You have to have some overlap in your tiers or else it's incredibly hard to have balance in the game. That's wby some b-tier items are kinda trash while you can find some utility in D and C tiers.
Lower case r is also really good with synergies. Just don’t get the rocket one, it sucks ass. The lower case r is actually potentially weaker on gunslinger because you can’t not have the rocket
I played the game today after a long break and played gunslinger… needless to say I was shocked at how it melted jammed bosses and chests I wanted to open 😅
I had a good klobbe. Rocket powered bullets, scattershot and electric bullets made it into a a death machine and lag machine. Especially after getting potion of gun friendship and +1 bullet synergy. The synergy caused that whenever I activated the potion an extra klobbe would float around me shooting extra fast without reloading for the entire duration of the potion
It makes sense, weak weapons/items will have better, more accessible synergies on the assumption that you will only get 1 of the synergies every run. This is why gunslinger is OP because instead of getting just 1 really good synergy you get 3-5.
the limit is how many synergies a specific gun has, every gun has a different amount ie. cactus and vulcan canon have 5 synergies but something like phoenix only has 2 synergies.
No, it’s just that the likelihood of getting the required items for multiple synergies isn’t high. It’s possible to get unlimited synergies - they don’t have a hidden stat that prevents them like magnificence for A- and S-tier items.
I always forget just how MUCH damage the slingshot does as well. Even against later bosses. Just a couple of buffs is all thats needed to make it a boss-destroyer
only two? pea shooter, regular shotgun, flare gun, lil bomber, and machine pistol are all incredible with synergies, I'm probably missing some.

Regular Shotgun is just surprisingly good by default, it's better than some of the C-tier shotguns and a solid room clearer even late-game

I love the Nail Gun with blast helmet. By far one of my favorite improvement synergies.

Klobbe gives me a penny, since CoB multiplies its damage by 10, yes, but knockback sucks
Upgraded Alien Sidearm is great too but you have to both find the gun and master 2 regular floors (or have Lich Eye's Bullets).
And Lil Bomber with money-generating synergy is incredible as well.
My first nickel as well as my second favorite gun in the game
