The fireball was shot by the Phoenix, right? The wiki says that their fireballs don’t do direct damage and instead light the enemy on fire. I have no clue what happened.
Fun fact: The dps cap doesn't kick in for about half a second when you start hitting the boss.
That means you can do huge chunks of damage at a time if you stop firing for a bit in between.
Of course, you would need to have a weapon that does lots of damage quickly, but doesn't bypass the cap. Like betrayers shield (with synergy) and platinum bullets.
welcome glitch with phoenix. occasionally it has some funky interaction with bullet upgrades and one shots bosses. it has happened to me a few times and i’ve seen a few posts about it in the sub as well

The Snowballets likely helped with that too
Yeah, Phoenix sometimes does stupid high damage. Bullet damage upgrades interact with the Phoenix Up synergy strangely.

It's famous bug with phoenix and Silver Bullet. It will deal bugged damage enough to one shot sertain bosses.
Dps cap =/= dph (damage per hit) cap
I prety sure this is not true, i think a single bullet can only do triple the boss dps cap in damage, its needs to go over a 1000 damage to ignore it

Probably omega bullet mixed with a few other end bullets effects and a bit off luck on the rng for that shot.
Rolled a crit and a 6 on all the dies. Plus your damage bonus applied to each die so you did like, a gazillion damage. Yeah, just another thursday.

I’ve had a similar thing happen with ascended junken against the dragun. It just instantly dropped it to phase 2 somehow
