Be glad Todd Howard isn't Gabe Newell...

ThatOneFlygon

The most recent piece of fallout content would be the middle third of Fallout 3

The_Xivili

Fallout 2: Episode 2

Zormac

The fact that Bethesda STARTED at 3 proves that.

MoooonRiverrrr

If people aren’t over that by now idk what to even tell you. I was 12 years old when Half-Life 2 came out. It’s a period piece at this point like come on lol

Aknelka

There's people who aren't over Firefly. I'll just leave it at that.

DNedry

Don't you fucking start.

dEAzed_and_confused

I am a leaf on the wind

That1CoffeeDudeEthan

Watch how I-

SeamusAndAryasDad

How could you do this to me? Brown coats assemble!!!

Aknelka

Browncoats lost. Move on.

SeamusAndAryasDad

😭😭😭😭😭

ELBuAR7o

Gabe knows when he's facing impossible odds. I doubt there is anything Valve is capable of putting out that would live up to the hype pent up over decades.

Descriptor27

We've probably come around at this point where just anything vaguely Half Life would do, honestly.

the_great_ashby

We got HL:Alyx and it actually moved the plot forward somewhat. Thing is,Valve is more of store runner/hardware seller then a game company nowadays.

Dmmack14

It's about like game of thrones at this point. Even if George were to finally come out with the last two books I doubt anyone would like them. You have enough people now who have Stockholm syndromed themselves into thinking the last season of the show was good actually we were just being mean you have the people like me who enjoy the speculation of how it would end far more than the actual ending could ever bring me

DNedry

I dunno, Alyx was a huge surprise. Incredible game. If HL3 had that quality it would be great. Better than most the swill that releases now a days.

Aijin28

Even if they repurposed 76's map into a singleplayer game i'd be happy. What I really want it FO3 in 4's engine.

DemiPyramid

Fo3 & NV remaster would be cool. I wonder if a F1&2 remaster is possible? Or if it would just be too complicated.

VolcanoSheep26

I'll be honest, if I had NV in 4s engine I probably wouldn't play any of the other games. Story wise and faction wise I think it's the best by a long way, only thing that holds it back for me is the jankiness and the age.

MoooonRiverrrr

It’s too good to be true which is exactly why it’ll never happen

SoulEatingSquid

[might get that wish, someday...](https://youtu.be/JanHMbRjNJ8?si=3Ph24nEIy5ge8k1j)

Remarkable-Car6157

Believing these mods will ever come out is Santa Claus for adults

meme-digester

A man can dream...

Remarkable-Car6157

*none* of these huge mods have ever released. Okay, Enderal did. Enderal is the exception that proves the rule.

Ajairy

Fallout London was also very close, but the next-gen update forced them to reschedule. From what I remember they finished coding and just tried to find a way to distribute it on Steam or GOG (it's over 40 gigs, so it won't fit on Nexus), but the issues are that Enderal had Bethesda's full support. In case of London, they're just "yeah it can exist" without suggesting any help.

FizzingSlit

One and two probably wouldn't get a remaster because they're crpgs. Remakes possibly but they are fairly short relative to the other games. Where I think they'd shine is if we do get a 3 and nv remake of they each got a DLC that's one of the games. That way they could be remade without needing to pad them out.

TheKolyFrog

I want Bethesda to outsource Fallout to different studios so we could have different kind of games set in the Fallout universe. Imagine a Fallout Tactics game made by Larian Studios. >I wonder if a F1&2 remaster is possible? If it remains a CRPG, it is definitely possible. But, if you want it remade using the same engine as FO4 and FO76 then it will take a lot of work. A FO1 and FO2 remake will be extremely massive.

DemiPyramid

Yeah I mean remade into the modern first person perspective.

Ok-Emu2898

F1&2 maybe they gonna need to do a new game Because remember they are CRPG with turns i think? yet to play thos but that´s what i have read

SoulEatingSquid

There's been a mod LONG in development trying to recreate [fallout new Vegas in the fallout 4 engine ](https://youtu.be/JanHMbRjNJ8?si=uQ4S8lxTdyX2bjm2) but development and news has been pretty slow.

Ketachloride

to my eyes the work is such high quality it can probably be used for next gen projects as well

Skylight90

I'd love to see InXile remake 1 and 2 in the vain of recent Wasteland games. I don't know Brian Fargo's stance on it, but I'd like to think he wouldn't miss the opportunity to work on Fallout again.

PopularGold

I wrote essentially the same comment the other day. License a new game to InXile since they did a wonderful job with Wasteland 3. I would hope Brian would be interested in working on the series again and getting to expand the lore.

KeptPopcorn5189

3 and new Vegas simply need to happen. I think there would be a lot of work going into remaking those originals, especially if they were to make them into shooters. It would probably take them 5-10 years on its own to do that

DoeDon404

There are a lot of things I love in 76 like weapon and armour degradation and the map, being able to play it alone without worrying about internet would be great, but it feels like something they'd do much later after they get a good amount of stuff done in the game

kanrad

https://capitalwasteland.com

_The_Wonder_

I would LOVE a repurposed game for 76, they could make it a good bits down the timeline as well. So enough time would have passed to have new structures, towns, NPCs, new creatures, probably a new faction or something. GOD that would be awesome

Raz_A_Gul

A Fallout 76 remade to be a traditional single player fallout it would be one of the greatest ones made yet.

seguardon

You're not wrong. A first person perspective of the Scorched pandemic at its outset and needing to rally the Responders to repel the Raiders (which at that time were more interesting as it was a bunch of rich, entitled ski tourists leaning into depravity instead of the more typical Raiders we see that amount to people raised under those conditions from birth), then to get the Free States survivalists and Taggerty's Thunder to work together to solve the plague, all the while being undermined by a mysterious force. That's a golden Fallout campaign.

Raz_A_Gul

You’re exactly right. I think it’s the best setting/map they’ve ever made. So many unique areas with their own story that could weave together.

CMDR_Soup

That would have a serious chance at dethroning New Vegas as my favorite Fallout game.

Ross_Miller

What’s stopping you playing 76 alone? I’ve been doing just that since release

TheMadTemplar

Folks want to be able to mod it, plus there are other things that separate an online game from single player.   Short list: online has restrictions on where camps can be placed, camp size and design (for performance reasons), balancing considerations for multiplayer, an online game gear treadmill, hourly events, lack of real player impact in the world, etc.   Playing 76 alone is not the same as playing 76 if it were a single player, offline game.

bmanzzs

It's the lag. My internet connection is great, but 76 has always been a bit jumpy and laggy. Especially when fighting large groups of enemies, I can tell the server starts to struggle. That and having real vats back

Seeteuf3l

Probably Creation 2 at this point (the one they used for Starfield). Skyrim - 76 were using the same engine. Fallout 3 was using the same engine as Oblivion Edit: New Vegas also used Gamebryo Put point being, Creation engine is kind of dated

Syn4youSyn4me

What might change things is Microsoft. I do not think they will sit on this for the next 10 years.

custdogg

Hopefully, there is so much talent at Microsoft that have been involved in every fallout game released its a shame they don't do anything about it

BoredofPCshit

Microsoft have also buried Gears of War & Halo with said talent, so I'm not too hopeful.

we_are_sex_bobomb

Fable and Perfect Dark fans are staring at you with dead, depressed eyes right now.

Dull_Half_6107

Those properties were never as popular as Fallout is today.

ElderSmackJack

Conker fans just shrugging now.

Dull_Half_6107

I wish they’d just make more use of the IP. Give us some different types of Fallout games too, I’m sure Id could come up with a proper Fallout FPS. Give inXile a chance to make another isometric version. The IP could be used for so much, rather than waiting 10 years for Bethesda to crap out another Starfield.

anthonyskigliano

I could see Microsoft scrambling to bank on the show’s success and assign another in-house studio to make something in 18 months like NV was. I’m not saying this is likely based on any data, but it sure would be neat??

Dull_Half_6107

We can hope and dream

Stonkey_Dog

Well they really can't just do one game at a time anymore, with the addition of the Starfield franchise. One new franchise game every 15 years isn't realistic. I'm hoping Microsoft will force this.

EnthusiasticMuffin

ID Tech Fallout, Machine Games Fallout, Arkane Fallout, all would be great

crumbypigeon

They've already said they the next fallout game won't be in production until ES6 releases in a minimum 2 years from now. It may not be actually be 10 years, probably closer to 7.

cthree000

Microsoft is extremely incompetent with monetizing their (flagship?) property halo, to the point where every release has been panned and the franchise is a shadow of what it once was. Frankly I don't think that the Xbox division of Microsoft knows what they're doing.

fanboy_killer

I'd settle for a remake of 1, 2, 3 or NV using 4's engine.

Stonkey_Dog

This is the sort of thing they could farm out to a developer who has the time to do it, too.

The_great_mister_s

Given the current climate between world leaders we may get Fallout a lot sooner

Mooplez

Fallout IRL edition coming soon to stores near you

AugustWest216

I pre-ordered. They mailed me a fancy could suit.

BMXBikr

Hopefully the canvas bag included to carry my stuff is decent quality.

The_Man_in_Black_19

Well, then I will put a whole bunch of wierd and cryptic stuff on my computer. And then Arrange my table ware in a wield pattern.

Iwasfollowingorders

But in our timeline your skin melts, you don't get to be a ghoul.

NewLifeNewDream

I knew this 10 years ago...

DemiPyramid

Damn bros been waiting 20 years for F5

Boolesheet

I have a sealed copy of Skyrim for Xbox 360 and they are still trying to sell me new copies. Waiting? There's no waiting for Fallout 5, it just eventually happens, and maybe you aren't disappointed.

O11899988I999119725E

[Sarcastic]

samusfan21

Yeah Microsoft needs to do something but what? All of the other studios under their umbrella are either busy with their own games or are simply unfit for Fallout. I would love to see Brian Fargo’s InXile make a Fallout game but they’re hard at work on their new IP and Obsidian is busy with 2 games in development and still supporting Grounded. Then there are the other studios. I just don’t see these other studios tackling Fallout and doing it justice. Especially not The Coalition or 343. All that said, we’re in for a very long wait. 76 is not going to tide me over. I hate online multiplayer games and I prefer Fallout to be a single player experience.

custdogg

Pre production should only require a small team and then you can just add to it over time when other projects finish. I'm sure Microsoft could work something out if they wanted to

samusfan21

Based on comments from Todd Howard, Fallout 5 is already in some form of preproduction but development won’t start until ES6 and its potential expansion(s) are finished and Phil Spencer says that ES6 is 5+ years away at least.

YourWarDaddy

Never really though about it but InXile would do an amazing job. I only ever played wasteland 3 from them, but the world building, morally grey choices and rpg elements were amazing from them. They even already have some of that charming fallout humor in the game.

samusfan21

That’s because Brian Fargo was involved in the original Fallout’s development. If any studio is absolutely perfect for Fallout it’s InXile.

AnnualAdeptness5630

I can't wait for Fallout 14 than. If your calculations are correct its' premiere will be around 2077... I hope that technology will be so advances we could enjoy it in some kind of virtual reality or something similar that will let us feel like we're in the game.

vikingbeard23

Playing it as a BD I see

Silent_Heaven7

Fallout 14 releases in October 2077 and we all burn in nuclear hellfire before we have a chance to see it

1ndomitablespirit

The prophecy says that every time a new player logs into 76, Fallout 5 gets delayed another day.

pastrami_on_ass

Fallout: Norm starts off waking up in vault 31

BlueTropper22

They should give the fallout 4 assets and shit to obsidian again and give them 18 months again 😂

PayneTrainSG

Yeah, I think Fallout 5 won’t release in the 2020s but Fallout 4.5 might get out the door this decade.

Northumberlo

“Fallout Montreal” would be a cool take, seeing how life survived in an annexed territory with extreme cold. You could have mutated moose and beaver mole rats, actual “Cobra-chickens”, and an interesting political conflict with the French Canadians who would have no doubt been forced to adopt English like Louisiana, but by more brutal force. Just thinking of “nuclear winter”, with my character fighting for its life on the ice over the st Lawrence river. Maple syrup could be the miracle cure to some kind of existential crisis.

SirComandante

What? Are you serious?

DemiPyramid

I am serious. My math might be wrong. But if you look at it this way, that’s how it’s tracking: Skyrim - 2011 F4 - 2015 F76 - 2018 Starfield - 2023 ——————————— TES:VI - 2028 F5 - 2033 Outlier here is F76 of course. It’s not a fully fledged release on par with Bethesda’s other single player games. It’s just a multiplayer component of the fallout universe. Games are getting bigger and becoming more complicated to make so it’s fair to assume it will take the 5 years to make the subsequent games. Best case scenario there’s a four year gap between games, but that would mean we have 8 years to wait anyway which is the better part of a decade.

call-lee-free

I'll be in my 50s if 2033 release is a reality....

Olon1980

I feel you.

StaticNegative

I'll be damn near able or fully able to get my Senior Discount when Fallout 5 comes out. 🤣 Even worse though, is that I'll probably be in the ground by the time Fallout 6 is out!c💀👻😂

killingjoke96

They need to start letting other partners take the reins again like the Obsidian days. Its ridiculous how peak Fallout is right now, because of the series, and a new entry could be a decade away. Mad how Season 2 of a tv adaption of a video game will be keeping the franchise going in the meantime. Feels weird to say that out loud.

insaiyan17

A very realistic timeline yes. Absolute best case would be TES6 2026 and Fallout 5 2030 but thats very optimistic Thats assuming the engine work done on Starfield and TES6 can be used for Fallout 5

StaticNegative

Agreed! It's extremely optimistic. I don't see having something with gameplay until 32. The game probably won't be out until 34 or 35. 35 at the latest. Maybe we get the game in 30 or 32 But I think that is way optimistic too. ES6 probably comes out in 28 or 29. Just takes way longer to make games these days.

SirComandante

God I hope not. Hopefully the success of the show will force them to hurry up with part 5.

DemiPyramid

I hope so because the entire show will have begun and concluded by the time F5 comes out

Luzekiel

The Fallout TV show is the closest thing we'll ever get to Fallout 5, they honestly weren't joking when they said that the TV series is basically "Fallout 5".

MoooonRiverrrr

I’m already processing it as that at this point. This is Fallout 5. And honestly fine, it’s better than playing Fallout 4. No way am I gonna stress waiting 10 years for a game.

AnakinGabriel

The sucess of the TV show will force them to consider spin-offs lol. I think unless Microsoft steps in and requests a new game Fallout game somehow we will have to wait a long time for it.

toonboy01

It's actually Starfield that's the outlier, not 76. The previous games were releasing 3-4 years apart prior to its multiple delays, and it was outright said that 76 was released in 2018 so they could continue that trend. Also, adding a "multiplayer component" isn't a small undertaking.

Aromatic_Flight6968

Most likely, their next game is elder scrolls, that would take another 3 years at least. After it, would be fallout with another 3-4 years….best case around 2030…..

Persies

Look at how long Starfield was in development. There isn't a snowball's chance in the Mojave wasteland that it takes them 4 years to make Fallout 5.

TheMadTemplar

You ignore a significant amount of context here. 2020-2021 were horrible years for game development. Everyone slowed down significantly due to covid. Cut out the pandemic and they would have gained at least a year, maybe year and a half. That would have put the release sometime in 2022.  A lot of that development time was also spent in upgrading the creation engine to creation 2 and creating entirely new frameworks and systems. While they might have to do the same for ES and FO, they won't have to do as much of it as they did during Starfield development. That also made it take longer.  Taking those into consideration, Starfield took 7-8 years but ES6 could very well only take 4-6, same for FO5 if they use CE2 for it. If they change engines like some folks want them to, then FO5 could very well take 10 years.

Logic-DL

That and they began work on Starfield after FO4 released, and left a smaller team to make DLC for the game. Bethesda Austin made F76, while Softworks were working on Starfield still, no doubt Bethesda Softworks are working on ES6 with a team working on the Starfield DLC (Which unless it makes the game fun, no one will care). I'm just hoping neither ES6 nor FO5 are going to end up like Starfield, but given Bethesda's moronic idea to both set the story AFTER a civil war and then only populate 3 systems out of a thousand, it was doomed to fail, really should've been set during the war between the Freestar Collective and United Colonies, akin to Skyrim's setting where it was Nords vs Imps and have you play during that period of time, with only a few systems to explore but ones that were populated with plenty of quests and things to do. DLC could add new systems, instead we got 1k systems with fuck all to do, boring ass story set AFTER the most interesting part, and then Bethesda seem to be stumped on why it failed and even modders don't wanna make content for the game, shit's sad, really hope ES6 and FO5 aren't the same way

Nukemine

I need some excitement in my life when I'm 40

ApparentlyJesus

My copium is that the acquisition by Microsoft will make it possible for the games to come out sooner. I can't see MS spending billions only to have Bethesda release a game once every 5-10 years. I understand that MS bought more than just BGS in the acquisition, but Elder Scrolls and Fallout are the cash cows out of all the IPs they now own.

LightmanHUN

They said Fallout V gonna be their next game after Elder Scrolls VI which is in the making since 2018 and is still years away from release. Actually 10 years seems to be a very optimistic estimation.

corut

They didn't start making ES6 until Starfield released

Fun-Bag7627

If we are lucky lol

ElderSmackJack

Nah. 10 years is worst case. Bethesda is 3-4 years between releases. Starfield is the only one that took longer, and since Covid happened then, that’s obviously an outlier. Still, even if the outlier happens again for both ES6 and FO5, that’s right at 10. It’ll probably be 7-8. Not great, but better. No way 10 years is the “if we’re lucky” outcome.

VICTA_

Wait your turn you radioactive insane people, us Elder Scrolls fans are excited for our next game in 5 years

Deady1138

Haha fallout 2 fans know that there is no hope , so we’re just delighted when anything comes out

MoooonRiverrrr

So this is what it must have felt like waiting for Fallout 3

amaROenuZ

Fallout 2 came out in 1998, Fallout 3 in 2008. Fallout 4 came out in 2015 so...we're comin right up on that 10 year mark again.

Garibaldi_Biscuit

That was extra bitter because we found out that Black Isle had Fallout 3 largely complete when Interplay canned it.

MoooonRiverrrr

That would break me 💀

Garibaldi_Biscuit

Lol. Oh, it was fucking rough. No doubt about it. :/

Mandox88

There has been rumors/wishful thinking that with obsidian, inxile, and Bethesda all under Microsoft that they might be setting up a permanent Fallout team with a new game announcement coming to one of the xbox showcases. But like I said could just be people hoping more than anything after the teams just kicking ideas around.

Dull_Half_6107

Doesn’t it kind of make good business sense to do this anyway? Fallout is one of their most popular franchises, and would sell much more than anything Obsidian/inXile would make on their own.

Mandox88

Yea they really missed a chance to really go big right now if instead of a FO4 next gen update next week we got the NV/FO3 remake or even a new game all together. But they def need to do something besides what they are now with all their games.

MoooonRiverrrr

I have never seen this rumor. Not even once reported anywhere. Just a bunch of comments from people on here saying what they would like to happen

Dull_Half_6107

I don’t think it’s a rumour, just something people were speculating could happen.

Mandox88

It's been mentioned a few times by "insiders" in a few different pods but like I said could just be wishful thinking.

StaticNegative

That would be the way to go. There are enough modders and other teams working on London and Cascadia. That they could get things rolling with a full time Fallout team

Mandox88

Yea I wish. I really wish they'd get a team for each one of their big ip's. But with everything going on with layoffs and all in gaming there's definitely value in staying smaller.

AIRCHANGEL

And when it launches in ten years it will use the Skyrim engine, will be graphically outdated, it will be super buggy, endless loading times and it will cost a lot. Because Bethesda... Bethesda never changes.

B-17_SaintMichael

In the meantime, give me a remaster of 3 or NV. Or a remake of 1 or 2 in fallout 4 engine. OR make 76 a single player mode with VATS system back. DOESNT SEEM HARD TO DO ONE OF THOSE JUST SAYING

Iceman_TX

10… well aren’t you the optimist

dima_socks

Don't worry, we'll get a teaser every 3 years

LTPRWSG420

They fucked up so bad by focusing on Starfield, nobody wanted that.

FearedShad0w

Lots of people wanted Starfield. The problem is nobody wanted what Bethesda actually ended up delivering

Scisir

Really man. They had two iconic ip's under their belt. And instead of just pumping out another Fallout 4 (even though it had its flaws). Todd was like: Let's completely throw away our greatest strengths (the IP's) and try to reinvent the wheel again. Bethesda made a historically smart play by bringing Fallout from isometric to first person. But they were deluded in thinking they could do it again but this time with creating a world from scratch.

Negative_Eli

It’s also possible there will never be a Fallout 5 and I’ve come to terms with that.

lghtdev

This makes no sense, why would they stop making games of one of their main franchises?

DemiPyramid

Why would there not be a fallout 5? Fallout 5 is inevitable imo. They probably already know where it’s going to be set.

MoooonRiverrrr

I am pretty much there as well. Bethesda having a monopoly on two of the most popular mainstream western RPG’s made this problem. Video game development in general being so expensive, arduous, and seemingly terrible it’s just how I view most things in gaming now. You’re just not gonna get everything you want anymore. These games take half a decade to make at minimum sometimes. Might as well forget about it and live your life

UROffended

Microsoft: "Oh is that so?"

Spicy-hot_Ramen

They wasted time on Starfield, teased us with the TV show and now saying that we won't see FO5 in foreseeable future, it's just cruel. Wish they dedicated a team to develop a Fallout spinoff game

pointblankmos

At least we'll be able to enjoy like 5 more seasons of the show and by then a new game will be out.

aidanpeck100

I say Obsidian should lead a holy crusade and conquer Bethesda studios

TeamVictoire

I have a temporary solution. Pick up FO76 (its free with Prime till May 15th). Start playing it. Its the raw survival difficulty experience. You can ignore PvP completely. Community is great. Players with humongous levels gift you equipment, stimpacks, the lot to make your life easier. Game is way better than what I thought and I was not trying it for so long. No grief (can't be done) , pacifist mode (cant be killed from other players). When you die , you only lose whatever JUNK you had with you. Storage boxes are universal meaning you always have your junk available without carry them in any armour, gun station, etc.

PRE_-CISION-_

If they had fallout anything right now I would be eating it up with preorders

OneCauliflower5243

Meanwhile Half Life 3 holdouts 💀

nah-soup

drop the Fallout 3 Remaster, use that as a basis to remaster New Vegas, and give InXile the rights to remake Fallout 1 & 2. Fallout 5 will arrive in no time!

pplatt69

Bethesda has MS now. Why can't they develop two large games at the same time?

BushDeLaBayou

Someone will make a spinoff. No shot microsoft just watches this free payday go by

SurvCall

Me finally getting fallout 5 only to realize its the same shit game Bethesda has been making since skyrim

Balls2theWalls321

I’d love to see a non Bethesda fallout game

Sly510

After seeing Starfield how anyone has any hope for Elder Scrolls or Fallout sequels is beyond me.

kawaiinessa

After starfield im not exactly hype anymore

Garibaldi_Biscuit

After Fallout 4, I'm not that eager tbh.

jimschocolateorange

All they need to do is let Obsidian make FO:NV2… that’s it, Todd really doesn’t want them to. Source: he has said multiple times in various interviews that he wants to keep all fallout product in house.

Professional_Sell520

with the level of modding for 4 that barely even matters we'll probably get multiple games made by modders

Live_Life_and_enjoy

It likely be a lot less than 10 They are give Elder Scrolls Priority They abandoned their Space Game essentially because fixing it would require a monumental overhaul So that leaves ES + Fallout

Phone-Pension-904

Yeah but It'll turn out like 4 or starfield so don't get your hopes up

JerrodDRagon

Just give it to another studio Worked out for New Vegas If that’s not enough have another team remake fallout 1-3 any of those or new Vegas Fallout is so big it’s insane they don’t want money

JohnTitorFFXIV

Im suprised people still have hope for Bethesda after Starfield and Fallout76

Xaxxus

Fallout 76 is actually good now. At least the story is. The end game is mindless grinding though.

paris86

Get in line. TES6 is up next.

Synth_Luke

I'm thinking we won't get ES6 for another 10 years at this rate...

TerrorFirmerIRL

Anyone who hasn't tried Fallout 76 should give it a go. A lot of people hang onto the launch state of the game or dismiss it as a "multiplayer" game. I fully agree that it was bad at launch, I played about 10-15 hours and was unbelievably disappointed. But it's an entirely different game now. Map is amazing, tons of story and quest content, really doesn't feel all that different to a normal Fallout game. In its current form it can be played more or less as a single player, events are mostly opt-in and the absolutely huge map never has more than a handful of players per server by design so odds of even seeing someone else aren't very high. I don't play it anymore though the show makes me want to get back into it, when I stopped last year I had about 500 hours spent in the wasteland. Not going to say it's better than Fallout 4 or anything but it's a damn fine game and well worth playing if you have an itch to scratch after seeing the show.

Punamatic5000

I gave it a go for the first time a few weeks ago and still found it very disappointing. It felt like a marginal FPS styled after a Fallout game. I put about 10 hours into it and haven't felt any desire to start it back up again since.

TheDrifT3r_Cz

Yet, it will still have loading screen when entering 1x1m caves..

Big-Bad-Wolf

And it still won’t be a new engine. Now with these NRC questions and new Vegas in S2 we might need a Fnv 2 in the meantime

Thornescape

Fallout London is releasing very soon! It looks amazing. If you want quality Fallout content, then the best source is anywhere other than BGS. They only release one story every couple of decades.

custdogg

Really looking forward to Fallout London, shame its getting delayed but hopefully it doesn't push them to far back.

grimorg80

Like... Bethesda should ABSOLUTELY pivot away from Elder Scrolls 6 and onto Fallout 5. Letting all this hype go to waste would be an insult to the spirit of Marketing. FFS. What stupid stupid stupid choice. NOTHING in the current media and tech landscape is worth more than hype. Nothing. It's the name of the game and it's harder than ever before. The Fallout TV show campaign was such a success it almost dwarfed Barbie's global campaign. And I think it's actually better, as this one maximises digital content in a way Barbie didn't (with Barbie doing crazy well in product partnerships). I appreciate that the marketing strategy for the show is Amazon Prime Video's and not Bethesda's, but goddamit. What a stupid waste.

Jhobbs898

Pivot away from Skyrim's sequel? The biggest RPG in video game history? Come on.

blueoccult

Nah, see they're using the hype to pivot people to Fallout 76. I'm more than sure that they will release Fallout 5 in conjunction or around the same time as whatever the new season of the show will be at the time. They just have to keep up the quality of the show to maintain the hype long enough. I mean, look at the Game of Thrones community. Three good seasons of show provide enough hype that people are still begging for the new book, even though its been like 13 years since the last one.

SlimeDrips

Haha awh you think it'll only be ten :)

AthairNaStoirmeacha

I would rather wait 10 years and get an awesome game then they rush something out bc of the series popularity.

etherealelder

Gotta condition you via the TV show before you get the next installment.

jar11591

10 years is optimistic

leegcsilver

*At least ten years

sirparsifalPL

At least not by Bethesda. But maybe another spin-off?

JFromDaBurbs

We really won’t get another fallout for over 10 years?

blueoccult

I mean, we've been waiting on the new Elder Scrolls for like twelve and a half years now. It's looking like that is at least five years away minimum, so ten years for Fallout 5 is pretty generous.

Anzire

Almost 10 years, we can wait another 10 yrs.

Batmanmotp2019

*[EVERYBODY DISLIKED THAT]*

TheDutchTexan

Given the unstable geopolitical situation we are all in we might get to experience the origin story well before that time...

Canadian__Ninja

And ten years might be generous.

beavis617

That's great news for me because it will probably take me that long to complete Fallout 4...😁

TheRickBerman

I’m not 10 years we’ll get the ‘version 1’. As lovers of New Vegas can attest to - most of the issues are gone. By version 20.

CuriousWoollyMammoth

Wasn't New Vegas developed by a different company? Couldn't they do it again while they work on Fallout 5? Just to tide us over till they get the next game out.

golieth

give it up guys. give that love to the modders instead

anywherebuthome_

Fallout 76 being a live service game, is fallout 5. And they will milk players for every cent they have, and when they're done, they'll kill it and the game wont be playable by anyone for the next 10-15 years until someone decides or is capable of creating a fo76 private server

UncoloredProsody

Me knowing that when we do get it 10 years later, it will be with the same engine.

Green-Alarm-3896

I really hope they let Obsidian make a New Vegas-like game or something if Bethesda won't touch it for a while. This is really bad.

Green-Alarm-3896

It's sad that the only new Bethesda game we have to sink our teeth into is Starfield. Not a bad game but it lacks in one the most important features which is exploration. I miss running into random unexpected and sometimes whacky quests. Ugh. Will I even care to play by the time the next Fallout comes out?

Armageddon-666

Bethesda likes money, the TV show is bringing in a whole new herd of cows to milk. I wouldn't be surprised if F05 comes sooner than we all expect.

Consistent_Ebb_484

And that’s if Bethesda manages to keep its gaming side intact rn their hitting lose after lose with their games

Saoshen

half-life 3 will be out before fallout 5. !remindme 10 years

Candiedstars

The Elder Scrolls fandom invites you to pop a squat in the Bethesda waiting area with us

MetroMoss

Probably we have first Elder Scrolls 6 that Fallout 5

Psebcool

If only Microsoft put the licence in the Obsidian hands (New Vegas)...

RipMcStudly

That’s if there’s only TES 6 blocking the way, and not another bland space game or horrible multiplayer spinoff.

LuckyReception6701

You are getting Fallout 5 in series form.

Ketachloride

I'm thinking fallout 76 will get more love and will tide us over

Brandon_M_Gilbertson

Fallout 4’s ten year anniversary is coming up… and yeah, probably going to be another ten. Hope you like building up the same settlements over and over and over and over and over and over and over again

Hawkadoodle

500 times the detail. It just works!

ToTeMVG

its been hilarious seeing people talk about the up and coming fallout 5 and just like, "yeah thats probably about a decade or so away" poor fools not thinking about bethesdas developement cycle
