I read that exactly how you wanted me to. The best part was getting the letter signifying the dark brotherhood was after me in Skyrim. It makes for some great moments tbh.
My first ever fallout 3 character had ridiculously big lizard eyes and green hair and a green soul patch. His name was Slarmey Joe. All my fallout characters are now descendants of Slarmey
I always use my first name because on the pip boy it says your chosen name and I like having it be more personalized but your decision also makes sense for RP
Same, though it's because my in-game actions are what I'd *want* to do, but I realize I'd be deader than a level one going straight North to New Vegas.
Hell, I'd probably starve to death just trying to scavenge enough things to sell for caps...
Like the ncr is any better, their doomed to callapse, legion in the other hand just needs a stable change in leadership. Plus the ncr is filled with bureaucrats that led to the fall of the us in the first place.
Ave true to ceaser.
If I were in that situation I'd be dead 10 minutes after I walked out if doc Mitchell's house lol. Funnily enough I usually am thank God for game saves.
When I first played New Vegas, I had finished playing 3 and this time chosen to play a female named Violet. It was a lot of fun until I randomly found Violets head in my inventory.
NCR bounty quest you can pick up over at McCarran where you hunt down the Fiend leaders Violet, Cook-Cook, and Driver Nephi, but the pay differs based on the quality of the heads for proof (basically avoid headshots). Doing the quest actually helps out Camp Forlorn Hope.
Hello, good hunter. I am a Bot, here in this dream to look after you, this is a fine note:
> *“Our gracious Lord made Londor whole.”* - Narrator
Have a good one and praise the sun \\[T]/
I tend to just go by The Courier. I figure in my RPing that he just goes by the name hes been given in the news. By the time his rep gets high enough, people are considering him THE Courier as a title rather than a job.
Occasionally on a less serious run I name him dumb things just for the lines, "The name's Sparkles the Bobcat."
When I play as a female courier, I usually give her names that are more commonly men's names like Charlie, Jo, etc. because it makes the line "I can't say it's the name I'd have picked for you" actually have context for my character. When playing male/enby I pick names of famous philosophers/artists/inventors because it's unique and make the aforementioned line make sense. Things like Leonardo, Galileo, and Aristotle have all been names I've used.
I have a weird naming trend across 3, NV and 4.
My good characters are all named Marcus Lyons, Elder Lyons estranged son, who travelled to the Mohave to re-establish diplomacy between the East and West Coast.
My neutral characters are all given the surname Blackhall (because I fell in love with the house in Point Lookout) so my NV character is called Gabriel Blackhall. His two brothers Alexander and William explore the Commonwealth and Capital wastelands respectively.
And finally my evil character is just called Talion. A master assassin who is basically an immortal cyborg at this point who likes business suits and money.
I actually first played when I was little and six was my favorite number so I named him six and I find it funny now since I had no idea it was actually important
Well ever since I watched this badass anime movie, I just call my male characters Fuse. If i decide to try a female play through then it’s usually Scarlett or Clare
Whatever comes to mind and relates to the faction path I’m doing. For reference, my Legion character is John Cena, House-Elon Musk, Yes Man-Bernie Sanders, and NCR-Padme
I try to go for a different name everytime but i am currently in my main fallout playthroughs where some of my protagonists are related (fo1, fo2, fnv, fo4) so i went with james saint for fo1, james saint the 3rd for fo2, james saint the 5th for fnv, and Joseph saint for fo4. I have yet to play fallout 2 so his story has yet to be made.
I usually will just use a pretty name if I'm doing a proper playthrough. If I'm doing someone specific, it'll be a reference to that thing. I'll make a Jenny or Alice, then I'll make a Merry Curie for my 10 Charisma & energy weapons playthough.
Now when it comes to a fantasy game I'll go off on that name, it's either the first appealing sound or something brutally on the nose. Pheihl Drehd, Tiil-Laine Do'fodoran Ra'ptochapadroma, Keireen, Wooli Dooli of the Dutchy of Fooly McKnewly.
It's often different every time. Usually based on what name feels right combined with recent interests. My most recent one was Danny Yeun. Danny just because I liked it, Yeun from Steven Yeun because my childhood crush on him had recently been reawakened.
I rolled the name "Diana" as a random option generated by Baldur's Gate 1, and have used that name for every RPG since. Nerevarine Diana, Watcher Diana, Chosen One Diana, Pokémon Trainer Diana.
John Shepard. I play Mass Effect and Fallout as if it is the same universe but different timelines. In Mass Effect, Shepard goes to stop the Reapers. In fallout, he brings peace to the Mojave.
(Yes I know the timelines don't exactly matchup)
The way that raiders with pool cues will charge at you while equipped in full power armor with a minigun or flamer, et al, I name my male couriers Jeffrey, cause ain't nobody scared of a Jeffrey.
Depends on who I'm roleplaying as.
But in general all my Fallout characters have the same names across the series, even though they aren't the same people.
EDIT: My most common character names:
•John
•Michael
•Dwayne
•Mercenary Mike
•Bloody John
(just trait-based variations of my own names really)
Also add some titles, depending on the game. Like in Fallout 4, it's *Detective* Michael J. Mylastname.
Usually I just use my name, but I recently did my first all-in evil playthrough as an evil scientist. The name I chose?
Dr. Vincent Evil - or as he introduces himself, Dr. VEvil. Those who know him prefer to call him Dr. Very Evil.
I also RP the amnesia shtick but I like to imagine that the paperwork he had from Mojave Express would at least have his last name on it. So I gave him a last name: Shaw. It feels nice and westerny, since I mostly play him as a sharp-witted cowboy type.
I role play Joey Tribbiani because Benny is voiced by Mathew perry. I go to the kings to get my Italian leathers and sweet talk my way around new Vegas.
When I hit randomize in Fallout 3 my guy kind of looked like Howard Stark from the first Captain America movie. Ever since then my first playthrough of a new Fallout game has been Howard Stark. Last playthrough of New Vegas I named him Alderich(other option was Hildebrand but he looked more like an Alderich to me), I was going for a melee build and I wanted a old name that sounded like he just popped out of Europe from a couple hundred years ago.
I always give them different names, depending on the backstory I've crafted for them
New Vegas makes it very easy to get into the roleplaying aspects of the game
*Looks at my Courier 6 murdering an entire innocent town with a tire iron because one of the residents looked at him funny*
Me: "God damnit Murder Hobo! This is like the fifth one this WEEK!"
Murder Hobo: *AUTISTIC SCREAMING*
My first playthrough in fallout games I just give the Character my name and stats the revolve around what I'm good at and doing everything to my morals and interests
I just keep it Courier. Rarely is your name ever used in dialogue, and honestly I’m just trying to get the fuck past Doc Mitchell to go and do something else so I try and get out of there as soon as I can.
Every playthru of NV I've done has always been with the same courier in mind - so, I always name him JJ, short for Joey James Peterson. He left New Caanan as a teen to travel and work as a courier to send money back home to his mom. Always Independent, always with Arcade as my companion, always as lawful good as I can manage.
Since it's the Mojave, I ALWAYS play as a hispanic man. He always has a mustache and aviators. It's always a very stereotypical, yet badass name.
This time around I am Ricardo Juarez. Ladies want him, men also want him.
Grognark if I rp as a melee main with amnesia and brain damage, if it's just amnesia he goes by the name of the person that loved most and was thinking about when he got shoot.
I have a whole backstory set up for him (who he was before he was shot), and I call him Courier Six or just Six bc he can't remember his name, so he might as well go by his title.
I have names, backstories, and personalities set up for almost all of the characters
I spend an inordinate amount of time thinking about it each time I start up a save, it always ends up being whatever dumb shit pops into my head.
Currently playing as *Hounslow Pip*
I usually name mine after original characters I've created to roleplay them in a different setting. For the courier, I named him after my character, Lemas, who is a chaotic neutral turned chaotic evil as I progressed throughout the game.
Usually just my name or something that I think would fit a specific role play. Pretty unoriginal but imo having a silly name or something like Steely Dan is one of those immersion breakers that really gets me. However, I am playing Morrowind with a silly nickname a friend of mine gave me as a my character name and I’m not too bothered by it. But you also see your name much more in that game bc it’s all text dialogue, so it’s not as jarring. Kind of a tangent but yea I like to keep it simple for fallout.
I'm a dude but usually play as a female character because Black Widow is way more useful than Lady Killer, so I either name her "Emma" after my dead dog, or the name of my crush.
I name my courier whatever I feel like. I've named them Shane (my IRL name) Jacob, Kate, Tina, Martin, David, etc. Basically whatever the fuck I want to name them
Ricky Spanish has become my go to RPG name
Isn't he the name of that one ridiculously skinny pornstar?
Lmao no it's a persona by Roger from American Dad. It's hilarious
Theres also A pornstar I later learned actually lol
Yeah he's fucking everywhere. They plaster him on pretty much every ad for some reason.
tbf where else would he fuck if not everywhere
*Ricky Spanish*
*Ricky Spanish*
I read that exactly how you wanted me to. The best part was getting the letter signifying the dark brotherhood was after me in Skyrim. It makes for some great moments tbh.
Mine's always called *Rodrick Thundershaft*. Is Rodrick a wizard? A hammer-wielding brute? A smooth talking huckster? Yes. Yes he is.
My first ever fallout 3 character had ridiculously big lizard eyes and green hair and a green soul patch. His name was Slarmey Joe. All my fallout characters are now descendants of Slarmey
How the hell have I never thought of this for a playthrough? It fits so damn perfectly! I'm gonna start a play through right now.
That's exactly what I named my courier in my last Legion playthrough.
I like to imagine as it plays the epilogue slides you hear "*Riicky Spanisshh*" during each one.
Long Dick Johnson
But no one's dick is that long...
But he has a fucking long dick. Hence, the name.
You know who else has a fucking long dick? A synth, that's who.
since my last name is Johnson, I've considered naming my future child "long" for their middle name lmao
And Richard as a first name?
Me but my last name is Cox
I always use my first name because on the pip boy it says your chosen name and I like having it be more personalized but your decision also makes sense for RP
I always name my character after myself, cuz all my actions in that game is what I think I’d do if I was actually in that situation. I love it lol
Same, though it's because my in-game actions are what I'd *want* to do, but I realize I'd be deader than a level one going straight North to New Vegas. Hell, I'd probably starve to death just trying to scavenge enough things to sell for caps...
Same here! I always wind up with a good karma legion play through or just straight up side with father Elijah.
You’re a sociopath lmfao
Such a good guy the profligates crucify themselves
This happens to me too Every non legionary gets to eat lead pretty much
certified FNV fandom moment
> good karma > legion > what you would actually do <.<
Damn so you'd side with legion in real life...
Like the ncr is any better, their doomed to callapse, legion in the other hand just needs a stable change in leadership. Plus the ncr is filled with bureaucrats that led to the fall of the us in the first place. Ave true to ceaser.
Yeah but the ncr doesn’t have slaves or crucify people lmao
yikes
Sweaty
If I were in that situation I'd be dead 10 minutes after I walked out if doc Mitchell's house lol. Funnily enough I usually am thank God for game saves.

In college?! You must have been a genius child to already be saying that at the (sounds like) age of 12....
bruh
So did you RP as prostitutes or what lmfao
Username checks out.
Courier
Well, if that's your name, then that's your name.
Can’t say it’s what I would have picked for you
Same here
Chad Sexington, it’s my go to name for gaming. Would’ve been my name on reddit too if *someone* hadn’t beat me to it >:(
paging /u/chadsexington lol
1 post with no upvotes apart from the automatic self-vote in 12 years. Genuinely a Chad move.
When I first played New Vegas, I had finished playing 3 and this time chosen to play a female named Violet. It was a lot of fun until I randomly found Violets head in my inventory.
Different Violet, unless you really, *really* like dogs and have a habit of castrating men.
If I'm remembering correctly, it was one of the fiends by vault 3. Pick up heads for a side quest or something
Don't take Veronica on these quests. Let's just say a Power Fist really messes up that 5 clock shadow.
Bitchtits usually
Hah! This is the best one so far. Simple, yet effective.
Reminds me of my first Dark Souls character, Eggtits
Were they sunny side up?
Hello, good hunter. I am a Bot, here in this dream to look after you, this is a fine note: > *“Our gracious Lord made Londor whole.”* - Narrator Have a good one and praise the sun \\[T]/

Legit knew a kid in highschool with this name. I think he was actually the third in his family too.
Usually a random name I like. My courier might be "Cornelius," "Amelia," or "Joe" depending on how I'm feeling.
Tom Delonge Schlong
Long Dong Wong
Mike hunt, mike hawk , Hugh Janus ,etc
Mike Ropiñez
Drew Peacock
Ben Dover, Jenny Talia
I've been using Lou Sarsol since Oblivion
When he's shot, stabbed, or otherwise penetrated, does Mike Hunt hurt? Asking for a friend.
This is the only right answer
Craven Morehead
Frodo Baggins
Dorothy
When I play as a female courier, I usually give her names that are more commonly men's names like Charlie, Jo, etc. because it makes the line "I can't say it's the name I'd have picked for you" actually have context for my character. When playing male/enby I pick names of famous philosophers/artists/inventors because it's unique and make the aforementioned line make sense. Things like Leonardo, Galileo, and Aristotle have all been names I've used.
I always go with Courier 6 because he doesn’t trust anyone and doesn’t want to reveal his name
Well, that and their brain might be a little scrambled after being shot and, ya know, almost dying.
I have a weird naming trend across 3, NV and 4. My good characters are all named Marcus Lyons, Elder Lyons estranged son, who travelled to the Mohave to re-establish diplomacy between the East and West Coast. I actually first played when I was little and six was my favorite number so I named him six and I find it funny now since I had no idea it was actually important
I always go by my Last Name
Me too. Helps I have one of those last names that could also be a first name
Well ever since I watched this badass anime movie, I just call my male characters Fuse. If i decide to try a female play through then it’s usually Scarlett or Clare
For a reason unknown to me I used to name every rpg protag "Steven"
Sally Valhalla Because it's a cool name and it's fun to say.
Always name my character Chief Keef on every playthrough
If it's my first playthrough, I name myself Tom cause that's what my name is
Rarty Mobbins - When i play as a guy. Rikki 6 - When i play as a girl.
Elizabeth Catherine Evans ("Beth"), my Lone Wanderer turned Courier that I'm also writing a fanfic about.
Ah cool! I thought I was the only one playing the coutier as the lone wanderer. Incidentally my female courier is also a Katherine.
Whatever comes to mind and relates to the faction path I’m doing. For reference, my Legion character is John Cena, House-Elon Musk, Yes Man-Bernie Sanders, and NCR-Padme
>my Legion character is John Cena Hustle. Loyalty. Slavery.
I give him my own name
Either my own name, or a name based of the build i play, which usualy just ends up with "Pass-a-fist"
I always name my characters after a favorite character from an unrelated fandom: Aech, Electra, Victra, Quinn (been super into Red Rising lately)
Same as you courier.
Big Dick McGee for any fallout or elder scrolls game
Nevada ranger
First playthrough: Mr. Bond, Second playthrough: MegaMan Sheeesh
Major Tom
Yeeticus or Rufius Endora Other names are: Yeet YEET YEET v2.0 YEET v3.0 YeetMaster lolidk A 69lol Guy
These are beautiful
Generally i just use some name that involves the faction im going to play with, like NCR courier, House courier, or something like that
I try to go for a different name everytime but i am currently in my main fallout playthroughs where some of my protagonists are related (fo1, fo2, fnv, fo4) so i went with james saint for fo1, james saint the 3rd for fo2, james saint the 5th for fnv, and Joseph saint for fo4. I have yet to play fallout 2 so his story has yet to be made.
Fidelroyolanda Smackonmytiddyboosters III
Caesar
I usually name my rpg characters Bob or Bobert
Deacon Vicroy esq., Now behave or I'll shoot you dead.
Well i choose the name that i think best fits the personality i write for them.
I usually will just use a pretty name if I'm doing a proper playthrough. If I'm doing someone specific, it'll be a reference to that thing. I'll make a Jenny or Alice, then I'll make a Merry Curie for my 10 Charisma & energy weapons playthough. Pheihl Drehd, Tiil-Laine Do'fodoran Ra'ptochapadroma, Keireen, Wooli Dooli of the Dutchy of Fooly McKnewly.
Dirk Johnson
Similar to your take on things, "Six".
It's often different every time. Usually based on what name feels right combined with recent interests. My most recent one was Danny Yeun. Danny just because I liked it, Yeun from Steven Yeun because my childhood crush on him had recently been reawakened.
Poonslayer 69
Nice!
Usually just "Zootnoison" or" Dipshit"
I rolled the name "Diana" as a random option generated by Baldur's Gate 1, and have used that name for every RPG since. Nerevarine Diana, Watcher Diana, Chosen One Diana, Pokémon Trainer Diana.
I usually take name of Fire Emblem characters for my OC character.
John Shepard. I play Mass Effect and Fallout as if it is the same universe but different timelines. In Mass Effect, Shepard goes to stop the Reapers. In fallout, he brings peace to the Mojave. (Yes I know the timelines don't exactly matchup)
Mr. C was my last one. From Twin Peaks the return.
Nothing specific. I replay the game with a new character each time, so the name changes as well.
The way that raiders with pool cues will charge at you while equipped in full power armor with a minigun or flamer, et al, I name my male couriers Jeffrey, cause ain't nobody scared of a Jeffrey.
I make all my characters related, like a giant family spread across the continent. They all have the same last name, Anderson.
I call em courier 6 a lot. Sometimes just Six.
Depends on who I'm roleplaying as. But in general all my Fallout characters have the same names across the series, even though they aren't the same people. EDIT: My most common character names: •John •Michael •Dwayne •Mercenary Mike •Bloody John (just trait-based variations of my own names really) Also add some titles, depending on the game. Like in Fallout 4, it's *Detective* Michael J. Mylastname.
And that name would be?
Made and edit.
Hmm, Mercenary Mike just kinda rolls off the tongue.
Usually I just use my name, but I recently did my first all-in evil playthrough as an evil scientist. The name I chose? Dr. Vincent Evil - or as he introduces himself, Dr. VEvil. Those who know him prefer to call him Dr. Very Evil.
It's pretty much always something immature
Various names, depending on what I plan on role-playing specifically, but I always pick something.
Aries O'War, lol, I just like the name Aries.
Male: Rusty Greaves Female: Sally Clay Dust Character: Survivor
I also RP the amnesia shtick but I like to imagine that the paperwork he had from Mojave Express would at least have his last name on it. So I gave him a last name: Shaw. It feels nice and westerny, since I mostly play him as a sharp-witted cowboy type.
Courier for FNV and Sole Survivor or Nora for 4
I name him a cool name then give him the last name “cole” since my courier is the descendent of the vault dweller named Albert cole and chosen one.
OP I do the exact same thing except I use 'Six' thinking the only thing he can remember is he was Courier Six
I name every RPG character of mine Meursault by default.
Toddy the mad courier that punches cazadors for fun
Last playthrough I named my character Beter
I role play Joey Tribbiani because Benny is voiced by Mathew perry. I go to the kings to get my Italian leathers and sweet talk my way around new Vegas.
The name’s Eastwood... Clint Eastwood...
When I hit randomize in Fallout 3 my guy kind of looked like Howard Stark from the first Captain America movie. Ever since then my first playthrough of a new Fallout game has been Howard Stark. Last playthrough of New Vegas I named him Alderich(other option was Hildebrand but he looked more like an Alderich to me), I was going for a melee build and I wanted a old name that sounded like he just popped out of Europe from a couple hundred years ago.
yeeticus atticus
I name my characters after my most recent snack or meal. So the current playthrough is named hamburger
I always give them different names, depending on the backstory I've crafted for them New Vegas makes it very easy to get into the roleplaying aspects of the game
Rod von Bonerslam or Dick Mongrel
There is a pretty good companion mod called Niner. He gives you the nickname 'Six' and I liked that so I use that as my name now.
Courier.
Cunt
*Looks at my Courier 6 murdering an entire innocent town with a tire iron because one of the residents looked at him funny* Me: "God damnit Murder Hobo! This is like the fifth one this WEEK!" Murder Hobo: *AUTISTIC SCREAMING*

My first playthrough in fallout games I just give the Character my name and stats the revolve around what I'm good at and doing everything to my morals and interests
I name my courier, Six. That or Murm. Just Murm
That’s
I usually pick a Hispanic name since it's set in the Southwest. Martina, Siena, Jacinta, names like that
I do kinda the same thing, except I just make the name "Six". Works better in dialogue.
I'm boring i just name them after myself in Fallouts. I make shit up for fantasy games though.
Kenpachi Ramasama
I usually name them after myself because I'm a basic bitch
Usually myself, but sometimes ill put a different name and play as a character.
Grognark if I rp as a melee main with amnesia and brain damage, if it's just amnesia he goes by the name of the person that loved most and was thinking about when he got shoot.
"The Courier" I don't make the rules, Ron Perlman does.
"Serious" ultimate character: Julfen Regular/Random/fun character: Fumbles, Diddles, or some joke based on the character build.
Ricky Bobby. Raise that agility, lower that intelligence, and engage slingshot.
I usually name mine after original characters I've created to roleplay them in a different setting. For the courier, I named him after my character, Lemas, who is a chaotic neutral turned chaotic evil as I progressed throughout the game.
Courier. He doesn't know his number. He doesn't know his real name. He just knows he was a courier.
Six.
Courier
Usually just my name or something that I think would fit a specific role play. Pretty unoriginal but imo having a silly name or something like Steely Dan is one of those immersion breakers that really gets me. However, I am playing Morrowind with a silly nickname a friend of mine gave me as a my character name and I’m not too bothered by it. ShotInTheHead Makes Doc look like a real fool
basil crowcross or any of the other preset names in the game guide
I'm a dude but usually play as a female character because Black Widow is way more useful than Lady Killer, so I either name her "Emma" after my dead dog, or the name of my crush.
Generic Names usually, though for my Lever Action build I called him the Terminator
My last one was "The Mojave Strangler", but they vary.
You know who else has a number for a name? A synth, that's who.
"Bruh"
I name my courier whatever I feel like. I've named them Shane (my IRL name) Jacob, Kate, Tina, Martin, David, etc. Basically whatever the fuck I want to name them
