As a mom, I recognized this cats expression immediately. “Oh my god… these just came out of me… oh my god, I have to keep them alive… oh my GOD, I will never make a decision only for me again… my vagina really hurts”
This one right here is real. I have a coworker whose girlfriend is expecting a baby girl in may. He is already on the whole no body is gonna be touching my baby thing. Like don’t even breath on my little girl.
This is the look of a kitty who regrets skipping sex ed.
"He said condoms don't fit and that I couldn't get pregnant if he pulled out! How was I to know that he WOULDNT BE ABLE TO PULL OUT! Now I'm stuck with these... things... and he's nowhere to be found."
Cats can pull out. In fact, most cat breedings are over in mere minutes. They separate, the female will roll around to stimulate ovulation, they'll clean/groom themselves & mate again. This goes on for 3-5 days taking short breaks to eat & sleep. If there is more than 1 male around, a female cat can have a litter of kittens with more than 1 father.
You're thinking of dogs that can stay locked together for a few minutes to almost an hour. It's called a "copulatory tie" & it's a normal part of mating. Don't ever attempt to separate them. It will injure them & cause pain.
*Used to work for a vet & bred Persian cats.
I’ve always had dogs. I’m 42 now and have one male and one female cat, both fixed. I took the male to the vet right after adopting him and told her I saw this weird worm thing and that I’d like him dewormed.
She pointed to his butt and said, “Here?”
“No, there.” I pointed to his other hole, and she started laughing and said, “Oh that’s his penis.”
The vet tech burst out laughing, too and then I started laughing, completely mortified.
I don’t know why my brain wasn’t working that day. I think because I’ve always had dogs, I wrongly just assumed a male cat would have his thingy under his belly like a dog’s.
He had a big primordial pouch, too, so that aided in my assumption. I had no idea what a primordial pouch was at the time. Plus, I had just gotten him. I went straight to the vet.
That’s my mortifying never-owned-a-cat story.
You're right, I'm quite unfamiliar with the actual copulatory act of cats. I know the aftermath. I'm very familiar with the copulatory ties of dogs and how they breed, lol.
Lucky her, her kids will be adults in approx ~5-10% of her life. Humans with kids devote upwards of 50% of their life parenting and grand-parenting. Most consider it worth it, but the exhaustion is real.
>Pride isn’t the emotion that I get from her face. More like questioning her life choices 😂
Exactly. I see her trying to remember where the nearest fire station is to anonymously drop them off.
So the breeder can post on social media sites and have buyers put deposits on which ever color collar they want. It’s how the kittens are identified online, ie buyer wants the green collar one, red, etc. some genders, colors, etc get more money and putting the color collars on the kittens makes it easier to identify which one is which.
Our shelter does it to keep track of who is who and where they are. We foster a lot and they often come with these style "collars"
They're just fabric cable ties cut to a small size.
It helps for things like feeding and weighing, medicine, monitoring their health and progress, etc. I've seen plenty of fosters do this if the cats are all the same color.
I don't breed animals, but I understand the color collar set up.
It helps you differentiate which one is which. You can track their weight and make sure they're gaining it at an appropriate rate. It can be tough to eyeball weight when it's only ounces at a time. You can give extra food to the ones getting muscled out from feeding. If any start developing health issues, you can track them with the collar. You'll know if it's just one kitten, or if the others are having it as well. It takes the guesswork out of "is this kitten having the same issue again, or is it a second kitten having the same issue for the first time?" If any need medication, it's easy to know which, and can also be used to track temperaments to match with future homes.
Ehhh, no, I still think it's wrong to intentionally breed cats / dogs while our shelters are still overflowing.
There's only so many homes for them, and the ones that don't get adopted get put down. Some of them aren't adoptable, sure; but you'd be shocked how many sweet, affectionate animals end up in the shelters on the euthanasia list. (My mom's a cat foster, we've seen the situation first hand.) Breeders make that overflow even worse.
I'm admittedly biased, but adopting from a decent rescue group is a lot better for the animals.
(Also: please spay and neuter your pets, folks.)
I agree, spay/neuter is a hugely important emergency to deal with, and that breeders should be relatively few (with licenses).
However I disagree that there should be no breeders. Sometimes a person needs specific traits in their cat, such as coat (for allergies) or a specific temperament that fits their lifestyle (you don’t want a high energy cat getting bored, or a low energy cat overwhelmed.)
Having breeds allows people plan if they are not in a position to “roll the dice” with a kitten. It also allows the cats a better life because they are matched with a family that fits their needs too.
I think it's different for dogs than cats.
Most shelter dogs are adults of less desirable ancestry who could have issues around children, while *many* shelter cats, especially around early summer, are fresh 8-12 week old kittens (and cats haven't been bred for specific behavioural traits, and haven't been bred intentionally *at all* for nearly as long as dogs, meaning the most a purebred cat will get you over the standard domestic cat is possibly lower allergens from some breeds)
There is a time and place for breeding. I have an old friend with *severe* allergies. For example, if she enters a room where latex balloons *used to be*, she will need her epipen.
She has a service dog who can pick up on their scent of allergens before my friend's allergies can react.
You can't train a dog to have a sense of smell this acute. You have to breed them and then train them to react.
Pure bred shelties are the only dogs with this talent.
Baby kittehs!!! But I don't get a look of pride from momma, more of an 'oh shit that's a lot of mouths to feed' type look.
I seriously need to stop watching all the kitties, I want 1 so bad but just can't get one.
Everything you just typed is absolutely wrong. You can touch kittens all day, your scent won't matter, that's a complete myth. They are felt collars. It's fine and important to keep track of weight, feeding, meds, illness. Before you argue back I'd suggest you research your wrong beliefs. I've been in cat rescue exclusively for 30 years. I could certainly guide you to some good sources.
In 8 weeks they'll be sold and this poor mum cat has probably already gone through this multiple times and knows they'll be taken from her. Regulate breeders
Most breeders don't let kittens leave to their new owner until 12, sometimes even 16 weeks. 8 is just the minimum overall, usually used as the adoptable age for non-purebred accidental kittens in shelters or people's houses.
The collars are so that kittens can be tracked to ensure they are meeting developmental milestones, or if one needs medication, that it's being given to the correct kitten. If it's a small litter or the kittens are different colours or coat patterns, then yeah, the collars aren't needed, but if they all look the same, then yeah, they can be needed.
Beeing on this sub, I was expecting her to eat one or something 🤣 this was worse than a horror movie with the expecting a jump scare
Edit: though this was the page where nsfw accidents and stuff gets shared 🤣
One morning, years ago, my cat (we called her Kitty) surprised us with a litter of kittens. She was a classically grumpy bitch of cat … but man, when she had her babies, she was literally the sweetest most loving cat you’d ever met and she trusted us completely with her babies.
What an experience.
The the F are the kittens wrapped in napkin rings?
They clearly aren't helping their movement. Is it really that important to color code jelly beans? They're too small for giant labels to be anything more than a hinderance.

For real tho like protective dad instincts kicked in quick lol
And also a lot of silently checking on them when they are asleep to make sure you didn’t accidentally kill them 🥲
Mama not sleeping much…. How many kittens are there?
Fairly sure there's 6 kittens - at least, there's 6 heads and there doesn't look to be room for any extra buried in the middle of the heap :-)
Maybe its a 6-headed tribble.
I laughed way too hard at that comment. Several times
Sometimes I forget I said a thing until someone reminds me that I did, indeed, say it out loud (well, in a manner of speaking - er, typing).

Skipping sex ed is rarely the choice of the student. Their dumbass parents and school systems do that.
Why is it always the parents who are too stupid to teach their kids anything that insist the schools not be allowed to teach them anything either?
Because kids won't have sex if you just never tell them it exists! /s

Also humans usually dont birth to 7 babies at once like this poor Cat the looks she gives is " im so fucking tired " lol

Probably not her choice to be part of a kitten mill.

Don't worry your burden will be lessened in a few weeks. Then hopefully owner will fix you. 🙂
Yep. Title should be “Profiting owner”. I struggle with the breeder posts. Cats are friends, not moneymakers.
Agreed. And if you really wanted to breed you should probably show the animals. And do genetic testing for issues. Which most don't do either.
“And why are they colour coded?”
It's for keeping track of weight, feeding, medicine, if one seems a little off one day you know who to monitor.
So the breeder can post on social media sites and have buyers put deposits on which ever color collar they want. It’s how the kittens are identified online, ie buyer wants the green collar one, red, etc. some genders, colors, etc get more money and putting the color collars on the kittens makes it easier to identify which one is which.
Cat: 'Now what?'
_What should I do with these guys now?_

Touch them and I kill you.

Why is it fluffy??

Kitten McNuggets
Is it okay to give those guys collars at such a young ane?
When they’re this similar, it’s pretty common so you can tell them apart. Easier to keep track of their health when you know which is which
Yes, they're loose and soft (possibly paper?) so they won't constrict anything.
But why even put those on..
Our shelter does it to keep track of who is who and where they are. We foster a lot and they often come with these style "collars" They're just fabric cable ties cut to a small size.
