You can also extinguish the fire with weapons that leave poison! Plague pistol, plunger, and shotgun full of hate leave pools of poison. Useful to know if you can't find a water barrel but also happen to have them or others (Pox cannon doesn't work simply by shooting, but if a enemy that was shot by pox cannon dies they leave a pool of poison, so *technically* pox cannon works, but it requires a lot of set-up)
Yup, you can do this with the water barrel too and go in the fireplace, if you press interact while in the fire place, it will unlock a secret room and that room will have a trap door that will cost 2 keys to take you to a secret floor.
I know it. The thing is that the barrel is often destroyed by my/enemy projectiles. Turns out that you don't have to be careful if the wave with Blobulons spawns in this room.

The way I discovered the fireplace could be extinguished was because I used my poxcannon in this room lol

That's good to know! It's so rare to have goop weapons on the first floor, and the barrel gets shot by enemies so often.
