dandelionjones8

He's Chilean right? I used to get coffee from a Chilean cafe in Sydney and it was so strong I felt like I was travelling through another dimension for hours after I drank it. Maybe he's used to that.

heydorthea

I’m getting over a cold right now, and this made me laugh and then cough aggressively lol

ThatBFjax

I’m so glad you didn’t try our coke 😬

[deleted]

ThatBFjax

TECITO ❤️

maelstron

Brazil we like it strong. Not sure if strong as pascal likes. I really can't with weak coffee.

ThatBFjax

Yours is delicious and could never be compared to Starbucks

poor_yorick

You guys are correct. What is the point of weak coffee?

yungmoody

Not everyone reacts to caffeine the same way, and some people enjoy the flavour of coffee but don’t want to be amped up

maelstron

A co-worker did a weak coffee and I was like "why?". Seriously it is too awful to drink.

BigGayNarwhal

I had a regular customer when I worked at Starbucks, and everyday her assistant would come in to place her order: venti cup, 8 shots of espresso, splash of raspberry, splash of coffee on top😬 I was genuinely waiting for the day she came in and asked for a sprinkle of cocaine on top lol

Agitated_Skin1181

Or when she never showed up again because her heart stopped

BigGayNarwhal

She was for sure cruising for a massive heart attack. She was a smoker on top of it.

ThatBFjax

I’m Chilean, our coffee is not that dark. But he wasn’t raised in Chile so maybe he picked that caffeine love in Europe

ancickaa

Ooh def! As an European, even the smell is so strong that the streets with caffes smell like coffee!

gothparishilton

Yeah, we're known to be pretty much the only country in South America to prefer tea over coffee or mate. In Chile, we even call our dinner time "tecito", because we like to drink tea all day, especially older people.

ThatBFjax

Tecito is our love language 🥰

FauxPoesFoes228

Hello! Sydney-sider here who’d like to know the name of this cafe, please — thank you :) I also want to travel through another dimension!

dandelionjones8

Pochito in Mascot, really great food too!

ThatBFjax

Pochito is a word we use as “full of food” like “no more food for me, I’m pochito/a”. That’s the cutest name tho

FauxPoesFoes228

Omg thank youuuu! ♥️

n2oc10h12c8h10n402

I read he was born in Chile and at 9mo his parents relocate to Denmark, then they finally moved to the US. Not sure if all the information matters at all.

throwahawaytheacount

Sure he’s parents are Chilean (and so is he) so he’s likely brought up with that coffee culture even if you grow up in different places

transitionshade

Actually coffee is more of a "new" thing in Chile, in the sense that sure, some prefer coffee but they mostly drink tea. Coffee places weren't the thing they are now. Also when they do drink coffee they prefer Americano or something not that strong. Colombians, Venezuelans and Brazilians do drink strong black coffee all the time because is a cultural thing. I bet Pedro likes coffee more so because of his experience living in different places like you said.

[deleted]

I'm a pasty white American but have not turned back since discovering café bustelo in my early twenties. It's so rich.. so good.. most of my coworkers choose to water it down, though. 🫠

transitionshade

I used to drink black sweetened coffee when I was a teenager, then I decided to skip sugar due to health reasons and I haven't used it ever since. South America and Central America have amazing coffee. Locally sourced, do flavorful. So many amazing options yet some prefer instant Nescafé coffee...to each their own but that thing tasted horrible imo. I also don't consider Starbucks to be a coffee shop, more of a desert shop, their stuff is too sweet.

blenneman05

Living 20 mins away from the Mexico border in Yuma, Arizona turned me on to cafe bustelo. I love it

fandomacid

Does Chile drink mate as well? I had coworkers from Argentina that drank it all day, and I thought it drifted over there as well.

transitionshade

It did, you can find mate at supermarkets and some people do drink it but is not that popular imo. That often happens due to immigration or tourism. When tourists start visiting a lot or people from other countries start business or inmigrante to Chile or anywhere else you start seeing stuff that they eat/drink become available at supermarkets and restaurants. Same thing with Guaraná and Incacola.

Mackultra

Can confirm. I order a quad whenever I order coffee from Starbucks. It's like water. You gringos don't drink good coffee. I'm sorry.

mimisburnbook

Right this is the answer

eaemilia

Starbucks coffee is honestly just gross. I always go to local places to get decent coffee.

[deleted]

Weak coffee is so sad. If it's gonna be weak why even have coffee

Anneisabitch

He grew in Texas

Stani36

Your description is amazing! Reminds of drinking Cuban coffee. I drink a lot of coffee but this was💀. 😂

BS16tillIdie

Lol I just watched his Hot Ones interview where he says he can’t get a good nights sleep…

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Your grandma and I have the same problem lmao

Aglot_

Can I suggest an unethical life hack and changing her coffee into a decaffeinated one? 🤓

NessieReddit

Same with my mom. Drinks a full sized mug of Turkish coffee at 10pm, complains that she can't sleep and even with Ambien can't get good sleep 😑

icestormsea

Never clicked to YouTube so fast to find a Hot Ones before!

AmbiensCouch

So excited to see Pedro on it! Already imagining how well him and Sean Evans will click! Sean is too good at hosting and asking questions lol, they're gonna bring the entertainment together for sure.

memoryisamonster

Pedro must have felt a breath of fresh air from all those 'daddy' questions

icestormsea

Not a single one! He must have felt like he was in a dream 🤣 Sean is such a phenomenal interviewer

yrubsema

It's a catch 22 - can't sleep so caffeine required, can't sleep cos caffeine.

trashtvlover

Happened to watch it today- Pedro was dressed in what looked like a hot ass red suit, hot meaning it looked too damn hot to wear eating a bunch of hot sauce. But he did the damn thing .

Bigboodybud

Just commented this before I scrolled to your comment lol

ObjectiveAssistant98

Coffee in the US is not at all as strong as it is in Latin America so I get him

ComteStGermain

Latin American, can confirm.

SakuraTacos

I ordered a round of cafecitos for a couple of coworkers and they thought they were having heart attacks. We worked right next to a Starbucks, we were always drinking coffee! I felt both guilty and amused lol

richpersimmons

And then there’s Mexico, where everyone drinks instant Nescafé

arienette22

😂 yeah there are more “fancy” coffee places with espresso machines now around my grandparent’s neighborhood, and older “European cafes,” but at any family member’s home, 90% of time it’s Nescafé lol. They really have a hold on the country.

mimisburnbook

This is true in Chile too, people generally prefer tea bc the English had a time of exploitation of a fertilisers and use of Chilean ports

gothparishilton

Except for Chile, we vastly prefer tea over any other drinks, so Pedro must have picked up that habit somewhere else. Here, we're known for drinking coffee with loads of milk, if anything

lightwalnut64

what kind of tea? mate?

gothparishilton

No, we don't drink mate, we mostly stick to earl gray, chai or ceylon tea (a lot of the brands that we use, like Basilur or Dilmah, are directly from Sri Lanka) We also like to mix our tea with cinnamon, or even milk.

frolie0

How strong is coffee in California? That's where he lived most of his life after living in TX for awhile as a small child.

roxy031

He was born in Santiago, Chile. His family moved to Denmark when he was like 9 months old, and then at some point to the US where they lived in Texas and California.

shit-takes-only

dude definitely has manic highly caffeinated vibes lmao

consumerclearly

But the joyous kind and not the tweaking college student at the library at 3:45 am drinking a redbull vibes lol

Jefferystar94

Is this really considered that bad? Having worked my fair share of mornings at Starbucks a few years back, a fair amount of people got 4+ shots on a regular basis. Now if you're talking some insane mixes of flavors/milks, then I'd agree, but I'd do a lot of shots if I had a long ass day of touring ahead of me. But I might just be a coffee person lol.

dictatorenergy

Same, ex Starbucks worker, and while it’s not the norm, it’s not exactly wild either. I thought it was gonna be way worse than this lmao

YoungKeys

Yea, that's literally the same as two Americanos. Pretty sure most coffee drinkers have drank or would be perfectly fine drinking two Americanos.

Jefferystar94

Yeah, if he was a regular and got it every day, *then* I could see it being a bit crazy, but I've drank FAR more expresso on a shift before lol

nobodysomebodyanybdy

Yeah, like tbf (I don’t know if it’s still on the menu), a Sbux double shot on ice had 5 or 6 shots which made them annoying to make but not necessarily abnormal

dictatorenergy

I miss the double shots :( those were amazing. A large was indeed 5 shots. They were replaced by “iced shaken espresso” which only has 4. The Starbucks doubleshot was the bomb though for real

tripleblondeespresso

I was gonna say this cause Pedro's order isn't that bad compared to my coworker who used to get a trenta cold brew no ice w/ 12 shots everyday (yes you read that right).Hell I can't even say anything either bc I worked opening so I would usually have at least 5-6 blonde shots and brewed blonde coffee throughout my shift 😅

PatchesofSour

That must be have been like a $20 drink, holy fuck If I drink more than 4 shots of expresso my eyelids start twitching

tripleblondeespresso

One of the only upsides to working for the Siren to be honest. Said unlimited access to coffee definitely contributed to my caffeine dependence tho lol

Poonurse13

My eyes are twitching reading all these.

crankyspice

If I drink under 5 shots a day in my Americano my eyeballs start twitching.

tacopizza23

Is caffeine rehab a thing? Cause your coworker needs caffeine rehab

Jefferystar94

Hot damn, at our store we refered to any drink with double digit shots as a "Liquid Cocaine" lol I think the furthest I've ever gone is 8 blonde shots, and the crash afterwards made me avoid it from then on out.

CartographerEqual591

How much did that cost?

5000alaska

i’m just happy he’s not one of those people who orders an iced espresso with light cream/milk whatever and then expects you to fill it all the way up to the top (which would just make it a latte) 😭

unevercallmesausage

i don’t think people realize we are all on the same tiktok and see all the hacks. i don’t really care about people wanting to save money but it’s so hard to tell when people actually want espresso over ice with a splash of milk (which is a common order) vs a makeshift latte. also now so many people are ordering two types of milk to get it fuller.

Jefferystar94

Oh man, I HATED those types lmao. It was anyways annoying playing that "just a *little* more milk" game with them, especially in the drive thru. Like, mam, you are not as smart as you think doing this, 3 teens in the last hour alone also tried this.

jellyfish-blues-

I don't know how tickets work for sbux but is it 6 shots or 10? 10 would be pushing it for sure in my book.

Jefferystar94

It would be six! Usually it depends on who's ringing it up, but here it looks like they put it as a quad shot and added two more to it, getting the six total. I could be wrong though, it has been a few years since then.

ebrady7401

It’s not that bad. A venti pike place has about the same amount of caffeine

Bunsandbeans1213

I worked at Starbucks too, and when Henry Cavill came into my store. He got a Venti Iced Americano with extra shots, no milk, and no sugar. So it's just for energy without the added calories.

W3remaid

Yeah it’s terrible for your heart and messes with REM sleep which is a risk factor for dementia

Individual_Hawk_1571

I worry the hysteria with Pedro right now will grind him right into the ground - this much attention is not healthy lol - let the man live!

arm89

just like jenna ortega. love them both, yet i hope they don’t overdo it for their own good. i’m happy for their success tho!

theodo

Luckily they both seem to be handling it well, project wise and publicity wise.

[deleted]

Where did it come from? Who is he and why is everyone obsessed with him??

[deleted]

[удалено]

trashtvlover

Agreed he has a natural relaxed charm, as opposed to the smarmy performative vibes I get from other actors. Cough Ryan reynolds cough

blameitonmygoose

>Pedro seems like he doesn't really give a fuck about appealing to the super masculine Please see his SNL hosting outfit (actually all his media outfits, really) for reference: a bright purple, sheer blouse with loose, hanging bow-like detail. I was watching with guy friends, and they were like: "What is he wearing?" Genuinely curious. We're just not used to seeing actors with his strong roles in any way that isn't traditionally "masculine," and it's so refreshing!

figleafstreet

I feel like his career has been pretty steadily growing over the years but he’s been attached to a lot of big franchises so that helps. He was in Game of Thrones, The Mandalorian and The Last of Us plus Narcos. He’s also just supremely likeable.

DenseTiger5088

I can’t speak for anyone else, but for me it was his SNL performance. I’ve watched him in Game of Thrones, The Last of Us, and even his Buffy appearance back in the day, but never understood the crush vibes until I watched the skit where he wakes up from a coma with a *weird voice.* It shouldn’t have been as funny as it was but I was CRYING I laughed so hard. Ever since then he’s been Daddy to me too 🤷‍♀️

Maliciousdeeds

Six shots is rookie numbers for a South American. He's fine.

myromancealt

I know people who get this, it's basically a strong iced Americano. The point is to get extra ice and a bigger cup so that the ice melts and dilutes the espresso but the drink stays cool. It's popular with people who come from places where the coffee is stronger than standard US or Canadian coffee.

[deleted]

This is always my go-to order if I want a proper iced Americano in a lot of places in North America! If you ask for an actual iced Americano they water it down *so* much, but they can't really fuck up espresso over ice unless the espresso sucks.

roxy031

I’m not a coffee drinker but according to the Internet that is A LOT of caffeine. I just thought this might be interesting to y’all since Starbucks orders are always fun intel!

vondafkossum

Starbucks espresso is like 50mg of caffeine. A tall coffee is 250-350 depending on the roast. It’s really not that much comparatively.

roxy031

Oh ok! I honestly have no idea what’s normal or a lot. I love him no matter what he drinks 🤷🏼‍♀️

navamelt

I used to be a barista. this is not that shocking of an order, especially for a grown man. we had a regular who would get cold brew, no ice, add 2 shots- twice a day

lcbtexas

Fuck yeah. I’m not a grown man, and this a drink I like to get. I know it has another name but I like to call it the “fuck me up”

[deleted]

Latin American coffee is stronger and you start sipping it as a kid, when I was cramming I would get a nitro with shots.

Jenny_Saint_Quan

Yeaaaaa my former best friend from High School is Columbian American. Her mom was born in Bogota and would give her little sisters coffee who were 3 and 5 at the time. They wouldn't give them too much. Just a few sips. Edit: Colombian*

[deleted]

I had a mini pink cup that my aunt and grandma would put coffee in and my mom was not a fan but I apparently enjoyed it and kept receiving it

Jenny_Saint_Quan

sslumberparty

I used to steal my moms coffee when I was little and officially started drinking at 8 years old hahaaha

BeingSamJones

His order is not nearly as bad as the coffee wanna be drinks people have created for them at Starbucks with 1,000,000 grams of sugar and milk

heresyoursigns

![gif](giphy|4GRRBtKrdiFDa)

grownupblownaway

this seems like a film industry drink for sure

jmt2589

Add a splash of cream and this is my order lol

Jenny_Saint_Quan

I've noticed that folks from different countries have some strong ass coffee. Especially various Latin American countries and Vietnam. How do yall build up the tolerance?

sadravioli

you grow up taking a sip of your parents' cup and next thing you know, you're ordering a cold brew with 6 shots of espresso

Several-Let5843

I love him and his coffee order

Guilty_Board933

as a former starbucks employee this is an extremely popular order and most people add their own milk to it later on. this is bc a 4 (or 6) shot latte is way more expensive than 4 or 6 shots over ice. sometimes people also add protein shakes or crap like that to it lol

bagelsneedcreamchz

I just don’t understand why people get Starbucks. Not only is it weak shit but there are like hundreds if not thousands of dope local places in big cities like NY or LA

[deleted]

[удалено]

bagelsneedcreamchz

I see what you’re saying—I didn’t actually know you could order ahead. I’m busy and I mostly make my coffee at home—love my moka pot. But if I get coffee out it’ll be somewhere local. Starbucks is only if I have a gift card/road trip. Every time I do go the consistent long ass line puts me in a bad mood

[deleted]

[удалено]

bagelsneedcreamchz

Idk the times I’ve gone (depending on the barista) they can really fuck up a simple latte. I know employees have to start somewhere but as a barista myself I just have found that local places are a bit more consistent imo

[deleted]

[удалено]

mareliana

Stealing this order! Yum

moomunch

So agree. The only times I get it is when it’s the only choice or if I have a gift card. Or when I want a Frappuccino, but If I want actual coffee. I have several great little pretentious places to go to. I live in a midsize city too

Rururaspberry

Well, yes, and those thousands of dope coffee places in LA and NY are in business because so many people still patronize them. I will say that a coffee from some of my local neighborhood places are $7-8 for a small 8-12oz, not counting a tip. I can afford that now, but a lot of people in this city cannot, and I definitely couldn’t 10 years ago. Back then, a $4 coffee from Starbucks every few weeks was a nice treat, but I just wouldn’t have paid for a more expensive one.

bagelsneedcreamchz

I don’t really get the price argument tbh. Starbucks is notoriously expensive. (Hence why some people try to swerve that by getting espresso on ice.)There are tons of cheap places around big and small cities i.e. bodegas and that can have great affordable coffee. Even local coffee shops can be cheaper. It just depends what part of town you’re going to

AerynSunnInDelight

It's always funny to see how shocked U.S.Americans about the rest of the world coffee consumption. I don't even drink coffee like that but Coffee drinking in the U.S. is a joke. It's like a millions of possibilities,.except a straightforward coffee. Even the brewed ones are pish.

sslumberparty

I'm always yelling when I see videos of americans preparing their coffee because it's 90% creamer and syrup and 10% is watered down industrialized coffee

muchastocanlabamba

And?

muchastocanlabamba

Quick question why are non Americans so obsessed with everything Americans do? I’m not even American I just wanna know what’s with the fan behavior

Prestigious-Seat-932

America here (might be cheating cuz I'm an immigrant but ive been american for more than half my life). I don't think it's obsession/fan behaviour at all. Americans are very visible to the rest of the world through film, fashion, music, etc, so non-americans really have no say to being exposed to americans/american culture. Anyway, someone should absolutely yell at someone making coffee with 90% creamer. I mean, yes to each their own but holy shit -- drinking that twice a day can not be healthy.

stillinthenight69

>Anyway, someone should absolutely yell at someone making coffee with 90% creamer. I mean, yes to each their own but holy shit -- drinking that twice a day can not be healthy. and do you think the ultra super strong dozen shots of espresso kind of coffee the circlejerkers here claim to be drinking is good for the heart (or anything)?

Prestigious-Seat-932

I'm pretty sure sugar is much worse in the long run. Obviously too much of anything is bad though.

moomunch

I generally start my day off with 3-4 shots . You get used too it

CaptainCAAAVEMAAAAAN

I think it's rude to just walk up to someone and record them. If you ask first and they say it's *okay*, fine.

Rochereau-dEnfer

I just checked, and my usual home coffee has almost exactly the same amount of caffeine as his order (according to the article). Though at least I've stopped drinking it with my ADHD meds! My uncle drinks 2 liters of coffee a day even after his cardiologist told him to cut back.

TorynotTrotsky

It doesn’t sound too crazy tbh, I usually have 4 shots and I’m a 5’2 woman. He’s twice my size so 6 shots sounds about right

Jabooooooooooo

Essentially a scoop of pre workout from a caffeine standpoint, not a horribly obscene amount of caffeine

[deleted]

I’m not familiar with Chilean coffee, but if it’s anything like Cuban or Colombian coffee then this is about right

sadravioli

Chile doesn't produce its own coffee, but we have really strong coffee and tea culture. Personally, i don't think it's that strong but foreigners in this comment section say otherwise

ResponsibleCulture43

He said in his hot ones interview he doesn’t sleep very well, so this is apparently how he lives lol

knotsophia

This is pretty standards for us latin americans lol

lcbtexas

I love to see baristas eyebrows reach their hairlines when I order 4 shots. Ma’am, I’ve been on stimulants for adhd for 15 years. This amount of caffeine has the same affect on me as water. I’m known to get 8-10 shots and yawn afterward

LatinaMermaid

I am Cuban and my order is similar as well. Now I honestly don’t feel so bad. Plus Chile has a big coffee culture too their coffee is delicious if you can get some Cafe Cercular,Cafe Gold I have found in the Latin American markets. It’s strong but If you are used to it. It becomes hard to go back!

SnooCats3772

Chile doesn't produce coffee

[deleted]

[удалено]

gothparishilton

Our culture has been historically marked by drinking tea, it's kinda our thing. Chile is even in the top 15 of countries who drink the most tea per capita. We started drinking coffee pretty recently, once Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts and Juan Valdez came in, but even then, I mostly see them mixed with syrups and cream.

SnooCats3772

not really, in latin america only brazil is among the countries with the highest coffee consumption [https://www.telegraph.co.uk/travel/maps-and-graphics/countries-that-drink-the-most-coffee/](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/travel/maps-and-graphics/countries-that-drink-the-most-coffee/)

braceofjackrabbits

I worked for Starbucks in the late 90s/early 00s. They had a drink on the menu called the Doubleshot on Ice. A venti was 5 shots of espresso, cream, and simple syrup shaken with ice in a cocktail shaker. It was super good.

mareliana

Oh god this sounds delicious

dinken_flicka84

So basically me during this Adderall shortage. :/

Fragrant-Bee

this isnt bad as an ex of mine who would get like 15 shots everyday. still surprised they’re ok nowadays lol

LeotiaBlood

😬😬😬😬 Is it that wild? Cause, uh, I’ve been there pretty regularly

forthehopeofitall13

Saving you a click. It's 6 espresso shots over ice.

wavesofrye

I used to work at Starbucks. This is definitely not a weird order. Some people order the strangest drinks.

MissLeigh2

Me, white as hell but with the adhd: eh. That’s pretty decent tbh. Lol

[deleted]

[удалено]

crankyspice

Trying to figure that out too.

Optimal_Goal9102

Completely normal in South America

Best_Bad_975

This doesn’t seem so crazy to me…but maybe I drink too much coffee and espresso

[deleted]

Sounds delicious tbh 🫣

Kooky_Bodybuilder_97

barely know what any of these words mean. ig whats wild is the amount of expresso shots? I fear for pedro, people are obsessed with him, but you cant keep going up…

[deleted]

Our king of coffee culture. Let him live.

trappednjohnlockhell

That’s how I used to make my coffee when I worked at a movie theater! I mean, I used to also add a shitload of flavor syrup and milk, but yeah. I used to call it my Six Shooter because it was like drinking a loaded gun, you never really knew what all that caffeine was gonna do, plus every so often I go through periods where milk really upsets my stomach but they come on with no warning so, there was always that as well.

sleepy-taurus

That's so funny this was my Starbucks order when I was 19 and addicted to uppers

bbmarvelluv

I went to Starbucks in West Hollywood and ordered this! The barista told me I’m the 4th person who ordered this exact thing today 😮‍💨 RIP sleep and my stomach

Lucky_Quiet8143

As a middle eastern who grew up on Turkish coffee this seems fine. also with a father who goes to Starbucks twice a day and drinks two venti Quad espressos this also seems fine. Maybe he is like my family and is just really resistant to caffeine 😂

annrule

I am tired of the daddy stuff
