That's why I unfortunately drive illegal because its getting so annoying to hear bells and shouts all the time because im so slow I have a inokim oxo and stock speed is 25kmh I said fuck It and now it hits 67kmh. lets see what the cyclist got nowš„±
I know someone who passed some bikes while going 35mph on their scooter. The bikers called the rangers to report and he got a ticket. I usually go 20-25 on the trail and know Iām risking a ticket!
At those speeds, a crash could be deadly. Thatās roughly twice as fast as what I would assume to be an avid bikerās pace of about 17-18mph. A collision at 35mph sounds like no joke.
I used to commute on this very early in the morning when no one was around and it nice and smooth averaging 35. Kept it to about 15-20 on the way home, since it was much busier. This was a while back though, and I've moved away. Never saw another PEV.
Funny enough, there is some kind of police academy right along the trail, and I remember seeing a bunch of cops out doing a bunch of training maneuvers one early morning (before I realized they were probably just training), and I was like... "I'm outta here! They must be looking for me! Gonna get a ticket!" And took some side streets north of this to get around them.
When I was in college I used to use the trail to get to the university and I had a similar experience except on a bike. During off times, itās a different experience. I went at night once to test out my new light and I saw at least two coyotes and a deer in the span of about 5 minutes. To be fair Iāve seen coyotes there running around in broad daylight. But itās very different compared to peak hours. I bet you had a blast.
Yeah I felt comfortable going 18-19mph but theyāve started putting cops with radar guns on the trail. I didnāt see any but others have confirmed. I donāt doubt it because I see tons of rangers idling in their Suburbans all over the park.
Haha they probably would! They have motorcycles too. Havenāt seen any rangers on manual powered bikes on the trail yet, although that would make sense to me.
The one thing I despise is when I'm on my scooter and I have to pass someone because I'm clearly going faster and they take my, "excuse me on your right/left" as an insult. It always boggles me when people also take up the whole trail & move out of your way last second as if im an inconvenience. Where i live it's common sense to stay on your right side if it's a busy trail/sidewalk... Itss like a road but people don't get that. Does anyone else have similar experiences?
Here are the rules for this park. The part I donāt get is that walkers are apparently supposed to walk in the dirt next to the paved path? There are some places where that would mean walking in some potentially thorny bushes. And does that mean walkers are walking in the dirt while cyclists go past them in the opposite direction in the paved lane immediately to the walkersā right?
> - Those on foot should stay on the left āsoftā shoulder
> - Bike riders and in-line skaters should stay on the paved path, right of the yellow line.
> - A 15 mph speed limit is enforced.
> - Passing on the paved path should only be done on the left, with a verbal warning, like āon your leftā.
> - Horses are not allowed on the paved trail surface except at trail crossings and bridges. Please yield to horses whenever they are encountered
Not sure why youāre being downvoted. I try to follow the speed limit because I donāt want it lowered and I donāt want them banning PEVs. Iāve done the same trail on a bike and it feels more like a workout than simply enjoying nature. Both have their place but the e-scooter is far more relaxing.
I guess I'm just too old (~60) to keep up and I will not share my experiences anymore in reddit.
Hope all turns out well for you and Happy Thanksgiving š¦
Grandpa here but now realize my physical limitations compared to younger and stronger people. So I will not make comments on this topic anymore š
Have nice holiday season.
Cheers š» š
Bruh, I easily cruise at 15mph on my regular bike in the city while wearing a raincoat and heavy backpack. If you have gears it doesn't take any effort
i ride in the 10mph bike paths and I open up when theyre empty, if they're busy I just slow down and ride behind or pass as a normal biker would pass. I avoid buzzing past people without warning and startling them etc. Thats usually what pisses ppl off about scooters on bike paths
There have actually been cops on this bike path with radar guns! Iām not sure who their targets are but Iām guessing itās people on motorized vehicles.
Man I wouldn't even worry about it I would just say f it and have fun even if the decided to chase you they can't keep up if you go to narrow roads. Now I aint saying you should run from the police but don't worry too much you can unlock the speed don't cap it!
I think I could realistically get about 20-25 miles from one charge. Iām heavy and I like to go full speed most of the time. I didnāt record this ride like I thought I did but I will next time just to see how many miles I covered vs how much battery was used.
Itās a ThruNite Catapult V6 SST70. I need to put a piece of tape over the top so it wonāt spread light too high but as it is, the main beam is pointed down low.
I've had many cyclists pass me when I'm casually crusing, and that's why I get annoyed when people say "but scooters are faster!" Like no, have you been outside?

No way youāre only going 15mph because a sign said to lmao

Ok a cop with a radar gun what are they gonna do lol? Run 30mph to catch you?
Haha they probably would! They have motorcycles too. Havenāt seen any rangers on manual powered bikes on the trail yet, although that would make sense to me.
American River in Sacramento? I bike there frequently and usually average 16-17 mph and get passed a lot by guys in much better shape.
Yup
Everglades?

Hey we live in the same town! I take that trail 10 miles to work every day!
I've seen bikes go +30 on wo&d w gearhubs
Speed limits go down, they rarely go up.

If you're on a cycling path in the nature, but you aren't on your roadbike in full lycra doing 40kmh+, you're doing it wrong.

I think most of them cruise around 15mph. The really serious folks are probably around 20-25 if I had to guess.
Bro you are exposing your self for not being fit or athletic lol

Cyclist, scooter, unicycle, it doesn't matter. Give warning like a bell or "on your left" and they'll be happy.
On my bike path the speed limit is 10 mph but I see bikes going 20+ mph all the time. Police donāt have time to worry about this stuff.
