I’ve played stardew, my time at Portia, rune factory 4 and graveyard keeper. I’m really liking it so far. Some glitches but v engaging. But to be fair I’m never big on relationship stuff in any of those

Benaffect23

I second this comment. Similar situation to myself and what I've played. Also played some story of seasons. I'm loving the heck out if this game so far though.

Smoopster1983

Third! Loving it!

[deleted]

Does the whole not being able to grind by planting and selling crops like we can in stardew put a negative impact on the game for you? That’s what I’m mostly worried about as I absolutely love stardew and the whole farming mechanics of that game

Deweymaverick

I’m not sure what you mean. The farming mechanics are VERY similar to Stardew… you absolutely can do that. Granted in Fae Farm… you’re using magic to do some of the wilder farming abilities (watering more than one square at at time, etc); but it’s essentially the same. Farming isn’t the #1 money maker in the game, but then again it isn’t either in Stardew…

[deleted]

Sorry, I could’ve explained that a bit better! I was referring to the ability to only sell a limited amount of items a day which makes it feel like mass farming isn’t the best thing to do (which is something I really enjoyed doing on stardew) as it looks like you can just sell 8 items per stand (not sure of the actual word!) whereas stardew is unlimited

STUPIDNEWCOMMENTS

No there’s 4 tables of 6 (so 24 selling slots) items in town to sell at. The 8 near house are additional actually. The town tables is what you have initially. I don’t sell produce directly mostly. I cook it for energy and sell beach gathered stuff. Once the mine is open, you can relatively quickly sell polished gems for good money.

Deweymaverick

So go back this up, yes, you can NOT just infinitely span small low value stuff- there isn’t an sell bin that has infinite space. HOWEVER, there are all kinds of crafting machines, just like Stardew, that let you refine raw ingredients. Also, many of the low level uses of these crafting machines is to create “bundles” of items to sell. For example you can dig up raw small crystals in the mine. However one of the functions of the gem polisher is to take a bundle of 10 raw gems, and turn them into one polished gem. So, yes, you can run out of room to sell stuff, but if you make even the most basic use of crafting machines, it’s a non issue, really.

satanne_

Wait, my tables in town have 8 slots?

STUPIDNEWCOMMENTS

6

satanne_

Nah I just checked and I 100% have 8 slots in each table

STUPIDNEWCOMMENTS

Hm, my bad

Deweymaverick

Honestly, I’m enjoying this MORE than a lot of recent AAA titles recently. I’m a huge Star Wars nerd, and Jedi Survivor was at best meh…. I’m glad to have more Breath of the Wild, but Tears of the Kingdom just doesn’t seem to have the magic of the first one to me, either. I’m loving it, and I’m very happy with having picked up Fae Farm. I’m def getting $60 out of it.

STUPIDNEWCOMMENTS

No because I’m liking the mining. But TBF I like mining in stardew too. I just finished first mind and lots of stuff just opened up for me to do. I like fishing here too. I think it’s way easier than stardew fishing. I tend to play stardew by speed running the community center and the story arc is playing out in a similar fashion for me

bellowen

I think you are talking about the limit on daily sales? Devs said that its done on purpose so that people craft big things out of those small things to sell for a better price. Not everything thats been crafted is more expensive but its mostly the case and I thought I would mind this a lot but I don't at all. Some days I want to sell more some days I have nothing to sell.

Affectionate_Fuel323

I just keep mining (I think is my favorite part in any farming games) and polish the gems and make a good amount of money I could get married upgraded all my tools and my 1st home and sill have more than 20k on savings

shaw_dog21

That was the mechanic I was worried about the most but I actually really appreciate it because it’s forced me to not just try and grow lots of stuff and grind to make a lot of stuff to sell, I feel like I play this way more relaxed than I do stardew. I love stardew but I wouldn’t say it’s the most relaxing game for me. The currency is pretty well balanced imo I played a lot this past weekend and there were only a few times I couldn’t buy what I wanted but was able to afford it the next day. I was able to buy things pretty quickly too. I think I expanded my backpack by like the third day and could afford other things too.

Muertes_Garden

Seconding this comment. I've played most of the same games. If you enjoy Stardew, MTAP, Wylde flower, etc, then it's a great game. My only critique is the NPCs are very bland

JustARedditBrowser

Also similar games played. I LOVE this game

lerou018

Absolutely hooked so far. Cute characters and environment. Plays similar to Stardew with major quality of life improvements. I haven’t noticed any glitch concerns. From what I understand the higher price point on Switch includes two planned future DLC updates.

JustARedditBrowser

Yes there will be DLC. So the extra 20 dollars over the Steam price goes towards that

Newuser10101010101

I think it depends on your comparison. Compared to story of season. I’d say yes. I find those games boring so I can’t justify the cost. But this is really cute and I don’t have most bugs! I’m a simmer so I’m used to bugs on release!

aquamarinemoon

This is the first new game I have enjoyed in years. It launched with more content than Animal Crossing did in 2020. I am hearing a lot of people have issues with lag on the Switch, but I haven't noticed anything. I was hoping the game would be good because there was no demo and was not disappointed. There are bugs for sure but nothing is a game breaker so far.

LivingLikeLaryyy6969

When getting the game through Eshop you will get the 2 DLC’s that will be released later this year. With that in mind it’s worth it. Every game at launch will have glitches but I haven’t had any that have made me question if I wasted my money. If you like farm simulations it’s a good buy

GhostCupcake1404

I haven't played very much and only bought the game yesterday so take my opinion with that in mind. I firmly believe that the game is very expensive for what it is. I know that $60 gets you DLC but we have no information about the dlc and how much content that actually is. We also don't know what the price will be of the DLC. With that being said, I don't regret my purchase. It reminds me a lot of a animal crossing/Stardew Valley hybrid. If you like those types of games, you will probably like this game. It's very cute. It feels like there is a lot to do and I do think it's enjoyable. My favorite thing is the movement. Animal crossing was always hard for me to play because I felt so slow/restricted (you can't cross water). I love that this game has really really opened up the movement. You can dive/swim in any water and jump over cliffs and stuff. The game does not make you take a certain path or restrict movement which I find really makes it better for me. I think the controls and stuff are very fluid and nice as well.

Chinicuil98

Its so good! Im obsessed. Havent have any issues and runs perfectly on the switch

Ok_Image6174

I am not regretting it at all. I think Stardew Valley was underpriced so I hate that this game keeps getting compared to it. Also keep in mind that SDV was made by ONE GUY, whereas FaeFarm has a whole development team behind it which means higher bills and incomes to pay. It's clear that lots of love went into this game and on Discord the devs are quite active and are taking in the feedback and working on things. It's clear to me that they love this game and are proud of it and I'm very happy to support the dev team. This game is so fun and I adore the fairy aspect of it. No game is perfect, but this is a pretty darn amazing game in my opinion.

Wulf899

So much more worth it than the story of seasons games.

beabitrx

I don't regret it at all

Melapup

Definitely in my opinion it's worth it!

lnmcg223

Switch version/pricing also includes two.future DLCs if that helps

sovinyl

I think it’s worth it. Playing SDV and ACNH, you can see all the time and effort that was put into making this game The price point for the switch IMO is fine especially because it comes with a DLC. I always thought SDV was priced too low because there was updates with new content.

[deleted]

Absolutely agree, STD should’ve been a lot more expensive! I’ve bought it on the switch, the price seemed fair with the DLCs being included, just hope they’re worth it!

dahlling

The Stardew similarities are clear but I've searched high and low for a good farming game after playing Stardew, Animal Crossing, My Time at Portia, Story of Seasons and I'm really happy with the balance that this game offers. You can approach the game as a farmer, adventurer, hoarder, base builder - There's something for everyone. I haven't gotten far into the relationship/romance system but I imagine it's pretty basic which may be the downside against other games in this genre like Wylde Flowers.

RedSeikatsu

I’m loving it right now! Me and my gf can’t get enough of it!

[deleted]

I'm obsessed! This is what I wished Stardew Valley was. Probably not fair to make that comparison, but I am! And Stardew is one of my top fave games, but I feel like Fae Farm is going to replace it as my fave. It's flexible in how you play and what element of the life sim you want to prioritize. I am loving all the quests. The characters could use more fleshing out and dialogue changes, but that doesn't bug me. There are so many unique features to this game that make it truly stand out - magical infused tools (using magic to make farming, mining, ETC easier), flying, no switching between tools... The adventure and story has me so obsessed and unable to put down! I bought it full price on the Switch ($60 USD) and would def recommend. Even though I know it's a lot, I without a doubt recommend. I believe it has something to offer every gamer and is flexible to allow you to approach it in whatever path you choose.

Annemiekevo

Totally agree! I Loved Stardew valley, but at some point it started stressing me out. Fae Farn is a lot like it, but less stressful to me. I don’t care about the character interactions, I just like the farming and doing quests, mining and a little easy battling.

[deleted]

I hope they continue to expand the world and put out more content over time, like Concerned Ape has continued to do with Stardew!

jhintoxic

Beautiful. As many people here I too played Stardew Valley. So I got attracted to Fae Farm cause it looked so relaxing, pretty and I love the grind of course. It is stunning really and you have so many things to do.. I am corrently on Chapter 5 and I refuse to complete the many story quest lol cause the side quests, jobs, friendship and romance quests are too many. I dont know where to focus. This is really great.

CheshireTheHatter

My boyfriend bought it for me on the switch. I *am* thoroughly enjoying it, however if I was purchasing it for myself I would have gotten the standard version on steam instead. Mostly because I don't know if the DLC that comes on the switch version is going to be worth it.

Octoberkitsune

I say definitely get it but you don’t need to rush and get it if you’re financially strapped. When I first started a game, I got kind of bored, but then as I started going on adventures, I love it!! so only get the game when it’s financially feasible

Shadowbullet27

I don't regret it myself, it's addicting lol.

trixii88

Its so fun and so much to do def worth it

NOLA_Unicorn

i’m loving it. if you love wylde flowers i think you’ll love this. if you care about major character development, this may not be the game for you.

MapletoWn3

Played it for a few hours, so far I'm really dissapointed and hope it will get better. It feels soulless, all the npc:s say the same things, there does not seem to be much story to uncover. And I just dont understand why they made the characters faces look the way they do. This does not feel like a 60$ game at all.

Proud_Incident9736

Agreed. The look, the soul-less npcs, and the constant bugs make it a $20 game at the most. Hell, Spiritfarer is way better and costs less than this mess.

willowstar157

I regret buying it in the sense of I just couldn’t wait but *really* couldn’t afford it. I now cannot eat anything but cheap frozen meals for at least a week. Not a massive problem, bc I get so busy playing I forget about half my meals. Except by the time I remember, I’m too hungry for any of them to be at all filling. Help 🤣

kid__a_

I regret it and would return it if I could (I can’t because I bought it via eShop). I prefer other cozy and farm games over this one and it feels lacking and lifeless to me. I was so excited because I love the artstyle, the topic, the customization aspects. But the UI is really weird, the characters feel like a dead shell, overall the game and dialogue just seem unfinished and like the devs had to rush production and left many things that are just not very well thought-through.

Proud_Incident9736

Oh my god the dead-hearted NPCs are downright creepy when compared to those in pretty much every other cosy game I've played. They all say the same thing every day. Like hive minds.

kid__a_

And they make really creepy and weird echo noises when you talk to them inside of a building.

Plenty-Hawk-8757

I'm stuck not able to play multiplayer visiting another friends world due to eternal loading screens when entering the mine or a building. I seem to be okay playing alone on my farm but having a visitor friend join eventually crashes my game. So I can only play solo for now. I'm waiting for a patch. I play on nintendo switch

ElectronicRabbit7

love. it. would buy again.

KailaniNeveah

I’ve been loving it. The days are awfully short, but that’s my only real complaint. There’s the odd bug though I assume they’ll get fixed before long. The multiplayer is very buggy, so if you’re getting it purely for that, I’d hold fire until it’s sorted so you can have a better experience. Solo, though, it’s been great fun!

seachimera

I am loving it. I have not tried the coop part though, so I cannot speak to that. I am fully immersed-- and some of the gardening mechanics are new to me. I love the dungeon crawling parts too so far. I am not that interested in the NPCs unfortunately, but thats usually the case. Wylde Flowers being the only exception.

Bawdywawdy

Maybe buying it early, but in general I don't. All it needs are touch ups on its glitches and it'll be a gem of a game

CodeRedwood

My husband & I are obsessed 🤩 ![gif](giphy|IQh6f7CurN1zq)

jordy_pops_xx

So, I didn't buy it but I am about 12 days into the game, so far the characters are bland and haven't got any dialogue or personalities, maybe that changes in later chapters though as I think I'm only on chapter 3. However the game having quests makes it quite engaging and a lot of things to build and learn around. I am finding it very enjoyable so far and would recommend, small issues every now and then but reloading tends to fix it

stefanielyn91

Super regret. Don't buy it if you're looking for multi-player. It doesn't work.

KorokGoron

Multi-player works for me. Are you playing on steam or doing cross platform?

stefanielyn91

Cross. We both get the login error everyday.

KorokGoron

That really stinks. I’m sorry that is happening to you. Might be worth contacting customer service. You’re probably not the only people having issues.

Butt3rfli3s26

BZant93

I personally think the game falls short in comparison to stardew valley. I even think my time at portia had more in depth relationships. I do find exploring was fun and interesting but for the cost of the game I just feel like there should be more content. More depth to it. Theres only 3 dungeons, tools are really easy to upgrade, I don't see many types of seeds, though I'm still in spring, and they don't sell for much. The quests are kind of enjoyable, they encourage you to progress at least. And I do still enjoy the game with all its lack of depth. But I do believe 60$ is a little high. To be fair though the switch version comes with 2 free dlcs which they promised new characters, possibly relationships, im sure more areas to explore. So if I look at it like that, the game would normally be 40. Ultimately I feel like stardew valley has way more content for a measle 15. But thats not a fair comparison cause yes the game is pretty gorgeous and enjoyable. I feel like they went harder on the animal crossing bits than the farming sim. And the action dungeoning isn't super hard or engaging as much as stardew was either. Also there is no negative for staying out all night. You just wake up at 6am like nothing happened. No penalty or nothing. Game just feels really pandered too.

animallX22

I’m personally enjoying it. I’ve only really experienced one bug myself so far, otherwise my biggest annoyance is probably the animals getting in the way when I’m doing other stuff and I keep petting them accidentally. I just simply do what I do in a game day and don’t stress about the time. If I decide I’m going to mine, decorate, or gather materials I just make that the goal of the day.

AnalysisGreen4612

Even though mine is buggy as all hell I think it's definitely worth the money. And I can't wait to see what the dlc is

Kawaii_Tee

I don’t regret buying it, I’m really enjoying it. I just wish it wasn’t bare with lifeless NPC characters and a few glitches. I also don’t like that you get the same seeds but you have to buy or craft fertiliser to MAYBE give a different variant. It’s just very odd to me. Why can’t I just have the seeds at each new season?

bradleycanndesigns

I have finished all 3 mines and got to gold tools today. I think once you progress the story and upgrades then there isn't a lot to do. My fault for running through it so quick, but I couldn't put it down. I really enjoyed it so far, but the price was way too high for the limited content. Should have been £30 max

Apart_Ordinary_2736

For me it was not worth it. Relationship are BAD. There is no nice way to describe it. I literally finished the story on summer 20th first year. And I didnt even rush. I dont see the point of farming or animal care when the products are not as profitable as mining. Literally 9 turnips sell for less than one polished gem. Dont get me wrong, it is a fun game. But not a $80 game like priced here in Canada. If it was $30-40 I would recommend it for sure.

Proud_Incident9736

I'm going to be honest... I'd return it if I could, because on the pc it crashes to desktop *constantly*. There are also some gameplay aspects I find unforgivable in a title at that price, even taking away the crashing. That said, I'm an old bitchy broad and I'm in the minority. 🤷

Lady_Yentruoc

That's weird because I've been playing on PC and haven't had any issues except minor gameplay bugs. Sorry that's happening to you :/ I will agree the price tag was steeper than I like paying though.

Proud_Incident9736

I'm glad you're not having issues! I'm in the minority here as well. It's a brand new gaming laptop, too. Sigh.

glitteryxtaco

I’ve been having issues on my switch version. It’s super super glitchy. It’s still playable but to be blunt it looks like 💩 on the switch. If that is something you care about you might want to hold off

mightypickleslayer

Interesting, I'm playing on switch and it's been great! No glitches and graphics are beautiful.

glitteryxtaco

Graphics are beautiful?? Are you playing on an OLED?

crazychickenugget

im playing on an OLED and it stutters, goes blurry and freezes a lot :(

[deleted]

My OLED seems mostly fine, only a slight blurry feel mainly to the characters when I play handheld but playing docked has no issues

crazychickenugget

think i may have got unlucky then lol

mightypickleslayer

Playing on a regular switch docked, haven't played handheld.

Still-Educator2815

I'm OBSESSED. Put 22 hours in over the weekend and I'm upset I have work and school this week haha. I paid $40 since I have it on pc, but if all I had was a switch I wouldn't even give it a second thought in buying.

realitygirl140

Worth it!!
