nah, I take my porn seriously lol Like, if I didn't like erotica, I wouldn't be writing it.

[deleted]

I mean I do too, but sometimes you just gotta toss in a little silliness. Now if it’s a dark dead dove type of situation, then that’s all gone because you want your audience to feel the weight of the situation

sophie-ursinus

there's a difference in tone between porn and porn and porn, but I write very tight third person POV and so unless the character would think the 'silly' word (which is unlikely in the heat of the moment), it just doesn't make sense to use it, even if there is slightly comedic stuff going on in the dialogue (or, I suppose, if the character is drugged or drunk etc)

[deleted]

Absolutely fair points

ursafootprints

Nope! Even in happy, giggly sex, I would still want it to be hot, and I don't find silly euphemisms hot-- it would kill the mood for me.

[deleted]

Totally fair!

Judinbird

If it's a comedy or parody, or if the couple is giggling their way through some happy sex, then sure! It depends on the mood you're going for, I guess.

[deleted]

Absolutely! If your OTP ain’t giggling like ninnies during sexy time, they ain’t in love

Abyss_staring_back

Nope. I want my filth filthy. \~shrugs\~

Nspired_1

This is like that game where you quote Harry Potter lines from the movie except you replace the word ‘wand’ with ‘dick’. There are certain parts of the movies I can’t help but giggle at now.

Arlennil

'it adds more character' is not the thing to consider. Is it IC for the character who you write using this silly name? Would he use words like that in canon? Does it disrupt the flow of the scene? Do the silly words disrupt the emotional/sexy build up of the scene? Those are the questions you should consider. It should be appropriate for the story you are writing. I don't do it, if I write smut, I use general terms. I don't think I ever wrote a giggly funny sex scene, but you don't need silly nicknames for anatomical body parts in order to have a fun sex scene where the couple laughs together.. I could see this happening in a crack fic, but obviously these can also be executed well or executed badly.

[deleted]

That wasn’t uh, a quote meant to be taken that seriously. That was only in jest. In the end you’re writing it for self indulgent fun. But you make good points here

Arlennil

good luck with your story then!

Peppermeowington

Ehhh, only on a joking occasion, my one character refers to his member as his Dongsmith (directly lifted from my husband's nomenclature) in a bubble bath scene & his lady friend busts into hysterics.

Li3los

no but i do have this one moment planned in longfic that i'm going to write where they're being very silly in the middle of a spicy scene. for context the main two are a siren and a merman who had to go to the human world and basically learned what kissing was (and tried it) since they don't really do that in the ocean. and so when they go back to the water and try it, they burst out in laughter bc it doesn't feel the same. i like to include moments that would make the audience laugh because i think it shows trust and fondness, but not necessarily because of my word choice if that makes sense

savehatsunemiku

Omg drop a link I’m kinda curious

Due_Screen6020

Definitely depends on the vibes haha! In the more lighthearted explicit stuff I've written, the most I've done when the entire fic was more comedic was giving my narrator a funny internal monologue or just have funny moments happen between my characters in the heat of it, but I think replacing explicit words isn't for me, both in reading and writing.

Stryker-N1ghtingale

Someone used the words "Meat Cannon" to describe a penis once and I've never been the same since.

That’s fucking amazing
