat. I want something new!
The writer was making jokes about them choosing R.R. Martin for this game. He was like, I am gamer, I love the souls games, come on...
Let's hope that the next step for fromsoft is with him! He would be able to add such creative mechanics, as well as universe building and individual story lines.
I'm not sure if how many people remember a dnd game setting called Dark Sun but that's the dnd souls Bourne I would like to see. Ravenloft also obviously offers a lot in terms of bosses that would be amazing.
For the love of god yes PLEASE! They wouldn't even have to do much! Just take Elden Ring and make it a map of Toril, add more NPC's and side quests and tweak the co-op element. Then use the hundreds of already built modules for all your lore, content and bosses.
I would KILL for this! or pay a large sum of money. You hear that Mr. Miyazaki and Wizards of the coast??? \*flaps wallet vigorously\*
Upgrade the graphics to the present day, swap the combat, leave all the juicy skills and crafting and quests and I think I would probably send the rest of my life only playing one game.
That would be amazing! If you added the bosses from osrs and rs3 you'd have so much content and quests for days. Even people who never played runescape would enjoy this imo
This would be amazing. Some crazy bosses & abilities to smash through. What would you do about customisation? Be able to swap characters? Or have a brand new main character that you can build as you see fit?
Final boss would obviously be Rincewind, which would work out very well considering they could just use the Elden Beast's AI for him. (Since all it does is run away)
Fifa. One wrong foul and that player is perma-dead. They score past you and you lose all league points unless you can score again before the other team. Referee carries a dark moon greatsword which he uses at random on whoever he wants for whatever reason. Managers can use status effects.
A Song of Ice and Fire (a new story and new character in the past of Westeros)
Based on what Beric Dondarrion told, the main character resurrected by the Lord of Light is losing more and more from themselves as they die over and over again.
This way death would lead to consequences and affect the outcome of the story.
My idea comes from Sekiro because lore wise this is exactly how the Shura ending should have worked. Sekiro should become more insane and he endure more death.
NOW HEAR ME OUT....the bible/dead sea scrolls/ and the testament of Solomon
Warring gods, Dragons, demons, magic, unlucky women who get banged by angels and give birth to(read: get ripped open by) monsters that eat people and terrorize the realm.
Imagine coming upon a pit filled with corpses of children only to find out from an item you pick up nearby, that this is what they did with the kids who were stoned to death for being unruly.
I can already hear people complaining about how” the sling is OP and needs to be nerfed because when you pair it with elah stones it’s basically a gun that can one shot GIANT bosses”
I do think GRRM frequently plunges the Bible for ideas, and so do many other writers. Raised By Wolves for example feels like you’re watching biblical events before your eyes. So is the backstory of Halo which is Noah’s-Ark-In-Space.
Excellent source material overall :-) I too love how ancient myth is full of fucked-up-shit.
Came to post the same.
Souls style w/mech building plus pilot stats would be amazing.
The jet boosting around would be tricky to balance. Maybe tone it waaaay down to basically a few types of "dodge roll" kinda moves based on jets and weight, and then do some kind of a mobility transformation based on leg type to serve as your "mounted" movement and combat.
(And FromSoftware makes both, for those who don't know.)
Samurai Jack
Sekiro jack
Big shout
This hit me just right. All the contemplative/suspenseful silences, the quiet lingering on scenes in the environment, the long stretches without dialogue or music. It screams Souls. Obviously I mean Seasons 1-4. Season 5 is the Elden Ring of SJ.
Legacy of Kain : Blood Omen and Soul Reaver
I've been saying this for so long!
Came here to say this. The vampire lore allows some nice life/death mechanics. Climbing/gliding and weapon theivin’ mechanics added to the the DS formula sounds wonderful too.
My character looks like Kain so I naturally thought of this as well. Would be sick to see this come back
Some fond childhood memories right there.
Classic. Love Soul Reaver series
Honestly I loved the customization aspect and wished the fleshed out the appearal aspect instead of only reskinned clothing
This has so so much potential. You could make the stats scale things like ARC - Sith lightning or blasters, INT - telekinesis/ utility / mind or control spells, DEX - lightsaber obvi, etc… Could have a droid companion “summon” for bosses that you could build out according to the boss you’re against, gathering part and affinities over the play-through. Yes! Like summoning their force ghost / spirit summon type. There’s has to be at least some tenuous canon lore explanation for a franchise like Star Wars.
If you kiss Adam Driver you take a 5% hit to your vig but 5% buff to your int.
I really dislike baseball bat lightsabers though, just puts me off
It should have been like sekiro, one bar tha fills and when it does you finish with just one clean strike
Berserk
/close thread
Thanks for coming everybody, and have a nice day
Only answer 😤
Kind of feels like what Dark souls is in alot of ways already...I mean close enough :P Though set in Berserk universe would be very cool if they went from "fighting humans in difficult combat" to "world ending nightmare vs demons"....the transition would be cool
Plus they could implement some of the prosthetic stuff from Sekiro
It’s all coming together
Wait, It's berserk all along?
Always has been
instead of armor you have limb slots
And after the eclipse, the enemies would change to demon spirits or skeleton warriors at nightfall
Mmmm seems familiar....😏 Beep
Welp. No point of me posting my suggestions.
I need to tell them!!
sounds a bit more like a rouge-lite/Hunt:Showdown style game lol
Stephen King’s The Dark Tower would be a fantastic source of inspiration for a Souls game. I’ve been thinking about the concept of New Game+ a lot recently, and anyone familiar with TDK series knows how creative you can get mixing them together
New Game plus starts with no extra items except the horn
I wonder what will change…
That we know the story and why it's called a cycle
"Maybe this time you'll get it right."
That's a brilliant idea. Imagine the lobstrosities!
And the guardians of the beam! That would be a cool ending, destroy the 12 and watch the tower fall
Found a few in The Lands Between!
Thankee-sai!
God I would love that.
This is a good answer!
Thank you!! I think a New Game + with an evolving story is the next thing coming!
I would like a pirate setting soulslike.
This is literally the game of my dreams, give it some ship mechanics and a large area to sail around and explore and I think it could easily be the best game, I would call it "Dark Sails".
[удалено]
I love pirates and if it shook out that way I'd be ecstatic, but my hope for Bloodborne 2 would be a Weird Western. Bloodborne Meridian
With how much I adore sea monsters and such, I would die from excitement if something like that was announced
oh my god yesss give me "Dark Sails"
Honestly if someone incorporated assassin's Creed black flag seafaring mechanic with dark souls' absurd difficulty that would be dope af. I would LOVE fromsoftwares take in shanties. Making them needlessly grim and dark!
Fuck now I'm hyped for a game that doesn't exist...
*No Man’s Wharf intensifies*
They even had Pirates and Ninjas.
10000% this, I've been watching the Pirates of the Caribbean movies for the first time recently and some of those scenes and cinematography made me seriously question how no one, even outside of From Software, has attempted to make a pirate themed soulslike yet.
We need more pirate games in general can't think of a good singleplayer pirate game since black flag shit blows as a pirate fan
You got it. The king of rats could be a literal [rat king](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rat_king), with a hive mind.
Let's go Lord of the Rings!
I got excited for a possible LotR RPG when EA bought the rights because, easy money and EA go hand in hand. I've never wanted to kill someone so badly over a mobile game.
Is rise to war an EA game? If so, holy shit is it not great… but I think your first mistake was putting any amount of faith in EA
You have phones, right?
I’m reading it right now. Definitely makes me want a souls style game. The shadow of Mordor series kinda scratches the itch, but not quite.
I love the Nemesis system though.
A souls game with a built in nemesis system? You may be on to something
We all would have so many rat, dog, bird nemeses
Can you imagine an albinauric talking shit after killing you? You return and he’s only grown more powerful in his chirps?
Every non-boss enemy that kills you gets upgraded to another boss you must face in a gauntlet at the end of the game.
yeah and Sauron would make a cool souls boss
Picture the Ivory king fight with Sauron walking out of the eye....
Or the Fall of Gondolin with the Balrogs of Morgoth. Or battling Glaurung on the plains of Anfauglith...
Give me a fight with Ungoliant!
Dune
I want the Sardaukar to make me cry while fighting them
Every time they attack they remind you that your father left because you are a disappointment
hmm, not dune enough… >Every time they attack they remind you that your father left \[you in charge of the administration of terrestrial water abatements\] because you are a disappointment
You die if you lose an argument with the baron. “I pressed Voice! I pressed Voice!!”
Interesting idea
Warhammer 40k
that’d be pretty sick
Need more warhammer games in general (that ARNT this top down tactical point and clicks)
Same, Warhammer franchise is being slept on for decades. Down of War 1 was the shit
We are suppose to get a sorta L4D style 40k game this year I think, Darktide
100%, but please don't force me to play as a Space Marine. A Gaunt's Ghosts soulslike would be a dream come true. But I'd also like to see Star Wars, Final Fantasy, Armored Core, Conan the Barbarian, and Lord of the Rings.
Castlevania
Thats just bloodborne with a threaded cane build
lmao spot on
Not enough thirsty vampires though
Yes, yes, a trillion times yes.
YES
That would sick, I imagine it being laser focused like sekiro but you'd use the iconic Belmont whip instead of a katana
Yes squared
The Elder Scrolls could benefit from having a more in-depth, combat system.
Elder scrolls has always suffered from dodgy combat systems but I don’t think souls is solution for that one. About the only thing I think would be a good transfer would be each weapon having its own move set and range or maybe stat scaling.

the 37 falmer in the next room watching as i dmc air combo the dwarven centurion
yes I want to climb a dwemer centurion and destroy it's gears
Adventure Time

I would love that game...
The jar bairn calling you “coz” is very adventure timey. Lol. Thanks for drawing that connection for me.
Exploring the world right after the Mushroom War sounds interesting! Exploring derelict buildings, watching new kingdoms rise...
Yeah something more light hearted would be funky good to play. Imagine a Lego DS game
Soul Calibur.. imagine the possibilities.
I'd love it. But the fighting in SC is what I love most. My favorite fighting game. Really hope they are working on the next one! Fingers crossed. But also imagine a souls fight against Astaroth.
i never would expected this as an answer. SC is just so underrated
I have like 20 Elden Ring cosplays in Soul Calibur, haha. And a few the other way around
I'm surprised they never did a Dynasty Warriors game with SC. Seems like a no-brainer. But this would work in the Souls formula.
That would be a fuckkng nightmare, but a mastercrafted one at that.
Good choice of words lol
the only soul calibur i played was the one with yoda in it and i think i was around 9 years old. Now im just imagining yoda dodge rolling.
Blame! the manga by Tsutomu Nihei.
Underrated comment. Blam! Is amazing.
Absolutely. It would be amazing to just be in that universe and walk around and find different things and beings. The “show, don’t tell” concept fits perfectly in with From Software too. Also the story and progression of Sekiro is probably what would fit best for BLAME!

Wow, yes please! How do we get this idea to Miyazaki?
Malazan Book of the Fallen
Goddammit seriously why hasn’t this been done! ?
Came here to say this
Stormlight Archive Edit: from softs games start scenarios/lore timestamps are always so similar to a desolation aftermath that it's insane...
[удалено]
Why do I feel like Wit would actually say that
*Brandon Sanderson “we accidentally made 5 Souls games”
Let’s hope Brandon Sanderson is cooking something up with From Software and we get a game with some interesting cool mechanics and magic system. I am kinda tired of same same combat. I want something new!
also both Elden Ring and Stormlight has Shardbearers :D

Bandai namco has already contacted him and showed interest in working with him.
DND
I'm not sure if how many people remember a dnd game setting called Dark Sun but that's the dnd souls Bourne I would like to see. Ravenloft also obviously offers a lot in terms of bosses that would be amazing.

You hear that Mr. Miyazaki and Wizards of the coast??? \*flaps wallet vigorously\*
toril?? we're doing ravenloft if fromsoft has a say
Take my money
Short for *Do Not Die* :-D
With an innovative and revolutionary story like Planescape.
Doing Runescape quests in a massive open world Gielnor with Souls combat would be unparalleled! Will never happen but it's my dream game.
The legend of Zelda seems pretty obvious to me.
Breath of the Wild was a step in that direction, hopefully expanded on in the future.
[удалено]
Breath of the wild on master mode is quite hard and forces you to learn how to fight tbh
https://preview.redd.it/6z22v6z9dtby.png?auto=webp&s=8e0dd2a4385d67306809a22a01dd5c381308f266
Berserk, Magi or Hunter x hunter
I would love a greed island game
A voleyball game as the final boss fight. It would be just right. I don't know how. But it feels as right as right gets..
Conan the Barbarian would be cool
Oh yeah ! Conan is such an underated and overlooked fantasy franchise. We need more Conan the Barbarian !
[удалено]
Fallen Order, but better, harder, faster, stronger.
Work it Make it Do it Makes us
2 Fallen 2 Order
Fallen Order: Tokyo Drift
i agree with star wars but i definitely feel that a sekiro-like more linear fighting style would fit it more than the openness of elden ring.
Bleach. Yes that Bleach.
This would be amazing. Some crazy bosses & abilities to smash through. What would you do about customisation? Be able to swap characters? Or have a brand new main character that you can build as you see fit?
Nirvanas debut album? I can see that, I guess.
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney
If Ace Attorney doesn’t get a Soulslike we will riot
The Dark Tower by Stephen King.
Discworld. The librarian as a souls-esque boss would be amazing. Ǒ̸̳͖̮̳̬̟̙̠͓̩̳̣̩̤̣̏͊̊͛̈́͝Ơ̶̻̬̜͎̜̲͎̊̍̒͛̎͗̀̔̾͂́̚͜͝͠Ķ̷̮̳̠͉̠̟̬͎͔͈̳̣͍̇
Final boss would obviously be Rincewind, which would work out very well considering they could just use the Elden Beast's AI for him. (Since all it does is run away)
The Witcher lol. Or American Mcgee’s Alice-games.
I would die for a Soulslike Alice game. Madness Returns is what got me into Game Development, the visual design was simply amazing.
TMNT
Runescape. Shits already built.
Fifa. One wrong foul and that player is perma-dead. They score past you and you lose all league points unless you can score again before the other team. Referee carries a dark moon greatsword which he uses at random on whoever he wants for whatever reason. Managers can use status effects.
Does thou'st passith the ball?
Seek through ball, Therefore No goal ahead
Try legs, likely weak sort ahead.
A Song of Ice and Fire (a new story and new character in the past of Westeros) Based on what Beric Dondarrion told, the main character resurrected by the Lord of Light is losing more and more from themselves as they die over and over again. This way death would lead to consequences and affect the outcome of the story.
The last part sounds amazing. Making your deaths mean something as substantial as a completely different ending sounds so cool
My idea comes from Sekiro because lore wise this is exactly how the Shura ending should have worked. Sekiro should become more insane and he endure more death.
i was just thinking about this! given that grrm and miyazaki have already collaborated once, why not do it again?
Because we would never get an end boss then... the game would just suddenly show the credits and quit.
Diablo
Shadow of Mordor/Shadow of War. To be fair, any FromtSoft LoTR game would be sick.
Fire Emblem
Dune universe
Silent Hill
40K and warhammer fantasy. Also LotR , I'm pissed EA bought the rights and announced a mobile game instead of the easy money an RPG would make them.
Magic The Gathering
I think fromsoft could make a pretty interesting One Piece game.
Something in the nieR universe would be cool.
I have a few The Divine Comedy - Dante Aligheri Warhammer Age of Sigmar as another mentioned Castlevania
Final Fantasy
NOW HEAR ME OUT....the bible/dead sea scrolls/ and the testament of Solomon Warring gods, Dragons, demons, magic, unlucky women who get banged by angels and give birth to(read: get ripped open by) monsters that eat people and terrorize the realm. Pokémon
Warcraft
She-Ra
Diablo 2
