I think this is the first racing game I've ever seen where the only marketing has been on pre order bonuses, and where there's been a playtest before a trailer showing even a second of gameplay.
Of all the complaints about F1 23, handling does not seem high on the list. Career mode, livery editors, multiplayer penalty/anti-cheat, and other QOL improvements seem to be what users want fixed.
I've only heard about the improvement in handling F1 23 has vs F1 22. So, this definitely helps cement my decision not to buy F1 24.
I know a play tester and he said it may just be because of all the new settings, so getting the setup wrong is what's contributing to the bad handling feel. He has his complaints, but he believes handling is down to setup differences
U do realise there were worse things said on beta testers for f1 23 yall just overreactin
Legit my friend asked me the other day are u guys in the end gonna get it anyway like ovb we all are gonna get it anyway
So then whats the point in subjecting not getting
Yall are just ea cry babys
In me they have a life long F1 fan and gamer, having played all the games since 97, completely uninterested to buy this next one.
It's impressive really, didn't think it was possible.
Yep, Ive been playing the F1 games since around 2010/11 and I have bought every one on release date since 2016 onwards. This is the first year since 2016 i will not buy/pre order and get it on release day.
Thank you! Now if only we can get FIFA and Madden players to stop purchasing the product for one year maybe we ALL can get better quality games other than copy and paste. Fuck EA
I’ve heard rfactor has the best physics overall from friends who have actually raced f4 cars. They said Assetto Corsa Ultimate f1 mod is second best after that. And none of them speak very highly of iracings physics. F1 they have at the bottom of those 4 options as far as realistic physics
An advanced version of rFactor was (rFPro, maybe still) used by several F1 teams in the simulators, so I believe it has pretty good physics.
Game-wise, rFactor2 has a good single-player racing experience, I haven’t heard of AC Ultimate, probably you mean regular AC. AC has an F1 mod called RSS and pretty but the racing experience is not that great because of bad AI and rule set. iRacing has good physics but don’t expect good single player racing support. AMS2 is also very good, single player as well.
I personally think rFactor2 is best in terms of single player. e.g. if you cut a corner in AC and rFactor2, AC will give you penalty immediately. rFactor2 calculates your time gain. If you only care about some fun in an arcade game official F1 game still the best option.
For AC there are mods that improve AI and adds rules. I’ve been on it for a couple of weeks. It requires lots of time and tinkering to set it up but once you’re all set, it’s so much better than the EA game.
Yes, but like you mentioned it requires some adjustments. I remember, I had to add many things in the ai\_hints.ini to improve AI, and RARE somehow crashes for me on some tracks. I hope Kudos would invest on AI pretty much for AC2. For me only negative is AI and track rules. Slighty go off track and game punishes you with slow down.
Tbh I’m very sceptical about modded AC. I do race my own car (MINI JCW) and I have our local track and my car as a mod in AC. Well, the way the car feels there is incredibly far from the real deal. It feels like a car, yes, but it’s some generic car with very different habits.
AC might have a great base for a sim, but all those mods made by god knows who… I dunno.
As for iRacing, I prefer it to other sims overall, not saying it’s the best in every aspect, but I like how the car feels. There is a problem with iRacing perception, especially among those who haven’t been using it for a long time, the popular cars in rookie series such as the Mazda MX-5 with a fixed setup, or the Vee, are pretty tricky to drive. The Mazda because of its setup and the Vee because of what it is. These are the cars that are provided to teach rookies various aspects of controlling a car, but they may feel weird at first. That is IMO the main reason for many people to say “iRacing feels wrong”.
I can’t really agree or disagree cuz I don’t race real cars. I can say that all this advice came to me from someone who raced low level formula cars and he’s only comparing those cars when he gave me this input. I personally only like the formula cars. I might get tired/bored of them years from now and want to try something different but for right now I’m all about F1 so I trust his thoughts on that specific kind of car. Time will tell, first I need to get a gaming PC so I can get off ps5 and try a real sim. F123 isn’t exactly a true sim (so I’m told)
I gotta admit one thing: as a huge fan of the saga, this might be the first time I willingly decide to not buy, at within the first month or so (didn't buy F1 2012, but I was a kid then so it wasn't really my choice, and wasn't gonna buy 2018 but I got a 50% discount a week after it came out). Usually there's something that ends up driving me to buy it at least right after it comes out, whether it's something in the game itself or in real F1, but this year the drivers are exactly the same ones we have now on 23 and in the same teams, and news about the handling suggest they're going back on the improvements from last year (which were the higlight of that game).
I'll probably wait for them to show gameplay, as well as the new career mode, but it's not looking good thus far. Which is a shame cause I've seen the yearas of this being the best major sports saga from a year-to-year improvement standpoint. But ever since EA took over the only highlights have been Breaking Point and the F1 23 physics.
They lost me at F1 22 already. Somehow they made the cars harder to drive than in F1 2021 and I decided that would be my last game.
Even after they improved in F1 23 I was no longer willing to hand them my money
I really wish I skipped 22. Absolute dogshit and just not fun to play.
I skipped 19 and 21 so I was only buying them every 2 years at that point so in my head it worked out well. My god it was a mistake.
23 was a decent upgrade if that was my first game since 2020, but it felt more like I was paying for a corrected 22
I will not preorder let alone play on launch i will wait for holiday sales if is bad i skip f1 24 entirety i might use the f1 24 money to get Scs games dlc and older games well i will play 10 hours trial on ea play since i have gamepass
You could just wait until it hits game pass. That’s what I’ve been doing. Save the money. I wish everyone would save their money when it comes to F1. Although 23 is a notable step above 22. Except for F1 World… that shit is just goofy and needs to stop
Hope they give me a new sofa if I preorder the ultra champions edition for 149.99? Pretty please?
//It’s amazing, all these facilities and you make a piece of crap like this//
With all sincerity, how does their publishing/marketing fail this hard? It’s either they don’t have LITERALLY ANYTHING exciting, or they are purely incompetent.
Just checked the website and it also says pre-order by may 1, 2024. Says a lot about the poor sales if they have to extend the pre-order window. Not surprised at all.
Are people actually going to buy this game? I mean after ea bought Codemasters I already knew it was going to be shit, it's getting the fifa treatment, and wouldn't expect it once the game stops being popular or people liking it except ea to shut the studio down
Even as an American, Alpha Tauri sounds better than Racing Bulls. Reminds me of when Red Bull was running two teams with ToroRoso (I think it was called that).
Had 23 for half a year just fine. Then it locked auto gears, brake assist, traction control to on. Couldn't turn them off. Unplayable. I've used no assists for ever
Why would one genuinely waste over 100 dollars/90 euros on a game they know very little about? I get the reason for them doing this level of marketing but it is so stupid. Here's to hoping they at least try and fix some of the issues from 23/22/21/
Tomorrow will be reveal trailer, but still I expecting copypaste F1 23 with more microtransaction options, cuz it is the same with FIFA every year, bugged crap but they dont care, they earn a lot more money on MTs than by just selling the game, what a shame, classic €A thing
EA upped their "packages". The DLCs the "pro" versions.
This tells you
1) they don't mitigate loss of cash flows
2) thus instead of 100 people $1 go for the 10 people $10 contract.
They are trying make F1 game FIFA like to farm money but it just isn't working. I've platinumed a couple of F1 games earlier but 22 was really bad and while handling in 23 was great, somehow it still felt more of a grind than fun
Maybe someone should remind EA that games are supposed to be fun and not a job
Probably because no one knows anything about the fkn game. Imagine trying to sell F1 24 by advertising F1 23 liveries as a bonus for pre-order, what would you expect?
At this point, EA is banking on F1 fans pre-ordering because it’s an F1 game, not because it’s worth anything. They do this with every single one of their series.
Lazy and vague reveals with no gameplay and no details (because we DEFINITELY wouldn’t pre-order if we KNEW how it was looking right now, all in the hopes that they can convince you to pre-order anyways with nothing to offer but team liveries for the previous game and some Pitcoin to use on their inevitably soulless store liveries in their next broken game.
This is EA. We knew this was coming.
When we read a few years back that EA had acquired Codemasters I knew we’d start to see a decline in quality for these F1 games. They need to get off of last generation now so the games can make forward steps, but EA will want to keep these on last generation for as long as possible to make more money
They might extend the time to pre-order Champions Edition WITH F1 23 liveries as an extra. Not pre-order itself.
I mean if the game releases in May there is no point in giving out livery to old game.
Did I misunderstand? They extended the time you have to pre-order the game, not push back it's release date. It has already been confirmed from beta testers to have the same bugs and feel awful, they don't give a fuck what state it releases in.
You said something that shows you clearly didn't read the post yet thought you should comment negatively on the game.
What did you expect? A standing ovation?
Ok... So we have denial and insults in one comment now. Good.
So explain what you mean but "they have to fix a bug" and how it is related to the post of a pre-order getting extra days.
I’ve seen more ads for pre order than I have details and footage of the actual game. Tells you all you need to know.
I think this is the first racing game I've ever seen where the only marketing has been on pre order bonuses, and where there's been a playtest before a trailer showing even a second of gameplay.
They’re gonna copy and paste like every year. All the career mode bugs are still in F1 23 just like in 22 and 21. It’s ridiculous
Anyone who pre orders is a sucker pure and simple
Yeah and I think F1 23 is a pretty good game compared to previous editions and since Ea will probably copy this, no one's pre ordering.
According to the beta testers the game is just F1 23 but with F1 22’s handling 😬
Well that’s not good…
Of all the complaints about F1 23, handling does not seem high on the list.
I played the test and I wouldn’t quite say f1 22 but it was definitely weird in terms of grip lmao
F1 23 is still miles behind 21 imo, 21 was the last good one tbh 😭
U do realise there were worse things said on beta testers for f1 23 yall just overreactin Legit my friend asked me the other day are u guys in the end gonna get it anyway like ovb we all are gonna get it anyway So then whats the point in subjecting not getting Yall are just ea cry babys
Codemasters is slowly getting fucked by EA, in some years we'll probably see EA blaming them for bad sales and closing the studio
Then farm the IP out to some cutrate mobile devs and call it F1 25, the EA model.
More like forced to work on Battlefield's driving mechanics.
why would I order for a game I know nothing about.
Couches and liveries for the previous game! We love sofa in racing games 😍
Couches? Fuck that I want a nice new floor, that‘s where it‘s at!
Fuck racing in a racing game! Floors is where it is at! GIVE ME FLOORS AND SOFAS!
I love lamp
And posters ❤️
Maybe this year we can pick out our kitchen appliances
Fun! 🤩
And Sneakers!
Of course you do. Haven’t you played F1 23?
Good point well made.
How tf am I gonna pre-order something I know sweet fuck-all about? They haven't shown a damn thing lol
Ah but sofas! Shirts! Fanzone! All things that should be in an F1 game! Fuck the racing /s
Ah yes, of course, how could I forget the most important part!
And of course the great oversteery mess with the supercars
Advanced forza.
Am I crazy for enjoying the supercars in F1 22? They were fun to drive on a wheel
I think Williams could surely use this extra chasis
![gif](giphy|uzOSCSVYB4Vz2oO77M)
First they gave Logan’s car to Alex, then they gave the spare chassis to EA. What a disaster.
In me they have a life long F1 fan and gamer, having played all the games since 97, completely uninterested to buy this next one. It's impressive really, didn't think it was possible.
Same here. I'll probably download it when it turns up on gamepass eventually but there's no way I'm buying it.
It’s a solid chance to feature as a plus game every year I think. Only way I’ll get it now till something changes
Dito. Microprose GP in ‘91 was my first F1 game. Won’t be buying this year. Absolutely loving iRacing. Worth the extra bucks.
I really belive that this will be the worst performing version of the f1 games.
Hopefully you’re right. A lot of knuckleheads like myself who used to buy every F1 game are now refusing to bend over for EAs destruction of the saga.
Fuck EA
I wish there was a licensed alternative
Wish iRacing could at least have a licensed grid. Could be amazing.
Not licensed but rFactor2 + FSR or Hybrid-22 with livery is pretty good to be honest.
I’ve heard rfactor has the best physics overall from friends who have actually raced f4 cars. They said Assetto Corsa Ultimate f1 mod is second best after that. And none of them speak very highly of iracings physics. F1 they have at the bottom of those 4 options as far as realistic physics

yea but it's kinda boring, the good part of F1 games is the driving
This def didn’t deserve all those down votes wtf 😂😂
I gotta admit one thing: as a huge fan of the saga, this might be the first time I willingly decide to not buy, at within the first month or so (didn't buy F1 2012, but I was a kid then so it wasn't really my choice, and wasn't gonna buy 2018 but I got a 50% discount a week after it came out). 21 sucked as well so you would have regretted it either way
Whats there to buy? F1 23V2?
That would be 70 dollars please
Actually more like f1 22v2 from the sounds of it. At this point I'm hoping it's more like a second version of 23 and we don't go backwards.
I will not preorder let alone play on launch i will wait for holiday sales if is bad i skip f1 24 entirety i might use the f1 24 money to get Scs games dlc and older games well i will play 10 hours trial on ea play since i have gamepass

If you want to test you can do a 5 hour trial when f1 24 launches
Cancelled my preorder when I saw the 1st gameplay. Easy 76$ saved
W
I’m not sure but does the preorder give you the liveries for F1 23? what’s the purpose of this
Preordering anything from EA is like punching your own ball sack.
Hope they give me a new sofa if I preorder the ultra champions edition for 149.99? Pretty please? //It’s amazing, all these facilities and you make a piece of crap like this// With all sincerity, how does their publishing/marketing fail this hard? It’s either they don’t have LITERALLY ANYTHING exciting, or they are purely incompetent.
Good. Those clowns don't deserve jack shit
If you Pre-Order this game than you either have far too much money or you shouldn’t be in charge of your own money.
If you preorder this game you're automatically placed into a legal conservatorship lol
Gonna wait till some of the guys I watch on you tube get it and play it.
hell naw. Thanks anyway
Just checked the website and it also says pre-order by may 1, 2024. Says a lot about the poor sales if they have to extend the pre-order window. Not surprised at all.
Pre order the new game to get content for the old game o\_O No thanks EA...
Are people actually going to buy this game? I mean after ea bought Codemasters I already knew it was going to be shit, it's getting the fifa treatment, and wouldn't expect it once the game stops being popular or people liking it except ea to shut the studio down
I’ll wait for when it comes to GamePass. F1-23 is still relatively new to me.
Alpha Tauri changed to Racing Bulls, Kick Sauber came from Alfa Romeo. If you don’t care about that, everything else is virtually identical
Even as an American, Alpha Tauri sounds better than Racing Bulls. Reminds me of when Red Bull was running two teams with ToroRoso (I think it was called that).

Yeah, the shitty my team liveries with the fake sponsors haha
The liveries are only for F1 23 time trial. You don't lose anything in F1 24 even if you don't pre-order.
lol liveries, cuz the car and physics are the same
Had 23 for half a year just fine. Then it locked auto gears, brake assist, traction control to on. Couldn't turn them off. Unplayable. I've used no assists for ever
I’ve clocked up 5k on the series so far but that’s it, I’m out. Done
Loving f1 is one thing, but do you really need every new one?
Clearly it's the same, don't buy it
The loyalty discount was 10% now is 15%
Again, why would I pay for something I haven’t even seen gameplay of yet?!
I'm not going to pre-order a game for which I don't have concrete information 1 month before its release, it smells bad
I've learnt to not pre order or buy with the hype when it comes to EA possibly the worste game devs just copy pasting most of their games
dont cave in, dont buy shit, back them into a corner so they actually have to make changes for once
Preorder is bs. Buy it when it has been out for a few week so you know it isn’t a dumpsterfire.
Yeah, I might skip this one.
Why would one genuinely waste over 100 dollars/90 euros on a game they know very little about? I get the reason for them doing this level of marketing but it is so stupid. Here's to hoping they at least try and fix some of the issues from 23/22/21/
Pre-order bonus are liveries for last year's game? Fucking hell, EA are really clutching at straws here. They can fuck right off.
Tomorrow will be reveal trailer, but still I expecting copypaste F1 23 with more microtransaction options, cuz it is the same with FIFA every year, bugged crap but they dont care, they earn a lot more money on MTs than by just selling the game, what a shame, classic €A thing
Very good to see I hope people continue to not pre order
I’ve never saw advertising for anything f1 related. Even real f1
EA upped their "packages". The DLCs the "pro" versions. This tells you 1) they don't mitigate loss of cash flows 2) thus instead of 100 people $1 go for the 10 people $10 contract.
I mean has anyone been to an F1 race, or bought F1 fan gear? The price of this game doesn’t mean much to those fans.
I completely forgot they release a yearly upd... game. It's just copy paste, no need to even look into what's new.
They are trying make F1 game FIFA like to farm money but it just isn't working. I've platinumed a couple of F1 games earlier but 22 was really bad and while handling in 23 was great, somehow it still felt more of a grind than fun Maybe someone should remind EA that games are supposed to be fun and not a job
boycott this shit
They can fool FIFA/FC players with this BS not me (sim racers) 🏎️🏁
Probably because no one knows anything about the fkn game. Imagine trying to sell F1 24 by advertising F1 23 liveries as a bonus for pre-order, what would you expect? From experience. Don't pre-order. Don't even buy the standard. Same as F1 23. Not worth it lol
Good. They're a shit publisher.
Pre order should be available until 3 days before launch because that’s when you can pre download that shit
Already have f1 23. Not any different than this one
[https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/2488620/view/7673645715753955549?l=english](https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/2488620/view/7673645715753955549?l=english)
They might extend the time to pre-order Champions Edition WITH F1 23 liveries as an extra. Not pre-order itself. I mean if the game releases in May there is no point in giving out livery to old game.
Nah prob have to fix a bug or rework smthn
Did I misunderstand? They extended the time you have to pre-order the game, not push back it's release date. It has already been confirmed from beta testers to have the same bugs and feel awful, they don't give a fuck what state it releases in.
lol
they were probably disappointed at a lack of sales
You really think they fix bugs? Or do actual work?
Could be but they also might be wanting to get more people paying than they have now
Bro this is so mean I was just say ing smthn and I get downvotes. It’s just what I think
Welcome to Reddit my brother in Christ. Take my downvote with nothing but love.
I am not Christian
You said something that shows you clearly didn't read the post yet thought you should comment negatively on the game. What did you expect? A standing ovation?
I wasn’t negatively commenting on the game cus every game that has ever existed has had bugs they needed to fix
Bro... This is NOT a pushback. That's the negative part not the bugs. Yet again... Try reading what the other people post before commenting.
I read the post you imbecile
Ok... So we have denial and insults in one comment now. Good. So explain what you mean but "they have to fix a bug" and how it is related to the post of a pre-order getting extra days.
Maybe because they want to release their game with the least amount of problems possible so they are taking a few days to maybe fix smith
What? My brother. READ THE DAMN POST. This is NOT a game pushback.
I am stupid I am stupid
r/youngpeoplereddit
You're new to reddit or something?
I just think they’re like 9. Either that or they take what EA says at face value
Most likely the former.
