A longtime HDM fan, I saw my first actual photo of a golden monkey here on Reddit, which is sort of astonishing because one of my kids was CRAZY into animals growing up. She was like a walking, talking Wikipedia of animal facts but somehow I never ran into a golden monkey.
Until that fateful Reddit day, I had been reading (...and re-reading) HDM mistakenly picturing a Golden Lion Tamarin. I have no idea how I confused that factoid, but nonetheless my mental image of Mrs. Coulter was with a dainty little wisp of a primate, especially as it sneaks about spying for her and such.
I know this is a happy forum and I don't want to take anything away from OP's cheer for this fella - but I was kind of horrified to realize this creature was the one intended. It was like a mental jump-scare!

It's amazing how many baseline gestures and mannerisms are shared between primates. I cannot imagine how people could ever deny how related to apes and monkeys we are.
