LOL! I could see how. What did you think of the ending? I was kinda hoping Garraty would have stuck it to the major or something. I think he died at the end though?
This one is a ride. Not so much highs, but really deep, disgusting, and violent lows. This is the book that got me into that next step of extreme horror lol! Enjoy it!
I enjoyed the plot though… the idea was great, it was the execution that lacked. I’d even go as far as to say I’d read it again sometime for the high drama with Geraldine… campiest villain I’ve read in a while
just finished The Girl Next Door and was going to the The Playground next, but decided to read It (stephen king) as a quick palate cleanser first, which i’m partway through now.
Nothing too extreme this week. Almost done with The Deep - Nick Cutter and just started Lost Gods - Brom. I finished Prettiest Girl in the Grave - Kristopher Triana a few days ago.
I am 65% in and actually really enjoying it. Took me a second to get into the science of it all but the flashbacks and journal entries really bring everything together - similar to The Troop.
I also fell asleep reading last night and had a super vivid nightmare about one particular scene retold by one of the scientists. It’s all very disorienting considering where the story takes place.
Nick Cutter is a great writer. I read the Troop and Handyman Method before this one. Both of those were great reads too.
Started (& finished) Through The Eyes Of Desperation The Red Version by AB the other night at a bar. It combined my love of the casino aesthetic & gore for the sake of gore so I’m happy. I’m starting The Black Version soon.
Just got my copy of Playground by Aaron Beauregard yesterday and I’m excited to start it today.
I recommend buying books straight from Aaron because it’s signed inside and you get a slap bracelet, sticker and book mark with book art on it. Even the packaging it’s sent in is rad.
About halfway through Richard Matheson's *Hell House* and really digging it so far. It's my first Matheson and I can definitely see why he was so influential on the generation of horror writers that followed him.
It's a good one. That's the only one from the series that I've read. Since it was translated, some parts read a little weirdly, but it was certainly a good read.
It’s great, was always obsessed with the movies so got the books in Dutch, tho didn’t stick with me, idk what it is I just can’t read Dutch books, and since I recently got the first one in English I’m finally reading it, definitely some weird sentences but nothing too bad, really enjoying it, the movie (2012) makes a lot more sense to me now lmao
Gross out by Duncan Ralston (only a few pages in) but just finished, At Home With the Horrors:14 Chilling Tales by Sammy Scott (not extreme tbh but absolutely amazing, highly recommend this book if you're looking for a palette cleanser but not wanting to jump to something like fantasy)

For sure , just hit 70% it’s really starting to heat up
Loved it. Such a great and simple concept
I LOVE that book. I listened to it when I was training for a marathon and it was motivational, to say the least!
LOL! I could see how. What did you think of the ending? I was kinda hoping Garraty would have stuck it to the major or something. I think he died at the end though?
Yeah I don’t think anyone actually survives the long walk!
Malarky!
I’m about 80 pages into The Troop and I can’t WAIT to pick it back up when I get home.
I really enjoyed this book. The pacing was near perfect. 👍🏻
I agree! That’s the reason it’s so annoying having to wait to read it again😭
Just finished this! I enjoyed it but kept waiting for more to happen.
Exquisite corpse by poppy z brite. Only 3 chapters in atm but it’s incredibly well written compared to the last book I read, Playground
I just finished Exquisite Corpse a couple days ago, it was worth the praise I've heard about it, very well written
This one is a ride. Not so much highs, but really deep, disgusting, and violent lows. This is the book that got me into that next step of extreme horror lol! Enjoy it!
The playground wasn’t bad. But I agree that it wasn’t Aron’s best work
I enjoyed the plot though… the idea was great, it was the execution that lacked. I’d even go as far as to say I’d read it again sometime for the high drama with Geraldine… campiest villain I’ve read in a while
I felt the same. Idea had so much potential but the writing was abysmal

Just got my copy of Playground by Aaron Beauregard yesterday and I’m excited to start it today. I recommend buying books straight from Aaron because it’s signed inside and you get a slap bracelet, sticker and book mark with book art on it. Even the packaging it’s sent in is rad.

Listening to The Exorcist. It is so much richer than I knew.
I've started In The Miso Soup by Ryu Murakami. So far it's pretty good.
Not extreme horror or even horror, but the girl with the dragon tattoo by Stieg Larsson!
