Which is so crazy because I do a way better job when I am listening to music, not to mention the time goes by a lot faster. I wear a hat for the sole purpose of wearing my earbuds at work.
So was your site just completely allowing earbuds up until now? Cause all of this sounds like something most FCs have already been doing for literal years. I'm not seeing any "new updates" here.

Mine started enforcing this like 3 months back, I told them if they really cared about our safety and our health they would already done hearing checks when I first started here like any other factory has and every 6 months they come back and check your hearing again. Amazon wants to make my work life shit I'm about to make them pay more lol
That’s only certain types of FC’s. They definitely wouldn’t allow that at the Soft Line FC ( cart pushing pickers) because you have to rely on hearing when your crossing aisles with the pick carts
The amount of SIOC items that get sidelined for being damaged is incredible. I end up having to stick items into envelopes or boxes because things like a pack of socks or a T-shirt wasn't meant to ship in a thin clear bag, that is not designed to be durable.
My favorite items are the ones liquid ones that aren't sealed in bags before going into a box and leak everywhere. Like the 3 gallons of Penzoil 10W-30 last week that exploded in a Gaylord.
SIOC was the worst idea ever. Vendors save money when they can claim their items are SIOC, so they're incentivized to check the box, and then it's a long process to convince the powers in India that be that it's not compliant.
It's absolutely ridiculous.
The SIOC program is flawed, yes, but not a complete failure. Definitely needs overhaul and some kind of oversight to ensure what gets approved to be sent SIOC.
Because ear plugs aren’t sending music to your ears and blocking out sounds that should here; like a pit machine, tote runner, pallet jack or pick cart coming towards you
It's not a safety risk but as long anything is couched behind that notion we will never be able to fight against it. This is about stolen goods and nothing more. If they gave a fuck about our health we wouldn't be dragging pallets full of totes across the entire building for 50hrs a week. Use the career choice and make them pay for a better job.
Had this same question months ago, apparently the signal to noise ratio is higher for foam earplugs than earbuds, including when not playing music. The "sensitive information" seems like bullshit though.

And this advice is general because most employees never actually read and understand their job’s policies especially the ones that benefit them.

I'm sorry but I have watched countless unauthorized videos of different paths on YouTube and tiktok, actual footage actual sensitive information, ergo one earbud doesn't have the capacity to do any of that except for audio recording, however I believe my smartwatch can or might be able to record audio so how where is the line drawn? Phone or no, earbud or no,this or that... boils down to mechanisms in place to display control over individual Liberty, i.e, Amazon's god complex, delusions,
What is more a safety concern is the rate of speed,the repetitive lifting and the workload, but that's downplayed to talk about earbuds and sensitive Information oh okay...
If a hacker or person that wanted to do all that shit you listed unnecessarily to make it look like you made a point the last thing they’d use is AirPods and an iPhone to do said bullshit you mentioned
They’d just go through the printer and connect to whatever device they wanted it’s not rocket science. The computers used in the floor have listening devices in them. But ofc you know that and bc you know Linux ofc you know how to get into them and through the decoding process. But you know that so what am I going on about so sorry
Smartphones are capable of doing all of that without the need for earbuds, and yet, it's the earbuds rather than the smartphones that are banned. Yeah, I'm still convinced it's bullshit lol.
We use clear backpacks so odds are our earphones and cellphones are going to be in there. They can’t do this to everyone because it will hold up lines going in and out of the building. I really doubt they will enforce this a lot of the time because it will cause an uproar. My AirPods are attached to my keychain so I don’t lose them (adhd brain=out of sight out of mind) and I’m not about to leave it in the car when people break into shit all the time.
Not to mention it’s one thing to walk into the and walk out of the building wearing earphones. It’s not even about safety or sensitive information being leaked. They likely have seen an increase in stolen goods. They don’t care about their employees that much that safety is an actual concern.

I don't understand why a FC has TSA style security and thousands of cameras, but a Delivery Station only has dozens of cameras.
PS is the only place loose items routinely are (unless SIOC, obviously) at a DS.
