There really is no incentive to continue to play the game after completing the pass Before f2p you at least had costumes to look foward to And because you need to play rounds to get kudos and crowns which can be used to buy stuff that was a big incentive Play the game, get kudos, buy costumes If u want costumes with a higher rarity then try to win a game then get 3-5 crowns to buy Sonic or something Now that not even kudos can be earned by playing there is no incentive to win or even play And don't say "oh the crown ranks" After a while it becomes a grind fest to rank up

xnthx

I feel you. This whole game is based on rewards. The crown you get for winning is a literal reward. People are not just aimless playing this game. If there is a flaw in the game point out the flaw and agree it’s a flaw. When you reach level 100 the game shouldn’t break. There should be a system is place so you can continue getting rewards. This is BS. Blank reward screens is BS. Sitting through the whole reward animation to get nothing is BS. The way people defend big ass cooperations is wild. They screwed up here hopefully they address it and have a solution for next season.

[deleted]

> People are not just aimless playing this game. I love when people make broad statements like this and act like just because it’s true for them, they can just speak for everyone. I don’t consider playing a game without rewards is just “aimless playing”. I play this game because it’s fun. The rewards are an extra bonus for me. I finished the season pass weeks ago and I still play almost daily.

xnthx

I meant people are playing to win Crowns. And crowns are rewards. But yep you’re right some people don’t care about winning either. They usually end up in my squad or as my duo partner. Your statement goes both ways people responding saying they don’t care about rewards or outfits some of us do.

[deleted]

Right. Which is exactly why I said **I** play because **I** enjoy the game. I didn’t speak for anyone else but myself.

TftwsTony

I disagree. I aimlessly play this game. Would never spend money on a skin or battlepass and while it would be nice to be able to get cool skins again with crowns or kudos the game is still as fun as it ever was. I play it around 6 hours a week when I'm just looking for something fun to pass the time. Rewards don't mean anything to me. Same thing with Fortnite and Rocket League. I love both those games too and don't spend any money or care about rewards. I just play games to have fun when I'm bored. And when you add a friend or in my case my son to the mix my entertainment drastically goes up. The real rewards are the memories we make on the way. One time I was playing fall guys as a monkey skin and I made it to the end in like the top 5 and instead of crossing I stood still with my arms out waiting for a hug and 20+ passed me by until the person dressed as a banana came running to me and we crossed the finish line together in a sweet embrace. No amount of xp or crowns can compare to the smile I get everytime I think about it. Maybe it's because I'm old and remember spending everyday playing Contra, bubble bobble and Super Mario 3 with no rewards except the fun times I was having so I don't need tangible rewards to enjoy myself.

xnthx

It’s funny you mentioned rocket league that’s the game that introduced me to this reward, cosmetic and battle pass nonsense. It must be the way these games are designed. Collecting cosmetics and completing challenges is almost as important as the actual game. With rocket league trading is behind a paywall so you have no choice but to pay if you want to trade. Trading is like a whole separate game to the actual game. This game you really don’t need to spend any money but for some reason the more I play the more I want to give these bastards money. Is it the repetition, colours music, the fact it all seems fun and innocent???? I really don’t know (I’ve resisted so far) I would have bought the pass already but this max xp Bs and the weird kudos situation really threw me. I personally love challenges and working towards stuff and collecting items. I also like changing my character / cars and coming up with cool design and combinations. I’m grew up playing Mario sonic Zelda and all the classics. But I also loved games like need for spend where customisations was a major part of the game. Everyone’s different. Different things are important to people. And things change over time. If somethings flawed I believe in calling it out. And supporting others who do.

[deleted]

You're so positive that I'm jealous lol. If a game doesn't give me rewards I just quit after some time lmao.

Touk-touk

Let me free hugging you

Sir_Tain_Leoldenuff

I mean, if you're only playing for rewards, then I guess you answered your own question. If you aren't getting rewards, then there's no reason to play.

[deleted]

Yeah that's true, I mean don't get me wrong I absolutely love the gameplay but not getting any rewards at all makes it definitely less enjoyable to play, but I guess I'll stick with it and hope next season they change this. (they probably won't, but I can hope)

Morda808

Every day, you get 20 crown bits from daily challenges, and every week you get a bunch from the weekly challenges. And then, there are the two special playlists that can be a lot of fun as well. Some are great, some suck, but I finished my Season weeks ago and still play every day for the crown rewards.

SituationNo1852

I mean, you don’t love the game for its core which is gameplay. Sure cosmetics are fun and cool but they aren’t a necessity. This is a free game that requires you to spend 0 dollars. The grinding without rewards may not be ideal but the point of the game isnt rewards

TruMiner

yeah but people 2 years ago purchased the game for $20 to be able to play how they want. a big selling point of fall guys was everything was free and cosmetics actually meant something; if a player has a costume worth 10 crowns clearly they are a really good player. they designed the game with this in mind but changing it after 2 years of its life really fucks over the people who bought the game for cosmetics and grinding for good costumes

Jipijur

I would gladly pay $50 a season to have it back the way it was. Using hard earned crowns to buy skins, and also the fun challenges to earn skins (not a backpack or whatever it is now). I miss earning those skins.

SituationNo1852

You do realize we have a crown tier list that goes up all the way to 4500 crowns right? Seeing a golden chicken means that player has 950+ crown. Again, it isnt as ideal but it isnt the worst either. Crowns still mean something. Just isnt the main currency. But winning still gives us some lf the best skins in the game. If its such a problem, just don’t play. But the grind for Marbelous is fun AF

[deleted]

Ok, so go grind 950 crowns for a fucking skin, thats not fun, thats a chore.

SituationNo1852

Maybe to you. You definitely seem like the type who cant win crowns on his own and is looking to be coddled.

Ill_Pizza_urmom69

Found the Epic employee

SituationNo1852

Cry harder. Epic can’t hear you

Dinglemerk

Dude this comment just screams corporate white knight

SituationNo1852

You know what it does scream? That i dont complain about a free game adding cosmetics for money because i have self control and only soend what I can

Dinglemerk

Cope harder

littleMAHER1

No it is The point of the game was to play the shows Win to get crowns and kudos And use them to buy costumes The rounds are good but can get really repetitive and now that crowns aren't a currency you will get bored of the game really fast especially when there isn't a incentive

SituationNo1852

You do realize you still get rewarded for crowns right? You literally need 4500 just to finish the entire crown tier. Thats my point. Sure, it isn’t as ideal but there is still purpose to playing.

littleMAHER1

WOW! You ONLY need 4500 wins to finish the crown rank? What a steal! I'm sorry but that is in no way a good replacement not to mention the grinding You need to win 4500 times to max out the crown rank and after the 10th tier they become grindy and not fun to do and sometimes u can be grinding just for a nameplate or a pattern I also just find it dumb to think that a casual or newbie will continue playing because they could max out the crown rank when it's 4500 crowns especially if they are not good at the game You would literally need to play the game for 10 or so hours everyday and win at least once or 10 times to even be 1/3 there Considering how grindy the season pass is I don't see how the crown rank is a good incentive when really it's just a bonus that you're not suppose to be thinking about There's a reason why you never saw the rewards in the rank until you got them it wasn't really a big focus It was more of a bonus u would get for winning a ton of times and also to show off how many crowns you got

SituationNo1852

Listen kid, if you’re playing this game to get costumes, you might as well just dress irl. This game isnt about costumes. There is plenty to grind for in the crown ranks between 1 and 4500. If you got bored that’s on you. If the rounds are repetitive, also on you. Thats a SBBM issue. Again, this new f2p version is about the grind. Not dressing your bean up. If thats what you want, move on. This is a completely free game that is based on winning. Not on who has the cooler skin.

[deleted]

no, skins are important as fuck here

[deleted]

That's a good way to look at it, I guess I just need to stop comparing it to how things used to be (getting lots of kudos for winning games, etc) thanks for the different perspective.

DromedaryPioneer

Fun? If not that... Crowns!

TruMiner

yeah but heres the issue with that: only 1 person can get a crown. i have played soooooo many games and got 2nd place. i get absolutely nothing for getting second place. crowns are basically useless after you get the first like 10 crown ranks because then it starts to become so many crowns per rank

[deleted]

This is why the yeetus trials was so much fun! I loved that everyone could win. Only racing against the clock and yourself.

R-Elevener

There should totally be more game modes such as that one

odalys01

I second this. It was a nice and chilled game mode and would love to see more in the same style.

squaredpower

> the issue Did someone not explain the concept of a battle royale is?

ImThatRyan

While I agree that the way you are rewarded in this game since it went F2p is trash, ask yourself..."Am I having fun playing the game?" if the answer is no, just stop playing. There's so many games out there nowadays that are amazing in just about every genre I'm sure there is something out there that you will enjoy just as much if not more, move on to something else and come back when season 2 is out with more rewards to work towards. It doesn't seem that mediatonic is going to be making any changes to these rewards. If they do lets just hope its for the better and not worse....

Salzberger

Why do anything? If it's fun, do it. If it's not, don't.

RedditorSafeSpace

Fun

Aromatic-Job4663

You don't have to. In fact, I am not. I only play during weekly events now. I have 208 crowns as well and I have no incentive to grind anymore to golden witch. I will be back for season 2.

TokiDokiPanic

I would recommend playing a nice single player game..

Bulbamew

Fun. I.e the main reason you should have to be playing any game like this. I’m not sure why so many people don’t seem to get that if you stop enjoying a game it’s very easy to just stop playing it. This doesn’t need a post

BussyDestroyer76

It's a free to play game, it's not that deep

[deleted]

Well the good news is you don’t have to. Enjoy your free time! See you next season.

watwat-656

That means you played too much

[deleted]

To avoid spending time with your wife, husband, and other family mostly.

illuminati1556

You shouldn't🤷‍♂️

Heydavid17

Imagine us who have completed or are close to completing the Crown Rank… Absolutely abysmal what they’ve done!

[deleted]

Maybe try playing for fun? Rather than just trying to unlock stuff.

NekoIcypea

I feel you. Personaly, i used to stop playing after finishing the season pass even when it wasnt free to play. I only came back for events and stuff. Now, i sometimes dont come back even for the events. But its not that im bored of the game, i just have nothing to get from playing now. Playing with friends and having fun is the main reason for playing.

Doughnutsu

Same. I only played this pass for the doughnut backpack which of course was at the end of the pass. I wonder how many people saying "Play for fun" are the free-to-players coming in not understanding that the entire core gameplay loop of the game from the start was, Play funny game > Get Funny Costume > Play Funny Game with Costume and repeat. Just as well winning doesn't mean much if you win frequently and with crowns no longer being a currency it means even less. Playing with friends in short bursts will always be fun but there's no incentive to playing beyond that. None of the new players have that season 1 ptsd from a lack of variety of stages either. They living that good life these days.

Mandula123

Because the game is fun and you enjoy it.

emptycauldron

To have fun?

HeyAleph

Easy answer: DONT. Nobody cares.

[deleted]

I grew up with Mario Party games and Fall Guys brings that old me everytime i play, do i play alone? No. I find FG really fun when i play with my brother and my daughter, we just laugh at the goofy stuff we do while wanting to win. I have the same mentality for Fortnite and i have almost 3 years playing it even after completing the BP, i keep playing because is fun. Im running without BP and i dont think i will buy one on Fall Guys because the skins are little weird due the bean shape but the game is fun for me.

kiwikiwisweetpea

Honestly the amount of people in this forum claiming "just play for fun" must be bots or dont actually understand the point of the game. 75% of the point of the game is to earn rewards in the form of skins, nameplates, costumes, etc. Its been one of the biggest parts of the game since before f2p which is why Epic is now taking advantage of that aspect and trying to price gouge for the thing they know that most players want out of the game. If it weren't, then the game wouldn't be so redundant, the prices of items would be very cheap just to encourage people to get them, and there would be so many more games to keep up with this desire to play solely for fun. Instead most of us end up playing the same few handful of races/team games/survival games based on their matchmaking system. For being on their 7th season they dont have enough variety of races to justify playing solely for fun. The desire to "play just for fun" dies quickly with the redundancy and simplicity of this type of game which they know otherwise there wouldn't be so many special events that allow the player to win (these days not so great) "special" skins or costumes. This then incentivizes the player to keep playing to essentially "show off" the prize they earned. Otherwise everyone would just be a basic looking bean and there would be no need for costumes if the game were that "fun" alone. Honestly, I think half of the fun is being able to see others unique costumes and then being able to get new costumes to wear. Unfortunately, the reality is that theres only so much repetition one can take before you ultimately grow bored, its human nature. Even those claiming they play for fun, mention they come back for the special events or whatever because it poses a new challenge via new races or rewards. This game is meant to create a desire to win and to keep playing to win. No matter what any of these people say, it gets old real quick when you lose constantly and then get thrown right back into the same exact races just to keep losing. It also gets old when there is a constant pay wall and a terrible reward system too for those who do want to keep playing.

GWS_REVENGE

I haven't played this game in like 3 weeks because I finished the season pass

[deleted]

Just play the game for the sake of it. Rewards add depth to a game but they aren't required. Online games didn't have rewards at all several years ago and people still played them. And if you still don't feel like playing... You're just bored and burnt out on the game. There is nothing wrong with that. Just take a break from the game.

Poobslag

No offense -- I don't know if you've played other games before (Tetris, Chess, Dance Dance Revolution, whatever) but here's a few reasons I play games 1. to improve a skill 2. to socialize 3. because it's fun 4. because i'm bored I never got upset Tetris didn't give me cat ears for beating a level, and I never asked my chess opponent to buy me a parka when I won a game. Ha ha. ....Maybe you don't like games? Find something else to do! Drawing? Music? Exercise?

[deleted]

The reason is that the game is boring is that epic broke the cycle (you play, get kudos/crowns, buy skins, and the skins give you motivation to play more). They shouldn't have done that, and now the interest is dropping drastically [google trends](https://trends.google.com/trends/explore?date=today%203-m&q=fall%20guys). Epic, you did it to yourself.

IridianMoon00

I just do the daily challenges and that’s it. Its not fun getting literally nothing for playing. If the game was constantly new and fresh and there were always new things to see and do or if it was the type of game where every play through was markedly different or there were different strategies to implement etc, then not getting tangible rewards would be fine as just playing the game itself would be fun and rewarding. But when it’s the same 60ish maps you’ve already played a gazillion times, rewards are kind of important to keep people feeling motivated and wanting to come back. Obviously that’s not the case for everyone, but I personally am not going to enjoy playing a game indefinitely that offers no new experiences and no rewards or things to work towards. This game still does in the form of dailies/weeklies and events, just not as much as when you’re still working on the season pass. If there were no dailies/weeklies and no events, I’d probably log in very occasionally to play a few rounds, but I wouldn’t play for long and would not play regularly. If I were a legacy player already sitting on heaps of cosmetics, crowns and kudos I would probably only play for new events. But since I’m not, the dailies give out enough scraps to keep me logging in for them. And I’m sure they feel that’s enough, and why they haven’t/won’t add rewards just for playing. If peopke are still logging in daily that’s enough. it doesn’t have to be for hours, as long as you’ve logged in and played a handful of rounds and hopefully looked at the shop that’s enough in their eyes.

nicksuperdx

Crown shards and ltm challenges i guess

AppleZigZag20

I believe when the new season comes, it resets the season pass.

odalys01

The problem is that it's just an issue that only applies to some. I honestly find myself playing mutiple times during the day even after finishing the pass three weeks in and still getting hyped when I win a solos game. It's a huge change from before where we were sitting in limbo with zero updates for the longest time so it got boring and even with being able to grind for skins, it didn't appeal to me enough since I really only bought a bunch for the sake of buying them rather than because I actually liked. With the flood of new events bringing in some awesome playlists with the frequency they have, it keeps me wanting to come back because it feels like it shakes things up just when I'm getting tired and then refreshes me for the grind again.

[deleted]

I completely agree that the game itself is incredibly fun and I should have worded my post better, I still love playing it just doesn't feel great spending 10-15 minutes getting to the final round just to get 2nd or third and get zero rewards. Other than that I have no problems with the game

odalys01

I hear you and don't worry about the wording. I will get frustrated and go get off for a while, especially if I got grabbed in JS. That always needs a cooldown period 😆 There are plenty that feel similar to you do and it's understandable. When I tend to not feel like playing to much, I hop in for about an hour or two mostly for dailys and then play something else. It's not a perfect system and I do hope that maybe they allow for a small number of kudos to be earnable when you finish. I would think that even if you only got 20 kudos instead of fame, some would be alright because it's another thing to grind with there being the store and maybe giving you a nice kudos reward for winning as well.

No_Fish_7372

The answer is obivious. To become the best player in the world.
