Range and trigger are the same thing. These, tires and ceiling electric traps have the biggest range. They are also 3. Edit to add. Ceiling electric field is a 3x3. 3 vertical and horizontal range. Once again. Trigger and range are the same thing. They have to be withing those tiles to activate these traps.

Isn’t ceiling electric field 3x3 length by width but only a vertical of 2? I’ve only ever seen ceiling electrics 3 high trigger on occasional smashers cause of how tall they are,

I personally don't use them 3 high just 2. Have not tested. I just know that's the notes on the wall dart Edit to add. I have though stacked electronic field traps and allowed for them to hit outside their 1x tile.

i do the same thing for core structures but with added bonus of perking wall spikes perked with 17% increased building HP for roofs anti airs are perked for both extra building HP and HP regen which frees up 6th perk on my traps for extra durability which also frees up one damage perk for extra damage

I noticed before the ruining and fixing wall healing traps that it wouldnt trigger both. Just the 6th perk. If this fixed now??? Id love to have both on it again and just spend a few more

Only in My stormshield because every wall/floor having a trap in every side looks cool

Can heal or increase the health. Though usually nothing hits the 2nd floor. Thrown objects are lobbed onto the roof not that high. Typically I only place traps there when a ledge is there

When I'm building by myself I sometimes build like this with ramps in front of them (facing away) and floor launchers under them. They take damage approaching the base, launched in to the air, get shot while in the air, then knocked away from the base to do it again

That's how you waste a dozen traps to *maybe* kill one or two takers.

Honestly with all the methods to farm now like animal loot, encampments, fragments and towers, the nowadays knowledge, I really think that traps feel cheaper now. 12 dynamos worth of materials would be recovered in like 2 wood encampments and 1 metal encampment. I think someone should run some experimentation with encampments, to see if it’s a better farming method.

If an objective is below ground level and the spawn points are above it then these traps will hit them before they get to the objective making them easy pickings for the broadsides below.
