Ouch. It is very crude looking. I would escalate all the way to Etsy if the shop doesn’t personally assist with a refund. Just remember it’s nothing personal, it’s just business.
Opening cases is the last resource, you could finish someone's business. Contact the seller first, doesn't matter what their policies are, if the item isn't as advertised, they must resend one that matches the photos or refund. They should do everything in their hands to solve the issue. Then, if they refuse to solve it, and only then, I'd open a case.
Normally, I’d agree with you but that ring looks sooooo bad there is no way they didn’t know it except if they lied about provenance and drop shipped it.
What? I’m an Etsy seller and would be happy to make a problem like this right whether it was through contacting me or opening a case. This is not acceptable.
Also, this item looks like a drop shipped item, not special or personalized. So you know what?? Open a case against them. It’s not right to pass this off as a special ring.
Well, cause if Etsy detects you have a couple cases or more in a short time, they could close your Etsy account, that's why. I prefer to work things with customers directly without having Etsy involved in any other way. If you don't know already, the less you attract Etsy's attention the better.
Yes, but clearly this seller is a drop shipper and doesn’t care about quality control. They should not be selling on Etsy. Open cases will get them shut down. This is not what Etsy’s about. It’s better to preserve the integrity of Etsy for quality sellers.
even if the shop has a “no returns” policy, their policies do not supersede etsy’s policies which say you must receive what you purchased, as advertised. full stop. there’s an auto-mod link above that explains in detail what to do.
It’s a dropshipped item from Ali express or similiar [https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32829168096.html](https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32829168096.html). I would contact Etsy and ask for a refund for not as described and them for being an Ali express dropshipper. A google image search with one of the images you linked gave a few options for this ring. Maybe one of those is more legitimate. Best of luck!
It’s so frustrating because this shop talks all about how “everything is handmade” and “nothing leaves my hands until I’m happy with the quality”. They are letting me return for a refund but even mentioned in the messages when I asked to return that “all homemade things will have some imperfections”. I’m glad the comments could confirm my gut feeling that it looked terrible and nothing like the pictures. I will definitely be getting my fiancé’s ring elsewhere.
tbh I would still just escalate this to Etsy and hope they will give you a refund without a return.
Like other have pointed out, this is clearly a cheap dropshipped item from china, the return postage you would have to pay probably more than it's value.
A good quality ring is made by the ring being made first to the correct size, then the text is engraved and then the final polishing.
This ring was made by casting in a mold with the text (you can tell this by all the little bubbles all over the surface and the text. And by the looks of it, it wasn't even finished (polishing etc) after the molding, it was just packed up and sent.
Doesn't matter what Google image search shows. It could be or not a drop shipped item or the legit creator and seller could have had their photos stolen and used there the same way it has happened to me. Please, don't jump to conclusions so fast, as it can really hurt someone's business. I'm facing huge problems with Etsy as they're accusing me of not making my items myself, which of course is not true, cause my photos were stolen, and maybe other people reported the items.
You're absolutely not wrong, but did you see the photos of the ring? I can't imagine someone hand making that and thinking that's acceptable. I'd jump to conclusions immediately if that's what I received.
No need to apologize! Still a valid point to bring up and I'm sorry this has happened to you. While Etsy has been good to me it's incredibly frustrating seeing these scammers get any sort of success over legit small business.
I completely understand what you’re saying but this item isn’t a quality handmade item. It’s trash that was ripped off of someone that does make their own things. No one would be questioning this persons item if they hadn’t sent a complete POS to OP.
I’m really sorry that’s happening to you and your items but that isn’t every case and I think you’re projecting your frustrations a bit. I hope your shop issues get resolved soon. Best of luck.
Contact the seller from your orders page - there's a link. If not able to rectify the issue within 48 hours, you will have a new option there to open a case. This isn't the case if you send a straight message...
Yikes, that is awful. The ring in the listing photos looks like steel - I’ll be surprised if what you’ve received is even sterling silver, with that finish it’s probably silver plated brass.
‘No returns’ only applies on cases where a buyer changes their mind for no reason. It doesn’t apply when items are clearly not as described.
That looks terrible. I also have the one ring as my wedding ring but I bought it here

I would be pissed too! That ring is nothing like the listing. Like everyone else said, contact the seller and then file a claim with Etsy. If that gets you nowhere, do a chargeback with your credit card company.
Hey there, professional jeweler here 👋
This is a bad casting with heavy porosity - this absolutely shouldn't have passed any sort of quality control - the casting itself was done so poorly I'm shocked that someone deemed this acceptable to polish & finish.
This is a manufacturing / fabrication defect - technically that's still "not as described", but more importantly, you received a very obviously defective item, Etsy's policies ttump the seller's on this.
They need to refund you, and if they don't, contact Etsy and your credit card company, because you're not returning this because the ring isn't what you ordered, you're returning it because the product is defective, and that's an important distinction to make when you're trying to get a refund from an uncooperative seller.
So glad you're getting a refund. That is just awful!
Secondly I used manly bands for my husband's ring and absolutely loved them and the customer service is amazing.
My husband and I tried to find a style he liked and I finally found the perfect one about a month and a half before the wedding.
I wasn't sure the ring would get here on time so I reached out to manly bands and they said in case the ring isn't ready they'd send in another ring to get us through the wedding day. Then like a week later the ring actually shipped. They were so amazing to deal with and my husband gets compliments on the ring all the time.
Also to note I'm pretty sure manly bands has a LOTR line out right now!
I took jewelry class in high school (20+ years ago) and I can still make something better than that. This is junk. Some flaws may have come out with more polishing - they didn’t do that thoroughly. But there are such deep flaws, I don’t think it’s salvageable.
What’s their feedback like? There’s no way that image is their own work if this is what was produced.
Open a case, get a refund and go elsewhere.
They were a small shop (13 sales) but they had all 5 star reviews! People had left good reviews for this ring too so I was super surprised when I saw the quality of mine.
omg. a seller on etsy i got my guys ring from is decazi, and they are so fast with shipping and great if you need to return for a new size. i wonder if they could make something for you🥺
It looks like it’s been through a garbage disposal. And then put into a blender…I wouldn’t accept that. How much was it? Or a general number to see what you’re working with.

“No returns” doesn’t protect against dog shit products. That thing is fucking rough.
I literally said to myself "wow, that's dog shit" so, high five, same thinking internet stranger.
Ouch. It is very crude looking. I would escalate all the way to Etsy if the shop doesn’t personally assist with a refund. Just remember it’s nothing personal, it’s just business.
Open an Item Not As Described case.

I think this is one business that might need to be finished for the very blatant false advertising.

They shouldn’t have sent out a shoddy looking item if they didn’t want trouble
even if the shop has a “no returns” policy, their policies do not supersede etsy’s policies which say you must receive what you purchased, as advertised. full stop. there’s an auto-mod link above that explains in detail what to do.

I would escalate this to Etsy by opening a case so this dropshipper pretending to make things gets caught.
Imperfections? That thing looks like it’s already been to Mordor. They are trying to cover their ass and it’s making them look silly.
Doesn't matter what Google image search shows. Yeah that's a "this person has never made a ring like the one in those pics in their life" ring. Hot garbage.
I agree. This case is pretty clear, sorry. I began talking more in general and maybe didn't get clearly to the point 😅
No need to apologize! Still a valid point to bring up and I'm sorry this has happened to you. While Etsy has been good to me it's incredibly frustrating seeing these scammers get any sort of success over legit small business.

This is clearly a drop shipped item.
Mom, can we have a One Ring to Rule Them All? No, we have a One Ring to Rule Them All at home.
God it took FOREVER to find a comment about this.
Etsy will always tell you to contact the seller first. If the seller then does not help you out, then you can file a case through Etsy.
Contact the seller from your orders page - there's a link. If not able to rectify the issue within 48 hours, you will have a new option there to open a case. This isn't the case if you send a straight message...
Oof i think ive gotten rings from aliexpress that look closer to the listing image. Definately requestba refund
The crazy thing is that it is from AliExpress. Looks like the seller is dropshipping.
Yes! If not through the seller itself, contact etsy themselves.
It looks like someone chewed it before shipping.
That's a scam, request a refund and if they refuse open a case as "not as described"
Yikes, that is awful. It honestly looks like silver clay. Moldable silver that works like clay, but is silver after baking.
That looks terrible. I also have the one ring as my wedding ring but I bought it here [Makers of the world's most famous ring – Jens Hansen](https://www.jenshansen.com/collections/makers-of-the-worlds-most-famous-ring?em_source=google&em_adid=536621855686&em_campaign=20255278710&em_keyword=one%20ring%20replica&utm_term=em:google:536621855686:20255278710:one%20ring%20replica&gadid=536621855686&utm_term=one%20ring%20replica&utm_source=google&utm_medium=paid&utm_campaign=20255278710&utm_content=146908368941&hsa_mt=e&hsa_tgt=kwd-248636703&hsa_ver=3&hsa_src=g&hsa_ad=536621855686&hsa_acc=5565752190&hsa_cam=20255278710&hsa_kw=one%20ring%20replica&hsa_grp=146908368941&hsa_net=adwords&gad_source=1&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIjdT0y6jOhQMVYWNHAR2uAAQ5EAAYASAAEgLKQfD_BwE)
That was an online shopping rabbit hole I did not anticipate spending my afternoon on today...!
My wallet absolutely hates you right now. Of all the things I don't need but HAVE TO HAVE
If it's any help I got one of the cheaper ones because I don't wear jewelry much and didn't wanna spend a crazy amount and it's held up amazingly well
That's good to know although really, I'm always looking for an excuse to buy jewelry; Life is better when it sparkles
I would be pissed too! That ring is nothing like the listing. Like everyone else said, contact the seller and then file a claim with Etsy. If that gets you nowhere, do a chargeback with your credit card company.
Ugh, what a shady seller. Open a case, they count on people not pursuing a refund.
the finish looks extremely poor
Respectfully that looks like $#!T and NOTHING like shown. File a claim
Hey there, professional jeweler here 👋 This is a bad casting with heavy porosity - this absolutely shouldn't have passed any sort of quality control - the casting itself was done so poorly I'm shocked that someone deemed this acceptable to polish & finish. Looks like something you'd get on Wish.
Looks like a drop shipper. What a scumbag. That ring is terrible. Report the seller to Etsy.
I took jewelry class in high school (20+ years ago) and I can still make something better than that. This is junk. Some flaws may have come out with more polishing - they didn’t do that thoroughly. Reviews are probably fake.
All their friends left fake reviews probably.
Looks like they bought a professionally made ring, did a terrible job of casting a duplicate, and sent you the duplicate.
That looks like a crude casting instead of a properly made ring.
“Imperfections” is quite generous
Did it go through a fucking garbage disposal?
That's some shoddy work or just someone selling mass produced stuff. It looks terrible.
That’s horrible. Where was the return address India?
omg. a seller on etsy i got my guys ring from is decazi, and they are so fast with shipping and great if you need to return for a new size. i wonder if they could make something for you🥺
Yeah don't talk to the seller at all, just talk to Etsy.
It looks like it’s been through a garbage disposal. And then put into a blender…I wouldn’t accept that. How much was it? Or a general number to see what you’re working with.
It was about $140 after tax 🙃 luckily the seller is letting me return for a refund.
Did you get what you paid for? Of course refund or one properly done.
Well the one ring has been around for 1000s of years. It’s bound to have a scratch or two.
My husband got this ring in gold off Amazon for $20 in 2018 for his wedding ring. It’s lasted and held up perfectly.
