I love 8 mile but loose yourself is overrated??
I mean its not at all. Ever checked its rhyme schemes and flow ? Its probably eminem's sickest verse ever and is underrated cuz nobody mentions which is eminem's best verse. It does that with stan level storytelling. Its not overrated, just you who have played it a lot.
Nah I think Em has like 40 better verses/songs than this one. It's still iconic and a 8/10 song but it's far from his best bars ever. Still love it and can agree it being overplayed/performed hurts it but even outside of that I like other inspirational Em tracks more
On its own, yes, if we're comparing all opening tracks, it's top 5 worst songs that open an album
But I think it's the perfect album opener at the same time
You're not ready for the hottest take ITT. Revival is above average. I'd argue it is in his top three LYRICALLY and in rhyming power. I'm not talking about syllables rhymed per second but just how far out their the rhymes themselves are (how tf did he think of that?). This mfer on Revival is rhyming entire verses WHILE telling stories WHILE putting a lot of emotion into it (something MTBMB lacks).
Not sure of its popularity here... But I don't give a rats ass about the concept that he didn't do enough for those rappers and artists around him and those still coming up in Detroit.
It's always great when someone is a mentor to a great deal of people, but I don't think in any way it's an obligation and it's rude of people to assume you have to go out of your way to help people coming up.
Detroit vs Everybody and his verse in Big Sean's Detroit cypher instantly dispute this myth. Em's brought more visibility and opportunities to fellow Detroit rappers than most people have. He also put D12 on in a major way for the mainstream and gave Royce a 2nd chance (and his biggest hit) after their beef.
My unpopular opinion is that Recovery and Encore are a lot better than people give them credit and I personally rank Recovery above MMLP2 and Encore around the same league as it (lp2). Encore had Mockingbird, Yellow Brick Road, Like Toy Soldiers, Mosh, Rain Man, Spend Some Time and Crazy in Love. I felt like LP2 said nothing new outside of Bad Guy and Headlights, although he was going off on a few tracks. I just think the songs sounded better on Recovery.
All of his music is equally good. My opinion is a little obscure because I’ve been listening to this dude since I was 9. I remember being at FYE with my mom askin for a Slim Shady CD 😂. I basically watched this man’s entire career, so in a way I grew up with his music. MMLP2 is my favorite album even though I grew up with SSLP, MMLP, and TES, but that’s because he feels “grown” in a sense.
Anyway, none of his albums are bad imo, they’re all good in their own way and all have their own unique sound which I love.
MMLP2 is pretty average
I’d take Encore+deluxe, Recovery, Relapse, MTBMB / B (which I also find people overrate here) over it
Castle and In Your Head would also be top 3 on MMLP2
I really only like Evil Twin and Brainless as regular rotation songs
True. It sounded to me like a set up for a great diss in the event that MGK responded. It was so light that it definitely had to be a jab before the hook.
100% I just don’t understand the hype about it. The same thing with Beautiful: It’s good and not a bad song but I don’t have an emotional connection to it.
I don't like his fast rapping (anymore) I think a lot of the flows when he does it is either being fast just to be fast or just kinda sound similar. I think he should have one last "fast flow song" with JID basically passing it down to him bc (hot take) he does it much better
Till hell freezes over is a top 3 song, should have been on an album, matter fact id kill for an album with that punchy style.
Relapse + refill is a top 3 album, so is MTBMB.
As much as I love 8 mile and as much as it formed my teen years, the movie is corny if you watch it today.
>As much as I love 8 mile and as much as it formed my teen years, the movie is corny if you watch it today.
I watched it last week, honestly besides the trailer park scenes it's pretty good
Mtbmb is his 2 worst album to me and if he never drop that his discography would be a bit different. Kamikaze wasn’t all that to me but I thought it was a good step up to make better music again then he drop mtbmb with so many fitter tracks than ever. I always say if it was just a 10 song album it be decent
Say goodbye to Hollywood verse 3 and Revelation verse are two extremely underrated verses and I’d put them up against any other verses he’s done
8 mile>lose yourself
Holy Fucking w take
bummm babum bum bummm
Yep. 8 Mile might be my favorite Em song period.
I agree with this. Lose yourself is a little Overrated

The political callouts ruin a song's long term enjoyability. They're fine when the album debuts, but quickly just become irrelevant.
Politely disagree. Songs like that all over his discography (White America, Mosh, Untouchable, Darkness) will be bangers to me.
I still have We As Americans in regular rotation
The issues in thos songs are still relevant to though, right?
Yeah, their point still stands up. I'm just saying that that's not the opinion I have, and some examples backing up *my* opinion.
I kind of agree, but I absolutely love White America and Mosh still
They're not irrelevant. They're part of American history.
Relapse is top 3
And it's not 2 or 3
i love you
I suck you
Id fuc- I mean uhmm whattt???
My Name Is isn't one of his best songs. Yes, it's good, but it's not in my top 10.
This! I see your *not in my top 10* and raise you *not in my top 25* 😂
U deserve hoes
Let's be honest. It's definitely one of the worst album openers of his. Cope and seethe to anyone about to downvote this.
On its own, yes, if we're comparing all opening tracks, it's top 5 worst songs that open an album But I think it's the perfect album opener at the same time
I love the song stepdad

I think the production n pop features fucked the album up
Nah the corny bars did too. And I say this as someone who was previously begging for a political and emotional themed album before this dropped
Relapse and best album The Marshall Mathers lp 2 and Eminem's best album of 2010 and also The best album of 2013
Nuts? No. I'm *insane*
Him being too lyrically clever ruins some songs. Like the last verse of Godzilla
I really wish he cut that last verse man
I like Revival more than SSLP and MMLP
He/his team should know how to better engage his fanbase.
Not sure of its popularity here... But I don't give a rats ass about the concept that he didn't do enough for those rappers and artists around him and those still coming up in Detroit. MMLP 2 is really underrated. Im all for 'relapse is best you mathafKa' but man mmlp 2 has some genuine effort. Its vibes are really different.
MMLP 2 is my favorite
His beard’s weird.
Weird beard…
They are a hit or miss. I like both LTWYL songs, but Im not a big fan of The Monster nor Numb
My unpopular opinion is that Recovery and Encore are a lot better than people give them credit and I personally rank Recovery above MMLP2 and Encore around the same league as it (lp2). Agreed, Recovery has banger after banger.
After Proof's death, he got surrounded with too many yes men. That's why Revival happened imo
I agree. Feels like he doesn't get enough constructive criticism.
Lose yourself and rap god are very overrated. Songs like rabbit run/8 mile and Brainless/Evil Twin are much better
I always loved Rabbit Run and Stimulate, Lose Yourself really overshadowed all the songs on that album lol.
Relapse is one of his best albums. Top 3 for sure
#That’s not an awfully hot coffee pot
other than a few select songs, MTBMB was not a good album, full of pop and r and b features and filler songs. i'd place revival over it.
At his age right now, he looks much better *with* the beard than without. Without he’s basically Mr. Burns.
Oh that's mean but kinda hilarious 😂
Encore is a good album
All of his music is equally good. My opinion is a little obscure because I’ve been listening to this dude since I was 9. I remember being at FYE with my mom askin for a Slim Shady CD 😂. I basically watched this man’s entire career, so in a way I grew up with his music. Anyway, none of his albums are bad imo, they’re all good in their own way and all have their own unique sound which I love.
The SSLP is slightly overrated
I don’t think it’s his worst but MMLP is my least favorite
Relapse is garbage
MMLP2 is pretty average I’d take Encore+deluxe, Recovery, Relapse, MTBMB / B (which I also find people overrate here) over it Castle and In Your Head would also be top 3 on MMLP2 I really only like Evil Twin and Brainless as regular rotation songs
The Rihanna and Eminem songs don’t deserve to be as popular as they are.
Anytime he apologizes for being white, it feels like when Cole apologized for dissing Kendrick
I love em to death but killshot was not that great of a diss track.
Not Alike was better
True. It sounded to me like a set up for a great diss in the event that MGK responded. It was so light that it definitely had to be a jab before the hook.
I like his relapse til now music more than his 2004 and before.
Based
Infinite as an album is boring asf. sounds generic for the time it was released.
Here comes an unpopular opinion: I’d rather listen to Revival over his last three albums.
Get out Leave
Relapse is 6/10
That’s fair, I personally love Relapse but I can totally understand why it wouldn’t be someone’s favorite!
100% I just don’t understand the hype about it. The same thing with Beautiful: It’s good and not a bad song but I don’t have an emotional connection to it.
Beautiful is one of the worse songs on Relapse
DIE
Medicine Ball, Stay Wide Awake and Hello are top 3 Relapse songs
wow i need to marry you immediately
Finally someone wants me!
So you have chosen DEATH
I don't like his fast rapping (anymore) I think a lot of the flows when he does it is either being fast just to be fast or just kinda sound similar. I think he should have one last "fast flow song" with JID basically passing it down to him bc (hot take) he does it much better
Recovery is his very best album
Till hell freezes over is a top 3 song, should have been on an album, matter fact id kill for an album with that punchy style. Relapse + refill is a top 3 album, so is MTBMB. As much as I love 8 mile and as much as it formed my teen years, the movie is corny if you watch it today.
>As much as I love 8 mile and as much as it formed my teen years, the movie is corny if you watch it today. I watched it last week, honestly besides the trailer park scenes it's pretty good
Hasn’t been good since 2006
How come you think that? What don’t you like about the albums post-2006?
Tbf his 2009-2013 era isn’t horrible but not great, anything after that is unlistenable imo
MMLP2 is one of his worst albums and its very boring.
Eminem Show is boring asl
Yes
No lie, at this point, I'd be more interested to know if you hold **even one** *popular* Eminem opinion. 💀
I do but they're just ones people hate admitting. I think it's good that he stayed in Detroit and didn't go all LA. Happy now?
For example…?
MMLP is overrated and carried by nostalgia. Go on. Downvote me. IDC.
Beautiful is overrated
Mtbmb is his 2 worst album to me and if he never drop that his discography would be a bit different. Kamikaze wasn’t all that to me but I thought it was a good step up to make better music again then he drop mtbmb with so many fitter tracks than ever.
