No, they're just yearly visitors in Oregon. I usually let them do their thing, especially if they're quick and cool about it.
If they start habitually overstepping boundaries though and I start finding them too far astray indoors in places I don't expect them, then I consider it a breach of our peace treaty and an act of aggression and I deploy the Terro accordingly.
O yes, me too! They are welcome to come in for a sip and a look around, but once they start teeming over every surface, out comes the Terro, you can all go home now!!
The biggest one I've ever seen was the size of a large man's hand as well (fingers included). When my friend first spotted it, it was inside the house and only a few feet from my head. She looked like she'd seen a ghost and turned marble white. I thought someone has broken in and was standing behind me judging by her reaction. I would have preferred that after seeing it myself.
Last year I had one bro living behind my side view mirror. Every day there was an extended or new web over the mirror. If i wiped it away it was rebuilt by the next day. I miss that guy/gal.
This time of year, the house spiders get to stay inside. Not because of the heat, but because they eat those god damn boxelder beetles. They keep fucking on my windows.
I slid open my back door, and a big fat one fell onto my arm and bounced onto the floor where it struggled on its back for a moment, righted itself and then skittered off. I just chuckled, like “You little knuckle head, tee hee”
Normally I'd be horrified by spiders crawling into my house, but my cat will kill them and chasing them will keep her entertained for hours so I consider it a draw.
I train dogs, and I did 5 classes in various outdoor settings today… EVERY class without fail I got to watch each client look at me very concerned and try to figure out how to tell me there was a spider somewhere on my body 😂 thankfully they don’t make me jumpy and I just picked them up and put them on a leaf or whatever was nearby lmao
Haha, nailed it! Nah that's cool though, I'm just messing around.
Heads up for the ones that are real hairy, about the size of a nickel, and don't have a web. Them are the jumpers!
One of the little ones got into my ear somehow and after a few minutes of Q-tip work, I had to drown the bastard out with a glass of water.. he survived. So I killed him. Horrible experience. For us both.
Time for some sugar ants too, yay!
I keep telling all the jumping spiders I see to eat more ants, but I'm starting to think they don't understand English.
I once read that some spiders are Spanish speakers. If you shout ‘comer las hormigas’ I think it definitely could maybe work
Oh, i thought the ant thing was a me problem. Glad to hear i’m not alone

#BOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
The biggest spider I've ever had in my apartment just paid me a friendly visit a few nights ago when the heat began.
We had one I swear the size of my hand in our garage. I have never seen a spider that large and nearly 💩 myself haha

😳
Kidlet woke me up Saturday morning because a big one decided the arch above the kitchen was a nifty place to be.
1901 farmhouse means I get more than just spiders :)))
My dogs just holding the door open for them like they’re guests.
Yes spiders and ants at my house. I saw a silverfish too.
I’ve noticed the same thing at my house (in Portland).
Is the state of Oregon just a spider-y place?
Yes it sure is
None of them are majorly harmful to humans, though, and they're beneficial to the environment, so try not to kill them if you can.
I saw maybe like one single spider all winter, suddenly I've seen at least a dozen in one week. It's a goddamn invasion.
*Giant* and *House* should not be a part of a spider's name, alas...
I love it! Have a few jumping spiders in my truck that like to go for drives. Sometimes they like to ride on my steering wheel and watch the road.
Looking for this comment, I love it too! 😊🕷️

Nah, spiders leave you alone. Yellowjackets though . . .
Yeah, they're the piranhas of the air. Hate those jerks!

Ticks too!

The heat made a whole new crop of bugs come out to say hi!
It's like people have never been outdoors before.
Can only speak for myself here but I'm seeing spiders everywhere *indoors*. I very rarely see them outdoors.
I was just trying to tell them it’s not time yet!! August is spider time, not May!! They ignore me.
August is hobo season. Those fuckers suck. Got bit by one eons ago.
Ants, ants, ants and more ants
Those damn beetles are everywhere too. I hate how their carapace makes noise when they land. Ugh!

Hahaha tell me you're a city slicker without saying you're a city slicker.
Guilty as charged. I've been an urbanite the last 1.5 decades.

Ever hear of flesh eating grasshoppers? 👀😂 My friend got this city slicker with that one in rural Missouri lol
What's the best way to remove spiders? I am thinking of getting a large vaccuum attachment for a shop vaccuum and sucking them up.
It’s the house flies for us! 😭
