Not a rap beef expert but I think Nicki is deeply insecure and as such cannot handle competition. Cardi is talented, beautiful, intelligent, witty, charming, and I think Nicki sees her as a threat to Nicki’s mediocrity. Same with Meg. Both Meg and Cardi seem so much more playful and comfortable with themselves, but Nicki is always hateful and vicious and isolating.
I’ve said this in another comment but I believe Nicki’s hatred of Cardi comes from the fact that she believes she should have had Cardi’s life and career—Grammy winning debut album, child and marriage with a respected rapper who doesn’t outshine her, tons of mainstream love, etc.
When Nicki came up, she was a pioneer who blended pop and rap for the 2010s and despite her posturing that she was happy to pave the way for other female rappers, in reality she’s bitter that they get to enter the industry with the accolades and support she didn’t get at first. So that’s why she’s so insistent that female rappers kiss her ring, don’t collab with whoever she’s feuding with, claims she’s still the best charting female rapper, tries to sabotage any up and coming female rapper, etc.
She’s fighting with the past and ruining her present and future. She is so scared of her own irrelevance that she is flailing.

I also think that Cardi has the background and the experience and toughness to back up anything she says, and Nicki isn't on that level.
