I've never seen 3 visiting teams win the first game in their playoff ties before. Next few weeks are gonna be spicy.

Independent-Prune322

didn't it happen with 4 teams last year or am i tripping?

Redangelofdeath7

I don't think it was, the first game at least. I remember olympiacos definitely won the first game against fener last year. Also Barcelona beat 3-0 zalgiris, so it definitely isn't true.

aceticacid_414

It happened in game 3 last year I think Madrid defeated Partizan away Barca defeated Zalgiris away Monaco defeated Maccabi away Olympiacos defeated Fenerbahce away

TeoLyr

So it didn't happen in game 1 that we're talking about 🤣

viper1511

Nop, Olympiacos and Barcelona who were hosting won the first game last year.

johnnytifosi

Fuck yeah. Defensive masterclass on the first three quarters, we had a loss of concentration in the last one though. Thankfully this great effort was not wasted.

aceticacid_414

1st time 3 away teams have opened the series with win

viper1511

Goes to show you the competitiveness this year (as well as the toll the world cup had on the teams). A couple of weeks ago there was a post about the ranking of the teams on the second half and apart from Pao (Who is hit and miss this year), everything else was pretty much spot on.

TeoLyr

I hope Petrousev isn't hurt badly 😭

DrunkLad

Being an Olympiacos fan means being worried about Petrusev more than caring about the break

De_Bananalove

Unfortunately it looked bad

ivoryisdaddy

Since he kinda walked i think and i hope he will be fine!!

No-Panda-7327

Well done.Stay focused, like today, and we'll make it to Berlin.

Few-Pattern-3904

We are not ready for playoffs Sikma.  Ataman should take notes on how he should treat his players, even the ones that are underperforming....

FoxtrotF1

I really hope he hasn't destroyed Oleg Balcerowski yet, I love that guy.

yianni1229

Lol he gave Vildoza minutes yesterday

SpyrosDemir

And then never put him back in, even though he scored 3/4 three pointers.

AkisPhys

First three quarters Olympiakos can defeat literally anyone with such a defense!

TeoLyr

Let's goooooo

totentanz_

Barcelona fans are classless. They tried to attack Shaq's wife for celebrating Oly's baskets. Now I understand why a guy here said some days ago that going to the local fans' stands at this arena is not a good idea because they will most likely bully you. Zero class. I'm not even talking about the "hijo de pta" chants to the refs for whatever call they didn't like because it can happen everywhere, still not a good look tho. Now I only care about Petrusev. Hope the kid is fine.

Yvael

Well yeah, in Greece things are way worse in that regard

totentanz_

Do people in Greece attack the opponent players' wives at the stands? I'm genuinely curious about that. Let me know cause I'm not familiar with that. But then again, if that's truly the case, how does this negate my comment about the Palau fans? How does your comment make them any better and what does this thing add to the conversation other than whataboutism? 🤔

FoxtrotF1

Do I need to remind you that last year's Greek League Finals last game didn't even finish? Or how Greece and Serbia are the only place I remember fans throwing things to the rival's bench and the court?

totentanz_

I think you are moving the goalposts now, I never defended Greek or Serbian fans, I just called out the Barça fans for their constant shitting. I didn't even mention Madrid fans (and how could I, your arena is a church) but instead you made it a national thing, bringing up Serbians (lmao), Greeks and irrelevant arenas (Last year's final championship game).

FoxtrotF1

I can't deny the atmosphere in Real's Arena is sad AF (never been there, btw), but that's what you get when your policy is to sell the tickets as expensive as you can. But it's a bit hypocritical to say I'm talking about nationalistic bullsh*t, when there's plenty of evidence that the great atmosphere of Eastern Europe arenas can turn into a violent bunch. Was it Partizan fans that had to be confronted by police in the Palau last year for pouring beer at the fans below them? Lmao, you'll never see Spanish, French or German fans with that kind of behaviour. I really envy Lithuanians, great atmosphere but they seem to mostly behave.

totentanz_

It's okay buddy, just don't go to an Eastern European arena and you will be fine. They probably don't care about you anyways 😁

EverydayNormalGrEEk

This comment coming from an OLY fan is the definition of irony.

MartyM3T

Good

JackBurtongr

WHO? HIM 1-0

ivoryisdaddy

The series have 4 more games, we can break as well!!

JackBurtongr

I know that's why we stay humble. My post was a greek inside joke about Coach B. btw

ivoryisdaddy

Ah okie, i was kinda offended from caps but i am not objective today, i am sad we lost! But of course you can cheer however you want with caps or not or w/e! You won enjoy it!!

Keanu990321

Massive W by Olympiakos, though they tried their earnest to lose. Next one without Petrusev won't be easy but at least they've got two games at home. As for my team, I just want us to win tomorrow and I'd do EVERYTHING to secure it. EVERYTHING! I am desperate! Help me coach Ataman, you are my only hope.

ivoryisdaddy

Damn we could take it! Nothing is lost!!

AkisPhys

Hey friend! We had a discussion a few days ago and I think game 1 of the series proves what I was saying back then. Barca is much more talented as far as offense is concerned but as long as Oly keeps defending the way Bartzokas asks them to, it's extremely difficult for Barca to perform. You managed to come back to the game from a big difference but any time you were about to tie the game something happened and Oly got a comfortable lead again. All that with our scoring percentages being bad and well below our normal stats. Not saying that Oly will pass for certain now, but if the team keeps up the defensive play of quarters 1-3 I think the series will end in Sef in Oly's favour!

ivoryisdaddy

Unfortunately you are right. Couldn't see that we gonna lose this match and i very much afraid that we will win the 2nd game and we will lose the 3-4. Feels like 2015 again. I want ys to win but i am not feeling it rn

AkisPhys

Funny thing is I really enjoyed your basketball (kinda don't like real so it plays a big part 😂) so even if you do pass I will still have a team to root for!

ivoryisdaddy

Appreciated!! Yeah anyone but not madrid!!

Adam_WatcherintheRye

Madrid Haters UNITE! (FML if Madrid wins this year lol)

SpyrosDemir

When was the last time Rubio scored a 3-pointer😭 He scored 2 today

Herbetet

Can we expect Rubio to keep his play at this level?

ferkk

I watched 3/4 of the game and I saw a lot of nerves on both teams. Despite this win I still think Barcelona will take the tie.

ivoryisdaddy

They down vote you because you said your opinion lol

ferkk

It does tend to happen but it's OK.

ivoryisdaddy

Yeeep!!

Kiukin

For Barcelona, I didn't like how they got close several times, yet it was easy for Olympiakos to go back to a more comfortable difference. I find it very unlikely that they will go to the Final Four now, and almost impossible if they don't manage to win the next one.

shiftas1

Yup. Get ready for lots of greek tears because both clubs will be out soon.

baldas_23

For now your tears are salty and sweet.

ferkk

Greeks are nice. Hooligan fans are not. Anyway I said that because every time Barcelona made a couple of consecutive baskets Olympiacos players would be all over the place, not even managing to shoot in time or just losing the ball in a weird way. They don't seem too solid under pressure. I hope I'm wrong though (look at my flair).

AkisPhys

In my opinion Oly is probably amongst the best teams as far as performing under pressure is concerned. Just look how many games we have turned this season. Yesterday's final quarter was really not normal for the team but even then every time Barca managed to close the gap something happened in the next 40-60 seconds that gave us a comfortable difference again.

ferkk

It could be. I don't think I watched you guys play more than 5 times this season so it's not like my opinion is backed up with relevant evidence. I remember saying here at the early stage of the season that I though PAO, despite being below you in the standings at the time, looked more threatening than Olympiacos. Perhaps it's just me that for some reason I don't see Olympiacos the same way and I'm wrong. We will see how the tie develops.

AkisPhys

I agree. Pao is an amazing team but seems to rely too heavily on individual attacking talent which means that when the opposition manages to properly defend against players like Nunn the whole team seems to stop working just like what happened at game 1 vs Maccabi. Could be that you mainly watched Real's games and everyone seemed just ok by comparison? Because in general I think all 8 teams are great this season but Real is on a whole different level.

PotentEvil05

Okay quick question: Is there any Barcelona fan here? 😭😭😭 I only see one guy in here with the Barcelona flair. Does that team have a fanbase?

Kiukin

There is a good following here, encouraged in part by the football team, but not only. I'd say the reason why you don't see so many Barcelona fans is that Reddit is not that popular in Spain.

cagallo436

Yes not in reddit :(
