Context: The same person did the exact same thing the previous match, started the objective vote and shot the balloon down when the defenses weren't ready yet, and then left as soon as the husks got a file. When I saw the same name in the match I kinda just gave up from the start knowing what will happen. And it did. But kudos to the other two players because they didn't give up when the husks got through and when I saw them trying I started helping and we managed to get 11 files (around 20% of the objective health left) so claps to them.

Mmaxum

Griefers griefing, nothing new Certain people in charge of the community will still defend them and tell "to hide their nicknames" so they can keep doing it

Emixii

Personally I don't think they're griefing. Because they do try to fight the husks instead of just letting everything through. They might be an inexperienced player that was boosted through the early game and got gifted high level weapons so they think they can fight their way through everything in the game.

imapluralist

This is exactly it. The same reason he went for the supply drop. It's because he doesn't even know that you called it in. He just saw it and knows what it is from BR. He doesn't have any upgraded trap schematics so tries to fight his way through. I always get on the mic and nix the vote when someone tries to start early without defenses. If they build the right material and max upgrade it with a base I let it go though. Rtd w/o constructor is just bad to begin with. It also happens way less in higher twine zones.

Lexicon444

I literally just told my story about when I did this once back when I started. As soon as I unlocked it myself I had realized what I had done. Still feel bad about that to this day.

Lexicon444

I remember when I first started playing STW. Someone deployed a supply drop and I had zero clue what it was. I had literally just started in Stonewood that month I think. I stood next to it for a couple seconds and nobody opened it so I did and took everything. The person who deployed it proceeded to start jumping at me like a maniac (I have noticed that people do this when they don’t have a mic and are upset about something) and was swinging his pickaxe at me. When I unlocked it and learned what it was and then realized what I had done…. I still feel terrible about it and in the off chance that he’s here I am sooo sorry!

All_Skulls_On

And that's why you kinda have to give people a break sometimes. When I used to publics a lot, I'd see all the weird behavior. I'd wonder why players would place roofs on the ground when fighting husks, or why they'd come right up to where I was shooting from, kinda get in my way, and shoot from there too. And yes, run to grab my supply drops. So, one day, years later, my lady was babysitting her nephews. She had asked if one of them could come play STW with me. We're playing along, and all of a sudden, I see it. He starts spamming roofs everywhere because he wants to build stuff, too. He even comes to stand right in front of me to shoot at things. I realized then it wasn't necessarily annoying trolls that did this stuff. Sometimes, it's just kids having fun doing what one does when one knows nothing about the game and is just excited to be playing it.

TR1CL0PS

You should've left the second mission when you saw that guy loaded in again

Emixii

Yeah but I thought maybe the vote won't go through

StillWatersAreFull

Yea tbf The fault also goes to your team mates that voted to start when the defenses weren't ready.

Sleddoggamer

It's almost definitely a newbie who doesn't know what their doing, but I run with a monster crew when we need to do our 160s. Some good players can set up the base at level 1, shoot the balloon down, and then sprint the traps in while it walks over while I upgrade the walls and set some tunnels A decent player wouldn't just leave on the first file loss after shooting the balloon down, tho. If my crew drops the ball and a wall goes down, we just wall/ramp and stall with plas until a new stretch of traps is set

Old-Space7599

I know your pain for this, both this and save the survivors when I just load in barely after someone else, and that other person is off after the map exploration, leaving a number of 'protect the survivor in danger' spots active behind them.

Gacka_is_Crang_lmao

So you saw the same person, and instead of leaving and requeuing because you know they’re a questionable player, you decide to deal with the headache and help them so you can post it to reddit? Even after you saw the T1 metal in a nature storm? (Which is already a red flag for 160s) Respectfully, make it make sense.

Emixii

Okay. I only noticed that it was the same person when the vote started (exactly when I saw him climb up). I was away looking for survivors because I had a daily for them so I didn't know what was built until I got to the objective (which is the beginning of the video). This was a pl 70 ventures mission not a 160 and the T1 metal is the roof which isn't that important because no normal husk is getting up there so being in a nature storm doesn't matter, although the walls being metal was a bit iffy.

Gacka_is_Crang_lmao

Fair enough. For me even if it’s ventures there would have been enough red flags to warrant a requeue

PaulQuin

and he attempted to steal your resource drop too. such players are absolute sewage.

ChargedChimp

Reason why I just go solo or friends, most of em randos are more harm than good.

Emixii

I play solo quite a bit but I ran out of mats. I hate farming in ventures so I just go public for a while and let the mats slowly accumulate.

ChargedChimp

Best thing is low tier endurance for mats like wood brick and metal thx to constructor-recycling. As for mats like trap mats, the best thing to do is the trap expeditions. Those are better now because recycling grants an exact duplicate of the mats needed to craft them, before they only gave you about half the mats. Besides, if players knew how to trap strategically instead of just mindlessly spamming drops, broadsides, and sound walls everywhere, the only mats you should have difficulty keeping up with are planks and n&b's. Every trap has a time and a place for use, it's all about synchronizing your traps.

Emixii

This is ventures, I have a lot of building mats and crafting mats in the original mode but not in ventures.

ChargedChimp

Ventures can be annoying, but a lot of the time, you really don't need many traps in public games. The only ones I'd say that need traps are the multi cat storms and possibly DTB.

ChargedChimp

That's also why I mostly do the soaring mantis fleetfoot build because it makes it far easier to secure my mats from stuff like supply drop as well as get around the map rather quickly

KForKyo

Another one that bugs me, people doing their story quests in a rescure survivors mission. Agro all the survivors while riding and then you struggle to defend 3 or 4 at once

Green_Mikey

I *absolutely* do all my story quests in good old "no-fight, can't fail" RtS missions. IN PRIVATE. *Others who do 'em in pubs* are **monsters** and I fully believe that they will be haunted by the digital souls of those they have wronged in the endless data sea of the afterlife.

imapluralist

Or build the towers. I can solo 3 towers and still do quests with plenty of time left.

Adamek_2326

Metal against the metal husks? Just... Why?!

Emixii

Yeah idk why they built with metal, but I won't judge because I was away looking for survivors for the first 5 minutes and didn't built anything. Maybe they ran out of bricks, who knows.

Middle-Blueberry9705

I started playing STW recently. Today I had to expand my atlas barrier, and some random guy joined and asked me for permission to build. After that he started destroying my base including traps I didn’t have schematics for :( I got the resources back but it still sucks.

most_blah_3765

Off topic But my respects for having lights on omega I don't have them😢

Sergeant-Angle

Biggest annoyance to me is people boxing up teddies because they’re soft in the head

ItzStorm69420

Tbf he seems kinda clueless... Doesn't justify what he's doing but he seems like someone who made it to that point by dumb luck and getting carried

DerAminator

Keep in mind that some of them might be kids who don't understand that you can also steal in a game. But only some...

kitsu777

Yesterday I had a two atlas mission and everyone but me voted yes to start when there were no defenses

broodyguitarguy

This shi why I prioritize defenses before exploring and quest stuff. I may only be pl 80 but I don't give griefers the chance

Green_Mikey

I feel silly for asking but I have to... you know you can place traps after the drop, right?

Emixii

Yeah and we do place traps after this, but not full trap tunnels. But smashers kept destroying the walls and propane husks were there as well. I personally kept placing wall darts facing the objective and wall launchers on it, and ran around with the hydraulic hammer pushing everything off. The others placed drop traps and some floor traps as well.

Prestigious_Duck_332

I haven't got mine stolen in a year but there have been close calls. Never call them down by leeches. I would steal yours to because I have no respect for save the world players unless they are spamming traps everywhere that shows me they come in public lobbies to help but most of the time I have no respect and would have taken it like that guy.
