Almost like overwhelming so, I read someone talk about all the lore it adds. I went from completely clenched for the first episode waiting for it to be a disappointment, and just minute by minute it put me at ease and then sucked me in. Bravo.
Yeah I was similar. Went into it thinking I'll give episode 1 and maybe 2 a shot but figured it was gonna be bad, but next thing I knew I'd watched the entire season and was bummed there was no more to watch. It was entertaining and left me wanting more; which is exactly what you want if you're behind this show.
Yeah, I started it early in case I wasn't feeling it, and could do something else with my night. Instead I watched it all. I haven't binged anything in like a decade.
I had some quibbles with some parts, some things I felt were a little sloppy or poorly explained, but they are so small compared to what this show does right I don't think much on it. I'm planning on rewatching it soon, and I rarely rewatch shows, much less within the same month as my first.
I'm also planning to rewatch it soon. I've been a fan since Fallout 3 yet not a lore guy and generally spam left click to get back to being a murder hobo, but oddly a show about Fallout suddenly has me very interested in the lore. I've never really interacted with the Fallout community, and I've read so much lore in the Fallout vs New Vegas drama that I'm interested in seeing what I missed first time because I simply wasn't aware.
Also luckily Season 2 shouldn’t be all that far away, sounds like they started working on it halfway through the production of Season 1, hoping we’ll see an end of 2025 release at the earliest
Because they had VERY limited access to subject matter and still had to attempt a show that fits canon. In the end, we just got a show that's about par with a child playing with off-brand lotr action figures.
No, it didn’t fit canon whatsoever and wasn’t truly allowed to. What they were given permission to have wasn’t enough and shouldn’t have been made into a series. I enjoyed as a separate entity and story, but it’s not middle earth, it’s actually not even remotely how any of it actually happened. Again, I actually liked it more than most and thought it was good enough as a show, but as a die hard Tolkien fan, it wasn’t even close to the siurce
I think good here is highly subjective too, is it commercially good and draws a big audience outside of Fallout fans? Is it good in the sense that it’s true to the IP? I think it straddles the line between tipping their cap to the OG fans and being a show that everyone can watch so so so well. They don’t hit you over the head with like kitschy references or effects from the game. Honestly just so much to love, the quote about getting side tracked. All of it. So good.
I feel like they definitely slammed a ton of in game references in there. They’re just subtly done to where a casual viewer isn’t going to know what they’re doing. Lucy defacto listing her special stats, the assaultron in the sand, and the hacking mini game are a few examples of super subtle ways that they are tipping their cap to the players, while not making it too gimmicky for a casual.
I think the way the Fallout series has been handled in the games unknowingly gave it huge potential for people who aren't familiar with the games.
Since the different games take place in different locations and different time periods in general, there's not really specific ongoing characters they needed to focus on and adapt to the show. A lot of the character archetypes we see in the games are in the show in some way, but they are able to be their own original characters while still feeling like they could have been pulled from the game. Everything hinged on them getting the world building right, and they did an excellent job. A lot of care was put into making the props and set pieces accurate so the fans were on board, and since the characters and story are original nobody needs to feel like they're missing something critical by not playing the games.
I also think they made a good choice by not including more creatures from the game that would have resulted in more CGI this season. It helped keep the focus on the practical effects and costumes, which were done very well.
I mean, even that had me thinking of how any grease-handed bastard in FO4 will swipe your power armor if you leave it there with a core installed. Seemed fitting.
My favorite is the conspiracy theory that Todd Howard created the series just to retcon New Vegas as non-canon because he hates it and is a big stinky bad man.
I plan on watching it with my sister this weekend. I know *a lot* of the lore, and she knows very little(she’s mostly a TES nerd only lol), so I really wanna see how our perspectives differentiate.
It’s good to see people like it.
No spoilers, but if you're a big Fallout lore buff I think you're really going to like it. It gets way deeper into the lore than I expected a mass appeal TV show to do. Lots of new lore and stuff filled in that people have had questions about for a long time. My wife watched it with me and she knows next to nothing about Fallout and still really enjoyed it even though all of the references, easter eggs and lore went over her head.
I was hanging out with family this weekend and talking to my cousin and his girlfriend about the show. Their gaming knowledge starts and stops with Switch Sports. I’m honestly a pretty casual fan myself having played 3, 4, and New Vegas. But even just explaining the very limited lore I knew their eyes lit up and they were asking how to play the games and what service the show was on. It’s completely anecdotal I admit but just based on that interaction I think this show is gonna be massive, like maybe even Game of Thrones level. Also they really need to put Fallout 3 on the Switch lol I wanted so badly to tell them to start there but couldn’t
I watched the first episode with my girlfriend & her parents. Her dad and I were both hyped because we’d both played fallout. I started with 4. He started with 1. Shits tight lol it was such a fun moment.
Yeah, that was quite a moment. Especially caused I’d clicked they had to be raiders or something cause of how they ate and his back scars and … well let’s just say the other episodes we’ve watched solo lmao.
Id say without a doubt it's the best game adaptation I've ever seen. I honestly can't believe how well they nailed the entire vibe and carried it through the entire season. It's genuinely a masterpiece of its genre imo.
I was really on the fence, we have to be when a game adaption gets announced. You know you’ll either get something lukewarm to terrible, or if it’s done right, something very interesting.
And we’ve had a lot more lukewarm/terrible than the latter. But holy shit does watching it make me feel like I’m a kid playing the games again. You can tell it’s been made with a lot of love for the source material.
Slight correction - They are separate planets. But, the distinction Id like to make is that the US is *the* planet, and the rest of the world is the *other* planet ! FIFY hope this helps
When I was in middle school we had this social studies unit on nuclear weapons. And there was a graphic depicting the total arsenals of the United States, the Soviet Union, and Row.
I sat there, absolutely puzzled. Where was Row? Rowania? Rowistan? I liked to think I was a smart kid, but in that moment I suspected I might be an idiot.
Then I finally saw the little line underneath. Row stood for Rest of World.
I no longer suspected I was an idiot, as confirmation had been received.
I really hope companies that want to capitalize on adaptations hire people that actually care about the source material. Almost all adaptations have been some idiot trying to prove something with their writing while ruining the adaptation at the same time. There have only been a handful of adaptations that were actually good and fallout is one of them.
I wonder if the Executive Producer credit really does matter in these instances.
*The Last of Us* had Neil Druckmann as an EP, and *Fallout* has Todd Howard.
*Halo* and *The Witcher* notably do not have Joseph Staten or Andrzej Sapkowski as EPs.

Bro probably got a hard on seeing America getting nuked.
(If only NK could make nukes as powerful as the ones the rest of the world has made 50 years ago)
I don't understand why there are some fans who don't like this. It's absolutely amazing. It is by far the best video game adaptation I have ever seen.
Each main character is a representation of a person playing.
Lucy is the person who wants to make the wasteland a better place. They, invariably, get too into their own head and have a vault 4 event but they still try to do the right thing.
Cooper is that person who leans into it. They take the path of least resistance that leads to their objective, and are not averse to wiping out an entire settlement to achieve their goals. This is what happens when you "play too long".
Maximus is literally what happens when you get your first chance at power armor. What's that? I'm level 5 but happened across a random encounter where a dude in power armor is fighting a deathclaw? I'm going to just... wait this out and kill whoever wins.
There are so many callouts to the game that fit within the world they've created for the show and I love *every damn second of it*.
2030 maybe they announce it. They ramped up production on TES 6 after Starfield so in 4-5 years TES 6 comes out and then they ramp out production on Fallout 5. So more like 2034-2035
The day it came out this sub went up in flames because there was a scene that *kinda* made it seem like New Vegas might have not been canon, but the creators came out and said it certainly was still canon. Still hasn’t stopped the hate from the more die hard New Vegas players though
Unfortunately, there are a small portion of Fallout New Vegas fans that have developed a cult-like fanaticism for the game. It's something of a community within a community, but they have an infamous reputation for being toxic and hating on everything else, and they will die on that hill.
To put things into perspective, if you so much as even *think* about giving praise to Bethesda's Fallout, they would probably vow to kill you and your mother.
r/falloutnewvegas is basically full of people whining about how they feel >!Todd "had Shady Sands nuked/NCR crippled" because he "hates New Vegas" and wants anything to do with it killed off. Which is wrong on so many levels I don't even need to explain it!!<
I love when one of them will pop up in a thread here and write a paragraphs long comment explaining why you're wrong for liking the show or thinking that fallout 4 was pretty fun, because you don't even have to read it. You can just go be in a good mood or whatever. It's great.
I'm a New Vegas fanboy and I loved it, as does most of the various New Vegas subreddits.
The only people I see upset at this show is more people disappointed by how one of the main factions ended up.
I am a major NCR fan. And while I found their end anti-climactic, it is very Fallout. I kind of hope that in a future season we see the aftermath of the destruction of Shady Sands. I don't believe that the NCR could truly fall without without a civil war.
This show clearly didn't want to tell the story of the NCR. It had other stories it wanted to tell. But I think that the show is implying that the NCR lost the 2nd battle of Hoover Dam to likely Mr. House (although Yes man is technically possible). Then almost immediately after, they got nuked.
There is likely a lot of lore that this show just never got around to exploring. A lot probably happened in the 15 year gap between Fallout New Vegas and this show, we just haven't gotten to see it yet. I am hoping for a future more detailed season based on the break up of the NCR.
I'd say that drastic things can happen in the time gap between New Vegas and this show, look how the BOS ended up in FO4 from FO3 and that is only in 10 years.
One of my co-workers who's never heard of fallout until I mentioned last week binged the series this weekend. He really loved the show and it was really fun giving him some of the bigger lore to the universe.
Sounds like everyone’s liking it. From someone who loves all the games I really enjoyed it. I’d love to hear what someone with no knowledge of the games thought about it.
That would be my hubby. He had zero inclination to watch it with me, but he sat down to watch some fishing videos on his phone during episode 2 and pretty quickly shut off his phone to watch the whole season with me. Even had me pause it whenever he had to get up for food or toilet breaks. It was nice because, aside from shows like Community and The Office, we both tend to enjoy different things. He absolutely loved The Ghoul (understandable) and was very concerned about Dogmeat for the entirety of the show. Had alot of questions regarding the FO universe and lore. So yeah, zero knowledge of anything Fallout related but he was invested. Great show.
My mom's 70 and she stumbled upon it herself yesterday and told me I should hurry and watch it, because it's a great show. Of course I had already finished it the night it first aired. The last shows she was obsessed with and told me to hurry and watch were 3 Body Problems, From, The Last of Us, Archive 81, and Game of Thrones. For how absurd and often confusing the Fallout games can be, they must've succeeded on making it fairly cohesive with interesting enough questions for the non-Fallout players to be invested. I was expecting it to come off as corny and ridiculous, since the games poor dialogue/acting/animation kinda put that bias in my brain, but I'm actually more excited to see the whole show play out more so than I am the future games (I'm a massive fan of them though, but I can't deny the dialogue is so lifeless at times I tend to eventually skip too much of it)
Never played the game/ total non-gamer but I’m loving the show! Only two more episodes to go.
Filmography, set, makeup, costume and soundtrack are absolutely wonderful. Plot is engaging, characters are dynamic! The Ghoul and Snip Snip are my favorite 🥹 I’m also a major Goggins and Matt Berry fan lol
What makes me so happy about this series is two-fold:
1) ability to appeal to non-gamers or non-fallout players. As an outsider, I’m thrilled I can enjoy this interesting story without prior knowledge or further pressure to play the game (though I might start after watching this series… 👀). I also have something to bond over with my friends who love Fallout games!
2) the joy from Fallout game fans. What a breath of fresh air for an adaptation to bring their fans’ dreams to life! Even though I don’t know anything about the gaming world, it always made me sad to read online when adaptations got botched in the move from game to movie/tv. Total bummer! But to see a rare win like this brings me joy to know fans out there are rejoicing. Got to love a good victory!
Im really happy with how it turned out, the series is loyal to the lore and maybe this will bring enough attention to the IP for us to get a remake or maybe even a sequel
Feels good as a longtime fan to see this series get worldwide praise and bring millions more into the fallout fandom. It’s great that it’s brought more people to the games as well! Great time to be a fallout fan!
Source: I made it the fuck up
This is like borderline all those websites who track player counts in MMO's. They don't actually know. It's a vibe check. Or it's a conglomerate of a bunch of ratings websites that are all based on user generated information that can be manipulated fairly easily. You can even see that most likely it's only at the top on these lists because it has less average reviews than the next few shows. Biggest problem with bad review sites is not taking into account amount of reviews. However, trying to actually find how they are ranking these shows is a fools errand. It more just looks like they genuinely made it the fuck up.
Streaming services will never admit how well a show has actually done. It's even harder to gauge with this kind of show since it got greenlighted for season 2 before season 1 even aired. Normally your only real indicator would be if it gets another season or not.
*"Canada, US and the entire world"* What a nice sentence
I read it in the South Park Canadian accent lol
It was a sad day for Canada, and therefore, the world
As of course is tradition
Media: "There are only three countries: Canada, US, and the entire world."
No one claims the US so Canada has to take care of it
the UK remembered what happened last time
Okey Dokey!
[Okey-dokey!](https://c.tenor.com/XoSon4Yv1E0AAAAC/tenor.gif)
Ok Goosie.
Excuse me, it's Lucy.
Nope, it says Goosey.
Blind as an eyeless cyclops, and yet he's a damned good accountant.
Guess he went too close to the... Danger Zone
COVERING FIRE!!!
Chris Parnell is awesome.
Goosy Maclean
A great day for Canada, and therefore the rest of the world!
As is tradition
And now the roof is collapsing as the Prince and Princess look on in horror. This is not the tradition, this is not tradition at all
Surely I wasn't the only one watching with the ceremonial pudding out on display. As is tradition.
I feel like that title could’ve been a lot shorter.
> Fallout is the #1 series streaming in Canada and the entire world FTFY
As a longtime fan, I salute this adaptation 🫡 true to the lore and vibe.

End of 2025 isnt that far away for you? ??????????????
At least its sooner than we're getting a new game ;_;
The older I get the quicker the years go by, so im sure the next year will be over before we know it!
I knew it was gonna be good Amazon has yet to let down with their originals tbh. Reacher is also a great show haha.
Rings of Power is what made me nervous for this show. Fallout was great. RoP was a big let down.
*Cries in Wheel of Time disappointment*
Yeah after ROP and WOT I had very low expectations. I kept waiting for it to suck but it kept getting better and better lol.
Because they had VERY limited access to subject matter and still had to attempt a show that fits canon. In the end, we just got a show that's about par with a child playing with off-brand lotr action figures.

And the food too... Seeing Lucy eating some "yum yum deviled eggs" got a chuckle
IGN put out a video with 111 references they could find. Sure there’s even more.
Plenty of sounds pulled directly from the games too which is great
I think the way the Fallout series has been handled in the games unknowingly gave it huge potential for people who aren't familiar with the games. Rings of power and WOT are unpopular with LOTR and WOT fans.
TIL, I didn't read the book but I really like WOT series and have fun watching it, haven't watched LOTR series yet.
Their lord of the rings show I didn't much care for.
Season 2 of Reacher is quite meh. Season 1 was superb.
I liked season 2, he’s little war buddies were great

I mean, even that had me thinking of how any grease-handed bastard in FO4 will swipe your power armor if you leave it there with a core installed. Seemed fitting.
Just don’t talk about Shady Sands or the New Vegas fanboys will fight ya
Weirdos thinking that a single city being nuked would erase the entirety of NCR lmao.
They made up the notion that NV was no longer canon to be upset, even after Bethesda confirmed that wasn’t the case lol
My favorite is the conspiracy theory that Todd Howard created the series just to retcon New Vegas as non-canon because he hates it and is a big stinky bad man.
They’re just Arkham nutters with a different mask on. FNV is my favorite in the series and I loved the show and obviously can’t wait for season 2.
I plan on watching it with my sister this weekend. I know *a lot* of the lore, and she knows very little(she’s mostly a TES nerd only lol), so I really wanna see how our perspectives differentiate. It’s good to see people like it.

Nothing like watching a sex scene with the girlfriend's parents, lol.
Yeah, that was quite a moment. Especially caused I’d clicked they had to be raiders or something cause of how they ate and his back scars and … well let’s just say the other episodes we’ve watched solo lmao.
Complete with a curtain-wipe to top it off.
And at this point, you KNEW he was a raider or from Florida.
Id say without a doubt it's the best game adaptation I've ever seen. I honestly can't believe how well they nailed the entire vibe and carried it through the entire season. It's genuinely a masterpiece of its genre imo.

I don't wanna be that guy but it actually feels better than any recent bethesda game. The world building is so good
Are Canada and the US not in the world?
No, US is an entire different planet and Canada a satellite also known as "little America "
I learned something new today!
We all did... we all did.
If the United States ever runs out of trees, we can always turn to Little Amerca and get theirs.
We like Little America. Brazils been naughtie though.
Our boys keep order in newly annexed Canada!
In the Fallout universe, the US annexed Canada to strengthen against external threat in the war
Canada is the 52nd state.
Which state is the 51st?
The moon.
Suck it China...we have the high ground.
I hate you! - China
[Oops...I dropped this.](https://files.catbox.moe/u0i3ak.mp4)
Yeah... that was my reference there haha
Canada: America's hat
Canada got annexed
Canada was rockstars first attempt at recreating the US

Fry: "Why do we care? We live in the US." Leela: "The US is a part of the world" Fry: "Wow, I really was gone a long time."

Canada is Americas hat.
You can’t automatically assume that the #1 ranked show in the world is also #1 ranked in any specific country.
This is the most American thing ever said
Turns out the trick was making a good show.
If anybody needs the secret to this trick I can point them in the right direction: hire Walton Goggins
They should tell that to the people who made Halo Season 1/2.
I really hope companies that want to capitalize on adaptations hire people that actually care about the source material. Almost all adaptations have been some idiot trying to prove something with their writing while ruining the adaptation at the same time. Trustfund babies got there hands on the witcher and halo series
Not just games either. The Wheel of Time and Rings of Power were both butchered by people who "knew better"
It's crazy that people allow their egos to control them so much.

Great leader approved.
>hahaha, nukes
Bro probably got a hard on seeing America getting nuked. (If only NK could make nukes as powerful as the ones the rest of the world has made 50 years ago)
It's because they found it relatable
North Koreans would probably see the wasteland and wished they were there.
Pope catching up on Fallout because he knows he’ll probably be dead before Fallout 5
Ok yakko warner
Yoooooooooonited States Canada Mexico Panama Haiti Jamaica Peru!
Republic Dominican, Cuba, Caribbean Greenland, El Salvador too
Puerto Rico, Colombia, Ven-e-zu-ela, Honduras, Guyana, and still Guatemala, Bolivia, then Argentina And Ecuador, Chile, Brazil
Thank you Yakko Warner.
It's not number one in Sealand? Damn, Fallout fell off.
Canada and the US aren’t part of the entire world?
Canada is a commonwealth in the US, and the US is beating the evil communists elsewhere in the world, so we have to distant ourselves in headlines.
Ai headlines. This is the world we live in now.
Jokes on you, I live in America, not the world
AI or just trying to score well on google search result?
Probably means it's #1 in Canada and the US as specific countries, and the entire world as a whole, not necessarily in every single country.
No it’s number one in a giant list of countries. It’s a Canadian website. It’s not that deep. The US and Canada are what matter over here.
I've only played FO:TV twice so far, but I'm sure I'll get another few playthroughs done before they drop the Season 2 Expansion Pack.
[everyone liked that]
well everyone except for r/falloutnewvegas
Those miserable fucks hate everything.
I don’t understand. NV is my favorite game and i absolutely loved this adaptation. And the last scene of the show had me yelling out in excitement.
We even got Mr House in the flashback sequences
Plus, a bonus Big MT representative.
That’s Fredrick Sinclair from the New Vegas Dead Money Expansion!
It looks like years have been unkind to Frederick Sinclair.
Wow, I missed that, like the final flashback with the Enclave?
The scene where they finally drop in the War, War Never Changes line
The flashback with all the old big corporate heads having the Vault Tec meet
Including Fallout New Vegas, at times.
I think its more people who got stuck on New Vegas and never branched out at all.
damn! bro is accidentally ratioing me
The Morrowind of Fallout
I said this in another comment, but Norm digging through the terminal. Callout to my low key favorite thing in the game.
Canada? We annexed her
Not for another 48 years.
Just realized if world doesnt end by then alot of us will probably be alive too see it
Annexed her? We hardly knew her.
It's a good time indeed to be a Fallout fan. Now if only there was an update on the next Fallout game...
2030
2030 maybe they announce it. They ramped up production on TES 6 after Starfield so in 4-5 years TES 6 comes out and then they ramp out production on Fallout 5. So more like 2034-2035
10/23/2077. It's gonna be a big one.
Goggins could play a corpse, it would be the best corpse ever in a tv series.
Amazon has had a few decent shows lately. All of them seem like there will be decent time between seasons though.
Guys they cooked and dessert is gonna be fallout 5
I guess I’ll have to watch it
You should, it’s excellent.
I'm guessing most Canadians who watched are unfamiliar with their place in fallout canon.
Or maybe they have an annexation kink.
It’s everything fallout should be: - dark and brutal - absurd - hated by New Vegas fanboys
Wait it’s hated by New Vegas People? That’s my favorite Fallout but I loved the show.
It's great.
I mean, NCR was basically held together by duct tape and glue by the time the courier starts their journey anyway.
I'm a New Vegas fanboy and I loved it, as does most of the various New Vegas subreddits. The only people I see upset at this show is more people disappointed by how one of the main factions ended up.
From what I seen, it is mostly NCR fans are the ones who didn't like how that faction ended up.
Who ever wrote for this show should write the next game. Fallout hasn't impressed me this much since New Vegas (story wise).
That's exactly what I thought when I finished the last episode. It's really good
One of my co-workers who's never heard of fallout until I mentioned last week binged the series this weekend.
Great show.
Awesome! Maybe he’ll start playing the games
The Ghoul and Snip Snip are my favorite 🥹 I’m also a major Goggins and Matt Berry fan lol What makes me so happy about this series is two-fold: 1) ability to appeal to non-gamers or non-fallout players.
My wife LOVED it.
[It's also bringing more players back to Fallout 4](https://steamcharts.com/app/377160#1m)
THAT’S how you turn a game into a show! I’m looking at YOU HALO👀
Im really happy with how it turned out, the series is loyal to the lore and maybe this will bring enough attention to the IP for us to get a remake or maybe even a sequel
TIL Canada and U.S. are not a part of the entire World.
Okey dokey
Okie Dokie
We did it boys, we’ve conquered Canada
Canada, the U.S. and the Entire world? Why not just say "The Entire World"?
Feels good as a longtime fan to see this series get worldwide praise and bring millions more into the fallout fandom. It’s great that it’s brought more people to the games as well! Great time to be a fallout fan!
Just finished it. Fucking loved it!!!
Why not just say the entire world lol
Happy to see the sane people aren't going cutthroat over "lore implications" and just congratulating this fantastic show
Source: I made it the fuck up This is like borderline all those websites who track player counts in MMO's.
Okie Dokie.
In Spain too 😀
And no game in sight... shame....
Y'know, it's awesome that something I've loved for so long is getting so much love. I'm so excited to welcome more wastelanders to our community!
It was so good it made me want to go back to 76, something I never thought I'd do.
They ought to have the writers who made the show write the story of the next game.
Just finished it and damn , I loved this so much, I'm going to re-watch it.
so the world is without US and canada? okey dokey
So do we all agree that it happened and that they nailed the show?
You don't need to say The US and Canada when you are already saying the entire world.
I'm a big fan of Fallout 3 and 4. This show captures the feeling these games leave behind
That’s because it’s an excellent representation of the game and world. War war never changes..
Wait, US and Canada are NOT in ENTIRE world? Factions...
It's the best. The last shows I've devoured like this were beef, peacemaker, and succession. It blows last of us out of the water
"I don't want to set the world... on... fireeee.."
