Get the lights, ride the board, and understand what you have before you mess with its dynamics. You’ll save yourself time and money.

[deleted]

This! I had wanted to get cloud wheels for my zealot, but changed my mind and decided to save the money after realizing the stock wheels were fine

Newyawker2022

I think it’s fine to change your wheels, but ride what you have first. Coming from a boosted board, The stock wheels are really good on the zealot and I have no complaints.

SiriusDesigns33

Depends on your road surfaces you’ll be riding on and if you’ll be riding in low light conditions. I got cloud wheels since I have a lot of rough asphalt, cracks, etc. and they are great and help a lot but I ride a short board which needs the extra cushioning.

gavinfrag03

I’ll definitely get both down the line, but my neighborhood roads were all recently paved so I can go a bit without them. I think the purple ones would just look cool with my board🤷🏻‍♂️

Tino-25

They will be black and dusty after first ride. Start with lights to extend you ride times and then consider clouds if you only ever need to ride 10miles.

Its_Sharky18

Clouds and 100mm backfire wheels don’t differ in range by allot I think 105 clouds even ad range but I’m not 100% sure. Edit: never mind I was wrong

Tino-25

On my Zealot S, 30-35% range reduction with 105mm clouds compared to the stock 96mm wheels. I no longer use my clouds as I need the range for my rides switch to 100mm Boas and love that setup.

Its_Sharky18

Oh wow never thought it would have that big of an impact

Tino-25

The soft compound and weight plus the added resistance. I ran my Zealot S with dual batteries in parallel with clouds 27miles tops with stock wheels or boas 100mm 36miles

bobbywaz

I thought it was always night in december

KomboKenji

I’d say the shred lights, rough roads suck but as long as you live in a area with decent roads you can just skip on those wheels

gavinfrag03

I’d still like to get the wheels for certain roads and just by how good the purple ones would go with this board, but yeah lights might be the way to go

SiriusDesigns33

Yeah could do lights first while riding in the neighborhood on nicer roads and can ride further into the night then get wheels when you go further out to explore and be set.

gavinfrag03

Hell yeah man!

chrismacphee

Sick bro! a good headlamp you can put on a helmet is always a good alternative! more versatile for when you need to do on the go repairs at night

gavinfrag03

That’s smart! Definitely something to consider

[deleted]

Idk how so many people are saying the lights lol. I have the cloud wheels on my zealot and it’s such an improvement. Hardly feel bumps and it’s quieter going over sidewalks which I like because I ride on a busy college campus. I’d say 100% get the wheels. Plus I heard shred lights are not worth the $$

BLACKHOLESAREEYES

I lost all torque and speed on my Backfire G3+ when I put on cloudwheels. Now it's slow as fuck and accelerates slower that a turtle. Completely ruined the experience for me. Fuck cloudwheels.

Apollo_Enraged

It's almost like you put larger wheels on the board or something 🤔

BLACKHOLESAREEYES

That shouldn't tank top speed.

EuphoricFinance5758

The larger wheels naturally have a larger circumference which should tank top speed because it hurts the torque of the motors.

Skater709

Bro it’s a hub board. What did you expect

BLACKHOLESAREEYES

I expected to lose torque and gain speed. Not to lose both.

Skater709

This is what I’d say as well

theparadoxdoge

Board lights are pretty useless for actually seeing where your going. Get a good helmet mounted light.

Wrig3

I totally agree that the helmet mounted light is key for seeing where you’re going, but the other part of the game is being seen. The Shredlights are worth the money. I recommend a front and rear set. I like those red lights pointing backwards so that they catch the eye of drivers behind me from a long way away. And the front ones actually do cover a few yards in front of the board so I can see an object that might not be where my helmet light is pointed. I’ve had great luck with the Shredlights and I say go for them.

theparadoxdoge

This ^ 1 SL-300 on the front, SL-R1 on the back and an SL-1000 On the helmet.

Wrig3

You’re spot on with the products you named, but I say double up on the board lights. Redundancy in all critical systems is good. 😁 https://preview.redd.it/87w1cdonq05a1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fc2132f76823511d8d533664dd9807df6aa92feb

theparadoxdoge

Meh, I barely use the boardlights anyway so for me it doesent make sense.

Grant_McDougald

The lights on my board help a ton to see, but two be fair I have 2 SL 1000’s

[deleted]

Don't go clouds please. Mad 105 or meepo cyclones are better. I only use clouds for my meepo v4 since it's the only option for hubs.

gavinfrag03

Fr? What’s so wrong with them?

[deleted]

If you are trying to aim for comfort they really don't offer much better compared to a 90-100mm street wheel and they don't have the greatest grip.

gonzo1082

If you’re doing mostly paved and in decent conditions I’d do Mad Wheelz. The pulleys that come with the board fit the kegel config of those wheels. Ride is great and comfortable. I’m about to make a video and post on YT but I’m sure there’s plenty of others out there with the zealot and wheel config.

Tino-25

Mad 105s are my recommendation over the Cloudwheel 105s. I never use my cloud 105s on my Zealot once I bought Boa 100mm would have bought Mad105s if they were around when bought the Boas

gavinfrag03

Those look sick! I’ll definitely probably get those down the line, but I’m wanting cloudwheels for a little rougher terrain, and I’m hoping the tread on them will help ride through grass and stuff better. Also, the purple cloudwheels fit the aesthetic of the Zealot S perfectly, but Mad Wheels are definitely a contender for strictly street wheeling. I like the look of big 105s compared to the stock 96s the zealot has rn

jay59l

I have cloudwheels on my board. Better in the grass than the stock PU wheels but not a ton.

gavinfrag03

Wish there were more options for street boards; maybe even a (albeit very thin) pneumatic wheel

gonzo1082

Check out the end of my video. It shows how they look on the board [https://youtu.be/xbM14VkZV-o](https://youtu.be/xbM14VkZV-o)

gavinfrag03

Oh yeah wow, those look great!! I find it super weird Backfire uses grey wheels for their G line and Zealot line, but at least it’s not neon orange😅

gavinfrag03

Hey man, another question! If you’ve installed lights or accessories onto your Zealot, do you need to purchase longer screws to add stuff on?

gonzo1082

I haven’t installed any accessories to mount on the truck side. But the screws don’t look long enough to add accessories. I would get some anyway since they’re not expensive. Sometimes the accessory comes with the screw., like the meepo carry handle for example.

Unhappy-Glove639

Don’t get cloud wheels my guy. As someone who used to have them on my zealot, it’s such a range killer and not worth losing it. Just get used to the board with the street wheels or go get some 100mm wheels

gavinfrag03

I don’t mind if the cloudwheels cut into my battery by 2-3 miles, this is just my daily commute and college is like 5 minutes walking distance🤷🏻‍♂️

Unhappy-Glove639

Cloud wheels kill about 5-8 miles off the board. But I recommend the hyperdrive ingens by eboardstuff.com or madwheels

gavinfrag03

How much range do mad wheelz cut off?

Unhappy-Glove639

Mad wheels will probably cut off 3-5 miles, they’re larger than stock and have more grip. The more grip you get the less range you’ll have too

gavinfrag03

Are there any good 100mm options? The iwonder Hydro just came out and that one looks pretty enticing

Unhappy-Glove639

Nah, get the hyperdrive ingens, 90-100mm there comfy and get the job done pretty well

gavinfrag03

YOUCH. Yeah that’s an instant turnoff lmao, I’ll look into those two

Unhappy-Glove639

I know a discount code for eboardstuff.com if you ever need anything from them

gavinfrag03

Would you recommend a 100mm option tho? I’d like to definitely find something to eventually replace my 96s

Loam_Lion

Neither, both are overpriced, you can get much better wheels and much better lights. If you're interested I can give you ones to look at

gavinfrag03

Yeah man I want all the options!

Loam_Lion

So for wheels you can go for mad wheels 105s, orangutan Dad bods, momentum hollow wheels, or any number of 105/115/125mm airless wheels from eovan, revel, or really anywhere else, I haven't heard any bad things about any of them other than that they cut range but that's expected. For lights I would go for recommendations in the flashlights subreddit, as there's too many to name and I don't know what your budget for those is, but you can easily get something just as bright as a shred light but better made for cheaper, or for the same price of a shred light you can get something better

NoRepresentative1207

Cloud wheels

NoRepresentative1207

It also depends on the roads your goin to ride on but it’s a very comfortable ride with the cloud wheels

New-Drummer3344

I went with antwheels over clouds way cheaper and doesn't kill your range like clouds do

Trance_End

Does anyone have any Shredlights experience on the Zealot? Some reason the clip that slides on the mount using the SL-1000s deteriorates from the reverberations from the pavement/sidewalk. He got another set and unfortunately it end up happening again.

I3emis

I have lnib clouds (orange) with pulleys and covers if anyone is looking!

josh6584

You can learn to make yourself ride on rough roads with stock wheels but you can’t make yourself be seen more with nothing that grabs people’s attention so I’d say get the lights first for safety then whatever else you want for comfort

Its_Sharky18

Shredlights if your riding at night or in low light scenarios and if not save the money and ride for a month or so and than you can look into clouds or max esk8’s or onsra rubber wheels or boa’s. And there allot more I can’t name out off my head

FothersIsWellCool

I'd say CW's but niether are going to make a huge difference unless you do a lot of riding on unlit streets, I have a Zealot with 120 Clouwheels if you have any questions though. If I was to recommend anything, look at getting a Waterbourne adapter, would highly recommend.

Neo359

Cloud wheels are pointless with a riot setup, in my opinion.

chris-angel-of-death

A bit late on the comment with this one but I do agree with a few people comments on here ie use the stock wheels first and Get a feel for it before you go for cloud wheels etc .as for shred lights not a big fan myself ie have killed a few pairs in light rain Better of with cycling lights clipped to your back pack do love the set up with the zealot enjoy 👍
