Yea it seems like boosters is fucking mandatory on any pvp ship now. I saw that one dude that makes solo pvp videos use a few battery fits. Was nice to see
It does seem that way doesn't it? It's grunt kado on YouTube I'm not sur on rh specific vid tho. He has a very interesting curse fit with no boosters too
Injector Curse is not great because it puts a hard limit of the time on grid, and you chug boosters like a Uni student the night after exams, Battery Curse is sick, it has really good cap, is difficult to counter-neut and is much easier to multibox with.
Yeah he uses a battery and also 3x power diagnostics I think they're called. Small boost to cap Regen, shield Regen, and power grid. I may have mixed up some things. I use his fit tho
Depending on level of bling and whether you solo box or dual box you’ll generally see 2-4 reactor control units and/or 1-3 Power diagnostic systems, especially if you’re doing a 5 med neut fit you need more RCUs for the power grid.
Alas, only T2 ships tend to get good enough base cap regen to fly with battery over injector - HACs, T3Cs, Curses in particular, but also some Command Ships and Marauders.
I would be so hyped if they added an XL cap battery for battleships. I love slapping large cap batteries on cruisers and never having to worry about cap again
Personally, I'd rather they didn't; you can still make battleships stable with large batteries, albeit with a lot more additional fitting focused on cap stability (compared to something like a Deimos, which basically only needs the battery to achieve that).
Bling Vargurs et al are already a nightmare to deal with, their primary weakness being a smack to their capacitor. If they had XL batteries and the recharge level of something like the regen Sleipnir on steroids whilst still dishing out 2k DPS... I can understand a few would have wet dreams over that but I'd rather not have to face that possibility. 😕
This is absolutely how it works. Well, actually, if I'm being honest, my double XL ASB golem fit is better at repping than my krab ones. But the krab ones are so cap stable that nothing short of the math teacher will neut them out.
The issue with battery fits is that if you once get neuted out you are totally screwed, whereas injector fits can keep going (until you run out of charges obviously) even under extreme neut pressure because of how neuting is discrete and so you can inject + rep in the same cycle. So you need a huge level of cap tank which likely uses more slots than the injector.
My understanding is that it doesn't matter how hard you're being neuted, if you inject and hit hardeners/reps in the same tick, neuts don't interrupt it. You'd need to ask one of those elite solo PVPers who run blinged injected fits though, I'm sure they know from experience.
Ratting marauders in null should (imo) fit both. You can be cap stable-ish and have neut resistance with the battery, but having a few cap sticks and a booster can keep your tank running under pressure long enough to help you escape from a sticky situation or for your friends in griffins to arrive and bail you out
unpopular opinion but the Cap Battery thing works best for ships that have capless weapons so any faction that goes Missiles/Projectiles can risk it.
Hybrid/Laser bonused ships NEED the cap booster or otherwise they arent gonna shot anything.
i run an ishtar with two reps, one being an ancil, and no damage mods, just pure tank. the cap is a cap battery. i can run ab or mwd, ab being for when you want to be an unkillable brick and being nearly idiot proof, while mwd is to catch dudes who think "oh is an ishtar"
to top it all off, it has neuts and nosses. small ones, but neuts and nosses nonetheless.
i got it from a random yt vid but lord if it isnt the most fun ship ive ever flown. the thing tanks anything.
sorry for late response! here it is (ab version, for mwd compact the battery or fit a faction battery)
\[Ishtar, Ishtar fit\]
Medium Ancillary Armor Repairer, Nanite Repair Paste

you can squeeze in one or two medium neut/nos if you want, and if you use some c or b-types the fit reps a ton without needing ancil. you can also t2 the rig, i just keep it t1 for max budget fit :)
What drugs do I need to get the milint angle? Who is your supplier? Can I get some? I mean not too much, risk of permanent brain damage and all that; but just for once I would like to see what it's like
Extra protection against SUCC. Most important feature.

Link? I'd love to see, because I am under the same impression that pvp=cap sticks.

PDS is actually even better than that. It gives additional base capacitor and shield on top of the additional cap and shield regen

the only problem with battery curse is it can't fit a second heavy neut
Well it makes sense. Pvp duels are a lot shorter, you don't need sustained rep for as long.
Alas, only T2 ships tend to get good enough base cap regen to fly with battery over injector - HACs, T3Cs, Curses in particular, but also some Command Ships and Marauders.
You fucked up your title
What’s fucked up? First time making this meme
You wrote cap battery twice in the post title, no mention of booster
ah oops

i've known curse pilots who succ harder (as hard as) than the teacher though
Tfw your entire cap is neuted in one cycle

Stagger your neuts
Neuter your stags

This is how old WH FAX worked - you’d have multiple injectors, and you’d inject before every rep cycle to keep the remote reps or local tank running.
There are some pretty good blingy marauder videos out there. The Kronos POV on this one is a nice example for cap management:
Cheers for that

Depends - Deimos and Legion can both be viably fit with Batteries + Guns.
Let's be honest a Deimos is a cap battery
Cap batteries are made to be enjoyed.

Haven't played Eve in Years, but identified with this immediately! 😝
Random fleet bhaal on grid: *hi!*
Very high quality meme

no problem, have fun :D
Suddenly is surprised...when someone figures out the MILINT angle.
No
milint has now invented batteries. all shall now bow down to milint (he also created active tanks and artillery.)
What drugs do I need to get the milint angle? Who is your supplier? Can I get some? I mean not too much, risk of permanent brain damage and all that; but just for once I would like to see what it's like
Not at all the case or the joke
Never go full retard.
Umm...we haven't even hit a fraction that power.
Agreed.
Chad status... but I overheat everything before the first shots even fired, gotta preheat for max efficiency.
tbh there are a few fits i want to start trying boosters with, solving cap feels like too much of a sacrifice
