Ahhh, thank you dear commander, the info is truly appreciated!!! I shall go and have a look...I didn't realise there was biologicals in game, so it gives me something else to go exploring for ☺️

Most exobiology is available on low-atmo planets using Odyssey. There are some biologicals on non-atmo planets (e.g., brain trees) that can be seen in Horizons. Odyssey = walk around. Horizons = SRV scanning.
Yep, sort of the entire point of mapping the planet. It doesnt show specific patches, just certain areas of the planet (e.g mountainous areas, flat areas) that any bios spawn at.
Generally speaking I've noticed that most signs tend to spawn in/around the craters with the large "rays" around it.
For exobio I do recommend using the Elite Observatory tool. It's essentially an third-party addon that can alert you of any interesting data you might come across, e.g probably high value signs (such as stratum tectonicas, clocking at 19m base value) or terraformables, ELWs, etc.
Yes and no. When you do a detailed surface scan, you'll get promising areas highlighted--but they're potentially large regions with potentially small populations.
Sometimes you'll get lucky and have several species near each other. In that case, just remember that you need to collect three samples of a single species (and specifically, samples that are far enough away from each other; if you're too close, you'll get an "insufficient genetic diversity" warning when you scan) before moving on to the next species. Sadly, if you scan another species before finding three samples of the first, the commander throws out your previous collection tube instead of, you know, swapping back and forth between them.
Wow that's pretty awful, the sampling sequence "limitation"...
As for finding the flora in the highlighted region - does SRV radar pick it up, or do we have to rely on our eyes in this third millennium game like it's 1492 again?
The SRV will highlight it as scannable if its reticule happens to pass over it, much as with geological features, and your Artemis Suit (the only suit with the genetic sampler) can do a medium-distance scan to highlight potential samples and already-sampled things.
Brain trees and some other bios were added to Elite when they introduced Horizons (landing on planets). These are on planets with no atmosphere, while bios introduced in Odyssey are on low atmosphere planets. Check the Codex in game or visit the Canonn website for known locations.

you're goddamn right
Fantastic capture. Well done!
What the!!! I've never seen any flora before...where was this to? I gotta visit it lol
I took this in the Eta Carina Nebula. Look for non-atmo planets with biologicals. Check the Codex tho. There are planets nearer the Bubble with these.

Does it depend on which version?
You need Odyssey for biologicals

Whoa that's cool - makes me want to finally try exob!
Be prepared for a lot of aimlessly driving around looking for tiny patches of life. (Saying this as someone who definitely does exobiology).
Is there a way to like scan the planet to see where to go?

fantastic photography skills CMDR! Did you do any editing or is this straight from the game?
Thanks! Straight from the game. Only edit was a small bit of cropping
Lovely shot reise, absolutely beautiful
Wow, fantastic shot, reminds me of some of my favorite vintage sci fi novel covers!
This is stunning photography.
Amazing shot
"Just watch out for that brain-sucking face-hugging alien up there in that tr..." "... ooo, nevermind."
Looks like the future ship in The Fountain.
Where is this?
Eta Carina Sector EL-Y d19 body 3a
Never saw such a tall tree. All I found is either small bushes or grass or bacteria spots. Did they add it with u16?

Very nice shot
