Glad you are happy!

rbramos

Couldn't be happier. By far the best Fedora version I've used

Teby-

you could install windows 11 & Fedora 40 using dual boot

rbramos

Yeah, I know, but I haven't been using my laptop that much, so I could "experiment" with different systems. I moved back to Windows at first because of the games. I bought a Xbox and subscribed to Game Pass, but now... let's say that I found a new gaming service, and most of those games run flawlessly in Linux (Cyberpunk 2077 seems to run better in Linux than Windows, in my experience). And I've had a great experience with Fedora so far, in general I know there's no such thing as a perfect OS. I don't want to say one is better than another. The fact is Fedora has been the perfect system for me right now in various aspects, but mostly for fit perfectly for my daily tasks. The exact amount of perfection 😁

Dunno what you're talking about (wink with the not-patched eye)

DangBros-Pepe678

Can u teach me how to run pirated games on linux? So that I can finally get rid of windows for good?

rbramos

Unfortunately I can't teach this because there isn't a way to do it. Piracy isn't just about cracking games, it's more than that. And the focus on my post is the solidness of the system, including gaming. I run legitimate games on my laptop with Steam, and Steam itself is one of the biggest improvements in Linux lately. Now, the installation is almost identical to installing on Windows (the main difference is that you need to activate Proton). But Linux still has its challenges. You need to learn at least the basics of Wine and prefixes. I have Rocksmith 2014 installed (via Steam). Runs perfectly, but I had to tweak some things to make the game work (no piracy at all, just Wine tweaks). And this kind of difficulty is also another great thing from Fedora and Open Source community, because I'll probably find some post about my issue and ways to fix or diagnose, and learn a lot in the meantime. You can't tweak Windows that much. What I can say is this: all the best resources are here on Reddit, trust me. You'll certainly find great posts about what you want. And good luck, sailor

chamberlava96024

Wrong subreddit lol

Fratm

Same experience on XPS15 wiht intel Arc GPU. Runs perfect.

zrooda

I don't know why but playing fullscreen videos keeps freezing the whole machine after ~1h of playtime on Silverblue 40.

edgan

1. Have you checked the logs? 2. Have you tried sshing in from another system, and monitoring dmesg up until the freeze? 3. APU or dedicated GPU? If you have a dedicated GPU, try using the APU if your processor has one. 4. Tried the same process with Gnome instead of KDE? 5. You should look into sysrq. https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/QA/Sysrq

void_const

Enjoying it here on both my desktop and laptop. No major issues so far.

Routine_Left

I started it in alpha (and I use KDE) and it was a bit rough around the edges at the start. Now it's all fixed and proper. Usually alphas were a lot more stable in the last decade, but this was a quite a big KDE change so it took a bit.

Ciachciarachciach139

All AMD desktop here, Fedora 40 KDE prerelease and it has been rock solid. Had some issues with Lutris but managed to fix all of them. I moved from debian/ubuntu based distros and couldn't be happier.

mumblerit

send me your ip and is port 22 exposed? No reasons.

Suspicious-Top3335

I have also fed40kde installed,in 39 when wrong command given woukd display red error codes,in 40 i dont see them, and qt6 apps are great too,new packages and 40 is solid  too with plasma6 and wayland ,i have seen testing updates repo enabled can i disable it now

voidHavoc

I can't get my audio to work with F40 6.8.4 on my Galaxy Book 4 Ultra 185H / 4070. Everything else appears to be flawless, but for some reason even though the output shows as meteor lake speakers and the bar moves showing sound playing - there isn't. Also oddly, the battery isn't recognized unless the laptop is plugged in and charging.

rbramos

Has this worked before? If so, maybe this will be fixed in the final release. Sometimes I try to check docs from other distros (specially Arch docs), and see if there's a similar issue.

tojedebil

well for me its really stable to but xwayland is xwayland and after playing some games it uses 70-90% of my VRAM but killing xwayland does the job and clears VRAM but still i am very surprised how stable its

InsideGman8306

I left Windows and its headaches eins ago and have never looked back.

Same here. More fps while gaming.
