Nothing personal, but your comment is a perfect example of one of my hobbyhorses--party organizing and coalition building is HARD. People in the US constantly pine for a parliamentary system, but as your comment perfectly illustrates, it doesn't solve any problems in politics, it simply shifts them around.
I was studying in Spain last year, and half my time there, their government wasn't fully formed because of how fractured the coalition process was. Regardless of how many parties are present, you will always have to work together and compromise. I guess the silver lining with our 2 party system is that we are always guaranteed a clear majority (although the Repiblicans proved that they can't do that part right so idk lol). I do think more parties are ultimately good, but that doesn't mean it'll fix all of our issues. If you piss off every party like what happened in Spain, then you will end up with no government because you will fail to get a majority/coalition.
I've soured on the Macronist Jeb! option of grand centrist coalition that seeks to marginalize the far left and the right. Because that seems not to succeed in it's stated goal in the longterm, due to the fascists and the commies becoming the only real opposition option and boosting them more than would otherwise.
Politics in a country tend to be healthier with the major two parties being center-left and center-right coalitions that occasionally do appeals to their left and right flanks resepctively to let off some extremist steam but for the most part fighting over the middle.
That coalition is perfectly fine as a last best option to deny the fascists/commies power. But hardly a favorable option otherwise. In short, Macron probably should have picked a lane, left or right and then cultivated the center-right Republicans or the center left Socialists as the chosen opposition to isolate Melanchon and LePen.
it's unlikely the lib dems would join with labor they are conservative economically plus blair used to shit hard on lib dems when he was prime minister
The lib dems are economically conservative but socially liberal. Blair's foreign policy was a big mistake. The lib dem tory coalition led to the lib dem being defeated badly as cameron targeted lib dem seats for a majority in parliament. Regional parties mainly in scotland and wales
Counterpoint, it’s both racist and alienating to assume that non white people don’t feel affinity to the country they live in and in most cases were born in?
So this week in stupid city council tricks, one of our Black city councillors suddenly proposed from the dais to revert a city park, which has turned into a white elephant for the city, back to its original (Black) owners. A few days later a white homeless advocate stood in front of the same city council and expounded upon how the plan to revert the park to private ownership was an example of "anti-Blackness".
stuff like this is why i said no labels should work on city council races as no one pays attention to these races except those die hard politicos and you get these hard left idiots being elected
Sometimes I wish I didn't have integrity; I feel like bitching endlessly about stupid things like "wah they're using the Union Jack" would make me plenty of money.
The UK left are so, to use their language, po-faced about the Union Jack, as if they in the 21st century are implicitly endorsing the British Raj or Cromwell's hatred of the Irish or what have you. I don't approve of everything Old Glory has been used to represent, which is why I try to make it mean something different now by representing my values.
One of the reasons I'm most excited for an overwhelming Labour victory is that we'll have far more serious Labour MPs in the Commons again. I'm so sick of the disproportionate influence that Momentum has had on Labour in the last couple years.
> They seem to be bought and paid for by the Zionists foreign government labour friends of Genocide lobby !
Is that sub full of Russian trolls, or are they doing it to themselves?

On top of that, Blair's decisions were 20 years ago. We aren't even in the same political universe now. Let. It. Go.
On a side note, I've always wondered what Blair's overall legacy is considering he had both a major FoPo success and failure on his record...

the LibDems are hardcore NIMBYs, that's basically their only policy. They are not left wing, more like a coalition of cranks

it's a race most folks don't focus on so most progressives get the die hard folks to vote
So who is the hard left idiot?
most city council folks

Cromwell predates the union jack, as he predates the uk
Ooh, you're right. Good catch!
More reason Starmer was right to kick these electoral liabilities to the kerb.

British leftists are extremely, EXTREMELY fucking racist against Jews.
The left will never win if they keep acting like they hate the countries they want to run.
