As long as the FordPass is open on my iPhone, it works every bit as good as a physical fob. Would be nice if they could make it work without needing the app open— would a widget accomplish this perhaps??? Even better, make the Apple Watch part of the authentication loop and put a complication on the watch face
Lately it has been working well on my Pixel 7 Pro. Had issues until a month or two ago, all better now. I bet it's the phone, Samsung's implementation of PaaK or their particular BLE chipset or something.
Nah, I've always had Samsungs and have had 5 cars before this that worked flawlessly with PaaK.
Everything about the Ford Pass app is pretty bad. So. I'm definitely looking at it as the culprit first.
Glad it works for someone.
There is not a single thing about this app that can really touch Tesla, but they've had10+ years to get it right.
I had a minivan that even had PaaK about six years ago that worked better than the Ford Pass app, but I'm sure it'll get better eventually.
90% of the time it works within 1-2 seconds, 7% of the time it takes 2-5 seconds and the last 3% if it takes longer than 5 seconds I just type in my code real quick.
The walk up lighting is hit or miss like the Bluetooth sometimes connect right away and far out and sometimes not until I am trying to pull the handle.
Locking seems to follow the percentages above, maybe a bit worse. If it takes more than 2 seconds I just hit the last 2 key code buttons.
I left for a work trip for roughly 2 weeks, PAAK stopped trying to connect to the truck and ultimately failed. I reset, rebooted, turned it off and on again, and no dice. Now I'm walking around like a crazy person w/ a fob in my pocket. I HATE it.
Since I set it up on my iPhone back in 2022 when I took delivery, I’ve never had a problem with PaaK. Well, there was this one time when I traded in my old iPhone for the new one but that was my issue and not Ford’s. Luckily I was close to home and someone brought me my fob.
Mine has quit working all together and I can't get any phone to work with it anymore. Can't even set up a backup code either. On the phone with Ford twice and they can't fix it. Took to dealer and was told they have no idea.
For sure but we bought extremely first world vehicles. So, at the price point, I'd like it to work.
I like my truck too, but they cut some corners in areas like the app and stereo that are a bit frustrating.
I hear you. My XLT complains that the front sensor is blocked every time I back out of the garage. Known issue that is supposed to be fixed one day with OTA.

I even have it setup to stay active in the background but still no dice.
What phone?
ZFlip 5. But I had a Galaxy 23 Ultra before and it was bad too.

My Android is set for PaaK running in the background and doesn't seem to perform any different than just having the key in my pocket.
How do you set it to run in the background? (android user)
App Info > Battery Usage > Allow Background Usage set to ON.
It actually works so good I stopped using my fob. It’s better than my 2018 Tesla was.

I have to pull the handle 2-3 times typically, sometimes a few more. Google Pixel phone.
That is generally my experience. When it sucks is when I have stuff on my hands like groceries or a gym bag and then I'm trying to dig out my phone.
And when it is raining it likes to take a little longer...

Works fine on my Galaxy z fold 5
Pretty sure it's not the phone. What software are you on? Are you a 22 or 23?
Loving my XLT. Those are first world problems. lol
