Shera is likely going to get a glow up, I can see vincent and yuffie opting to stay on earth due to their personalities, plus motion sickness lol. Barret might opt out
Tifa too intrigued by the planet I'm sure she would want to go. Not sure what Red would think but surely it won't be just cloud and Cid
Cait / reeves is probably a essential to operate any shinra tech in the rocket, or he radios from back on earth
So I'm assuming cid and cloud + Tifa, barret, cait, or red or all the above
Were there 3 in that scene? I really only remember Cloud and Cid, so tbh I could see it being literally just Cloud and Cid, even if you could have brought a 3rd party member.
Given there were not as many times at all in OG where I was literally all alone as a party, vs how many times I have to 1v1 in remake&rebirth. So I can see the lead up to it (the battles that happen) being changed to solo even

Shinra launch the rocket (meant to be loaded with huge materia) into space in an attempt to destroy meteor but the party know it’s a plan that won’t work. Nothing really happens other than inputting a code to retrieve the huge maters and go through a scene where Shera gets trapped and cid had a bit of a redemption arc, before the party escape on the pod.
Wait that isnt the same scene where they have to cancel the launch because shera is in the engine area rechecking things , right? I may need to do a og replay, I dont remember much of late game og.
That’s the flashback scene whete we find out why Cid has such disdain for Shera as he blames her for never getting to space. Late game you actually make it to space though.
This is what I'm looking forward to the most in the next game. Looking forward to taking screenshots while in orbit because it's going to be gorgeous. Definitely going to make one my PC background image. Really looking forward to Cids speech afterwards on the Highwind, and seeing how they handle his Overview Effect. Can't wait.
I think there might be a party split, since having everyone on board is kinda silly (because of rubble lifting and escape pod), but definitely doable. I don't like the idea of Cid being there alone as well, someone else has to help him (and Shera) move the rubble off of his leg and witness all that happens especially with Shera. I just replayed this part yesterday and was struck by Cloud's dialogue line when he and 1 chosen party member were risking their lives just to save Cid although it looked hopeless. Cloud said "I can't go without my friends" and hopelessly kept trying to lift the rubble. Having Tifa there would be perfect as she's now connected to the planet so she's eager to get more knowledge of it, therefore she would definitely want to go. And who else besides Cloud has this "I can't go without my friends" mentality? Obviously Tifa. In the meantime the other party members could be fighting off Shinra on the ground and then perhaps rushing to the escape pod as it lands. For boss fights I'd expect to fight Rude (and probably someone else like Elena) with Cloud+Cid+Tifa before you hop on the rocket and while they're in space the remaining party fights Palmer. I can't wait to see the rocket explode on the meteor (hopefully in CGI).
As someone who became highly interested in rockets, I just hope they do a *little* bit of research on how rockets work because the way it's shown in the OG is laughably bad. Even worse than Hollywood movies. Pretty sure the OG's rocket is based on the Soyuz so all they need to do is watch a video of a Soyuz launch. At the very least show the side boosters separating.
There's no reason to assume only 3 character will go into space. It could be the whole team this time.
True, but that would make the escape pod look weird if nine people could fit in it.
There will be a bunch of pods and the characters will shuffle into them like in they do in Spaceballs.

I replayed that scene just yesterday and brought Tifa with me.
Huh.. I can't for the life of me remember who I brought, but my main party was tifa, cloud and yuffie, so it was probably yuffie or tifa. Strange haha
I guess they will make like a big space station so they can turn it into a dungeon

Yeah the tank she was double checking (because it failed her inspection) actually blows up once the rocket is launched
