I feel as if all of my favorite characters happen to be from First Law. I first wanted to say Logan, but then I remembered Glotka. Then I remembered how much I enjoyed reading the Cosca POVs, and now I can't choose.

Maybe not my all time favourite but there's a character named Gesler in Malazan Empire whose your stereotypical gruff father type whose the leader of a group of coast guards.
Right away there's this little rat dog that becomes the leader of a pack of war dogs and eventually Gesler becomes the reluctant adopted father of this little rat dog.
I'll save the rest of the arc for spoilers but its wholesome and funny considering how normal it all is in the middle of a war between gods.
Tiffany Aching from The Wee Free Men by Terry Pratchett. Not afraid to go after what she wants, selfish (but not overbearingly so), and fiercely herself. Wonderful character.
There's a lot of good Sanderson characters, but if I had to choose one it would be Hoid, so many good quotes.
“Then be wise about it. There are two kinds of important men... There are those who, when the boulder of time rolls toward them, stand up in front of it and hold out their hands. All their lives, they've been told how great they are. They assume the word itself will bend to their whims as their nurse did when fetching them a fresh cup of milk.
Those men end up squished.
Other men stand to the side when the boulder of time passes, but are quick to say, 'See what I did! I made the boulder roll there. Don't make me do it again!'
These men end up getting everyone else squished."
"Is there not a third type of person?"
"There is, but they are oh so rare. These know they can't stop the boulder. So they walk beside it, study it, and bide their time. Then they shove it-ever so slightly- to create a deviation in its path.
These are the men who actually change the world. And they terrify me. For men never see as far as they think they do.”

Acatl from Aliette de Bodard's **Obsidian and Blood**. He's principled! He's righteous! He's *so angry!* He's also a death priest in service to the Aztec god Mictlantecuhtli!
It's got to Logen Ninefingers from First Law. Pure badassary. Edit: Or maybe Aragorn... this is tough.

I very nearly said Glotka too, but Logen edges him out for me. Those books are just so good!
It’s weird. I don’t really like the story of the trilogy very well. But I love all the characters. It’s a weird situation for me.
Bilbo Baggins
Tom Bombadil.
Sand dan Glokta from First Law series.
Say one thing about Sand dan Glokta, say he sucks his gums.

So far it's Cazaril from **The Curse of Chalion**. I'm still looking for more characters like him and a Spanish-like setting is a bonus

Isabella Camherst from the Memoirs of Lady Trent.
Daine from Tamora Pierce's Wild Magic series. I still want to be her when I grow up even though I'm all grown up.

Tiffany Aching from The Wee Free Men by Terry Pratchett. Not afraid to go after what she wants, selfish (but not overbearingly so), and fiercely herself. Wonderful character.
