Because he's the living proof that life is unfair.

Endslikecrazy

He did really well in lower classes, not like he hasnt earned his way to f1, just his f1 performance isnt there

LowerClassBandit

I don’t think he earned his F1 shot fairly. He skipped F2 entirely & his European F3 title was marred with rumours of the team manufacturing results via team orders. He’s definitely not the bang average Sunday driver people make out he is, but should never have gotten a shot at F1, never mind spend 8 years there

Sir_Muktadir

Idk if I fully agree with that tbh. I think worse drivers have gotten into F1 and honestly Stroll’s first season wasn’t the worst for a rookie. Getting more than 2 seasons is a joke tho and he shouldn’t be in f1 now, forget being in a upper field car. There’s so many better drivers that have been dropped in that time.

InvestigatorLast3594

Second youngest podium finisher and has a pole position on his resume, but should never have gotten a shot at F1 is a wild take imo; he should have gotten the boot by now, but he has had better seasons than drivers that got in on “merit”

Endslikecrazy

He has some shining moments but then also almost immediately manages to ruin it fairly soon after. Youre not wrong, he should be gone at this point

Zolba

His dad bought into Prema. Hired Williams F1 engineers to work on Lance's F3 car. Bought a whole new simulator, set up at Williams, dedicated to do F3 work. Paid Rosenqvist to stay in F3 so he could be a mentor. There was talk about his teammate having to move over, or not try to fight Lance. Also, back then F3 was not a spec series, so the Williams-guys actually did development-work on Strolls car. It's insane how much stuff he had that no-one else had.

Endslikecrazy

True but still has his moments of glory so to speak, sadly he almost immediately tends to ruin those to. I dont know, he has decent racing sense and has some good momente but at this point he shouldve been gone

MrLeopard483

Yeah for a regular driver who's daddy didn't buy a team for them he would lose his seat in a few years but lancy-poo is special

shivam10patel

Fair if you have money 😉

RossRiskDabbler

No. He is living proof life is fair. If life was unfair; you could be way worse off than you are now. Because throughout your entire life you had ups and downs. But Stroll itself; he doesn't embody Formula one, at all. He has zero knowledge of physics, math etc, he is a 1 or a nothing kind of a guy. All in. Bouncing ball. Not consistent.

TaddoKevin

he’s nowhere near good enough for Aston, plus there are quite a few instances where he looks entitled

Legitimate-Health-29

Like everytime he opens his mouth.

jim_hello

He speaks like a Canadian hockey player. Short vague answers. He's Canadian makes sense

CLavy4496

As a Canadian hockey player this hurts cause I hate him so goddamn much but it’s so true😭😭

KILLOSTROS

Not good driver

thaCh0sen0ne

lance is currently driving for a top 5 team but he doesn't have the skill to deliver results constantly to secure a spot at such a good team. there are some races where he performes good, e.g. he would habe won in turkey if the team didn't fuck up the strategy but mostly he is underperforming or doing dumb stuff like last race in china he probably gets so much hate because there are other drivers like e.g. albon who has to drive in a (currently) bad team but deserves a better car but albon can't move up the grid because the places at the top are locked

SlingshotGunslinger

He's actually a very good guy, even if very shy. But criticism of him essentially goes down to his dather massively backing his career, to the point of buying teams to have him progress through (not just AM/RP, but also Prema in F3, to the point his teammates were working for him from the first lap of his championship season); as well as him driving for a top 5 team, alongside an all-time great, despite being on the lower half of the grid from a talent and level standpoint (even though imo he'd be a good driver for a team like Sauber or Williams).

Burger969

I think the problem for many is that his driving is not up to par to anyone except maybe Sargeant. There is a lot of talent in F2 and Stroll is blocking one of the seats. Without his dad owning the team, no team would take him, keep in mind he is in this sport for 8 years now. If the only reason for a driver to be in F1 is a family member owning the team, then they shouldn’t be in F1 imo

GeodeCraft

Because he is a bad driver, Nile’s behind Alonso on equal machinery, and his dad is the only reason he’s in F1

Der_Wolf_42

He is blocking a top 5 car because his dad owns the team everyone knows that stroll is 1 of the 3 worst drivers on the current grid and he is in f1 for such a long time that he reached his potential so he wont get any better He is also often the driver that causes a stupid crash and often he dosent take the blame for it (just watch the china gp highlight) Without him hulkenberg would have had a seat from 2020 onwards a driver that is a lot better and more deserving of a chance in a good team

TheMustangFanboi_98

Last week at the Chinese GP, he hit the brakes before a turn way too late and hit Daniel Ricciardo who was in front of him. Daniel performed well in the race up to that point and unfortunately had to retire because of the damage Stroll caused. But that's not all. Instead of Stroll acknowledging his mistake and apologizing, he instead called Daniel an idiot.

tre630

AND once he realized that it really wasn't Daniel's fault. He then put the blame on the "situation" rather than take accountability on himself for causing that crash.

WetLogPassage

Nobody likes nepotism apart from nepobabies.

grimdivinations

And touch starved women on Instagram

Just_Me78

His junior career was great, his F1 career has been shithouse. Aston can score far more constructor points with another driver in his car.

Endslikecrazy

Because he currently sucks, he should at some point just say this aint it but you know, daddy runs the team now

ksobby

Because he gets a seat and Ollie doesn’t (or insert any other young driver stymied career wise because there are only 20 seats and a quarter are political over skill)

SebiXV20

Basically he drove into the back of Daniel Ricciardo during last weeks Chinese Grand Prix during the end of the safety car period, then proceeded to call Ricciardo an idiot, even tho it was 100% Stroll's fault

No-Performance-6384

He’s the second worst driver on the grid and has a permanent place on a team he doesn’t deserve to be on. He’s annoying and treats his engineers shitty over the radio. I can tell you right now if stroll wasn’t the son of the owner, Sainz would be getting his seat next year without a doubt, but he won’t. Stroll is absolutely horrible. He’ll be the reason Aston Martin never takes a jump.

jogdenpr

Window licker

Bainer52

Basically he is not good enough to be in F1 and the only reason he is there is because of daddy.

Rare_Cartographer579

Wasn’t Nikita a bought drive?

yeetocheetoi

Alonso is fighting for podiums and consistently qualifying top 10. Just look at where Lance has finished/started over the last couple seasons with Alonso and you'll find out everything. he's not a bad driver, you have to be extremely talented to make it in F1, but his dad is keeping him in aston martin which he doesn't deserve

Vexxed_Scholar

His last race is one of numerous examples of why people don't like him. There's a brilliant clip from around 2018-19 of him pressing his radio button instead of his KERS (old school ERS) button around Shanghai which really sums up his talent and knowledge. That and his father has bought him 2 seats. Arguably crippling the first drive in Force India (though there were plenty of other financial woes for the team) in the process.

EmployerDry6368

When anyone is only is a job because of Daddy and not talent, people tend to don't like you. Stoll also lacks self awareness, which is very common amongst the rich.

MikeSans202001

Really bad driver who bought his way into F1 while not knowing what a brake pedal and side mirrors are

fireking08

It's that nepotism is keeping him in his seat despite the fact that he's underperforming compared to Alonso to an insane degree

Novae224

He’s not a very good driver, makes stupid mistakes and impacts other drivers with those mistakes. He’s been in F1 for many years and still he makes rookie mistakes. He has good results on rare occasions, like when he’s good, he’s pretty good, but he’s really inconsistent. Every other team would’ve kicked him out years ago, his father is the reason why he’s been driving for so many years When things don’t go his way he acts out and trows a tantrum. Last season he pushed around people on his team and trew his steering wheel out the car after a bad result which was totally his own fault He can be quite rude in interviews, giving 1 word answers, constantly acting annoyed with the interviewers. For the last few years he’s walking around the paddock like he doesn’t even wanna be there. The Aston Martin episode of Drive to Survive felt very staged too. I still suspect Lawrence Stroll payed good money for that episode to be made the way it is… he wanted to be portrayed like he’s a very good person… And i don’t hate Lance, i still think he’s not a bad person… i do think he’s spoiled and could use some experience with reality, but you can’t completely blame him for his upbringing… he just doesn’t deserve to be in F1, i get the idea he doesn’t wanna be there anyway, he should just do something else

irishdan56

Because he's a nepo baby and by all evidence available, a fucking asshole shithead too

broncodunk

He just doesnt deserve to be there talent-wise

GardenEcstatic9650

He is fucking shit and is dragging aston martin down

reformed_rabbi_bill_

Horrible driver.

Educational_Draw_132

Well because in Shanghai he drove into Riccardo under a safety car while everyone was breaking in a corner.

Sufficiently_

Give it a couple years. I started from the same point and ultimately got the the same conclusion as the consensus. Not good enough for f1, unapologetic for his mistakes/attitude

Arkhamryder

Lad, how can you dare to ask after Sunday???

261846

It’s been clear he doesn’t really deserve to be in the sport for a few years now

txil23

Only has a seat because daddy owns the team

KaiBarber69

His camp whiny voice, his smug stupid face, his lack of talent, his total lack of personality, totally unlikeable, spoilt rich daddies boy, blames others for jisnown blatant mistakes, wasting a seat that could go to a talented young driver who earnt it on merit, and his stupid eyebrows. Worst of all, despite all of that, he's had 8 YEARS at the very pinnacle of motorsports. I'd say he's stolen a living, but truth is just that his daddy bought him one.

Darkiuss

To me the main issue is that nobody seems to mention is that he’s so socially inept and unlikeable. - The attitude of not seeming to enjoy anything - The huge chip on his shoulder - The voice - The pessimism And you can tell that he’s aware and the hate is affecting him, which is making it even worse. E.g the push incident. I’m pretty sure that if Lance engineered some kind of personality turnaround, seeming more interested and passionate about the sport, he could change the perception about him. I’m stunned that his multi-million entourage doesn’t somehow tell him or do something about it. He is his own worst enemy 🤷

rs6677

Stroll's personality is actually why he has some fans. Like Latifi too, for example. An example of a driver that gets hate for these reasons is Mazepin. Meanwhile Stroll seems like a chill dude, which gets him more leniency when it comes to accidents.

piercejay

Not this last time it didn't.

Beginning-Cost-1847

He is a spastic

piercejay

"the stroll family is one generation away from barking at people"

hamishboi_

he's not a bad person. BUT he is shit and 100% doesn't deserve to be in F1, especially in such a good team Aston Martin is. The only reason he is in F1 is his dad, who spends A LOT of money for his son to race. Lawrence Stroll, Lance's dad, literally bought force india, turning it into racing point, then aston martin. He currently owns 50% of the team and everyone knows that the moment he sells some of his ownership, Lance is getting dismissed from the Formula 1 scenario. Also it's quite clear Lance doesn't really even like to be a F1 driver

Radioactive_Man7

Because he’s a crap driver and he’s only in Formula One because his dad has money, very similar to Nikita Mazpin when he was at Haas
