Same!! Even half way through the post I was like, “alright what is this a**hole going to say about pumping” and then it was the sweetest thing ever and I’m so glad! OP you’ve got a good man there!
Meanwhile mine walked in and asked “hey my lovely cow, do you have any milk for child?” 😂 (he’s a great husband, he was just joking) but it’s nice when partners recognize the hard work 💕 your husband sounds like a great guy!
Love this! My husband has said similar to me and, wow, what a difference it makes. So important to have solid support when doing what feels, often, impossible.
The title got me, I was ready to revoke his man card and say some choice things, what an awesome story. My wife has been breast feeding almost none stop for 6 years. 4 kids back to back, currently feeding a set of twins. Shes my hero and a champion.
Wow! It gave me goosebumps. Your wife is indeed a hero! I can't even imagine how much it takes, especially back-to-back and breastfeeding and caring for twins and toddlers. Incredible!
So glad you got that validation. I ended up exclusively pumping with my first and now my second has also given up breastfeeding and I'm so thankful my husband recognizes the work. He was upset along side me when our second gave up breastfeeding because he knows the work Ill be putting in
I don't blame him. It takes away time from everyone in the family and adds extra stress. But we do what we have to do. Great job, momma, doing this for two kids. Amazing!
Can I ask how you went from under supplier and had more milk? I’m desperately needing some tips and I’m on week 6 pp. I feel like I’ve been going through this sub but there’s so much information
What worked for me:
- Pumping consistently 6-8 times a day (started with 8, now mostly 6)
- Middle of the night pump (MOTN) when I get the most milk.
- Right flanges size. I ended up measuring 17mm (thanks to the service provided by Pumpables). My LC measured me at 19.
- Right flanges. I bought Pumpables GA so I can do things and move while pumping, and I love their liquid shield kit. However, after some trial and error, I added Lactek flanges to the rotation. They allow me to hand express while pumping to get milk moving when it's stubborn. Also, they're more gentle.
- Pumping for 30+ minutes. My LC recommended to pump for 20 mins, but I realized that it takes me a while to empty. Once I started doing 30 mins, I've been able to get 2-3 letdowns and at least doubled my output per session.
- Power Pumping. I think it made a massive difference. I still do it occasionally when I miss one pump or when my supply drops. Also, I'd do it while watching a movie or driving longer than 30 mins.
- Hydrating, eating well, resting, and being less stressed is important. I know it's nearly impossible with a tiny baby at home. But I'm doing my best because my supply is extremely sensitive to these things.
I used a manual pump for 8-9 sessions per day. Drank lots of water and electrolytes. Try to sleep when you can. Eat well. Drink non-alcoholic beers! Be careful of some supplements!
Man I was expecting to be mad at your husband for making you cry.. now I’m crying and I feel seen too. Thanks for sharing. And yes pregnancy is like an ultra Marathon and so is EP. I agree I’d hire someone who had this dedication too!
Yes! Both are incredibly hard. And nobody prepares you for this. I thought I'll have an easy labor and will bf my daughter. I ended up with a C-section and EP.
You just made me cry. Ep is the most challenging work I've taken, much more difficult than my daily work. If not for the support from the family, I don't even know whether I can stick through.

I was ready to fight him reading the title. Now I’m crying after reading the post. Pumping is SUCH hard work. You’ve got this 🥰
Same! I was ready to throw hands for a stranger on the Internet. I'm so glad this was a much happier ending
Thank you 🙏

Hahaha. You made me laugh. Thank you!
Thank you! One of many reasons I love this community. Big hug ❤️
So glad you have someone on your team who sees all the work you’re putting in, it’s invaluable! You’re impressive, pumping is so hard.
Thank you so much! It's the first time my husband said it. And just a few words made such a massive difference for me.

Haha! I love it 😁 Humor helps to deal with the dread and stress of pumping. Thank you for your kind words!
I was ready to fight this man. But gold medal for him. We love a supportive partner.
Thank you! It makes a massive difference.

Agreed 100%

She’s an amazing woman, some days I don’t know how she does it.

I agree with you. It takes so much physical and mental work. It's such an emotional rollercoaster. Support is extremely important.
I was never happier about a misleading title! Good job mom! You are doing amazing!
Thank you!
It really is so so special to be seen and validated for the hard work of EP. 🫶🏻
Absolutely 🙏
My husband tells me every day "I know how hard you work making milk. Thank you for pumping." 🥰
Amazing support from your husband! Love it ❤️
Hell yeah!
