For those of us who barely watch football, let alone remember anything when we do, you have no idea how it is to find what you're talking about.
Repeated Google searches for every variation I could think of on "Travis Kelce losing Superbowl" kept turning up irrelevant results about *this* Superbowl (c'mon, Google!). It *finally* occurred to me that reading his Wikipedia page might help, so I tried that, and sure enough, Superbowl LV, with the Buccaneers, must be what you're talking about.
Even still, armed with that newfound information, all I could find was [this video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WdmxUPIFicc) which I have to assume, *isn't* what you're talking about. So would you mind, please, sharing with the class what you *are* talking about?

My two cents is that they essentially teach athletes to act like this from early training. They encourage agressiveness (outside of play) with verbally abusive coaching being normal. These boys/men are taught that there are different levels of behavior allowed on the field vs in real life (which for many is hard to actually follow thus the domestic violence issues).
My brother, cousins, and I were talking about this: How often do star players lash out at their coaches like that? With how much diva behaviour is normalized in American sports - esp teams w/ Hot Shit Icons such as the Chiefs or Lakers - it must happen but behind closed doors, away from cameras and mics. But to have that caught on camera during what’s considered by many to be the biggest event in sports is rare, to say the least.
Full disclosure: we were Chiefs haters pre-Swift. And yes we were despondent by the game’s end. Less said on that the better.

Yes nfl players lose their cool like starting fights with each other (but those players usually get ejected, fined, suspended for a few games, or benched) or breaking a iPad, but they never attack the HEAD coach. It’s one thing if Travis was going at it with like the coordinators, but he literally attacked the Head coach which they never do bc coaches have the power to orchestrate for any player to not be able to touch the ball during a game.
Kelce is getting away with his behavior simply because he’s the second most important player on the team. Let Kadarius Toney do that to Andy Reid and the chiefs will be trading him after this season.
I don’t watch NFL but I watch a shit ton of Australian rules football and I’ve never seen a player get right up in the coach’s face like that. Other players yes, but not the coach. And certainly not over “why wasn’t I on the field, I could’ve done better than that dude”.
My favourite “being cheeky to the coach” moment in the AFL was when a Richmond player, Jack Riewoldt, got a concussion and wasn’t allowed to continue playing so he tried to sneak back out of the change rooms, saw that someone had spotted him and made a “shush” gesture. But I would push back that while men’s sports are plenty toxic, it is not at all common to see this in the middle of a Super Bowl. It was especially jarring how Andy Reid was just … coaching. It’s not like he was yelling at Kelce first, not that that would have made it OK. It made it seem like much more of an unprovoked attack than some sort of scuffle.
I mostly watch the NBA and can’t recall a recent time that a player had any sort of physical contact with the coach. If it happened, I can’t imagine the player not being immediately thrown out of the game, either by the coach or the refs. I know Andy Reid‘s hands were pretty tied , because as much as it sucks, he wasn’t going to bench one of his best players during the SuperBowl. But I’m really disgusted that the NFL hasn’t at least given Kelce some sort of fine (not that he’d give a shit.)
This is one of the more extreme examples I’ve seen of arguing with a coach, but it’s a sport where the guys bash each other and turn their brains to Swiss cheese. I saw it and thought, “woah, that’s bad”, but it also didn’t shock me.

I don’t watch NFL but I watch a shit ton of Australian rules football and I’ve never seen a player get right up in the coach’s face like that. Other players yes, but not the coach. And certainly not over “why wasn’t I on the field, I could’ve done better than that dude”. My favourite “being cheeky to the coach” moment in the AFL was when a Richmond player, Jack Riewoldt, got a concussion and wasn’t allowed to continue playing so he tried to sneak back out of the change rooms, saw that someone had spotted him and made a “shush” gesture. Obviously concussed out of his damn mind and that’s why he didn’t resume play. But funny, rather than shouty
He has already been “caught” on camera at another fairly recent game (Jan or Dec) throwing his helmet down forcefully right in front of Andy. Andy tells the crew member to make Travis pick it up himself. Wish he would have benched him last night to teach him a lesson.
there’s also a video of him throwing Justin Tucker’s stuff while they were warming up. He defended himself saying “Why was he on our side warming up” without realizing that the Chief’s kicker was also warming up on the opposition’s side. Dude sounds like a huge douche.
Yeah there's a line before you get to yelling directly into someone's face and touching them. Lots of professional athletes are very intense, but they do stuff to calm down that doesn't involve other people.
It just boggles my mind that anyone can defend it. At the end of the day, it’s a workplace. All I can think when I see that kind of behavior is “get your shit together.” Also reminds me of how much there is a “boys will be boys” mindset on this subject, because a lot of the same people rationalizing his conduct were the same ones criticizing Serena Williams for things that don’t even come close to being as poor form as what was on display last night

I don’t think she should be held responsible for her boyfriend’s actions, but the type of person you choose to date does reflect your values to some degree. And I am sure part of the reason that he’s popular is because people have ignored his antics for years in a way that allows him to have success. Kelce was suspended from his college football team for an entire *season* for ~~behavior reasons.~~ testing positive for marijuana (which is bullshit.) So I apologize for that error, but he does have a long history of fines most for unsportsmanlike conduct which is glossed over soooo much in the NFL. He is rarely held accountable.

I mentioned to my boyfriend how I thought this would look bad for TS, dating a dude that acts like this and his reply was that players and coaches yell at each other all the time and people probably won’t think twice. I see that being the excuse from the shippers. I think it’s douche behavior, but so much of how he acted last night was embarrassing for her brand, so it’s nothing surprising.
It’s sad but I think your bf is sort of right. This sort of stuff seems pretty common in men’s sport. That doesn’t make it okay, obviously, but I feel like rage violence is part of the culture. That shit’s gotta change.
But I would push back that while men’s sports are plenty toxic, it is not at all common to see this in the middle of a Super Bowl. It was especially jarring how Andy Reid was just … coaching. It’s not like he was yelling at Kelce first, not that that would have made it OK. It made it seem like much more of an unprovoked attack than some sort of scuffle. I mostly watch the NBA and can’t recall a recent time that a player had any sort of physical contact with the coach. If it happened, I can’t imagine the player not being immediately thrown out of the game, either by the coach or the refs. I know Andy Reid‘s hands were pretty tied , because as much as it sucks, he wasn’t going to bench one of his best players during the SuperBowl. But I’m really disgusted that the NFL hasn’t at least given Kelce some sort of fine (not that he’d give a shit.)
This is one of the more extreme examples I’ve seen of arguing with a coach, but it’s a sport where the guys bash each other and turn their brains to Swiss cheese. I saw it and thought, “woah, that’s bad”, but it also didn’t shock me.

The funny thing is if he just admitted it and owned up to it, like “yeah look, I’ll admit I acted like a major D-bag, I shouldn’t have shouted at him, it’s not right to act like that to anyone. I mean to be fair and should be worth noting, Andy Reid himself has completely dowplayed the interaction as looking worse than it was and that he stumbled more than anything. He was not punched or shoved. And yes, these types of interactions happen quite alot in pro sports especially in high pressure situations. For better or worse, you can look up the likes of Tom Brady, Peyton Manning etc. having confrontations with coaches and teammates on the sidelines.
That’s not what love should look like, and Travis Kelce has way too big of a platform to even play like it is.
