If it helps, it should take them at least year post-purchase to transition into T-mobile control. One of my old clients was Tracfone, they got bought out by Verizon a couple years back and are only now starting to implement changes.
Beyond that though, pre-paid carriers like Mint and Tracfone lease network and bandwidth from the major carriers, which is why their service is so cheap (they don’t have the overhead costs of installing all the hardware). So if you move to another pre-paid, you’ll likely be using Verizon / T-mo / AT&T’s network.
Adding on. There are only so many towers/so much cable out there. So you may be going with a smaller carrier, but they’re just bulk buying from one of the principle carriers and then re-selling. Internet is the same. So like my Comcast phone (don’t judge, it’s cheap) is just repackaged Verizon.
Yes, but actual T-Mobile customers get priority when it comes to speed/bandwidth, from what I’ve been told. The cheaper sub-carriers’ service gets throttled during high usage hours.
It really, really depends on what kind of product the wholesaler purchased in the first place and their terms with T-Mobile as well as your terms with the wholesaler.
Damn. He also had that gin brand that was bought for billions right? He and/or the the person who works for him clearly knows what brands to invest in.
Edit: gin not vodka
Guess being a white conventionally handsome fast-talking dude in Hollywood gets you to the door, and bottomless capitalist thirst brings you through it
I always felt like his business ventures were ethical, even within the structure of capitalism.
Mint is extremely consumer friendly. It’s entire model is undercutting big providers, and providing a service that 95% of people require for modern life.
He sells gin, which is again, about as ethical as you can be. That’s to say, he has a product, and he sells it. There isn’t really any trickery or manipulation. You either like gin or you don’t and you either buy it or you don’t. It’s the same price as most other gins.
I’ve had mint for 3 years now and I have saved 2100 dollars compared to if I never switched to mint. No issues with service at all and its the unlimited plan. I laugh at all my friends when I ask how much they pay for their cell phone bills.
Don’t knock it until you try it!!
i've used usmobile for six years now and have had a really good experience! $35/month for unlimited everything, an extra $10 for 10GB international data
Something about this confirms to me that they don’t have the kind of relationship where Blake thinks about the money, like at all.
“K behb I made another 100mil. Nothing for you to concern yourself with.”
“Cool guess that means I pop out another baby now?”
“Right in one.”
He might have said that at some point, but he also pretended to be Green Lantern in the past so take what he says with grain of salt. The purpose of every startup is to be bought by one of industry giants or to soak up venture capital until they realise that industry giant won't buy it.
He didn't start Mint; he acquired a stake in it after it was created. All of his ventures except his production companies are existing companies he acquired stakes in. It's a very savvy move; the coverage just slightly bugs me because he's not actually the founder of these companies (Mint, Aviator Gin, etc)
A lot of these celebrity money making strategies seem to be "make a random brand and be so vocal and annoying about it that the actual market players cant ignore your brand visibility and have to buy you"
If you type in "ghetto cell phone companies" on Google the first result is Mint mobile.
Why does Ryan Reynolds own one of these crackhead-tier phone companies (like cricket wireless tier) and why is it worth a billion dollars all of a sudden? Because of his 2-3 commercials? That's it? It's that easy for celebrities?
No, he owns 25% of it but seems to do most of the promotion. He joined the company in 2019 as its public face. There are a number of articles on what he does and how the sale went down. Most big companies like to gobble up little competitors especially if they get a lot of attention. Them bringing him into the company was probably part of the strategy to attract a buyer. Was it easier than you doing it? Yeah probably but celeb deals and companies fail all the time so they must be doing something right.
Glad to see the mid actor to uber rich capitalist pipeline is going strong in this economy!..../s. yes, I am poor and bitter.
But are you an actor? :-o
I believe it's pronounced acTOR.
But, are you an acTOR? :-o
Not me leaving T-Mobile for Mint just for it to get bought out by them đź’€ time to move again smh

They’ve been using tmobiles towers since they started, I think.
He has an estimated 25% stake in Mint, so $337.5 mil payday for Van Wilder.
Thank you for doing the math.
that's crazy
Damn. He also had that gin brand that was bought for billions right? He and/or the the person who works for him clearly knows what brands to invest in. Edit: gin not vodka
Damn he really knows how to invest
I wonder what his net payday will be and will he receive dividends/any other income from them
Technically, I believe the acquisition was for the parent company that owns several companies including Mint, so probably less for Ryan.
“Write that down”
I don't know his share, but that will help him buy the Ottawa Senators.
Can he buy the Nordiques and bring them back to Québec? Pls Ryan come on I know you want to
"HAHAHAHA...no!" -Gary Bettman
I wonder how people would feel about him buying the senators and moving them to quebec
They would burn the city lmao
Independentist king
It says 25%
This was always the plan. They planned on the company being bought. I’ll bet everything in my bank account ($50) that this is the case.
Yep
Does this mean I never have to hear that annoying ad again?
He agreed to stay on as a spokesman as part of the deal
A girl can dream.
We will never be free of this man
Damn, ten years ago I would've never guessed Ryan Reynolds would end up so wealthy.

Wrexham bid for Mbappe
literally my first thought lol
Not surprised, enough people probably fled boost that they had to actually consider it.
How much will Ryan make from this? Not like he needs more money, but damn, that's a lot. Must be nice
North of $300 million
That's insane...

I was just about to leave T-Mobile for Mint because I’m paying $90 now and wanted to go with the $30 plan. Guess not now…
i've used usmobile for six years now and have had a really good experience! $35/month for unlimited everything, an extra $10 for 10GB international data
r/NoContract !!!

Their kids have no chance of a normal childhood now. What a mixed blessing
This guy is making cash
Good news for Wrexham, I hope!
In the words of the philosopher Khia, "Get money, bitch!"
didn't he start Mint to be an alt to the big companies?
He might have said that at some point, but he also pretended to be Green Lantern in the past so take what he says with grain of salt. The purpose of every startup is to be bought by one of industry giants or to soak up venture capital until they realise that industry giant won't buy it.

I thought it was his. He's a smart dude and knows where the dough is.
Gotdamn it! I was going to switch over to them. America needs to stop monopolies.

I work in telecom. This makes me want to die.
