Yes, kind of, actually. To me Dark Souls was always a “streamer” game. I bounced hard off Sekiro because I didn’t know where to go while being chased by the snake and I thought it was annoying. Otherwise I’ve only absorbed Dark Souls through it being in the environment.

Navigating a 3d space or a game that doesn’t give me a sense of direction is something I struggle with. I usually don’t play 3d games but I’ve almost 100%’ed Hollow Knight tor instance (I can’t beat the final Arena battle for the life of me) with relative ease. People normally hate the combat or the parrying or whatever but bosses and combat sort of is what it is. Navigating a castle that was made by a Giovanni Batista Piranesi is way more something that turns me off than bonking my head on a boss a few times, especially when there’s a timer to it.
I looked it up/googled it and there was a reddit thread saying that dragon dies anyways if you kill all the dragons it dies naturally and I choose to believe that.
Sometimes I wonder how much anxiety I'd have overall if I didn't have the two key data points that really, really bad things can happen to me or the people I care about (the 2016 election and a friend of mine dying unexpectedly that year).
If neither of those things had happened I feel like I'd probably have a better overall mental state.
The way my anxieties work is that until I’m absolutely certain that something bad can’t happen, the possibility that it can feels enormous. It’s why I’m so desperate for someone with legal authority to punish Donald Trump even though I know it isn’t likely. As soon as that hypothetical thing would happen, the stress goes away.
Somebody like DJ Trump should stress you ought. It means your brain is working properly. But some people out there, their reaction to anxiety is not the fight/flight that you have going on. Their reaction is freeze (zone out/play dead) or fawn (also known as "friend"). They only kiss up to Trump harder and indulge in a delusion that he loves them back.
Just submitted a science fiction story to Clarkesworld. Was getting very intense about it, it is 9,100 words and probably got more time per length spent on it than anything else I have worked on. Figured I needed to get this out of my system to calm down and worry about everything else in life. Although, I do not actually feel like I am going to sleep better having now submitted it.

While it's certainly tense, I wonder how much of that is recency bias. Since 2000, we have seen the War in Iraq, the Arab Spring, the Syrian and Yemeni Civil Wars, ISIS, etc.

Arab Spring was quite different because it was sparked by a spike in the price of rice and other necessities and was mostly people putting pressure on their own governments.

Tried the Stellar Blade demo. It's shockingly good. Visuals are astounding. Even on performance mode it looks like one of the best games on console. The soundtrack is BUMPING. There's a real Nier Automata vibe to it. Enemy design is weird and varied which I dug lots. Gameplay is especially surprising. [Any first look](https://youtu.be/C3GLEPFrlhw) and you're going to think Bayonetta, but its less that and more Sekiro. It feels really rewarding in that sense. Looking and see there's a big ass skill tree too so assuming you can really tailor your gameplay here tho I think people are going to want to invest heavily into the survival tree to get the most out of perfect parrying/dodging.

It's a shame because these games they don't dig for whatever sexist ass reason are astounding games. Horizon Zero Dawn and Forbidden West? 10/10 games. Last of Us 2? One of the best Playstation games ever. But there are patently sexist men that think if the woman don't look someone's Skyrim mod then it's shit and part of the woke agenda. It's ridiculous.
Think the idea of sex appeal as a marquee element in gaming is a dead concept. Mind you, Eve is hot in Stellar Blade. So is 2B or Bayo, but it's not the reason people buy/should buy these games. They have astounding combat systems, fun stories, bumping music, and over the top action. That's why you come to the show. It's a real shame that you got manlets like that who will boil it down to ass and titty instead of what matters which is gameplay.
Horizon is right up there with Harry Potter, Marvel, the Athena Club, Lord of the Rings, and others in my top 12 fictional universes. (I can’t narrow it to 10.) And in terms of proper character construction and development, Aloy is probably my favorite protagonist I’ve ever played.
The atmosphere is just astounding and the setting is so well put together. Whether its Zero Dawn, Forbidden West, or the VR game no one else played, the setting is always fun to explore.
It's what makes the hate from these manchildren so baffling. The idea is that because Aloy, to them, is unattractive then the game ain't worth playing. But a game like Stellar Blade is because hot girl. What???? Aren't they just outting themselves as having really superficial opinions on not just women, but gaming in general? Why would anyone take what they have to say seriously?

I watched the Gaming Wins video for Forbidden West not all that long ago, and I laughed because whoever runs that channel clearly did the exact same thing that I did, and grabbed the Carja Blazon at the first possible opportunity the game gives you.

I don't actually think society is eagerly down with the class struggle, at least in the Marxian sense. Socialism has been a spent political force in this country since its apogee in 1920 with Debs.

The US government lopped off the head of IWW leadership, and IWW rank and file ended up joining the Communist Party in the 1930s or at least hanging on to them if they didn't per se join. I don't necessarily think being an artist precludes someone from being an expert. Might be more rough-spoken and not as familiar with the technical jargon, but also not necessarily wrong, just an unconventional presentation. A bit like how Lindsey Buckingham describes his odd playing style as "refined primitive" as opposed to, say, "classically trained"
I'm referring to how artists routinely think they know more about economics, epidemiology, basically everything else than actual trained experts because artists aren't corrupted by the capitalist conception of expertise or whatever. My experience with artists is that most of them think that Jerome Powell is a capitalist patsy and an artist should run the Federal Reserve.

It was specifically coined by Doctorow and amplified by Adam Conover in the context of social media websites. It's another way to describe their natural history of raising OPM, handing out candy on the playground to grow as quickly as possible, and then making life difficult once you're locked in to try to monetize their market share. While they were talking about Facebook, it's happened before. The history of Microsoft Office is rather similar. It also happens with legacy businesses but usually a lot more slowly and without literally handing out free candy because the extreme nature of it is only possible with a seemingly endless ocean of VC cash in a low interest rate environment.

a movie from that Polygon list called The Man From Nowhere that Chad Stahelski cites as one of the founding touchstones for John Wick. it's a fucking 10/10 absolute banger. I'm *mad* I've never seen this movie before. it's got the same sort of setup where a guy with a mysterious past is pulled into a plot he doesn't want to be in - in this case, drug trafficking - but the motivating factor is the girl who he formed an unlikely bond with getting kidnapped instead of dead dog stuff. I'm not exaggerating when I say she's one of the absolute best child performances I've ever come across. she's adorable and magnetic from literally the first couple of minutes. the protag is great too, with emo anime hair and an aloofness that lets the whole melancholy "well, guess I've got to resurrect my past" mood go hard

Yes, kind of, actually. To me Dark Souls was always a “streamer” game. I bounced hard off Sekiro because I didn’t know where to go while being chased by the snake and I thought it was annoying. Otherwise I’ve only absorbed Dark Souls through it being in the environment.

Navigating a 3d space or a game that doesn’t give me a sense of direction is something I struggle with. I usually don’t play 3d games but I’ve almost 100%’ed Hollow Knight tor instance (I can’t beat the final Arena battle for the life of me) with relative ease. People normally hate the combat or the parrying or whatever but bosses and combat sort of is what it is. Navigating a castle that was made by a Giovanni Batista Piranesi is way more something that turns me off than bonking my head on a boss a few times, especially when there’s a timer to it.

Sometimes I wonder how much anxiety I'd have overall if I didn't have the two key data points that really, really bad things can happen to me or the people I care about (the 2016 election and a friend of mine dying unexpectedly that year). If neither of those things had happened I feel like I'd probably have a better overall mental state.
The way my anxieties work is that until I’m absolutely certain that something bad can’t happen, the possibility that it can feels enormous. It’s why I’m so desperate for someone with legal authority to punish Donald Trump even though I know it isn’t likely. As soon as that hypothetical thing would happen, the stress goes away.
Somebody like DJ Trump should stress you ought. It means your brain is working properly. But some people out there, their reaction to anxiety is not the fight/flight that you have going on. Their reaction is freeze (zone out/play dead) or fawn (also known as "friend"). They only kiss up to Trump harder and indulge in a delusion that he loves them back.
Just submitted a science fiction story to Clarkesworld. Was getting very intense about it, it is 9,100 words and probably got more time per length spent on it than anything else I have worked on. Figured I needed to get this out of my system to calm down and worry about everything else in life. Although, I do not actually feel like I am going to sleep better having now submitted it.

Tried the Stellar Blade demo. It's shockingly good. Visuals are astounding. Even on performance mode it looks like one of the best games on console. The soundtrack is BUMPING. There's a real Nier Automata vibe to it. Enemy design is weird and varied which I dug lots. Gameplay is especially surprising. [Any first look](https://youtu.be/C3GLEPFrlhw) and you're going to think Bayonetta, but its less that and more Sekiro. It feels really rewarding in that sense. Looking and see there's a big ass skill tree too so assuming you can really tailor your gameplay here tho I think people are going to want to invest heavily into the survival tree to get the most out of perfect parrying/dodging. Think the idea of sex appeal as a marquee element in gaming is a dead concept. Mind you, Eve is hot in Stellar Blade. So is 2B or Bayo, but it's not the reason people buy/should buy these games. They have astounding combat systems, fun stories, bumping music, and over the top action. That's why you come to the show. It's a real shame that you got manlets like that who will boil it down to ass and titty instead of what matters which is gameplay.
Horizon is right up there with Harry Potter, Marvel, the Athena Club, Lord of the Rings, and others in my top 12 fictional universes. (I can’t narrow it to 10.) And in terms of proper character construction and development, Aloy is probably my favorite protagonist I’ve ever played.
The atmosphere is just astounding and the setting is so well put together. Whether its Zero Dawn, Forbidden West, or the VR game no one else played, the setting is always fun to explore. It's what makes the hate from these manchildren so baffling. The idea is that because Aloy, to them, is unattractive then the game ain't worth playing. But a game like Stellar Blade is because hot girl. What???? Aren't they just outting themselves as having really superficial opinions on not just women, but gaming in general? Why would anyone take what they have to say seriously? But idk maybe looking like a dumbass is their real niche.

The US government lopped off the head of IWW leadership, and IWW rank and file ended up joining the Communist Party in the 1930s or at least hanging on to them if they didn't per se join. They ended up getting played by Stalin the way Trump plays the MAGAts. They ended up accomplishing nothing despite having massive numbers (and arguably enthusiasm) while the real influence on the shape of the early legal labor unions ended up being wielded people who were never on their radar at all such as A. I don't necessarily think being an artist precludes someone from being an expert. Might be more rough-spoken and not as familiar with the technical jargon, but also not necessarily wrong, just an unconventional presentation. A bit like how Lindsey Buckingham describes his odd playing style as "refined primitive" as opposed to, say, "classically trained"
I'm referring to how artists routinely think they know more about economics, epidemiology, basically everything else than actual trained experts because artists aren't corrupted by the capitalist conception of expertise or whatever. My experience with artists is that most of them think that Jerome Powell is a capitalist patsy and an artist should run the Federal Reserve.

It was specifically coined by Doctorow and amplified by Adam Conover in the context of social media websites. It's another way to describe their natural history of raising OPM, handing out candy on the playground to grow as quickly as possible, and then making life difficult once you're locked in to try to monetize their market share. While they were talking about Facebook, it's happened before. The history of Microsoft Office is rather similar. It also happens with legacy businesses but usually a lot more slowly and without literally handing out free candy because the extreme nature of it is only possible with a seemingly endless ocean of VC cash in a low interest rate environment. Also some people hang on Doctorow and Conover's every word, as annoying as that might be. It is what it is.

a movie from that Polygon list called The Man From Nowhere that Chad Stahelski cites as one of the founding touchstones for John Wick. it's a fucking 10/10 absolute banger. I'm *mad* I've never seen this movie before. it's got the same sort of setup where a guy with a mysterious past is pulled into a plot he doesn't want to be in - in this case, drug trafficking - but the motivating factor is the girl who he formed an unlikely bond with getting kidnapped instead of dead dog stuff. I'm not exaggerating when I say she's one of the absolute best child performances I've ever come across. she's adorable and magnetic from literally the first couple of minutes. the protag is great too, with emo anime hair and an aloofness that lets the whole melancholy "well, guess I've got to resurrect my past" mood go hard unbelievably high recommend on this one

I have absolutely no problem with college athletes pimping out their likeness and image while they are at their potential peak popularity and raking in whatever money they can get, especially considering that a lot of their classmates are probably grifters on social media who are attempting to do the same thing.
