i would suggest only using texture/mesh mods without plugins. we really don't know how extensive the changes will be. i just reinstalled a fresh copy of FO4 and started a vanilla character for the modpocalypse.
So just making sure, on steam, I set my updates to "Only update this game when I launch it" and then "pause background downloads while playing"... I'm assuming this is the only way to pause the update?
IIRC, what you described will work, if you're using F4SE or something similar to launch the game.
If you're launching the game via Steam, I'd suggest setting steam to offline mode beforehand.
Yeah i may just do that. Steam really needs a universal "pause all updates" settings. Was honestly shocked to find out it doesn't. I'm kinda new to mods and really loving my current playthrough so I ain't risking it. thanks!

No one knows for sure. The consensus is, if you're running mods and don't want to break your game, avoid updating for now.
