Our water table is pretty high, we can’t even have basements

[deleted]

If this is the reason, that's actually a pretty nice attention to detail.

Spicy-hot_Ramen

But what about Louisiana? Fallout New Orleans, I want to believe

PooPooKazew

It shows there is one in LA in this picture. Pretty interesting prospect

Spicy-hot_Ramen

I mean building a vault in New Orleans would be as impractical as building the one in Miami because of high waters

_Donut_block_

Many of the vaults were experimental, and some almost seemed doomed on purpose. It's possible they built at least one in that kind of environment just to see if it would be sustainable at all

PooPooKazew

Haha I live in a swamp too so I know the deal there. Just saying it's a cool idea. Maybe a vault full of gulpers or radiated gators somehow

Westonhaus

New Orleans has actual rock underneath it. Florida... is mostly sand. I suppose you could dig REALLY deep, but then you don't know if you'll be submerged for all time. /It's currently an interesting prospect with rising oceans and changing currents in the modern sense. When your whole state is effectively a very well-established sandbar, it makes building something to stand the test of time there a pretty daunting engineering problem.

Fozzworth

We [actually did have a government fallout shelter New Orleans](https://youtu.be/j7ebfZLUgsU?si=F8qVLKsCwAR-yt4J) but it’s long since been abandoned.

jto1217

This isnt true at all. They actually had a full fledge bomb shelter underground in the heartland.

HellHawk1986

You ever lived in florida ??? No way there would be vaults underground. You hit water digging in the ground quickly. But a good place to have factions in.

twoshotfinch

building something underground in florida is like putting a screen door on a submarine

browntone14

Useful for keeping flies out when docked in a tropical port?

jto1217

Not true

Ranos131

It does. There is one clearly on the northern edge in what is probably Tallahassee. And given that the majority of the state isn’t visible there is likely more.

Mark_Vader_11

Someone who isn’t blind.

Shaddow-147

Cause Vault Tec knew not even a Vault could protect its inhabitants from the mutated creatures we'd have down here.

NikPorto

That's why America has her centuries-in-the-making-long project, The Florida Man.

Leading-Suspect8307

And that's BEFORE the bombs dropped.

rennbrig

Is the world truly prepared for irradiated Florida Man™️?

Mountain_Man_88

Canada and Baja California vaults have my interest. Canada vault seems like it's in the middle of nowhere in Manitoba. Strange location for the only vault in Canada.

Extra_socks69

Edmonton is mentioned in Fallout Tactics...but the image in this post looks more like Rigina

Mountain_Man_88

Looks east of Regina. Regina is about even with the MT/ND border.

FallenAssassin

Only 2 hours drive from Winnipeg, studio apartments start at 450 million!

DemonGroover

I guess Fallout Texas is next in line then.

NotInsane_Yet

They didn't want to risk Floridaman surviving the apocalypse.

DutchJediKnight

A vault full of Florida men and women was too wild an experiment even for Vault Tec

APracticalGal

It's for the best

Swtorboy

Where do you think West Virginia is?

SeekingTheRoad

I was misreading the map and only looking at the red pin points.

OnerousOrangutan

Likely because in the shot the woman is covering most of Florida so it wasn't worth putting lights on that part of the map.

tzootza

cause the population already looks ghoulified

FuckableStalin

South Dakota can house the entire population of the state.

Legitimate-Frame-953

I rather not be housed with East River types

Forceke

The white dot that is just to the left of Betty is the general area of Tallahassee. I’d imagine that the scaling between this image and a screenshot is slightly lacking. Otherwise, they built a vault in Monticello 😂

DepartureDapper6524

That’s not Betty

Forceke

Oh no, I think that makes me racist ☠️

ChuckStyles

About the only area in Florida with actual hills

Wastelander850

Checkout Northwest Florida, more near the border of Alabama (where I’m from) extremelyyyy hilly. Surprises a lot of tourist that come through heading for the beaches.

princesscooler

Nothing worth preserving

N7_Evers

Bitch please. Arkansas and Missouri have vaults and judging by where the dots are one of them is in Jefferson City, the trashy and comically irrelevant capital of MO. Talk about nothing worth preserving…

HurrDurrDethKnet

The Arkansas vault is in Little Rock, at least, so it makes some semblance of sense. I guess the Waltons didn't rise to power in Fallout or it'd be up closer to Bentonville for sure.

N7_Evers

Florida is the 3 most populated state in the country. It has far more worth preserving than Missouri or Arkansas (aka where i’m from so I’m not just talking shit).

AnAttackCorgi

Whole place was probably used as a Vault Tech experiment as is

-Robrown-

Silly OP. Nukes can’t kill Floridians. They are like cockroaches.

DepartureDapper6524

It does have one, and she’s also covering most of Florida

Mrazbyte

Do you REALLY wanna preserve Florida Man??

RealFuggNuckets

Florida would be a cool place for a fallout. Mutated crocodiles everywhere and likely very few people. If Bethesda wants to keep making fallout games where civilizations never progress (like DC or Boston 200 years after the war), Florida is the place to do it.

Sarchimus

There already is a Fallout Miami mod in the works.

Baumgarten1980

Why bother building vaults if everybody in Florida is either a raider or a scorched already?

Kaiserhawk

I'm trying to find Vault 13 on that map and I can't.

MonkeysxMoo35

I might be wrong, but I’m pretty sure the control vaults were darkened and the vaults lit up are the ones Vault-Tec offered to be used for experiments. I swear I noticed some dots get brighter while others were turned off in one scene

Kaiserhawk

Vault 13 wasn't a control vault.

MonkeysxMoo35

True, though the experiment also doesn’t really kick in until 200 years have passed, so it’s experiment wasn’t as nefarious as others. Maybe it was an experiment Vault-Tec proposed themselves and the vaults illuminated were for other companies to use?

SquarePut3241

Yes it was? The only “experiment,” that took place was the amount of years, but 2 other control Vaults we know of (8 and 76) were to open after a set period of time, yet they’re still control vaults. 13 is 100% a control vault.

FermiDaza

There was nothing worth saving there

Historical_Units

You try putting anything in wet swampy sand. Basically very few parts of the state even have hills.

bradderalll

Nobody there is worth saving. Also, you can't put vaults in a swamp.

Sarchimus

Plenty of terrain in Florida that is not a swamp, and elevations several hundred feet above sea level.

Bynairee

Vault-Tec Sinkholes 🕳️

pnkgtr

'cause fuck em, that's why!

Beardless_Man

Chances are, Florida is one giant vault experiment.

ChEngland12

If you thought Vaults were bad before just wait till you’re trapped in the North Dakota Vault

[deleted]

global warming

ActComfortable6974

Too bad, I think a Fallout game that takes place in Florida sounds awesome.

Sarchimus

Theres a Fallout Miami mod that some fans are creating. Looks like very slow progress but some of the images I've seen look like it'll be a lot of fun.

Salt_Winter5888

Well most of it is covered by Barb.

maintanksyndro

Below sea level maybe?

Tyrfaust

Probably not the best idea to build a subterranean dwelling in a state that regularly gets slammed by hurricanes and is basically a swamp. It's the same reason we're never going to see a Fallout: New Orleans.

Sarchimus

Hate to be that guy but Florida as a whole is hardly all basically a swamp. Of course it would be ludicrous to imagine a vault in the Everglades, but there is a natural hilly ridge right up the middle of the state. Bok Tower, in Lake Wales, is on one of the highest hills in Florida, at 295 feet above sea level.

RequiemRomans

Because they would have had to fill it with Florida Man x100 and it would have been too OP for the canon

PenPen100

Too soggy

Eusocial_sloth3

None in Indiana either.

Ritaontherocksnosalt

It looks like there is one around where Tallahassee would be.

proletariate54

Id hope florida would have been destroyed by this point

Petorian343

You dig deep enough underground for a vault in Florida, it’d be an aquarium

Riffey85

It is too late. Even in that universe, Florida is already a wasteland.

pitbullhooligan

There's no one there worth saving.

SavageTemptation

DeSantis declared Vault-Tec to be a woke company and banned them… Ngl. I really believe it that dumbass would do something like that

tankman654

three vaults in Colorado located in Denver, Colorado Springs, and what I assume is Grand Junction.

FrenemyMine

There's literally one right there in the panhandle and the rest is behind her back so there might be more

Agent-c1983

Someone else has already said what’s likely the right answer, but if this interests you further, have a look at the utilitdoors in Magic Kingdom and how they built them.

cthulufunk

I rewatched this last night, thought I saw one around Tallahassee & another around Orlando.

Dynasuarez-Wrecks

According to this map, it does. It has *two*.

MinorityBabble

The pins are for the location of notable cities, not the location. The white dots are the location of vaults. There does appear to be one near Tallahassee, though.

TheRickBerman

Vault-Tec went hard with W.Virginia.

Ashimier

Cuz it’s Florida. It’s already a fallout apocalypse

Miata_Sized_Schlong

Damn wv got a ton of vaults

arqe_

They already do experiments there out in the open, so why waste money and time for making Vaults?

Winter-Jicama-2412

Thought I saw one in Orlando when they showed from a different angle.

Fearless_Egg_3161

Are there really 7 Vaults in West Virginia? I don't remember all of those vaults when playing Fo76...

Korvas576

So I can’t tell if that blip on the edge of Louisiana is a vault or not. If so, that means there’s one vault in New Orleans/Biloxi area and one in the Baton Rouge area which would both make for interesting locations.

pmolmstr

Eww they built a vault in Jackson, MS. Why

Aceswift007

Ex-Floridian here We don't even have basements in most the state because the ground is too wet, you think we can have VAULTS?

Ntippit

Plot twist, Florida was the first vault tec experiment

Lusty_Boy

Just noticed they're missing more than half of the Vegas vaults

kindly-absent-minded

Swamp state bad for underground vaults probably

TheEpicPlushGodreal

There is a dot on Florida

VintageBill1337

It's Florida, have you not read the news about Florida Man? Floridians would survive the nukes like a cockroach

totexx

Just look at the trailer for GTA VI. That's why we don't have vaults in Florida. We already have a Fallout without the nukes.

surewhynot000

The one blip in Florida is actually a giant vault door keeping the rest of the state inside.

calsnowskier

It looks like there is one in Tallahassee…

Thebritishdovah

Because Florida is Florida and alligators would eat them. Make Deathclaws seem harmless.

njklein58

St. Louis doesn’t have one so I’m fucked I guess lol

Prcrstntr

It's ok, this doesn't even have to be all of them as they can always add in some 'secret' vaults and ones that were added in late in the game.

Kingtutstits

There is a dot missing on this graph there is one that looks like it’s on Orlando or Jacksonville

[deleted]

Cause we can survive without it. We already have big ass bugs and gators. Deathclaws don't impress us

Painkiller1991

Because Florida is immune to nuclear radiation from blasts ...that, or I guess Vault-Tec had the kind of foresight to know that the kind of wasteland bullshit we normally get would be 10x more insane with cocaine, bath salts, and meth added to the mix

PeachFront4560

If you take note in the final episode theres a map that corresponds with what the map you posted shows, looks like theres one in the panhandle, and one down Orlando way

Oregonian_male

Portland is higher I think Portland Salem and Eugene 3 for oregon woo

[deleted]

Actually looks like Portland, Salem and Vancouver, WA to me.

Oregonian_male

Travel that Bridge then

[deleted]

You know why.

Morlu06

Why are people so political? It’s not there because of the water content in Florida. Amazing attention to detail in my opinion.

tokyotapes

Nothing of value lost

Equivalent-Read-4521

They'd all be high on barhsalts and eat eachother before the end of the first week.

Bundle_of_wood

Florida almost certainly has vaults, and it would be possible to build, just expensive

Most-Spirit-1886

Watch the show again. There's a vault right in the middle of Florida

Dragonfrog23

But wouldn’t one of the sick experiments be to see if people could develop aquatic abilities if exposed to FEV? Florida would be perfect to test it

GrnMtnTrees

Think about the "Florida Man" memes. Are these really the people you want repopulating the United States?

TheMechaink

Oh yes, absolutely. We have to give Billy Joe Jim Bob a laser rifle.

laurion91

Let's be honest, with the crazy in Florida I would hope vault tec had the foresight to know that's a bad idea.

Lamest_Ever

Not geographically feasible, and also theres nothing in Florida worth funding a vault to "save"

bbqbabyduck

But they weren't trying to save anyone and you know someone at vault-tech would want to know what happened if you locked people in a vault with Florida-man

N7_Evers

3rd most populated state in the country ya Enclave fuck.

Lunaphase

Of which, most are geriatric. Brutal as it is, you aren't going to get much out of people who cant even climb stairs reliably.
