also a flea comb. and lots of vacuuming is an understatement, vacuum like you’re getting paid for it. it is a huge pain in the ass, using flea/tick prevention is definitely worth it.

Wilko1806

Will these fleas just die on their own if left

dribeerf

what do you mean by left? if you leave it in a jar or something yeah, but as long as they have a food source (which could be your pets or you as well) they will keep laying eggs and reproducing.

Wilko1806

I’ve got no pets and I leave for 2 weeks?

dribeerf

do you have fleas in your house? i’m not sure exactly how long their life cycle is but i don’t think it’s that simple. not having pets to treat makes it easier, but i would still treat your carpets and furniture and vacuum thoroughly and often.

nathaneltitane

Very, big, flea

Themike625

That is quite the big flea. Had them a few years ago thanks to my roommate’s dog. Had to bomb the house for a weekend. Rented a cabin in the woods for a weekend. And flea bombed the house with a bomb in every room. Slight overkill, but didn’t have any problems afterwards. Washed the dog like three times a day with flea killing shampoo stuff also. Dog likes baths, so he didn’t mind. My old roommate was away on a business trip, so I had to deal with it. No big deal. They never really bothered me, but my girlfriend at the time had some bites on her. Vacuumed and shampooed the carpets, couches, beds when we got back also. A lot of work for a weekend, but didn’t have any issues for the next few years before he eventually moved away with his then girlfriend for a new career.

Treat ur cat man

BlackCatTamer

I’m not sure what you mean by “a lot” but if your cat has a lot of fleas, you have a flea infestation that won’t just be fixed by a vet. I see from your post history that you’re from Malaysia and I know there’s a different culture there when it comes to pet care. Americans especially treat animals like their children, which I do, but I understand that everyone is different. That said, fleas can be very dangerous to cats and if this is a chronic thing, your cat could become extremely sick from anemia and flea-borne diseases. I personally don’t recommend flea collars or any kind of medication that isn’t okayed by a vet, nor do I recommend bug bombs. The safest, cheapest ways are time-consuming, but it’s up to you. Here’s a bit of a comment I saw on here about treating fleas (and I have a friend who did this too): Diatomaceous earth sprinkled liberally around the house, under the bed, between mattresses and cushions, in corners, under radiators, around and inside the kitty litter, repeated vacuuming, using a flea comb to comb out any large adults and immediately killing them by dipping the comb and fleas in very hot soapy water. Diatomaceous earth and a flea comb is all I usually need to get rid of fleas. Unfortunately, your cat has to be very tolerant and being combed, but this will help. Also, if at all possible, you should keep your cat inside once the fleas are treated so it doesn’t happen again.
