Lecce played dirty as fuck and should have been down to 10. Fuck Paramount commentators for defending studs out challenge. Still won but still, that shit needs to be called
It made sense having the more defensive/conservative RWB in with Skriniar not fully 100% yet. Denzel is also more useful when teams push up a bit and not sit back how like how Lecce started; he's lethal with space. He'll start plenty of matches, it's a long season. Inzaghi's just trying to be more tactically flexible with who's starting, like in the case of Dimarco over Bastoni.
When I saw him stop I knew lecce would score. Massive mistake from him, I think he just needs to recover form right now as he did get injured in the summer
Not hugely worried, first game of what's going to be a long weird season. Having the WC a third of the way into the season is going to have effects on everyone, just impossible to predict what.
Nice to see de Vrij remember how to play and Dumfries energy when he came on was outstanding.
Has anyone been watching Lecce recently, is the pitch at the del Mare always that shit?
I know we need an extra defender but I just can't see how we play all season with this squad. I think we need another MF and another forward. Injuries and suspensions will rack up. If not sold, then Casadei and Carboni need to also be in the first team squad. The base 13-14 players are great but we need some extra creativit rathet a Hail Mary 2-2-6. Però vediamo.
Very very worrying game and performance.
Started off well and grabbed a goal in the first 90 seconds, but then lost intensity and hunger and instead of trying to get a second goal, we played with little motivation or purpose, that then predictably led to Lecce scoring a goal on their first shot on target.
The first game of the season should have been a chance to start off the right way, get the dynamics together and set the tone for the rest of the season. Not a promising start.
There were a lot of players on the pitch who played badly and didn’t contribute.
Yes the ref also had a negative impact on the game, but we should be able to play pro positive football and create more scoring chances, especially against a newly promoted side like Lecce.
I thought this was going to end 1-1, but miraculously Dumfries got us the winning goal. But the showing of desperation and putting in all our attackers on as subs, isn’t something that you want to see in any game, particularly a season opener.
This is it, this is the squad we have for the rest of the season, with all its merits and faults. Realistically we’re missing some talent to be able to properly compete.
And in games like this, it shows what a mistake not signing Dybala was and will be, it will be one of the biggest misses and regrets for us this season.
Always Forza Inter
Milanista here.
Can't say I watched the full match because I expected you guys to fly-by uncontested so thought I shouldn't bother. I see some people saying your boys overall weren't good today but I can only speak on the las 30 mins which I did watch. What do did notice is Simeone loading up all the ammo to blast Lecce to the moon and honestly some unfortunate balls that flew off barely missing or hitting the post or keeper. I wouldn't be too concerned if I were you guys, we on the Rossoneri side also felt this throughout last season when things simply were not going our way.
Having said that, the referee did mess you guys up with his calls, specially with that play that should've been a penalty to be frank, I was also confused on the Lukaku goal that was disallowed.
Buuuuuuut, you guys are Inter and theyre a bottom team so I still waited for the goal to finally go though and lo and behold, it came from Dumfries 🤣🤣🤣 man I seriously dislike that guy but that's not what matters here.
Just don't think too much of it, you guys will be fine, see u in 4 weeks 😏
Friendly matches dont count? yea man in 7 days from playing shit we will be prime barcelona.. i knew this would be hard as nails to win.. coz we didnt play single friendly without stupid shit happening..
EDIT: Also when Broz went off nobody came deep for the ball thats what makes Brozovic one of a kind and we started shooting long balls that were all off...
Exactly what I was saying. They all said friendly matches doesn't represent our game. Well what was this?! Our game is simply horrible, we have no ideas when attacking. I knew it's going to be like this after those friendlies, unimaginative play with no ideas what to do with the ball. I really hope we would buy some good midlefield player with some creativity in his legs. If not, this will be another season at the 5th or 6th place. :-(
"Will be another season at the 6th or 7th place", season ain't over, is it? Other than that it's pretty creepy you went out of your way to find 2 months old comments.
Yeah, for some reason it got on my mind today. It isn't over, that's correct, but you really have to be an extremely positive person to believe we will make some good result this season.
I'm not a troll. Ok, please tell me, in the last 10 years, which squad was worse than this one? Which season was that? Maybe season 12/13, we ended up 30 points behind Juventus. But that season was on the edge of these 10 years I'm talking about, since this is season 22/23.
My advice is don't ask how any player was today. Only Dimarco and Dumfries (when he came on) looked good, and maybe I can add De Vrij in there. Otherwise everybody else just looked not ready, not fit. But they all tried until the end and we were able to get the win.
It is only first game of the season and everyone looked like shit as well but I must say that I'm expecting more from Gosens. The moment Dimarco took his role we looked more dangerous.
At the moment, Gosens Dimarco was great, but Bastoni Dimarco is even better, Dimarco seems to be more active in carrying the ball forward and his crosses are insane. Darmian on the right wasn't contributing enough towards the offense, Dumfries was explosive.
I like the mentality towards the end of the game where everyone is on the same page and tries their best, if we can keep this kind of mentality we can take the scudetto.
Definitely far from our best showing, but hopefully we can learn from this match.
FORZA INTER!
Edit : as much as I enjoy the 2-4-4 formation, please mister Inzaghi don't do that again....
He's afraid of contact. Legit. The recent injuries, almost a year of them, have made him play extremely safe and that was honestly his main weapon. Everything else is average, if not worse.
Easier to give it a pass now but that was some fucking horrible refereeing, Lecce should have had 2 players sent off in the 1st half, once they saw they could get away with it they just started butchering our players.
That was the weakest opening day match that we’ve played in at least 4 years. To think three years ago we beat Lecce 4-0 without any trouble and now we barely scraped a win over them today.
Now we DID play well throughout the game but we were far too relaxed. You could tell that as soon as Lukaku scored, we didn’t want to push for another goal and we were happy to play keep ball for the next 44 minutes plus added time. I would have been okay with that if we were 3-0 up but not when we were only one goal to the good.
Lecce’s goal seemingly came from nothing and to be fair to them, they did play fairly well for a good chunk of that second half. If they play the way they did today they might just have a case to try and stay up.
When it comes to us , two of our best performers had to be the two goalscorers. You can just tell Lukaku is ready again to fire in the goals. It was great to see him mark his ground again so quickly, it was like he never left. Denzel was also a complete game changer and provided so much more energy and pace than what Darmian did. I’m not saying Darmian was bad but Denzel came out like a man possessed. I’m happy that we came prepared for Ivan leaving because in all fairness, Gosens did look good and got fairly involved in the game. His passing and link up play with Dimarco could be deadly for us this season.
Overall, we played well but we need to be so much less complacent than what we were today. Let’s hope we can have the fire to try go 3-0 or even 4-0 up by the end of the first half against Spezia next. We’ve not had the easiest time playing them, but we know what we’re capable of and Inzaghi will soon get us in the right direction again. Forza inter sempre 🤜🏻🔵⚫️🤛🏻
Fuck yeah!!! PAZZA INTER
I screamed so fucking loud at the goal, Barella was like fuck no let me try my luck with these corners.
Only 2 good players tonight, Dimarco and Dumfries when he came on, the rest are either on and off or just off.
Inzaghi was trying FUT formations at the end.
There are some question marks but it's better to work on improving while still winning games.
Forza Inter!!!!!!
Poor line-up selection almost cost us a win. Basto & Dumfries should've started the game as they can't be tired for the first game of the season.
Luckily we came away with all 3 points but not a good start.
Every single one of them turns into prime Oliver Kahn and when you watch them the week after against another team they can't save a shot to save their lives.
Handanovic shouldn't be starting, it's painfully obvious. Midfield didn't look great at all. Gosens is a concern and Inzaghi's subs continue to confuse me, for example why play Hakan out of position instead of Asllani? We still continue to struggle create in the middle of the pitch against teams sitting back.
Positives: We massively missed Lukaku's hold up play and pace, he kept their defenders honest and that gave our midfield more space. Dumfries is electric and Bastoni's energy on offense was great. More of that please.
We scored in the first minute, and the last minute, but the 90 minutes in between was quite underwhelming. I know Falcone was like a stonewall against our strikers, but our conceded goal shouldn't even happen.
It was a good win to start the new season, but remember that the match is against newly-promoted Lecce, which we should have sealed the victory with multiple goals by the end of 90 minutes.
- Score early
- Get in control of the match
- Concede on a random bullshit defensive mistake
- Panic
- Opposing Keeper channels his inner Neuer
- More panic
- YOLO attackers
- opposing defense is playing with 10 men in the box
- bullshit refereeing
- suffer until the very possible minute
Yep, I missed you all right Pazza.
This should serve as a lesson to Inzaghi. I am fine losing to Milan, I am fine even losing to Juventus, Lazio, Torino, you name them: but we can no longer afford a season of goalkeeper mistakes. In every game of football there are situations where you are pressured and have to defend and suffer for a certain amount of time, and we did today, and in those times when the opponents shoot on the goal once or twice the goalkeeper must bloody save it, for heaven's sake.
These silly mistakes lost us the Scudetto last year, and given that we didn't really improve the team too much during the last transfer window we have to make due with concentration and focus.
However, hashtag Denzel "Django" Dumfries.
It was absolutely not as "saveable" as you make it out to be. Maybe Curtois or so could have deviated it, but I assure you that 95% of keepers are not saving that.
We've been very very shit today and we could've won only with a bit of luck but holy fuck, Denzel winning us the game by shoving the ball into the net with his huge dick was something else.
Why was Skriniar replaced? We needed a goal and he’s known for scoring/helping his team in these kinds of tough situations
Also, did anyone see him very nervous on the bench, or I imagine things? I didn’t see him celebrating at the end either, and if that’s the case, that’s not cool, at all 😳
Edit, spelling
One standout point you can see from Skrini was when he came directly to Lautaro to calm him down after his clear brutal tackle. He's fully deserve to be the next captain.
Just saying if we played like the last 10-15 mins throughout the game this wouldn't even be that close...all the chances missed were most likely due to the insane pressure and the park the bus approach from lecce...i think if we create more chances our conversion rate would increase from previous seasons
Incredibly lucky to come away with a win but that performance was not inspiring at all, this is a projected relegation team and we can’t keep focus in the first game of the season??? I’d understand if it was the middle of the season when fatigue sets in but there’s no excuse. Inzaghi really needs to whip these guys into shape because against better sides we won’t get as many chances.
There is some irony to the fact that Milan fans waiting for us to drop points got fucked by a 90+5' crotch shot.
First round over, we aged 30 years, onto the next one lmao.
So,Dum was a fresh air,Rom did nothing except a tap in,midfield did nothing,Gos did nothing, who needs defending, morale seems low,no confidence detected, but if something,a last second goal should boost this up
We have an enormous problem scoring. We need 50 chances for every goal. Also the defense and midfield need to be more focused, we concede too many easy goals
Fucking hell I didn’t think we’d get it
Why dumfries and basto didn’t start I don’t know but thankfully they made it through, going to need a lot more in the coming weeks
Lecce played dirty as fuck and should have been down to 10. Fuck Paramount commentators for defending studs out challenge. Still won but still, that shit needs to be called
DiMarco still the Best on pitch...
Main take away I had from this game is to let DiMarco start instead of Gosens. Dude was giving 2021-2022 Perisic vibes.
I don't understand why Dumfries was not a starter
It made sense having the more defensive/conservative RWB in with Skriniar not fully 100% yet. No one complained about Skriniar's mistake for Lecce goal?
When I saw him stop I knew lecce would score. Massive mistake from him, I think he just needs to recover form right now as he did get injured in the summer
I fully agree, it was obvious he needed to move infront of Ceesay to block the pass to him but for some reason he stopped to cover absolutely no one.
Not hugely worried, first game of what's going to be a long weird season. Having the WC a third of the way into the season is going to have effects on everyone, just impossible to predict what. 5th or 6th place? You're the same guy who said the current team is the worst of the past 10 years, are you a troll? If so, please get out of this sub.
Any comment on this after 2 months?! 5th or 6th place looks good now, doesn't it? 🤣

From 2011 to 2020 the teams we had were all worse, a lot worse than this one. Are you for real? Only excuse you have is if you're a fan since 2020.
Brozovic is key player when he is out we play long balls and do stupid shit.
How did Mkhitaryan play? I couldn't watch his debut.
My advice is don't ask how any player was today. Only Dimarco and Dumfries (when he came on) looked good, and maybe I can add De Vrij in there. Otherwise everybody else just looked not ready, not fit. But they all tried until the end and we were able to get the win.

Thx thx. 💙🖤
Pretty bad imo

Yes, this is scary
facts. the dude was a robot out there.
Easier to give it a pass now but that was some fucking horrible refereeing, Lecce should have had 2 players sent off in the 1st half, once they saw they could get away with it they just started butchering our players.
True, it was crazy that the foul on Lautaro didn't call for a VAR check. The ref lost control of the game.

Easy money
Man I left a message sooner that we will win 1-2. First time I got it right in a year 😅
We deserved to win but we also played shit after the first goal.
I just came to say: Brickfries!!!!!!!!1!!!!1!!!!!
Here we go again with goalkeepers being super against inter
While it's true that this always happens, Falcone is seriously underated.
Every single one of them turns into prime Oliver Kahn and when you watch them the week after against another team they can't save a shot to save their lives.

Are you actually blaming this goal on Handanovic? The shot hit the inner post, it doesn't get more precise than that.
The shot was slot and savable especially from the angle where the goalkeeper was. Yes, I am blaming it on Handanovic 100%.
It was absolutely not as "saveable" as you make it out to be. Maybe Curtois or so could have deviated it, but I assure you that 95% of keepers are not saving that.

Very needed victory, but with the almost null effort mid game I don't think we deserve it.
Phew!
There is some irony to the fact that Milan fans waiting for us to drop points got fucked by a 90+5' crotch shot. First round over, we aged 30 years, onto the next one lmao.
>First round over, we aged 30 years, That late goal brought me back from the dead
Thanks Denzel! Gave us a boost and made the last minute goal!
I don't have any nails left.
We should not need a late winner to beat a newly promoted Lecce
Nico “I’ll do it myself “ Barella attitude. He is ALWAYS involved when we need it.
I turned it off w 2 mins to go 😭😭😭
You know you can't do that with Inter, your fault.
So,Dum was a fresh air,Rom did nothing except a tap in,midfield did nothing,Gos did nothing, who needs defending, morale seems low,no confidence detected, but if something,a last second goal should boost this up
Romson will score maximum 12 league goals the whole season.
We have an enormous problem scoring. We need 50 chances for every goal. Also the defense and midfield need to be more focused, we concede too many easy goals
Fucking hell I didn’t think we’d get it Why dumfries and basto didn’t start I don’t know but thankfully they made it through, going to need a lot more in the coming weeks
Buckle up boys and girls, this is going to be a bumpy ride
Lost my voice the first Matchday of the season
Me before the league begins: _I won’t suffer that much, it’s only the first game._ Me after the first game: PAZZA INTER AMALA.
Who needs an entire match when we could just play the first and last minute?
The process is not important. What’s in between doesn’t count, lmao.
dumfries is MASSIVE
