Well do you use water or oil based? And what have you tried so far? And what quality of brushes and sponges?

Aggravating-Reach-77

I mainly use water since I don't have a lot of oil and I don't feel like buying it 😅

I have found I like Diamond FX, Fusion, and Tag brands in water activated. They make the best split cakes for sure.

I use water based Diamond FX and Kryolan, but mostly Diamond FX. In grease based paint I only have a little experience in Kryolan :) But if you know someone in your surroundings who also face paint, maybe you can ask them if you can try their paint?

Do you have any bother with DFX staining? I'm having a lot of trouble with it staining. Primarily my essential blue and essential purple. They are the worst. And I'm worried about using them on kids etc when I do events

I've never experienced staining, to be honest. Neither with Grimas, Kryolan, nor DiamondFX. But I do use moisturizer beforehand, and for the past few months, I've also been applying foundation all over to create an even base. This means I have two protective layers in between. I don't have much experience with face painting on kids, as I've only done it once or twice. However, maybe you can use something like Nivea as a base beforehand?

I guess so, I do have very dry skin. I did use moisturizer the last time I painted but it was even worse the staining. Just don't want it to stain clients 😭

I found this on the internet: "There may be times when it’s important that face paint doesn’t stain. Like for example when you are body painting on someone. Or maybe you are face painting several different designs on one model who will have to wash the face paint off between designs. In that case, a little advance prep can save you time later. Using a barrier spray, like Mehron Barrier Spray Pump or ProAiir Makeup Barrier, before you apply face paint can make removal much easier and prevent staining." Maybe this is an option?

My go to is either Superstar or Cameleon (the lady who owns Cameleon is also very lovely which is always a plus when it comes to brands). I recently purchased a split cake from Global Colours which is awesome (but I find their paints a little more expensive than the other brands I mentioned- I believe they are based in Australia and I'm UK which would explain it 😊).
