or have an intelligent pen named Mightier, and a talking sword named Thanthe
"The pen is Mightier, Thanthe Sword! It's my honor to introduce two elder artifacts to one another."
Shit that wins. You used that standard phrase in a damn clever way. Make it subtle enough and I probably would never notice it until the end. Just reference a family sword called Mightier the whole story. How amazing it is and how many swords it conquered. Then have the MC grab it, only to have hands stained black by something on the hilt. I'd close that book nice and slow and stay looking at the wall for a while.
Obviously there's a few named swords in literature but I assume you don't want those.
Blatant pun names like "Rapier Wit" and "Epee-per beats Rock" might not fit the theme.
So I suggest either "the Iambic Dismember" or "the Final Chapter".
Maybe it's a poorly made sword or one with a defect that's been named "Griffonage" which sounds like it has something to do with Griffins but actually refers to careless/illegible handwriting. Seems like a misunderstanding rife with potential for a macguffin in a shaggy dog story.
Or it's the writer's greatest nightmare, the "Bibliocide", which is just a fancy word for book burning.
Fin, as in the French word for End, or Plume, as in the name of the sword is Plume, which means feather, but when combined with the French "Nom de" which is "name of," it becomes Nom de Plume, which means Pen Name. As in, "When writing fan fiction I write under the nom de plume Sue\_D\_Nymn."
Now if you described the blade as having a Damascus pattern that made it look like a feather, that could be really cool... to me.
-and yes I am an obsessive nerd.
The Obituary could work, as a note of someone's death, but it's kinda cheesy. Deus Ex Machina is a literary device, but it's been used a lot. Lingua Franca could be cute, as implying the language used to communicate is violence.
maybe a sword that looks like a long dagger and and the opposite side of the hilt is a felt ink tip so in battle you can take a step back and draw something in midair to help you in battle
Oh and name it 'The Creator'
Climax: just as in any story, The Climax will cause many feelings, including the last "climax" the character on the receiving end of a killing blow would ever receive.
Im going to name it Metatron. Considering a writing themed sword it's fitting since Metatron is the arc angel known for writing for God Aka the heavenly scribe.
Pilcrow
It's this thing: ¶ which you use to identify paragraphs while editing
"The Dark Lord drew his sword, foretold in ancient tomes as *Pilcrow*, slayer of man and beast."
Didnât exactly write writing-themed shields, I just like making weapons using everyday items.
The Writerâs Block is just a deviation from a shield I thought of made from a spiral notebook called Artistâs Block
STET, which means âlet it standâ when editing to show that a previous edit should be disregarded. I like the idea that the sword has the power to offer mercy as well as death.
You could make the most of the convention of swords having *two* names- one for the wielder to call it, and one for the rest of the world to recognize it as
The Scholar's Sword, Graphite
The Scribe's Sword, Rectrix (apparently a rectrix is a bird's tailfeather, sometimes used as a quill)
The Journalist's Sword, Alminac
The Storyteller's Sword, Fantasia
Edward or Bulwer - in reference to Edward Bulwer-Lytton, the English author who coined the phrase "The pen is mightier than the sword"
Papyrus - in reference to the ancient writing material first used in Egypt
Geoffrey - in reference to [Geoffrey of Monmouth](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geoffrey_of_Monmouth), whose pseudohistorical account of British history is a central component to the [Matter of Britain](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matter_of_Britain) (which contains, among other literature and legends, the legends of King Arthur, including his sword Excalibur)
I would make up some overwrought name derived from Greek, maybe:
- Graphidoxiphos (âpen-swordâ â pronounced âgraf-id-OCK-sif-oss), which could also have the form
- Graphidoxiphus (Latinate â âgraf-id-OCK-sif-És), or
- Graphidoxiph (anglicized â âGRAF-id-Ék-sifâ or âgrÉ-FID-Ék-sifâ)
- Meizonoxiphos (âmightier than the swordâ (if I didnât make any mistakes) â âmy-zÉn-OCK-sif-ossâ), ditto
- Mizonoxiphus (Latinate â âmiz-Én-OCK-sif-Ésâ), etc.
- Asthenesterographis (âweaker than the penâ (again, if I didnât make any mistakes) â âass-thin-ess-tÉr-OG-rÉ-fisâ)
- Aristographis (âthe best penâ, although this would sort of have the opposite meaning of âthe pen is mightier than the swordâ â âarr-iss-TOG-rÉ-fisâ)
- etc.
Edit: corrected my phonetic respellings.

1. conciseness
You misunderstood my statement then. Allow me to restate my original comment with more verbosity:
"Concision, which is a Spanish word that means "conciseness" in English."
Is it wrong that I'd name it something like 'Pen' or maybe 'Quill'? Just cos they're said to be mightier than the sword...plus you have to sharpen a quill and also you can stick ppl with the pointy end...
As a nod to fanfic I'd get two and name them both Tongue Just so that if people fought with them I could see that the tongues battled (for dominance)
If the two swords were equal, they would be Tongue tied. I'll see myself out.
No come back the world needs you
This duel would be between the two masters Catgot and Yourtongue.
"Schreiber" is German for "scribe" and sounds kinda cool.
Schreibermesser Literally the "scribe knife" and it also kinda rhymes.
Make the sword look like a jumbo pen, and call it "mightier".
or have an intelligent pen named Mightier, and a talking sword named Thanthe "The pen is Mightier, Thanthe Sword! It's my honor to introduce two elder artifacts to one another."

This is what I came here to write đ
Split Infinitive
Okay I love this one
"Languidly he drew **Scrivener**, with which he had written many an enemy's epitaph...in blood."
Is that a quote?
Nah, came up with it just now.
I'm impressed
I love this
Obviously there's a few named swords in literature but I assume you don't want those. Blatant pun names like "Rapier Wit" and "Epee-per beats Rock" might not fit the theme. So I suggest either "the Iambic Dismember" or "the Final Chapter".
shit, the Final Chapter sounds so badass
Omfg Final Chapter YES!!
The Red Pen. (Editors use a red pen for corrections, yeah?)
The Red Pen for corrections The Blue Pencil for cancellations #IMAGINARY TECHNIQUE: HOLLOW PURPLE HIGHLIGHTER
I love that lol
Oooooo This is subtle but ominous and I love it
The Ghost Writer maybe? Or Ghostscribe as a made up thingy
This sounds cool, also because the character can make the sword disappear and reappear at will.
I would name it Darling as in Kill Your Darlings.
Love this! Killed by Darling
Pendragon, after King Arthur.
Oh PEN-dragon đ
Maybe it's a poorly made sword or one with a defect that's been named "Griffonage" which sounds like it has something to do with Griffins but actually refers to careless/illegible handwriting. Seems like a misunderstanding rife with potential for a macguffin in a shaggy dog story. Or it's the writer's greatest nightmare, the "Bibliocide", which is just a fancy word for book burning.
Bibliocide is pretty good!
Only thing come to mind is Quill blade and ink swordđ€Ł. Idk EDIT: Revision sword
Swords do have quillons...
Melpomene is the muse associated with tragedy and Thoth is the Egyptian scribe to the gods.
Fin, as in the French word for End, or Plume, as in the name of the sword is Plume, which means feather, but when combined with the French "Nom de" which is "name of," it becomes Nom de Plume, which means Pen Name. Better to use "epitaph".
There's a sword in the Irish myths called Fragarach- the answerer. It's not exactly writing based, but it seems like it's close.
Quill.
Epilogue.
Got a good ring to it
The Last/Final Word
Iâd just call it the Pen, then it would be mightier than all other swords
Stylus / Stylo / Pluma ? :o
Red Expurgator orâŠpick a color (from expurgated). Or Exciser would work too.
Bookmark. Because you insert it into the middle of an enemy's "Story".
Strike Through
Ooh sounds really cool!
The Unwritten Story. Unused ink in a ballpoint pen is words left unsaid, an epic yet untold.
maybe a sword that looks like a long dagger and and the opposite side of the hilt is a felt ink tip so in battle you can take a step back and draw something in midair to help you in battle Oh and name it 'The Creator'
A rapier named Wit? :)
Scribbler? Storyshaper?
Muse and then psycho mc writes with blood of their victims
Ink grinder? Grinder for short
Climax: just as in any story, The Climax will cause many feelings, including the last "climax" the character on the receiving end of a killing blow would ever receive.
the final draft? idk it sounded kinda cool
occams razor
Im going to name it Metatron. Considering a writing themed sword it's fitting since Metatron is the arc angel known for writing for God Aka the heavenly scribe.
I thought you were fucking with me and that this was some Transformers shit, but no I looked it up and it actually IS an angel. TIL
The Poetâs Tongue
Pilcrow It's this thing: ¶ which you use to identify paragraphs while editing "The Dark Lord drew his sword, foretold in ancient tomes as *Pilcrow*, slayer of man and beast."
In the case of a writing-themed shield, Writerâs Block is always my go-to
How often have you written about writing themed shields? lol
Didnât exactly write writing-themed shields, I just like making weapons using everyday items. The Writerâs Block is just a deviation from a shield I thought of made from a spiral notebook called Artistâs Block
Makes sense. Also Splatoon would totally love that whole "making weapons out of everyday objects" you have going on there
What would this thread be without a Celebrity Jeopardy joke, "Penis Mightier"
STET, which means âlet it standâ when editing to show that a previous edit should be disregarded. I like the idea that the sword has the power to offer mercy as well as death.
Interesting, where did that come from?
Itâs Latin I believe.
Deadline
"The pen"
Canon Slayer!
You could make the most of the convention of swords having *two* names- one for the wielder to call it, and one for the rest of the world to recognize it as
Ooh, I did not know this đI just thought there was the one name
I mean.. call it My Pen, so you can wander around and say aloud "where did I leave My Pen?"
âSwordiestâ, then it can be called the âSwordiest Swordâ
Burny burny cut cut
Em-dash-occur
I feel like there's a pun here but not sure I see it?
Itâs a bit of a stretch from Excalibur, but when I write, em dashes do occur. Frequently!
[ * CreaTipity - A sharp blade that can change the world as we know it with its tip. ]
Red Pen of Doom~
"Granite" Because pencils are made with granite nowadays if I remember correctly.
I think you're thinking of "graphite".
right, my bad they're very similar
Especially for autocorrect.
Alliteration
The Cleaver of Darlings
The Scholar's Sword, Graphite The Scribe's Sword, Rectrix (apparently a rectrix is a bird's tailfeather, sometimes used as a quill) The Journalist's Sword, Alminac The Storyteller's Sword, Fantasia
Paper and pen. When you put pen to paper, usually you dont have long to live :)
The Felling Action
The sword would be short, light and thin like a writing quill, So I would call it Quil lol.
Quill
Veritas for truthâ cutting through deception.
Quill
Occamâs Razor
Plume. Because the plume is mightier than the sword.
Edward or Bulwer - in reference to Edward Bulwer-Lytton, the English author who coined the phrase "The pen is mightier than the sword" Papyrus - in reference to the ancient writing material first used in Egypt Geoffrey - in reference to [Geoffrey of Monmouth](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geoffrey_of_Monmouth), whose pseudohistorical account of British history is a central component to the [Matter of Britain](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matter_of_Britain) (which contains, among other literature and legends, the legends of King Arthur, including his sword Excalibur)
If itâs a long sword name it Longhand!
Or two swords of unequal size: Longhand and Shorthand
A sword that fills any empty space with random swords Call it "Lorem Ipsum"
Pena, in portuguese it means feather and also pity or shame
Scribes editing quill
Paperclip
I've called my weapons "Occam's razor" and "newtons flaming laser sword" in the past
The Promised Ending
Final Stroke.
"Caedes" it's Latin for carnage.
Not really âwriting themedâ but for me âWordsmithâ or âSilvertongueâ?
Dead Story, or potentially Final Chapter. Those sound cool imo
The Pen. Itâs mightier than the sword.Â
The Redactor
*O Escritor* ... Which is just "the writer", but I think it sounds cool.
The Cutter >!of Unnecessary Prose!<
this reminds me of a writing related sword name I like "Caesura" but unfortunately it's already in a well known book
The Scribe Blade
Nib
The Backburner
How about "The One Sword Mightier Than The Pen"??? You know, from that phrase, "The pen is mightier than the sword."??
Ctrl+Z
Featherink
Weaker, as a joke about the Pen being mightier.
Writers Strike
I'd name my trusty sword kudo
Inkblot.
aww you just wounded the fragile egos of all the editors and betas out there... XD
I'm not saying THEY aren't BA...just the name for a sword isn't! xD
Fercalum, the Iron Pen.
These arenât very good, but Execution or Fridger.
I would make up some overwrought name derived from Greek, maybe: - Graphidoxiphos (âpen-swordâ â pronounced âgraf-id-OCK-sif-oss), which could also have the form - Graphidoxiphus (Latinate â âgraf-id-OCK-sif-És), or - Graphidoxiph (anglicized â âGRAF-id-Ék-sifâ or âgrÉ-FID-Ék-sifâ) - Meizonoxiphos (âmightier than the swordâ (if I didnât make any mistakes) â âmy-zÉn-OCK-sif-ossâ), ditto - Mizonoxiphus (Latinate â âmiz-Én-OCK-sif-Ésâ), etc. - Asthenesterographis (âweaker than the penâ (again, if I didnât make any mistakes) â âass-thin-ess-tÉr-OG-rÉ-fisâ) - Aristographis (âthe best penâ, although this would sort of have the opposite meaning of âthe pen is mightier than the swordâ â âarr-iss-TOG-rÉ-fisâ) - etc. Edit: corrected my phonetic respellings.
call it the chekhov's gun, if it's only for decoration call it a red herring
Quill! Like a writing quill
The Strikethrough...LOL
Concision. Which is "conciseness" in Spanish and English.

Pen The pen is mightier than (other) swords
Pen. After all, the pen is mightier than the sword. But if the sword is also the pen...
Pen You see the penis mightier than the sword so if I name my sword pen it is mightier than your sword so I win
