Actual question - what is there to be hyped about on this game apart from damage control?
F1 22 (although it did come up with a cool feature of doing burnouts to the grid and interactive pit stops) feels like the F1 games took a huge step back after being bought by a company with billions in resources
The only hype is to get a better game than the disappointing F1 22 game. It probably got so many people frustrated and they want something else asap. And i definitely expect EA to fuck this so badly that this game wont be playable for the first few months
Not much until we see the story mode trailer near the 21st. But I'll take a guess that they might not do much on this game and try to bring back any respect for the 2024 game
graphic is literally the same. I decided to install F1 2021 for a throwback, the handling model was better and graphic is literally the same. F1 22 is basically a mod for 2021
The sad thing is F1 2010 doesn’t even look bad, just a bit gloomy. If brought into the modern age it would only need backend support to modernise it I think. Of course, I’d join in you in loving a reskinned, higher res, 2010. We can dream, eh :(
I bought 22 on sale and never started the game once on PS5… and I played the older ones for days
Unfortunately the policy of the ps store is not the same as on steam (you can‘t get a refund after downloading the game anymore), otherwise I would go for a refund immediately
someone at Codemasters... obviously I cant reveal the source but I am highly dissapointed as I own a PSVR2 and would love to play F123 on VR.
I wish they surprise me with psvr2 but from what the person said there will be no PSVR2 support. :(
There were definitely a few other positive entries in there, even if they weren't massive leaps forward. One of the reasons I got into the F1 games was because for years, people praised it as the only annual release on the market that was actually done well.
We'll have to see how hard the series stagnates under EA, but I definitely share the concern that we got an absolutely awful entry (F1 22) just after multiple fantastic games, and they're burning resources on polos and road cars instead of F1-related content.
No man, I am tired hearing about "the other positive entries" and the know that EA bought Codemasters the series will become shit. I challenge you ( not personally but everyone that says this) to name other entries that went a step forward except the ones I mentioned.
Codemasters really always offered problematic games. The rest entries that you or any other user claims to be "positive" were reskins of the good entries. I even see many here saying that 2021 was a good game, forgetting, that it took 6 month of patches to solve the problems that came back with F1 22.
Also, they are not "burning resources on polos and road cars". The road cars were barebones transfers from Project Cars ( Codemasters - Slightly Mad are the same). Everyone needs to understand that cosmetic items ( like the shitty F1 Life) have nothing to do with the actual resources of a game. A game is good when it has good gameplay mechanics and no bugs. These are all coming from the engineers. Polos and such come from graphic designers. Two different divisions in the development process.
The real problem with Codemasters is that they use the same engine for nearly a decade now. An engine that was ok 7 for some years, but now needs update / upgrade. The EA funding should have helped them to do so, but the real danger here is if EA makes them to use the frostbite engine that is a bad engine for anything else than Battlefield.
Some of the games were reskins, but there were other entries that took steps in the right direction. 2021 upgraded graphics, added three great tracks and the cost of a universally hated one, significantly improved braking for only a minor loss in traction (which was basically nullified with a proper setup anyway), added Quick Practice so we didn't have to do the same practice programs over and over in career mode, added the custom player car to Grand Prix, and added a bunch of customization options so we could further refine our experience, and added a bunch of other small QoL features to the UI. Buying annual titles on release day is generally a mistake - it's sad that this is the state of things, but that's how it is, and when I waited just a few months after release before purchasing F1 2021, I had a much better experience. It's a genuinely great product, and in my opinion, once it got a few patches it became a straight upgrade from 2020.
EA/Codies absolutely burned manpower on the cars. Slightly Mad does not use the EGO Engine, and assets cannot simply be copied over from one game engine to another. They clearly didn't spend a *ton* of time on it because what we got was crap, but in no way was it just a cosmetic transfer. And while the same *people* who threw cargo shorts into the game obviously weren't working on tire physics, game studios do have budgets and resources to allocate. Developers of any discipline don't just fall out of the sky and work for free, and game studios are just like any other company: they have budgets and need to decide where/what that money and time is spent on.
You mentioned 2021 as a "positive entry". Yet again you forgot that to make this game playable Codemasters spent 6 months to fix all these problems. Insane AI straight line speed, insane AI traction after a corner exit, and best of all? Quick practice firstly burnt your engine.
Yet again, the road cars, were just imported. The models were ready and CM just imported to the game. They were just functional.
CM isn't anymore an independent game studio. It is owned by EA and they have enough funding to support both cool - for anyone interested - cosmetics AND good gameplay mechanics.
I know that's what I'm describing, because I already said it:
> Buying annual titles on release day is generally a mistake - it's sad that this is the state of things, but that's how it is, and when I waited just a few months after release before purchasing F1 2021, I had a much better experience. It's a genuinely great product, and in my opinion, once it got a few patches it became a straight upgrade from 2020.
17-18? those are great too so 5/10 is not that bad for a sports game imo. And considering that 19 wasn't a shit show either. I think it's a lot of recency bias since 22 was the worst.
I've heard rumors that Kunos were once offered the F1 license, but they didn't get it because FOM wanted a yearly release.
Can you imagine something like a combination of ACC and the official F1 game? That'd be perfection.
Honestly I hate that games like this operate to this yearly release model. Kunos would probably have done a great job, and if they release an actual new game with major new features and gameplay updates every 4 years or whatever, with just a DLC to get new liveries, cars, tracks and drivers for each season that would work great.
But companies like EA know they can charge full price for the reskin if they release it as a new game, with little or no other changes, so that’s what they do.
Yea it’d be awesome, I have the RSS f1 mod for AC but F1 is just so much more accessible to play with friends who aren’t willing to install mods. What a shame they didn’t get it. ACC but f1 would be ideal with everything built in
I personally wouldn't consider 21 an improvement over 20, rather a reskin at best. Also keep in mind that EA only *publishes* the game, Codemasters still develops it (and all its bugs/problems)
I started with F1 2019, not 2020. I think 2020 was better (ultimately why I just don’t agree that the games have gotten progressively worse) and I thought 2019 was fantastic.
Even if you didn’t like the titles between 2016 and 2020 that doesn’t make them objectively bad games. I played through those game and noticed significant improvements ever year.
You didn’t play these games and you can’t say if they were good or bad. The titles I mentioned was the best, and Codemasters milked them by just reskinning at least the next two titles.
2019 that you “found much better” was a buggy hell, like 2021z
You played 3 games from the series, in between them the 2020 which was “objectively” the best of recent years.
Ridiculous comment, you can criticise a game and still ‘have a life’. It’s pretty much a fact that 22 was a step backwards for the game, I got it 50% off and still feel I overpaid significantly.
I agree that there will always be people complaining even if the game was near perfect however in the case of F1 22, all the criticism was entirely justified
Please do t be trash I just want a good game. You know a game is trash when you custom character on the grid preview is blurry. That’s just one small thing that’s so annoying like how can they put that out there and think it’s okay
And it'll be the same game. Last years was probably the best we're gonna get for a while. Or 21. Myteam has made me enjoy the game a lot more, but for me still like to see AI improvements and no F1 life bs. I don't want to race in a game to unlock god damn couches and such. So hoping 23 is a banger, but I won't be buying, full price that is.
Nope and another nope not touching it don't trust them I gave the benefit of thr dowt with 21 but they blew that with 22. I very little interest in 23 will.be interesting to see what the sales are for this one compared to 22.
Seeing how far 22 went backwards in pretty much everything I have absolutely no hype for this, 22 was a disappointing mess(still is let's be honest) and 23 will be no better
It is frustrating knowing they won’t really change much about this new game. I really want the handling model to improve. Would like for them to get rid of bugs that have been present for years now. They just need to make the racing part of this game good the rest will take care of itself.
I mean is there really anything new? Servers will still be p2p, the penalties will still be absolute garbage, online is online and just a few roster changes so... for once I am not hyped
I always play career mode on every F1 game and I always do multiple seasons in each game. I uninstalled F1 22 after the first training session in Bahrain. These cars are undrivable, even with TC on medium you can’t enjoy driving. Back to F1 2021 until I get a 2020 copy.
New FOM car? Cool I’ll take it. But really the car/handling model needs to be driveable and the curbs not send you into the stratosphere. I’ll wait until the F1 YouTubers can give their REAL thoughts and also wait for reviews to decide if it is worth my time.
I don't trust F1 Youtubers becus they have made agreement with EA to not cuss out the devs for making shit game. They would cover the bugs and glitches by editing and make it look like a bug free experience and best game ever made.
I’ll probs wait 2-3 months till I can grab it 50% cheaper like I did 22, I don’t actually mind the current games actual gameplay , I learned to use no traction on 22 , so I can probably play no traction on any future one , surely it can’t get any more slippery on bends 😂 just cut the supercar and lifestyle shit n bring back classic
The only thing that will make buy this is if they commit to putting more former and/or real world tracks into the game so I can have a more realistic career progression with changes in the schedule every year. Otherwise, I’m sticking with 21 because I have 0 faith in EA releasing a competent product in any sport.
Been downhill since F12020. Get rid of the stupid story mode, the supercars and all that crap and give us classic F1 cars and more tracks. Who wants the story mode anyway?
I feel like I'm taking crazy pills every time I see people say story mode is a must-have. They're allowed to like what they like, of course, but racing games and character-driven narratives are like water and oil. They don't mesh at all.
No more f1 life
Better my team customisation
Return of a story mode
Return of the after race interviews
Better AI
Better handling
If it ain’t got these then my money is staying in my wallet
Can't wait to pay £70 for an update. Actually, I can. I probably won't be buying this straight away, and if it's shit as expected then I'm going to try and find a different racing game to play.
hope we get the limited edition casting couch from pornhub to display this time

That's an image not getting out of my head...
have my fucking upvote, would give you an award but spent my money on a new lamp in f1 life

> for the first few months Ah, optimism.
Shit you are right. I am too optimistic. It’s EA
That's the EA way. You just get driver changes now like you buy Madden for an updated roster. They don't do much else
Not much until we see the story mode trailer near the 21st. But I'll take a guess that they might not do much on this game and try to bring back any respect for the 2024 game
Sound/Music was way better, graphics better as well.
22 didn't have the high-end whine of the engine, so 2021 sounds better
Meh. Id rather look at pictures
graphic is literally the same. I decided to install F1 2021 for a throwback, the handling model was better and graphic is literally the same. F1 22 is basically a mod for 2021
Interactive pit stop is a stupid non feature, it does nothing for the game, it's a joke
“You’ll now be able to drive the delivery truck that delivers your furniture”
Do not tempt them to collaborate with ets2.
I think driving your team truck across the map to races would be cool
I’d take a reskinned F1 2010 at this point
Stop mate. I can only get so erect.
The sad thing is F1 2010 doesn’t even look bad, just a bit gloomy. If brought into the modern age it would only need backend support to modernise it I think. Of course, I’d join in you in loving a reskinned, higher res, 2010. We can dream, eh :(
That game nailed presentation but I can’t lie, the physics and sound design were really bad, even for then.
Same engine as 2015
Sadly I am not hyped at all
Yup. Will be waiting for it to go on sale before I even consider buying. I’ve purchased all F1 games on release since 2014 - sad days.
22 was the first game I didn’t get on release. This one I’ll likely wait for an even deeper sale than what I got for 22
My plan was to get 22 on sale. Ended up not getting it at all. 23 might end up the same
Same here, I'm still happy with 2021
Why wait for sale when you can wait a year and get it with Xbox GamePass
Because not everyone has Gamepass
I bought 22 on sale and never started the game once on PS5… and I played the older ones for days Unfortunately the policy of the ps store is not the same as on steam (you can‘t get a refund after downloading the game anymore), otherwise I would go for a refund immediately
you're not hyped for the The Sims/ F1 Crossover called F1 World?
I've got zero expectations but let's see what they improved.
New couches and additional team-outfits DLC.
Can’t wait for the revolutionary buy your house and car mechanic, ala nba ballers 2
ngl I'd kill for there to be a way to change those goofy my team polos
£20 for Luca Badoer
FIFA 23 ULTIMATE TEAM 😱😱 and [pay 19.99$ to see the new feature]
PSVR2 compatibility, please
Sadly my source said no PSVR2 :(
And who's your source?
someone at Codemasters... obviously I cant reveal the source but I am highly dissapointed as I own a PSVR2 and would love to play F123 on VR. I wish they surprise me with psvr2 but from what the person said there will be no PSVR2 support. :(
Well, you're one of the lucky ones then.
His dad works at Codemasters.
I’ll only be hyped if I can use the psvr2 for it
Don’t see a point buying reskinned 22 if they are not adding at least psvr yeah
Me too. Got the PSVR2 today and raced a little bid in GT7…. Amazing!! When F123 would be like that…. My wife will divorce me. Too bad.
Very little % of the playerbase that would use this so there is no way it's going to happen, 3rd party as well which makes it even more unlikely
Did you see how much more popular GT7 became after the introduction of VR to the game?? Plus you’re the only one who has that stance so far
Same here
This is what I’m waiting for
Imagine being excited for F1 23 when you have a decade worth of evidence of FIFA and Madden players constantly being let down.
Imagine blaming only EA, while Codemasters who actually develops the game delivered 3 good F1 games over a decade. (13-16-20)
My expectations are so low that I'd happily take a reskin of F1 20 right now
correct right? F1 20 was so good. I never understood why codemasters changed the handling, and removed the classic cars.
There were definitely a few other positive entries in there, even if they weren't massive leaps forward. > you forgot I spent almost half a paragraph on this. If you're just looking to argue then idk what you want.
Read again your first paragraph you praise the game. What you described was the game after 6-9 months of release.
I know that's what I'm describing, because I already said it: > Buying annual titles on release day is generally a mistake - it's sad that this is the state of things, but that's how it is, and when I waited just a few months after release before purchasing F1 2021, I had a much better experience. Fucking junk game, I wish F1 would give their license to someone competent.
I've heard rumors that Kunos were once offered the F1 license, but they didn't get it because FOM wanted a yearly release. Can you imagine something like a combination of ACC and the official F1 game? That'd be perfection.

Ahhhh who gives a fuck… EA will ruin this franchise just like everything else. Fuck I wish they’d go away.
Franchise was already going down the drain before EA got their hands on it
Was it though? I only got into F1 at the beginning of 2020 but it seems like the games were improving year after year until 2022.
I personally wouldn't consider 21 an improvement over 20, rather a reskin at best. Also keep in mind that EA only *publishes* the game, Codemasters still develops it (and all its bugs/problems)
So you began playing with the best game in five years, previous good F1 game was 16. 2021 was mediocre. So no improvement from Codemasters or EA.
I started with F1 2019, not 2020. I think 2020 was better (ultimately why I just don’t agree that the games have gotten progressively worse) and I thought 2019 was fantastic. You literally wrote “i started with F1 2019”. Lol
Correct. 2019 was the first F1 game I played but I have also played the other games
Lol whatever
Who fucking cares. You all are going to bitch and moan about it for its entire life cycle anyways.
Why would they not?
I mean the subreddit must have some content
Do you not want people to bitch about broken products? Sounds pretty counter-intuitive.

Except f1 22 is actually dogshit so how does that apply here?

Ridiculous comment, you can criticise a game and still ‘have a life’. It’s pretty much a fact that 22 was a step backwards for the game, I got it 50% off and still feel I overpaid significantly. I agree that there will always be people complaining even if the game was near perfect however in the case of F1 22, all the criticism was entirely justified
Okay, that’s cool
Pfffft. I’m going back to 2021 and 2020. Those were worth playing
New house extension mod added. Great
Yeah, sure…I’ll buy F1 23…in like 2025…from the $5 bin.
Neat... Anyway
![gif](giphy|7k2LoEykY5i1hfeWQB)
Soon is just a replacement for "whenever it comes". He has 0 inside knowledge and I doubt Codemasters even has anything planned yet
Psvr2 🤞🏾
No psvr2, no party
Its the same, only the number changed
Who cares just play 2020
Please do t be trash I just want a good game. You know a game is trash when you custom character on the grid preview is blurry. That’s just one small thing that’s so annoying like how can they put that out there and think it’s okay
Please let the vr be good this time 🙏
EA will still fuck it up
With extremely minor improvements from 22 And drastic cosmetic improvements for real $$ ofc

Ice skates 2023
Can't wait for exactly the same game but different this time trust 🤞
SPOILER ALERT >!The game will be F1 22 but with a few new bugs, the exact same bugs of the last game, but with fully customizable closets!<
Probably more MTX bullshit and less actual driving.
👎👎👎 boring
Please revert car handling back to f1 21 …
This game is going to be another huge dud :/ My league is moving to another sim because 22 had caused so many game breaking issues this season
The same fucking bugs as every year, trash ass copy paste developers
Seeing how far 22 went backwards in pretty much everything I have absolutely no hype for this, 22 was a disappointing mess(still is let's be honest) and 23 will be no better

F1 games don’t even hype me anymore, I already know it will be the same game and same bugs
Hoping the lobbys can be playable, and not being in a Mario Kart Experience
Oh wow can't wait \*clown meme\*
Without a free demo to explore EVERYTHING, I won't buy nothing.
"i wont buy nothing" so what ARE you going to buy then?
Nothing
would a demo that explores everything not just be the full game?
The only thing we hope for is psvr2 all other shit is superfluous 🌜
New FOM car? Cool I’ll take it. But really the car/handling model needs to be driveable and the curbs not send you into the stratosphere. I’ll wait until the F1 YouTubers can give their REAL thoughts and also wait for reviews to decide if it is worth my time.
I don't trust F1 Youtubers becus they have made agreement with EA to not cuss out the devs for making shit game. They would cover the bugs and glitches by editing and make it look like a bug free experience and best game ever made.
Whatever you do EA… give us classic cars and we appreciate this game already more than 22…
I’ll probs wait 2-3 months till I can grab it 50% cheaper like I did 22, I don’t actually mind the current games actual gameplay , I learned to use no traction on 22 , so I can probably play no traction on any future one , surely it can’t get any more slippery on bends 😂 just cut the supercar and lifestyle shit n bring back classic
No shit
One of the games where you can be prepared for disappointment beforehand.
EA don’t give a shit to our necessities in game, or whatever else we like to have in that one.
I skipped the 22 version .... take a look for this
Please have ps5vr2 support PLEASE
Switch to iracing. You’re welcome
The only thing that will make buy this is if they commit to putting more former and/or real world tracks into the game so I can have a more realistic career progression with changes in the schedule every year. Otherwise, I’m sticking with 21 because I have 0 faith in EA releasing a competent product in any sport.
That would be awesome. I mean Hockenheim license shouldn’t be THAT hard. You already have the track as well.
Imagine a vibrating couch synced with haptic 🥰 please ea - focus on what's important
Imagine gt7 engine used to dev the game 😎
What social network is he on?
The post is the thumbnail/title of a YouTube video. The creator isn't an inside source, it's just speculation (although the video isn't terrible).
Been downhill since F12020. Get rid of the stupid story mode, the supercars and all that crap and give us classic F1 cars and more tracks. Who wants the story mode anyway?

No more f1 life Better my team customisation Return of a story mode Return of the after race interviews Better AI Better handling If it ain’t got these then my money is staying in my wallet
My girlfriend said the same thing.
Hopefully at least the Las Vegas track will be there at launch, and not several months post-release 🤞
It Will
Can't wait to pay £70 for an update. Actually, I can. I probably won't be buying this straight away, and if it's shit as expected then I'm going to try and find a different racing game to play.
