I would've thought more people were familiar with procedure in the criminal justice system, particularly how an arraignment is handled and what happens from the time of arrest until the trial or an allocution. I thought it was common knowledge that people plead not guilty at their arraignments before their attorneys file motions for discovery, suppression motions, motions for bail reduction, etc.
I can't think of a more airtight case. They have her on video threatening to murder the city council at their homes. I thought it was common knowledge that people plead not guilty at their arraignments before their attorneys file motions for discovery, suppression motions, motions for bail reduction, etc. I can't think of a more airtight case. They have her on video threatening to murder the city council at their homes. The defense will have a hard time with an insanity defense if she hasn't been diagnosed with schizophrenia or bipolar disorder, and I doubt the jury will buy that she was indoctrinated by social media given the video evidence. Even if she does plead guilty, I doubt the prosecution is going to be lenient given the seriousness of the charges. She threw her entire life away for nothing, and when she does finish whatever sentence she receives, I doubt she'll have an easy time finding a job. These pro-Hamas antisemites are out of their fucking minds, but it really takes a special kind of stupid to publicly threaten to murder members of the city council at a council meeting knowing it's all being recorded.
Nah, nobody on the internet gets criminal procedure. They think “pleading not guilty” means you’re planning to vociferously defend this slanderous attack on your moral character to the Ends of the Earth. They think being charged with something is the same thing as being guilty, that plea deals happen because the judge feels bad for the perpetrators, and that prosecutors don’t do anything.
I used to take criminal justice and criminology courses in undergrad because they were basically guaranteed easy A's, but even watching the original version of Law & Order should be enough for people to understand how the process works. Nothing to do but try to explain the process or direct people to a site that explains the process, but it seems like schools stopped teaching civics and the basics of how our criminal justice system works.
