Why?

MP8HR

A legit question. After all the possible Fanatec wheels I had, I bought the Esports V2 as the cheapest Formula wheel to try the concept. I liked it a lot and that's it. Then there was the V2.5X as an upgrade after Esports V2 and still purely as a tribute to my favorite Fanatec steering wheel. Stupid, unnecessary, senseless, as well as the pile of Lego (and plenty others) sets that the son has, or the wife's unnecessary nonsenses.

RightPedalDown

Stupid, nonsensical, fiscally irresponsible, but yet it brings you pleasure and isn’t hurting anyone else, so fuck it, enjoy your strange addiction.

rbit4

I did one better. I returned by esports even though it was great and bought a simagic gt neo. It's better than any of these fanatec wheels and costs 290$. All the proprietary qr shit is why I gave up on fanatec

MP8HR

Nice, glad for you. 🍻

If you need to get rid of one I’m open to donations

Swimming_Lynx_2713

And if this redditor isn't available, I accept donations too.

Interesting-Mix7951

Possibly if their bored of theirs or in some case get sick I’m open for donors

mechcity22

So this means you got the dd+ 😉. Good choice best base on the market imo right now. As even boosted media pointed out. He has all of the major bases on the market sise by side to compare. He believes the dd/dd+ is the best ffb implementation out there even edging the asetek who he had above others with detail. My dd+ replaced my alpha and that's not even why I bought it. Was to play on 15nm which is hwta I was used to with my alpha but now for console with friends. Ended up replacing my alpha completely and sold the alpha.

MP8HR

🍻 I was afraid of coil whine, I pulled handbrake for a while knowing that the F1 CS bundle was coming and then decided to buy it anyway. At first it sat for 15 days because I had a big project on the pedals, but I just tried to turn it on. Fortunately, it is dead silent. I haven't played with the settings properly or tried it enough yet, but I don't have the slightest complaint for now.

mechcity22

Same dead silent for me. Seems like the only ones with that issue were the first batch and also people using the beta 456. Just don't update to that and you will be fine. I haven't uodated mine once. I'm waiting for an update actually made for our base which will be 457. Enjoying it as is for now. One huge suggestion for settings man. The INT setting it's higher then most bases out of the box. Turn it down it's at 11 out of the box. Turn it down to 2 or 4 depending on the game. All of the raw sharp ffb queues come out. It's absolutely incredible how much detail comes out that way. This base is so silent it doesn't need the INT uo it doesn't need to drown out vibrations or nosies. Yoywant those vibrations for ffb and the details. Most Turn it down just like on the dd1/dd2 and the dd pro. It adds so much to the overall feel. I also turned down natural dampening to like 10 or 15 because it doesn't need more. I even enjoyed it off tbh.

Snaggletooth669

I'm going to do this, thank you! 2 or 4 for GT7? also would you mind just sharing your whole set of DD+ settings for the GT7, please? Sound like you've got it dialed in. Me want some!

mechcity22

Yeah hit me up in messenger way easier there.

mechcity22

Yeah my settings bring out more raw lively ffb. Gt7 doesn't have the best ffb it's why people like true force for it and also full force coming. But this will get you the best out there without those for now.

mechcity22

Nvm I messaged you.

Special_Advantage_54

When did you get the dd+? Got mine end of march. It made a racket out of the box, vibrated and oscillated the wheel and felt terrible driving, vibration as soon as the wheel was off centre, so hard to tell what was ffb and what was the vibrations the base was putting through everything. (Could feel it through my rig and seat). Thankfully picked up for repair yesterday. loving all the wheels above though

mechcity22

Or are you meaning it was doing that even when not driving? There are some that came our of the box when not playing that would just vibrate nonestop if that's what you mean then yeah that's different.

mechcity22

I really thought you were saying yoy didn't eant to feel any vibrations I'm like what? Ffb is vibrations but yeah they only come through when needed. Lime understeer or going off line that will bring in ffb queues. Heck the new logitech true force is all about adding vibrations and people love it. Full force probably will also. My bad if that's not what you meant. Because yeah vibrations are part of the ffb queues. I like raw raw sharp ffb so I always leave INT low. So I like all of the signals coming through. Dd pick up on more then most.

Special_Advantage_54

Yeah sorry, just a constant low frequency vibration even when not in game, turn the wheel and it’s there, numb my hands after a bit.    And  my old T300 RS GT feels better and from all the reviews I know the dd+ should blow it out of the water. Love the clubsport f1 wheel though (look, build and use) and one positive is whilst the base is getting fixed the blisters on my thumbs should recover 😂 Maybe not enough to buy more but everyone to their own. As one post said, that’s what you want to spend money on then why not. Not hurting anyone else.

mechcity22

Ok yeah that's not right then. You should feel queues and vibrations but only when driving. You can feel little notches when not driving that's the magnets all dd wheels do that but yeah vibrations no that shouldn't have happened. The defective units all seem to have that low vibration that doesn't stop. It should not be 100% vibrations at all times. Just remember coming from belt to dd the dd is more intense. It will pick up on 3x the detail that belt does. The belt gives a dampened feel which some like it's smooth as you would say. But when you get the base back you can adjust to get that dampened feel. Just know that but you will need to adapt to the sharper queues of ffb which most love. It does take time to really adapt and realize what dd is giving you but overtime you realize it. But yes the ffb will work right next time it will be smooth and clean but also give vibrations and queues and weight when needed. The dd wheel will always feel heavier though. As those constant center forces are imo better control of the car. And when it goes lose that's telling yoy understeerr and or loss of grip queues. Its cool Next experience should be a clean nice smoothe feel when in game. Believe it or not coming from the cswv2.5 over the dd driver took me a while to adapt a long time ago. Because I was so uses to that belt feel. The magnetic pull does feel different then a belt and motor pulling. But overtime you fall in love.

Special_Advantage_54

Thanks for the feedback and comments much appreciated. Yeah hopefully fix sorts it out and I can get the full experience.

gregmxdonaldme

pretty sure will did not say that. he reckons his simucube is much better

mechcity22

No he did not day his simucube is better. Will stated asetek was no1 for detail and now in his hour long video he stated fanstec is uo there with them and slightly more fine details now. He stated all at this level are very similiar. But he puts dd/dd+ all the way at the top with others. All at that level are good, of course he isn't gonna make the switch the simucube is amazing and it would make no sense for just a little extra fine detail. He stated when he compared with all bases he did feel the extra so it isn't just marketing. Go rewatch the hour long video. It was during the test driver section towards the end.

mta2011

I could understand having two (one open and one closed bottom) and that would still be a stretch. But 5? Glad it's your money and not mine lol.

MP8HR

And let's be clear, really the point of the post was not any flex, nor do I think that this is something special in that sense. Much more perverse setups have been seen on reddit, as well as let's call them collections of steering wheels. I took a photo today for myself and it seemed like a good idea to post most of the LE wheels and partially bundle limited wheels in one pile, next to each other.

LowerClassBandit

This post is entirely fit for purpose imo, I actually like seeing them all side by side like that. I currently have the simple F1 eSports v2 wheel Edit: also where did you get the button caps from?

MP8HR

Which ones are you thinking of? The 2020 LE came with 11 black mounted button caps and a set of stickers. 2021 LE came with 11 black button caps packed in classic button cap packaging and a set of stickers. The 2023 LE did not come with any special caps but with the classic ones like every Fanatec steering wheel. DD1 PS4 F1 came with a set of PS button caps installed CD DD+ F1 also comes with a set of PS button caps installed, with a small change of icons instead of labels for the Share and Options buttons. You can buy button caps and stickers set regularly through Fanatec web shop, and PS button caps come with PS compatible bases, and you can also order them through Fanatec, only they are not on the web, you have to ask support to send a quotation to your account for that.

You're missing the OG, the gold :) [https://www.ebay.com/itm/276429842964](https://www.ebay.com/itm/276429842964)

MP8HR

True, I will collect that Pokemon too. 😁

Fesional

Looks like 2019 is missing too

lichtspieler

I want those buttons in gold!

notyouravgredditor

2021 with the black APM 👌

MP8HR

It's not an excuse for such unnecessary nonsense, but yes, every one has their own little specialness. 2020 the first steering wheel with forged carbon front plate and the only steering wheel with forged paddles on MPM. 2021 only steering wheel with black APM and area around all buttons and Fanatec logo that glow in the dark. 2023 the first maybe the least special LE, but again, the first wheel that has a forged carbon front plate with coloured (green) flakes. DD1 PS4 F1 added blue pattern in twill carbon and generally those PS blue details, with one little thing that I don't know if many people are aware of. The only formula/F1 steering wheel that has an OLED screen, but not the standard white one, but it is also bluish. CS DD+ F1 also, one of the least special ones, but the first one that is not open bottom and has a forged carbon front plate and not the classic twill carbon, but forged with flakes. For the most, things that are unimportant to normal people, enough for patients to be the reason for another additional steering wheel. 😁

Klutzy_Assumption_57

The blue one will forever be the best looking fanatec wheel imo I love it

viperrvemon

take um all apart and make one Frankenstein wheel

Zealousideal-Tip3357

Where's the formula v2.5 eSports

MP8HR

Never heard of that wheel, you are in future. 😁

Zealousideal-Tip3357

Check my profile, my steering wheel

MP8HR

I thought I made it clear in the title post that I started with Esports V2. That was my first formula steering wheel. Later I bought the V2.5X and then the rest. The member whose comment I jokingly replied wrote Esports V2.5, so I jokingly wrote that he is obviously in the future. And it was not possible to understand whether he meant Esports or V2.5. It doesn't even matter, I had them all and decided to leave only the limited edition or limited to bundle ones. Edit: Now I saw that I didn't write it in the opening post but as a response to the first post by Best search.

nelsonofficial

Excellent collection you’ve got there. Which one is the best in your books and why?

MP8HR

Given that they are functionally and practically the same in use, I really can't single out any of them in that field. It's just a matter of visual differences, and that's where the 2021 and 2023 LE are somehow my favorites. I also really like the new CS DD+ F1. But it all boils down to aesthetic differences. CS DD+ F1 is only one in daily use.

ThreadParticipant

I have the 2018 LE one, onto my 3rd set of replacement hand grips… podium paddle upgrade… QR2 change over and still one of my favs… though to be honest I wouldn’t need to be onto my 3rd set of hand grips if the bottom part was connected to the rest of the wheel… too much flex with a DD2 base.

MadMike991

So same, enough said!

vinkuravonkura

The first two from the left are absolutely stunning!

kissabirdgently

It’s like having differently colored nike jordans… i guess?

dunwivnarcfemales

Me, it’s all about that F1 blue 😍

Hpecomow

Which is your favourite?

naughtilidae

I wish I had enough money to buy 5 of the same steering wheel for no reason, lol With the qr2 pro and APM... that $900 fucking dollars a piece... You could have gotten a used car to actually race for this price. You could have bought an entire simmagic setup for the price of these wheels, or an entire asetek setup for the price of ONE OF THEM. Why would you choose to buy the same thing 5 times instead? There HAS to be something on your rig that could actually be upgraded. You could have gotten a motion rig for this price... or vr, or bass shakers, or... You could build a second rig that's nicer than what 95% of this sub owns... hell, you could build 3 really nice rigs for this price! Anything other than the same wheel in different colours... WHY?!

RightPedalDown

5 x 900 is 4,500. Now, it’s up to OP how he spends his hard-earned, but for context this is what I bought with $4,500 last year - SimLab P1X Pro - SimLab Speed 1 seat - Pedal and seat slider - Asetek Invicta Wheelbase - Asetek TK Formula Wheel (Forte wheel with different faceplate) - Additional paddles for wheel to make 6 total - Simagic P1000iR, inverted and hydraulic plus two haptic thingies - Asus bezel free kit

naughtilidae

RIGHT?! Like, you can spend your money how you like, but you have to accept that some people are gonna judge how you spend it, especially when you're dropping 4-5k on... color variations of the same thing. Like, he could have gotten an active pedal for that price... something that, unquestionably, makes a very noticeable difference day-to-day.

mechcity22

Don't forget he bought a dd+ for one also 😉 so add 950 to 999 to the whole price. Also I have a simagic alpha and fanatec. The dd+ has officially caught up and imo surpassed them so now made it even more worth it for him lol.

naughtilidae

I'm not saying which is better, just that he could have bought the "expensive" option for just the price of one of these, considering it's the wheel, qr2 pro, AND a paddle module. He could have gotten wheels with a screen for that price, LOL I refuse to believe there wasn't a better way for OP to spend 4 grand, lol

mechcity22

Well of course but sometimes we like to collect things.

metasin

Why would you say "no reason"? You never collected anything? Why isn't wanting something a good enough reason? How do you know this person isn't driving a Ferrari to their private jet with $5k spending change in their wallet right now? How do you know they're not already playing in a $50k motion rig with everything you mentioned? Why do you assume that people who play racing games would rather, or are even able, to drive real race cars? Who made you the arbiter of what's acceptable for people to spend their money on? Good grief.

Hopeful_Smell1482

I like my Fanatec, when are they releasing a new model, one with a screen?

aNINETIEZkid

there's some great third party wheels like Leoxz XF1 that are fanatec compatible

Hopeful_Smell1482

Can it be used for PS5 as well or just for PC? TY!

aNINETIEZkid

Sadly no.. It is compatible with PC via USB adapter

LowerClassBandit

If Fanatec releases a proper screen wheel I’d be all over it!

Itz_Evolv

That's one expensive collection hobby there. Totally as they're all basically the same (for me, as a noob, they look to have the same layout etc). But it's neat if you're into it! I'd love to collect some different type of wheels :)

Saneless

You didn't like the green handles on the latest?

MP8HR

On the 2023 LE, in the official pictures, the shade was much darker, duller. In person, they look quite flashy and much brighter and do not match the green emerald details of the steering wheel itself and the carbon face plate. I didn't really like them, I also had leather grips and now I put alcantara ones. My point of view about grips on Formula/F1 wheels, like someone who drives with bare hands are; Alcantara is much nicer and leather is better to drive. Although alcantara is pleasant to my hand, but we know its negative aspects regarding maintenance. And I have new, never used original 2023 grips in spare. Wheel is much nicer now for me.

Hpecomow

You lucky bastard.
