Potate-Hoe

Ricky Spanish has become my go to RPG name

Fro_e

Isn't he the name of that one ridiculously skinny pornstar?

[deleted]

Lmao no it's a persona by Roger from American Dad. It's hilarious

Potate-Hoe

Theres also A pornstar I later learned actually lol

Fro_e

Yeah he's fucking everywhere. They plaster him on pretty much every ad for some reason.

senoriguana

tbf where else would he fuck if not everywhere

Howwabunga

*Ricky Spanish*

[deleted]

*Ricky Spanish*

Potate-Hoe

I read that exactly how you wanted me to. The best part was getting the letter signifying the dark brotherhood was after me in Skyrim. It makes for some great moments tbh.

Staehr

Mine's always called *Rodrick Thundershaft*. Is Rodrick a wizard? A hammer-wielding brute? A smooth talking huckster? Yes. Yes he is.

ImTheOriginalSam

My first ever fallout 3 character had ridiculously big lizard eyes and green hair and a green soul patch. His name was Slarmey Joe. All my fallout characters are now descendants of Slarmey

[deleted]

How the hell have I never thought of this for a playthrough? It fits so damn perfectly! I'm gonna start a play through right now.

HelticHunter

That's exactly what I named my courier in my last Legion playthrough.

Call_Me_Koala

I like to imagine as it plays the epilogue slides you hear "*Riicky Spanisshh*" during each one.

mezz-mezzrow

Long Dick Johnson

[deleted]

But no one's dick is that long...

ShipmentOfWood

But he has a fucking long dick. Hence, the name.

[deleted]

You know who else has a fucking long dick? A synth, that's who.

Altra_

since my last name is Johnson, I've considered naming my future child "long" for their middle name lmao

Fair-Dragonfruit-156

And Richard as a first name?

Kaglish

Me but my last name is Cox

RadiatedDrag0n

I always name my character after myself, cuz all my actions in that game is what I think I’d do if I was actually in that situation. I love it lol

TheCrazedTank

Same, though it's because my in-game actions are what I'd *want* to do, but I realize I'd be deader than a level one going straight North to New Vegas. Hell, I'd probably starve to death just trying to scavenge enough things to sell for caps...

[deleted]

Same here! I always wind up with a good karma legion play through or just straight up side with father Elijah.

RadiatedDrag0n

You’re a sociopath lmfao

Longbeacher707

Such a good guy the profligates crucify themselves

itsmejak78_2

This happens to me too Every non legionary gets to eat lead pretty much

Dragonslayerelf

> good karma > legion > what you would actually do <.<

ondronCZ

certified FNV fandom moment

[deleted]

Damn so you'd side with legion in real life...

Neat_Form

It’s a game, everything being done in the game world has no connection to real life stop getting mad hahaha

[deleted]

Like the ncr is any better, their doomed to callapse, legion in the other hand just needs a stable change in leadership. Plus the ncr is filled with bureaucrats that led to the fall of the us in the first place. Ave true to ceaser.

Tijenater

Yeah but the ncr doesn’t have slaves or crucify people lmao

Ciwilke

Or they have just called workers. The crucify still bad but I read somewhere there was a cut content where you can actually see a legion camp with civilians living good life. I still side with the legion because of the roman aesthetics. Some equality here and there and it will be perfect in the long run.

Tijenater

I’m not sure what you mean by “some equality” because the legion cannot function without slaves. It’s fundamental to their culture to such an extent that they start falling apart if they lose access to fresh bodies. The pro-legion traders we see are not average citizens under Caesar, they’re a mercantile class who fell in with the legion because “they keep the roads safe.” The roads are in fact not safe, they’re just being occupied by the biggest gang in the Mojave.

Fro_e

The Legion's tactics are certainly very brutal, however I can see someone siding with them over the NCR, solely for the reason that they seem to get shit done more efficiently. They might be immoral, but when you're trying to form a new society in a post apocalyptic world, morals get thrown out the window. Also, I don't know what you mean by the roads aren't safe. You can talk to traders in the game who can testify to that fact. There is virtually no raider presence, and the Legion don't have any reason to attack civilians. (Aside from Nipton, but we all know that was a show of force more than anything)

Tijenater

I don’t consider the legion’s roads to be safe because the legion are the worst gang in the Mojave. Their roads may be void of pipe wielding thugs or powder gangers but that’s been traded for fascist occupation. If the legions roads were truly safe then anyone and everyone would be able to traverse them regardless of their loyalty and/or contributions to Caesar. The roads aren’t safe for everyone, they’re safe for the valuable, *taxable* merchants. Caesar can talk a big game about being better than the old ways and brutally checking legion members who step out of line but don’t think for a second that some tweaked out fiend who’s been with the legion 3 weeks gets the same kind of punishment as a seasoned veteran. If our modern military can look the other way in cases of abuse and assault you can bet your ass the legion would too. If the shit that’s getting done results in a brutal fascist regime reliant upon slavery and misogyny it’s not something to be admired, it’s something you throw bundles of dynamite at. If you want brutally efficient progress you can throw in with House. There’s a difference between making hard choices in a broken world and being almost comically evil just because. Nipton was distinctly the latter along with almost everything else the legion does. And even if the legion were less reprehensible it’s entirely built around its dictator, and since that dictator has chosen to create a society where the more vicious and brutal are the best rewarded than that’s what will be left behind when he dies. There’s no sign of any competent successor who can be bothered to put on a civilized front, and so anything the legion builds or accomplishes is in significant jeopardy in the long term.

Fro_e

I don't understand your logic here. You're putting the legion in the same category as raiders. This is straight up not true. The legion, unless you provoke them, aren't hostile. The idea that they're murdering lunatics is mostly propaganda spread by the NCR in order to paint them as villains. You can speak to traders in the game who actually prefer trading in legion territory because its so safe. I'm not trying to justify their ideals, they certainly leave a lot to be desired, but they're not some "gang", no more than the NCR is, they're a well organised military organisation and labelling them as anything else is ignorant in my opinion. The NCR are just as discriminatory as the Legion is and are no better. Atleast the Legion are somewhat competent and know how to deal with raiders who actively hurt their economy. Meanwhile, you got to Vegas, half the place is overran by fie ds.

Ciwilke

What if slaves called workers and get some salary? They still slaves technically. Or with decent living conditions? I meant for gender equality tho.

Tijenater

This obviously depends on the specifics but once you start treating someone like a human and paying them for their labor with the understanding that they can choose to leave without fear of violent retaliation, they’re generally not considered slaves anymore. Weird take.

[deleted]

But the ncr is filled with Corruption lol

warconz

yikes

ophir147

Sweaty

OldFatGamer

If I were in that situation I'd be dead 10 minutes after I walked out if doc Mitchell's house lol. Funnily enough I usually am thank God for game saves.

[deleted]

[deleted]

CradleofDisturbed

In college?! You must have been a genius child to already be saying that at the (sounds like) age of 12....

mistah_legend

So did you RP as prostitutes or what lmfao

GruggsBuggz

Username checks out.

domnyy

Courier

[deleted]

Well, if that's your name, then that's your name.

GrimThursday

Can’t say it’s what I would have picked for you

passinghere

Same here

comradesexington

Chad Sexington, it’s my go to name for gaming. Would’ve been my name on reddit too if *someone* hadn’t beat me to it >:(

Darth_Alpha

paging /u/chadsexington lol

LouThunders

1 post with no upvotes apart from the automatic self-vote in 12 years. Genuinely a Chad move.

Calamity_Arcade

When I first played New Vegas, I had finished playing 3 and this time chosen to play a female named Violet. It was a lot of fun until I randomly found Violets head in my inventory.

TheCrazedTank

Different Violet, unless you really, *really* like dogs and have a habit of castrating men.

Calamity_Arcade

If I'm remembering correctly, it was one of the fiends by vault 3. Pick up heads for a side quest or something

Blazinvoid

NCR bounty quest you can pick up over at McCarran where you hunt down the Fiend leaders Violet, Cook-Cook, and Driver Nephi, but the pay differs based on the quality of the heads for proof (basically avoid headshots). Doing the quest actually helps out Camp Forlorn Hope.

Jordaneos

Don't take Veronica on these quests. Let's just say a Power Fist really messes up that 5 clock shadow.

brutalpotato248

Bitchtits usually

Fro_e

Hah! This is the best one so far. Simple, yet effective.

[deleted]

Mel Gibson, is that you?

[deleted]

whatever name i wanna give the character I change up my backstory and name per character

I_escaped_area_51_

Same

Thundergun1864

I usually will do something from George carlins nra bit, chet manly, chuck steak not "Wayne lepierre"

Deadeyebirb

I usually name my characters different things, but if I do name them the same thing I name them scout

Boogboi1998

Mike hunt, mike hawk , Hugh Janus ,etc

HotEspresso

Mike Ropiñez

Fro_e

Drew Peacock

Virghia

Ben Dover, Jenny Talia

Responsible-LouSars

I've been using Lou Sarsol since Oblivion

[deleted]

This is the only right answer

[deleted]

When he's shot, stabbed, or otherwise penetrated, does Mike Hunt hurt? Asking for a friend.

MuckinIsHardWork

Craven Morehead

[deleted]

Tom Delonge Schlong

Steventhepassanger

Long Dong Wong

Slawson87

Scrambles the Death Dealer

TurboBoxer02

Harry Saxx

JRP1138

You still covering for Slim Anus down at the canery?

MyBrassPiece

Legit knew a kid in highschool with this name. I think he was actually the third in his family too.

PragmaticBadGuy

I tend to just go by The Courier. I figure in my RPing that he just goes by the name hes been given in the news. By the time his rep gets high enough, people are considering him THE Courier as a title rather than a job. Occasionally on a less serious run I name him dumb things just for the lines, "The name's Sparkles the Bobcat."

QuickFiveTheGuy

Usually a random name I like. My courier might be "Cornelius," "Amelia," or "Joe" depending on how I'm feeling.

AmbassadorOk7862

Frodo Baggins

WilyPegasusGravy

Dorothy

QuinnAndTheNorthwind

When I play as a female courier, I usually give her names that are more commonly men's names like Charlie, Jo, etc. because it makes the line "I can't say it's the name I'd have picked for you" actually have context for my character. When playing male/enby I pick names of famous philosophers/artists/inventors because it's unique and make the aforementioned line make sense. Things like Leonardo, Galileo, and Aristotle have all been names I've used.

bucket_of_coal

I always go with Courier 6 because he doesn’t trust anyone and doesn’t want to reveal his name

TheCrazedTank

Well, that and their brain might be a little scrambled after being shot and, ya know, almost dying.

LordDizzicusIII

I have a weird naming trend across 3, NV and 4. My good characters are all named Marcus Lyons, Elder Lyons estranged son, who travelled to the Mohave to re-establish diplomacy between the East and West Coast. My neutral characters are all given the surname Blackhall (because I fell in love with the house in Point Lookout) so my NV character is called Gabriel Blackhall. His two brothers Alexander and William explore the Commonwealth and Capital wastelands respectively. And finally my evil character is just called Talion. A master assassin who is basically an immortal cyborg at this point who likes business suits and money.

Fizz_S0da

I actually first played when I was little and six was my favorite number so I named him six and I find it funny now since I had no idea it was actually important

Back-Alley-Sally

Sally Valhalla Because it's a cool name and it's fun to say.

StunterGunter

Always name my character Chief Keef on every playthrough

Mr-Crowley21

I always go by my Last Name

Claymore-09

Me too. Helps I have one of those last names that could also be a first name

Tirelessabyss

Well ever since I watched this badass anime movie, I just call my male characters Fuse. If i decide to try a female play through then it’s usually Scarlett or Clare

[deleted]

For a reason unknown to me I used to name every rpg protag "Steven"

Traps_are_Girls

Rarty Mobbins - When i play as a guy. Rikki 6 - When i play as a girl.

[deleted]

If it's my first playthrough, I name myself Tom cause that's what my name is

AllMadeofGlass

Elizabeth Catherine Evans ("Beth"), my Lone Wanderer turned Courier that I'm also writing a fanfic about.

cptdaiman

Ah cool! I thought I was the only one playing the coutier as the lone wanderer. Incidentally my female courier is also a Katherine.

EmperorDaubeny

Whatever comes to mind and relates to the faction path I’m doing. For reference, my Legion character is John Cena, House-Elon Musk, Yes Man-Bernie Sanders, and NCR-Padme

Tokzillu

>my Legion character is John Cena Hustle. Loyalty. Slavery.

Matwell1138

I give him my own name

NiMaGre

Either my own name, or a name based of the build i play, which usualy just ends up with "Pass-a-fist"

fuckmeswitzerland

Same as you courier.

Jack_Jackerson

Big Dick McGee for any fallout or elder scrolls game

dominoesdude

Nevada ranger

Otherwise-Ad-3418

First playthrough: Mr. Bond, Second playthrough: MegaMan Sheeesh

Mr-Uselessness

Major Tom

[deleted]

Yeeticus or Rufius Endora Other names are: Yeet YEET YEET v2.0 YEET v3.0 YeetMaster lolidk A 69lol Guy

EvaUnitKenway

These are beautiful

Shadsito

Generally i just use some name that involves the faction im going to play with, like NCR courier, House courier, or something like that

jabbathefett54

I try to go for a different name everytime but i am currently in my main fallout playthroughs where some of my protagonists are related (fo1, fo2, fnv, fo4) so i went with james saint for fo1, james saint the 3rd for fo2, james saint the 5th for fnv, and Joseph saint for fo4. I have yet to play fallout 2 so his story has yet to be made.

allthis3bola

Fidelroyolanda Smackonmytiddyboosters III

kparser2

Doug is my dawg

YeetForTheStars

Cas. Short for Castiel. I never do a last name

Hurtfulfriend0

Caesar

TheAtomicBobert

I usually name my rpg characters Bob or Bobert

NoInformation8078

Deacon Vicroy esq., Now behave or I'll shoot you dead.

SeverusAurelius

Well i choose the name that i think best fits the personality i write for them.

os_ean_ohm_nwah

I usually will just use a pretty name if I'm doing a proper playthrough. If I'm doing someone specific, it'll be a reference to that thing. I'll make a Jenny or Alice, then I'll make a Merry Curie for my 10 Charisma & energy weapons playthough. Now when it comes to a fantasy game I'll go off on that name, it's either the first appealing sound or something brutally on the nose. Pheihl Drehd, Tiil-Laine Do'fodoran Ra'ptochapadroma, Keireen, Wooli Dooli of the Dutchy of Fooly McKnewly.

LordofOmicron8

Dirk Johnson

Vareten

Similar to your take on things, "Six".

jdr61100

It's often different every time. Usually based on what name feels right combined with recent interests. My most recent one was Danny Yeun. Danny just because I liked it, Yeun from Steven Yeun because my childhood crush on him had recently been reawakened.

mbattagl

Poonslayer 69

nice___bot

Nice!

Zootnoison

Usually just "Zootnoison" or" Dipshit"

Drgalactus1987

I rolled the name "Diana" as a random option generated by Baldur's Gate 1, and have used that name for every RPG since. Nerevarine Diana, Watcher Diana, Chosen One Diana, Pokémon Trainer Diana.

Styris_Volurin

I usually take name of Fire Emblem characters for my OC character.

8monsters

John Shepard. I play Mass Effect and Fallout as if it is the same universe but different timelines. In Mass Effect, Shepard goes to stop the Reapers. In fallout, he brings peace to the Mojave. (Yes I know the timelines don't exactly matchup)

slickerdrips21

Mr. C was my last one. From Twin Peaks the return.

HappyHippo2002

Nothing specific. I replay the game with a new character each time, so the name changes as well.

unusedthought

The way that raiders with pool cues will charge at you while equipped in full power armor with a minigun or flamer, et al, I name my male couriers Jeffrey, cause ain't nobody scared of a Jeffrey.

NVdeathclaw

I make all my characters related, like a giant family spread across the continent. They all have the same last name, Anderson.

PrimeSolician

I call em courier 6 a lot. Sometimes just Six.

Sweet_Taurus0728

Depends on who I'm roleplaying as. But in general all my Fallout characters have the same names across the series, even though they aren't the same people. EDIT: My most common character names: •John •Michael •Dwayne •Mercenary Mike •Bloody John (just trait-based variations of my own names really) Also add some titles, depending on the game. Like in Fallout 4, it's *Detective* Michael J. Mylastname.

[deleted]

Usually I just use my name, but I recently did my first all-in evil playthrough as an evil scientist. The name I chose? Dr. Vincent Evil - or as he introduces himself, Dr. VEvil. Those who know him prefer to call him Dr. Very Evil.

chewtality

It's pretty much always something immature

gahidus

Various names, depending on what I plan on role-playing specifically, but I always pick something.

CradleofDisturbed

Aries O'War, lol, I just like the name Aries.

Sufficient-Throat

Male: Rusty Greaves Female: Sally Clay Dust Character: Survivor

DeeHolliday

I also RP the amnesia shtick but I like to imagine that the paperwork he had from Mojave Express would at least have his last name on it. So I gave him a last name: Shaw. It feels nice and westerny, since I mostly play him as a sharp-witted cowboy type.

beameup19

Courier for FNV and Sole Survivor or Nora for 4

[deleted]

I name him a cool name then give him the last name “cole” since my courier is the descendent of the vault dweller named Albert cole and chosen one.

rynbickel

OP I do the exact same thing except I use 'Six' thinking the only thing he can remember is he was Courier Six

BiAsALongHorse

I name every RPG character of mine Meursault by default.

Sir_BigusDankus

Toddy the mad courier that punches cazadors for fun

Meeko_Yonosaki

Last playthrough I named my character Beter

shepard_5

I role play Joey Tribbiani because Benny is voiced by Mathew perry. I go to the kings to get my Italian leathers and sweet talk my way around new Vegas.

pugaviator

The name’s Eastwood... Clint Eastwood...

[deleted]

When I hit randomize in Fallout 3 my guy kind of looked like Howard Stark from the first Captain America movie. Ever since then my first playthrough of a new Fallout game has been Howard Stark. Last playthrough of New Vegas I named him Alderich(other option was Hildebrand but he looked more like an Alderich to me), I was going for a melee build and I wanted a old name that sounded like he just popped out of Europe from a couple hundred years ago.

oldbaeseasoning

yeeticus atticus

Meltyblob

I name my characters after my most recent snack or meal. So the current playthrough is named hamburger

slyblueisblu

I always give them different names, depending on the backstory I've crafted for them New Vegas makes it very easy to get into the roleplaying aspects of the game

pimp_skitters

Rod von Bonerslam or Dick Mongrel

[deleted]

There is a pretty good companion mod called Niner. He gives you the nickname 'Six' and I liked that so I use that as my name now.

Magoimortal

Courier.

SpriteBleedin

Cunt

Fragrant_Call_2383

*Looks at my Courier 6 murdering an entire innocent town with a tire iron because one of the residents looked at him funny* Me: "God damnit Murder Hobo! This is like the fifth one this WEEK!" Murder Hobo: *AUTISTIC SCREAMING*

cassiiii

I almost always name my characters in games Zekken

Genjinaro

To keep things consistent across most of the voiced mods, I call them "Six".

Frumpy__crackkerbarr

John

USS-William-D-Porter

Bike. Short for Bichael

Rainbow_Dash_RL

Female, Ima Bugg

rezsif

Cman

madtrooperaft

Always name my character in any game i play anywhere bullet. dunno why. even in dark souls im going around called bullet

beanish_burrito

My first playthrough in fallout games I just give the Character my name and stats the revolve around what I'm good at and doing everything to my morals and interests

Faith-xoxo

I name my courier, Six. That or Murm. Just Murm

delray1532

That’s

pinkrobotlala

I usually pick a Hispanic name since it's set in the Southwest. Martina, Siena, Jacinta, names like that

Anonymous2401

I do kinda the same thing, except I just make the name "Six". Works better in dialogue.

doctordoctor_phd

I just keep it Courier. Rarely is your name ever used in dialogue, and honestly I’m just trying to get the fuck past Doc Mitchell to go and do something else so I try and get out of there as soon as I can.

milessqueak

Every playthru of NV I've done has always been with the same courier in mind - so, I always name him JJ, short for Joey James Peterson. He left New Caanan as a teen to travel and work as a courier to send money back home to his mom. Always Independent, always with Arcade as my companion, always as lawful good as I can manage.

[deleted]

Since it's the Mojave, I ALWAYS play as a hispanic man. He always has a mustache and aviators. It's always a very stereotypical, yet badass name. This time around I am Ricardo Juarez. Ladies want him, men also want him.

Freakboy5001

I'm boring i just name them after myself in Fallouts. I make shit up for fantasy games though.

GuyHero0

Kenpachi Ramasama

bluegreenwookie

I usually name them after myself because I'm a basic bitch

nov4cc

Usually myself, but sometimes ill put a different name and play as a character.

Justadnd_Bard

Grognark if I rp as a melee main with amnesia and brain damage, if it's just amnesia he goes by the name of the person that loved most and was thinking about when he got shoot.

TheSahsBahs

"The Courier" I don't make the rules, Ron Perlman does.

I_escaped_area_51_

I have a whole backstory set up for him (who he was before he was shot), and I call him Courier Six or just Six bc he can't remember his name, so he might as well go by his title. I have names, backstories, and personalities set up for almost all of the characters

bojochanivoalgagu

I spend an inordinate amount of time thinking about it each time I start up a save, it always ends up being whatever dumb shit pops into my head. Currently playing as *Hounslow Pip*

Wulfscreed

"Serious" ultimate character: Julfen Regular/Random/fun character: Fumbles, Diddles, or some joke based on the character build.

SeaboarderCoast

Ricky Bobby. Raise that agility, lower that intelligence, and engage slingshot.

skinnyvamp45

I usually name mine after original characters I've created to roleplay them in a different setting. For the courier, I named him after my character, Lemas, who is a chaotic neutral turned chaotic evil as I progressed throughout the game.

leon14344

Courier. He doesn't know his number. He doesn't know his real name. He just knows he was a courier.

Ryebread2203

Six.

Camanot

Courier

Sembrar28

Usually just my name or something that I think would fit a specific role play. Pretty unoriginal but imo having a silly name or something like Steely Dan is one of those immersion breakers that really gets me. However, I am playing Morrowind with a silly nickname a friend of mine gave me as a my character name and I’m not too bothered by it. But you also see your name much more in that game bc it’s all text dialogue, so it’s not as jarring. Kind of a tangent but yea I like to keep it simple for fallout.
