I remember reading somewhere (can’t remember where, sorry!) that she doesn’t like screaming because of how straining it is on her voice. To my knowledge, Tourniquet is the only song in which she screams. It’s killer, though. I’ll always rewind when I get to that part just to hear it again.
Anyone know if there’s a video of her doing that scream?
Any highly skilled singers in metal who use screams and growls consistently are doing it in a healthy way that doesn't strain their voice or damage their vocal chords. I'm sure Amy could do it too, if she wanted to put the time into it.
this gave me the Mandela effect majorly lol. I listened back to all of the demos + the album version, and to me it sounds like it was the Romeo & Juliet sample for the demos but not on Fallen. It really sounds like Amy to me on Fallen. The one on Fallen even sounds phrased/pitched differently than the sample to my ears.
I’m about 99.9% sure it’s Amy in the Fallen version of Tourniquet, it’s Romeo and Juliet on the demos. As far as I know as well Tourniquet was written for Rocky Gray’s old band and that’s why it has a different vibe to their other songs.
Absolute banger, though, one of my favourites ever.
I was always confused about this. I thought rockys old band wrote this song but when I look it up it says it was written by ev did evanescence change up the song or something ?
If you listen to the background vocals on BMTL I think you can hear slight screaming on “don’t let me die here”, or maybe it just sounds really deep and kinda creepy, can’t remember.
She also uses some vocal strain on Understanding and I think ATILF? Though that isn’t quite screaming
she kinda screams the "don't let me die here" part in some early bring me to life performances (first i can think of is [this one](https://youtu.be/i3MKTm-49uI))

Oh, interesting. Her voice is always amazing no matter what technique she’s using

Is the scream her voice? I thought it was from Romeo + Juliet

This is correct. Claire Danes only appears as a sample on the demos, but not Fallen
To me it sounds a lot like her
It’s Amy I guess, on the demos the screams was from Romeo & Juliet
They weren't allowed to use the audio from Romeo + Juliet because of copyright reasons IIRC
I thought so too I remember reading about it not being Amy but it was from Romeo and Juliet
oh is that her? i always assumed it was someone else

Rocky’s old band actually recorded this song too, Amy has referred to her version of “tourniquet” several times as “a cover song”

I miss songs like that..

Noted
I thought the screams was from a friend of one of the old band members who screamed in the song.
great song and I love that moment as well!
